Alright, for mission 1 how are people handling the Jeskraal?
They have Senses which include Scent. They do not have blindsense or blindsight based on it. So how far can they imprecisely sense via smell someone who is hiding?
I looked in CRB and Alien Archive 1 & 2. They talk about the range for Blindsense being default of 30’, but there isn’t anything for just plain scent.
If the characters seal their suit, does that prevent them from being detected by scent?
GM Bret |
Yes, the patrol would become aware of presence. Might as well have the players take their surprise round then, because the patrol is going to investigate.
The scenario talks of having the scent, warns the GMs to be aware of it for people trying to stealth -- which they are expected to do in that mission. To my knowledge, there isn't a way defined in Starfinder to negate aroma or otherwise cancel scent.
So either it is a waste of words talking about stealth because the scent will make the patrol aware or there is a limit on how close someone has to be for the Jeskraal to be able to become aware of them.
They may not know the precise location of the intruders, but the patrol is going to know that something is up. They should at that point investigate.
If I've a bad assumption, please point it out.
Lacking a better answer, I'm currently limiting it to 30', the same as the default range on blindsense.

Anyone need an Aid token currently. My table decided to boost and pass. If not it's a toss up between Hmm's table (1) and Dennis's table (2) as they haven't had a token for the longest time.
Which table?: 1d2 ⇒ 2
GM bigboom |
If an aid token becomes available, my players can use another. Thank you!

Two questions on Scout mission 1, which my group was in the middle of and is just now finishing.
Can I report the success as soon as they gather the intel?
Can they just run away from the second patrol instead of fighting them? It would speed things up considerably if they don’t have to do the combat.
Overseer Tyranius |
Once the PCs successfully complete four different reconnaissance tasks and overcome or avoid the subsequent encounter, they acquire enough information about the jinsul operations to report back to Zigvigix, and can escape the planet without incident.
I would think that as long as you can find a way to avoid it that it would count as the success. Whether you stealth through or tactfully retreat into hiding to escape should be fine.
GM Hmm |
Tyranius, has the Jinsul fleet moved at all during this special?
Overseer Tyranius |
GM Hmm |
Okay, thanks!
GM Sedoriku |
Question, for the seige defense area H10 says that the holes are too big to block up, but what about area H9? Can that be blocked or not?
GM Valen |
If the jinsul fleet moves during the mission, am I correct that the adverse effect ends?

Our group just closed Data Theft, Tyranius!
GM Aerondor |
If anyone has a spare aid token, my group of young Starfinders could really use some healing...
GM Hmm |
One coming your way, Aeronodor!
EDIT: It looks like one already went to Aerondor's table. If he does not need it, is there someone else in dire need?
GM Valen |
Just reported a success for Scanner Defense--wanted to get it in under the wire!
Overseer Tyranius |
Part 1 and Part 2 missions should be closed out as we transition into Part 3. Have Starfinders come in and finish off the baddies or rapidly retreat your team as ships land in to pick your groups up to return to the fleet.
You probably have most of a day to clean up what you need to as it will likely take some time for votes to come in.
GM Bret |
My table voted the other way and I expect will be bailing out of the starship combat as soon as they can.
They have a great pilot and good gunner, but still needed a little more in the way of Engineering and only the pilot had enough computers skill to do Science Officer. Magic Officer helped some, but still not quite the same.

I just followed the default rules on page 317 of the CRB:
In general, the GM decides when starship combat begins, where the combatants are, and which way their starships are facing. This might mean that both sides are facing each other from opposite sides of the grid. However, their relative positions and facing can also be established randomly. Roll 3d6+5 to determine how many hexes separate the opposing sides. If either side consists of more than one starship, this result is the distance between the highest-tier starship on one side of the battle and its counterpart on the other. Other starships should be placed within 3 hexes of an allied starship. Then, roll 1d6 for each group of starships to determine the facing of the starships in that group, with a 1 meaning the starships are facing the top edge of the grid, and with 2 through 6 proceeding clockwise around the hex.
GM Aerondor |
I'm assuming the initial facing would be toward each other, but apart from that, I'd go with BB.
I started out at max range within that guidance (i.e. 23 squares) - just because both sides kind of know the other is coming.

Just FYI, I took a look at the aid token sheet just now. Looks like one was passed to your table back on Apr 15. Sounds like it is time to use it!

Huh. Looking back, there's even a post in my Gameplay thread from April 15th that I either missed or forgot immediately. Never mind then! Thanks Bigboom!

My table could use some aid. The jinsuls ship is giving them a beating! (Doesn't help that they are mostly level 1 characters not built for starship combat)

I had thought that the person who boosted it at my table had posted that they had passed it on!

They did, I just missed it. Sorry!

Passing from one level 1-2 table to another.
Received, used and passed to GM Aerondor's table.
I removed one of the Boosts, since each token can only have one at a time.
Thanks!

So, do they get to repair shields between battles?
I know they can't repair hull damage or systems, but was wondering if they could at least get the shields back to full before starting the next battle.
GM Hmm |
Everyone, please remind your players they have the following advantages in this ship combat.
REROLLS ON THE TABLE
GM Bret reminded me we have TOWER INTEL.
Tower Intel: When the Overseer GM announces that the Tower Intel condition is in effect, the PCs receive a flood of data from the secured scanning towers. Once per encounter for the remainder of the scenario, each PC can roll twice on any Intelligence-, Wisdom-, or Charisma-based skill check or starship combat check and take the better result.
That's once per encounter for each player -- and I'm sorry I missed it before, because this makes a HUGE difference.
Yuluzak: Those who slotted Yuluzak's help get quite a bit of aid here. Yuluzak helps the PCs engage the jinsul starship by running interference. Each round, the PC can choose between two benefits: either negate the hazard's negative effect on their starship, or reroll one gunnery check a PC attempts that round. The reroll benefit can be used only twice during this adventure. That's two rerolls that can be used to make sure those gunnery shots hit!

Also don't forget the possible boost from Celita from the beginning!
