I’ve been trying to absorb the rules a bit, and I will advise those who have it at first level that Pierce the Veil is going to be an important tool, probably as important as perception in this game.

Male Human (Infernal Bloodline) Investigator 2

I realized Nace’s equipment was lacking any alchemical items, which is kind of the Investigator’s thing. I put a few on there to start out with, and stuck with those that have a crafting DC of 20 or less.

Female Caucasian/Japanese, Shadowblooded Human Brawler (Dark Harvester) Current AC 23

I'll get equipment down later tonight.

And I'll shut up now that Miren has lodging. :) (: YOU CAN MAKE SMILEYS EITHER WAY OMG.

Just making sure that Patrick sees I posted in gameplay earlier today...

Got it! Yeah you posted right before I did my last post for the night. I’ll update soon

I have finally been able to nail down Pru's Stats (had to do a rework of them after my brainstorm and it's taken me a while to get to it) and am about 3/4 of the way into typing them up into my Character Sheet template to transfer to Paizo, so they should hopefully be up tomorrow.

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

No worries, you folks will likely be Scooby-Doo ing for a while. Plus, this is modern day New Hampshire. If gunplay breaks out, there’s gonna be consequences...

That's why I prefer a blade, or my hands

I'm prepared for that eventuality as well :)

I may not be as eloquent as this though...

Well, dead bodies still bring down the heat no matter how they end up dead. Just beware...

If they're found. After warching Ozark, I believe body disposal is the alchemist's job.

Who also happens to be the Alchemist...

heheh yes we do

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Yeah and you have a large National Forest just south of town. Like hide-a-Bigfoot big ...

Although this town is just sketched in for the intro module, I think there’s some potential for a Steven King- type burg here. I’m coming up with some interesting ideas.

It pays to have the law on your side. Especially when “the law” is trained in alchemy and started out his career in criminal forensics.

Add to the list of things I never imagined I would find myself researching for a roleplaying game: open carry gun laws in New Hampshire.

My Google search history is pretty diverse sometimes.

Yeah I’ve been looking up a lot of firearms and customisation options (including illegal ones) lately. So yeah, if anyone’s keeping an eye on my search history I’m probably going on some watch list...

Sorry about falling behind. My day has been filled with unimaginable rage.

Were you caught up in the protests?

Not caught up in it, but know people who are. If it weren't for my wife and son, I probably would be. I also handle Social Media for a living....

Lots of sirens here tonight, all night.

Finally bloody finished updating Pru’s character sheet!
Haven’t put Mafdet’s stats in yet, but everything else is (hopefully) done.
Included background, description, links to pics of her and her equipment, and some info on some of her abilities for ease of reference.
Took me damn well long enough!

One of the things I am struggling with at the moment is the decision I made to create a PC who is a white police officer, and whether I have adequately taken into account the considerable baggage that comes along with that. While he is clearly an outsider with regard to his brethren for all sorts of reasons (not least of which are his background in the occult and his experiences as a gay man), I plan to keep a close eye on the way the police background manifests in his interactions. I want to make sure his police persona is not some sort of Hollywood glorification of an idealistic "rookie cop", which is a trope that can seep into things very easily if I let myself get lazy.

In all likelihood, this will be background information - he is well out of his jurisdiction, and the very nature of a campaign like this will put him outside the expectations of a police department. But this issue has been glaring at me the last several days and I want to make sure I am not contributing to harmful cultural narratives.

I had a thought to revising his entire backstory, but I invested a lot of creative energy into it and I would rather see if I can adapt it in a socially responsible way rather than throw it out entirely. Feedback is welcome.

Geez, I didn't even connect your character with the unrest and the toxic US police culture. Durp.

That might be why he was so willing to accept a weird invitation. If he was one of those kids whose dream was to be a policeman but found the culture not what he wanted, he might be looking for a way to serve without the baggage of being a cop. That, plus his obvious 'weird' talents and his supernatural bent, might be a driver for him to find a better way, as it were.

My main client's stepson is a new officer, and I think he's struggling a lot with it. I'm sure many others are, too. You are certainly a thoughtful enough person and good enough RP'er to work the current situation into Nace's and make it part of who he is and what he does.

Conflict makes a character interesting and builds their personality, as well as giving them a development arc. I wouldn't cancel Nace's backstory at this point. I vote use it, not lose it.

Yeah I don’t see it as an issue. I hate to use the cliché, but just because you’re a white cop, doesn’t make you a part of that sub culture. There are still plenty of good cops, the same as there are bad cops of other “races”. It shouldn’t have to define who you are as a character.

Female Caucasian/Japanese, Shadowblooded Human Brawler (Dark Harvester) Current AC 23

Very true. And him not being in his home jurisdiction definitely helps. No real chance of abuse of power to a harmful degree.

His interaction with the...less than legal things some of us do might be another story.

The trope of the rookie cop is prevalent. However, I think RPGs in general are an excellent way to explore topics in a consensual safe place. I’m God, and I will it so.

Lol. You’ll probably get a kick out of this story:

So, I was talking with my daughter. She wants me to go camping with her and her family. I agree and let her handle the details. She comes up with a cabin in NH. ... about a half hour from the supposed location of Halifax.

I’m kinda stoked. I hope I can visit the area to soak in some atmosphere

Hey, with that little roll tossed in there, are we supposed to wait or can we move along to breakfast?

Digging the new pic for Miren.

At first I thought "Who is this stranger?!"

I picked her original in a hurry to get the character creation done. Haven't looked at pics in a long time and was hoping they'd have some new ones. They did! Changed pics in a bunch of games.
