Tanwen Anwyl
Tanwen moves in closer to the action and loads another bolt into her crossbow.
I could probably use the fire in my blood to combat these goblins, but I don't want to risk burning anything, there's enough fire around as it is. The Chelish woman thinks to herself at the bolt finds its home in her crossbow.
Tanwen Anwyl
With only a single goblin in sight, Tanwen aimed her crossbow at it and loosed a bolt.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
crit damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
She then loads another bolt into the crossbow.
GM Anthorg - RotR
Tanwen shoots the goblin dead in the face, killing it.
By looking around, everyone realizes who has been fighting. The few peasants that remain in the square see the party and take note of who they are. With thankful looks, they leave the square trying to hide. The dog also leaves, wimping.
From everywhere at once, and from nowhere in particular, the goblin song continues.
"Chase the baby, catch the pup."
"Bonk the head to shut it up."
"Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,"
"We be goblins! You be food!"
Everyone realizes this isn't over, so taking this respite could be a good moment to gather strength.
Ribitta Andersen
Ribitta gathers all the dead bodies in one spot, clutching her ranseur in her tail. Any goblin that still breathes, she snaps its neck, not expecting them to cooperate with interrogation.
Tanwen Anwyl
"Don't relax, there's still more of them out there." Tanwen suggests as she takes out a potion of mage armor and drinks it, preparing for more goblins.
Brand the Bold
|
Once Elan channels, Brand says, "I'm headed further into town. We'll be more successful if we operate together. Any of you care to join me?" With that he peers around to try and determine the best direction to go with the intent of taking out goblins.
Perception if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
GM Anthorg - RotR
After a few moments, the group recomposes and focuses. Although goblins do appear from scattered places at all sides, mostly north and west, they all die by their own clumsiness or lack of planning. The group manages to beat down a pair of goblins that run through the square easily, since they were more focused on cackling and sing than actually fight. The sight of the streets is of many dead goblins and few dead citizens.
Brand focuses on the sounds and it seems the goblin song is dying out, which means that it's easier to pinpoint its origin. To the east, there is a commotion, but it seems that the guards are shouting victory.
Other buffing spells may be cast here.
However, to the north, a scream and frantic barking can be heard. Upon arriving at the source of the sound, the group arrives in time to see a goblin riding what appears to be a mix of a rat with a dog with a strange sword. "Noooo", can be heard close by, as a cowering man cries the death of his dog.
This chain of events makes a group of three goblins emerge from hiding in cheer and the goblin rider turns to the cowering man.
Gobos have not perceived the group, so you get a surprise round.
Ribitta Andersen
The tiefling slinks towards Brand, sliding its mask back over its face. "I follow," they croak.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Mashaka Lyra
Mashaka notices the entire chain of events going on and smiles. She felt very much at home during such confused situations, somewhat matching the strange patterns of her insane mind. She advances against the group of Goblin in an almost reckless manner.
As my single action for the surprise round... A single 20 feet move. My spells are too short distanced! :)
Ribitta Andersen
Ribitta lopes alongside Mashaka, ranseur held at the ready, waiting for a goblin to dare approach her.
Elan Crew
As the paused for a moment Elan cast Protection from Evil on himself.
Upon seeing the scene Elan sighs. He raises his crossbow and fires at the goblin on the dog.
Heavy Crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 4
Tanwen Anwyl
Tanwen will take a short 5 foot step and then loose her crossbow firing a bolt at the green goblin hiding behind the wheelbarrow.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
GM Anthorg - RotR
Whoever didn't move themselves in the map, please do. If you prefer, just let me know that you didn't so I can move you.
Mashaka and Ribitta approach in unison. Elan aims and shoots the cart. Tanwen, on the other hand, shoots the exact frame of the goblin who, oblivious to the shot, looked too late and took the hit between its eyes and fell back dying.
Inits:
Gobos: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Brand: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Elan: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Mashaka: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Ribitta: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Tanwen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Mashaka and Tanwen can act, then enemies, then everyone.
Tanwen Anwyl
Since it's the first round of combat, my speed will be 35', that's important because I'm using the full 35' movement.
With the enemy engaged, Tanwen drops another crossbow bolt into it's home and moves closer to the enemies, likely putting herself in harm's way.
Mashaka Lyra
Mashaka moves and, with a smile, casts a spell on the dog being rid by the goblin.
Bllll! - she completes, showing her tongue to the dog and riding goblin.
Lesser confusion, DC 13. Her weapon is her holy symbol, so she keeps her usual combat stance, waiting for them to approach.
GM Anthorg - RotR
Dog will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
As scary as Mashaka's face was, the goblin shook off the divine power extended towards him.
With the new threat in front of them, the goblins frantically charged the nearest target, Mashaka. At the same time, the goblin rider commands its mount away from Mashaka, holds the melee weapon with its knee against the dog and pulls out a shortbow and shoots it at her.
Red charge @ Mashaka: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Blue charge @ Mashaka: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Commando shoot while riding attack @ Mashaka: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 5 - 4 = 21
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Blue confirm: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Commando confirm: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 4 = 8
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
@Mashaka: I don't remember if you have reach. If you do, feel free to roll an AoO against the goblin that hit you.
One of the goblins, in its frenzy, manages to cut deep into Mashaka's left arm and the goblin rider shoots a very sure blow into her left shoulder.
@Mashaka: take 6 damage, or 3 if you manage to kill the goblin with an AoO
At this point, the goblin song can hardly be heard, except for one voice to the south.
Party's up. The two goblins are charging. The goblin rider has partial cover and the dog has cover.
Ribitta Andersen
Ribbita clambers on top the wagon, standing between the cowering man and the goblin horde. She turns to face him, raising a finger limply to the front of her mask and shushing him, then lowering her hand, gesturing that he should stay down.
She strikes at the goblins, trying more to dissuade their approach than to maim or kill.
To Hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
GM Anthorg - RotR
@Ribitta: I like the mask dynamic. Shall we choose a mask that you may have bought in the festival? Let's say, the festival had these Mardi Gras masks available for purchase. Later, if you want, you could get a custom one to play the mysterious hero?
Mashaka Lyra
No reach here.
Mashaka is hit, but even hurt she smiles, shakes her body as if in a weird dance and then attacks the goblin at her southeast using her strange divine sword.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 5) + 1 = 10
Confirm?: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Extra Damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 1 = 12
Finally, she 5-foot-steps North, looking at the riding goblin with murdering eyes.
Attacking the blue one. 5-foot-step north to stay in melee with the red one (since my attack might have killed the blue one). Not sure if the riding goblin has Precise Shot or Mounted Archery, so trying to play it defensively.
Brand the Bold
|
Brand charges the goblin before Tanwen. "Raarrrgghhhh!" he bellows then nearly trips and is just thankful he keeps his feet even though his blow never lands.
Atk: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 61d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Tanwen Anwyl
Crossbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Tanwen shoots her crossbow at the goblin rider and drops another bolt into place ready to fire another.
GM Anthorg - RotR
The pompous looking man nods slowly at Ribitta's suggestion of staying quiet. Brand misses the goblin clumsily. Tanwen shoots a crossbow bolt that lands in the grass. Elan shoots a sure bolt of fire at the goblin fighting Mashaka. Even though it is hard hitting someone in a melee fight, the goblin has charged recklessly into battle and failed to dodge it.
Elan, you needed to include the -4 to hit from shooting into melee. I'm also ruling that Mashaka doesn't provide it with cover, since it's small.
To the south, a goblin singing the goblin song appears singing. Its words drive the other goblins to a frenzy, who attack violently. The goblin rider also shoots its bow at Brand.
Commando shoot @ Brand into melee: 1d20 + 6 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 4 - 4 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Blue attack @ Brand: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Red attack @ Mashaka: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 1 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
However, their attacks only hit their armor, causing no damage.
Party's up!
Ribitta Andersen
To Hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 = 8
Ribitta stabs outward with a fierce yell, penetrating the goblin's flesh.
Brand the Bold
|
Brand redoubles his efforts and slices the goblin before him.
Atk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Tanwen Anwyl
Crossbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Tanwen fires another bolt, still trying to get the goblin rider. "Just stay still why don't you!" She screams out as she loads another bolt into the crossbow.
GM Anthorg - RotR
Mashaka ends up impressed at Ribitta's quick dispatch of the critters. The goblins take the opportunity to advance.
The goblin rider, seeing that all its friends died, decides charging forward. Letting go of the bow, it grabs the longer weapon and the goblin dog walks toward Brand.
Commando @ Brand: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Dog @ Brand: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
The goblins swing scrapes his shield, while the dog's bite only hit armor.
Meanwhile, the chanter at the back continues singing...
"Goblins chew and goblins bite."
...and Tanwen suddenly feels something very funny.
Party's up again. Bring'em down!
Ribitta Andersen
Ribitta walks along the top of the wagon, muttering to herself and staring daggers at the rider's mount.
Casting Murderous Command on the goblin dog, DC 13 Will or spends the next round attacking its nearest ally (its rider)
Mashaka Lyra
Mashaka goes around, ending in a position to flank the dog and rider with Brand.
Attack (goblin): 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6
... But she manages to miss again, despite being somehow happy with her martial prowess.
Brand the Bold
|
Brand slashes at the rider (5' step if needed) and gashes him.
Atk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
