Arnaut also has access to 3 Reasons to Live, a magic horn that enhances his performances as if he were 6 lvls higher (though this does not give him early access to performances).

Jack enjoys spinnin' a yarn to inspire his friends or put the fear of doom in his foes. Once the buffs and debuffs are in place, he moves in like a skirmisher with his rapier.

After his last mission, Jack offered Grandmaster Torch a place to stay in his Lodge in Promise, while Torch considers life in semi-retirement. Only nine other Pathfinders in the whole Society can raise an objection to the arrangement. And Jack would just tell them to get bent.

So if the aid character sticks to handing out tokens he is safe. If he tries a heroic mission he dies on a 5 or less. Pretty risky. Better have some prestige saved up before trying that or be high enough level to roll 5d6. Me thinks the res priests are going to have a busy day.

When you generate aid tokens, do you always pass them to another table or do/may you use them yourselves?

Is there any association with the aid character and the role?

It seems like we're just rolling d6's... so you could technically put a straight up fighter in as a medic, and he'd do no different than the cleric, levels being equal.

These 4th-level NPCs are less likely to succeed than PC Aid Characters at all tasks, but they give all players a way to participate in this scenario’s mechanics.

There may be some confusion about risks to Aid Characters.

The considerations and calculations are different for Aid Tokens and Aid Mission.

There doesn't seem to be any risk associated with contributing a standard Aid Token. However, at the start of play, when the GM provides you a blank Aid Token for each of your three Aid Characters, you may elect to attempt a 'heroic' action to provide greater benefits of aid. To do so, you roll a number of d6 dice, according to your Aid Character's level--and whether it's for an Aid Token or an Aid Mission.

Aid Tokens, pp.6-7 wrote:
7 or less: The Aid Character grants the standard Aid Token benefits but is injured in the process, with the same consequences as if they had rolled 8–15. (This Aid Character cannot participate in missions later in the scenario, but they can recover from their injuries at the end of the scenario by spending 8 Prestige Points.)

Aid Missions, announced by the Overseer GM, will occur at designated times during the scenario, one for each of the five roles.

Aid Mission, p.7 wrote:
5 or less: The Aid Character’s luck runs out. Whether from an ambush, a devious trap, or a relentless onslaught of foes, the character meets their end. This Aid Character dies and does not contribute to the mission’s success.

Jack covered this above, but to confirm:

Marta wrote:
So if the aid character sticks to handing out tokens he is safe.

Pretty much, UNLESS you want to attempt an ‘heroic’ aid task to boost your aid 'Effect' to 'Heroic Aid'.

In which case the player rolls nd6 (depending on class level) to determine whether they succeed and whether they were injured in the process.

This is outlined in the third paragraph of the Aid Tokens section

Marta wrote:

Overseer Dennis has clarified that Aid Tokens are always passed onto other tables.

However, I can't see any reason why you couldn't advise which table you wish to aid, Marta.

Yeah, you’ve nailed it, Hamish.

As Jack mentions above, the scenario talks about players possibly wanting to match ‘class theme’ to Aid role, but in reality it’s only the Aid PC’s character level that matters mechanically.

Grand Lodge

This close to the start date it is great to see everyone has checked in.

On a personal note, I have gamed extensively with most of you and while I have only met Jack IRL, I consider you to be ‘virtual’ friends.

Rokgurn, I don’t believe we have gamed before. Welcome and I hope you enjoy the game.

This scenario has the reputation of being deadly. While we are ‘only’ playing ‘soldier’ mode, the challenges are more difficult than a regular scenario.

While I do not go out of my way to kill PCs, I believe Pathfinder Society play without the risk of failure is not worth playing. If you have the misfortune to lose a PC during the course of this game, I will mourn them with you and hope there will be no hard feelings.

Allow me to set-out the ground rules, which are designed for fairness and consistency.

If you have played with GMs like GM Aarvid, GM±EM, GM Hawthwile or GM Lorenzo, I doubt there'll be any surprises ;)

Please make it obvious what buffs you have active and what your AC is.
Miss is always low if a miss chance applies. For example, if there is a 50% miss chance on a melee attack, a result of 1-50 on d100 is a miss.
I roll group initiative and track character actions. Unless you state you are waiting for another to act, I will adjudicate those actions in the order they were posted.
You may delay to a later position in the initiative sequence, as usual.
If I make a mistake on the current combat round, please let me know and I will try to make it right.
I generally prefer PCs to roll their own saving throws and Attacks of Opportunity (AoO). However …
I like a relatively fast-paced scenario. I find when a game loses momentum, the fun is quickly sucked out of it.
As such, if you do not post an action within 24 hours from when I invite you to post, I reserve the right to take actions for your character.
If at all possible, please let me know if something comes up that prevents you from posting.

Questions? Just let me know here or via PM.

I generally keep my HP, AC, ST, CMD, and some skills up to date on my tag line and add buffs I think you might want to know without having to nav over to my character sheet after 'Active Conditions'. The other buffs (Marta specializes in long term buffs so there are a LOT of them) will be on her character sheet inside an 'Active Conditions' spoiler. Like Mage Armor and Heroism which factor into AC/ST/etc. and would probably just be clutter if I added it to the tag line.

Marta caries both a runestone of power and a pearl of power to recharge 1st level spells. As long as there is a spellcaster in the group that can cast the spell, she will kindly ask that the caster use her gem and her rod of extend so that she will have a Mage Armor that will last the whole day. Any takers?

As Jack mentioned, we should try to get a round of Aid Tokens sorted before Overseer Dennis declares Part 1 over.

Most of you have assigned Aid Characters to their respective roles, and each role is associated with a specific benefit that the Aid Character in that role can provide. You each may have a maximum of 3 Aid Tokens (representing each of your Aid characters and corresponding to their roles).

Now, please refer to the Aid Token Reference Sheet, which details all of these benefits (Handout #5).

At this time, each of you has the opportunity to commit any number of your Aid Characters to a more challenging, heroic task. This task provides greater benefits, but it also introduces a risk that the Aid Character may come to harm and therefore be unable to help out during later opportunities in this scenario.

These tasks are particularly difficult for lower-level Aid Characters, who are likely to be injured in the process. (The 4th-level NPC Pathfinder pre-gens are unwilling to attempt the heroic tasks.)

For each Aid Character attempting a heroic task, please roll (also indicating the Aid Character name, role, and level):
3d6 for a 5th- to 8th-level Aid Character
4d6 for a 9th- to 12th- level Aid Character
5d6 for a 13th- to 16th-level Aid Character
6d6 for a 17th- to 20th-level Aid Character

The results for each Aid Character depend upon the results of their roll:
16+: The Aid Character PC grants the benefits of heroic aid and is entirely unharmed.
8–15: The Aid Character PC grants the benefits of heroic aid but is injured in the process. This Aid Character cannot participate in missions later in the scenario, but they can recover from their injuries at the end of the scenario by spending 8 Prestige Points.
7 or less: The Aid Character grants the standard Aid Token benefits but is injured in the process, with the same consequences as if they had rolled 8–15.

Let's use this Discussion thread for these rolls.

”Showoff.”

Rudzik’s too much of a safe player for that nonsense.

Level 5 and almost as little wisdom.

Venture-Captain Hugo Victor calls upon the night of Abadar

”Keeper of the First Vault, shine like gold upon the heroics of the teams so assembled for this cause! “

Heroic medic : 6d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 3, 2, 3) = 18

The lesser agents of Waki Huro and Omar Posada contribute their aid in a minor way to the effort.

Just a few questions about the Aid characters.

1. Do you control them or are they a party resource?
2. If you do not choose for them to be Heroic are they at any risk?
3. Do the characters actually have to have the skills necessary to fulfill the role?

#3 was answered a bit back... ie: no, role seems mostly RP related. Though there might be specific tasks that only people assigned to a specific roll can participate in. Whether you're suitable to that roll, seems immaterial.

1. Each Aid PC is an 'actual numbered' PFS PC that belongs to a particular Player. (eg. Aid 'Medic' Hugo Victor #9884-2 belongs to GM Aarvid.)

While I have no problem with the party discussing tactics, the final decision on what each Aid PC does rests entirely with the Player that 'owns' that PC.

(Continuing the example, GM Aarvid has the ONLY say on whether Hugo Victor attempts heroic aid, standard aid or no aid)

2. For Aid Token generation, no.

3. No. The medic, guard, etc roles are purely for flavor. A wizard can be 'muscle' and a barbarian can be a 'medic.'

Though a seriously failed 'heroic' aid token generation attempt will put the character temporarily out of commission. I think standard aid tokens are a freebie with no roll. If that is the case, all three of my characters generate a nice safe non-heroic aid token.

Does anyone have any teamwork feats?

Thanks guys. I have added my Aid tokens.

Now that Part 1 has ended, your table may distribute 1 aid token (total for the table, not per player). If that token is heroic, you may distribute a second (heroic or non-heroic) token as well.

The tokens may go to separate tables.

I can organize the token distribution for you.

So my questions are how many tokens, which tokens and to whom?

I would suggest the two heroic tokens (spellcasting) and (medic), but it’s up to you.

I can roll for the receiving tables, or you can advise me which one(s) you wish them to go to (low/medium/high tier; soldier/champion; GM Hawthwile’s table/GM Lorenzo’s table etc)

Please advise soonest ;)

So, though all of our characters can generate tokens, only 3 can be passed. Is that right?

I say pass the two heroic tokens to the fools that are playing champion level and the last one to a random soldier table. Medic sounds fine.

As for which one we receive, Marta would love a scouting token. Getting a flank is a huge win for her.

Only two tokens at this stage, Marta.

Yes, more clear indication of when we're supposed to actually roll would be good to!

Didn't realize that was an ask up above. =)
