I am guessing Rhyss left Triaxus about 40-45 years ago (as the planet was entering its generational winter), so there is a better chance he knew your father—perhaps as an on-call medic or orderly supporting the Legion...
Sounds good! Maybe we'll have to play out realizing the connection early in the campaign.
Here's what I'm thinking for Xevras's background:
How, exactly, Xevras came to adore technology given this background isn't clear, even to him. While his father wasn't particularly pleased to find his young son disassembling comm units and downloading blueprints from the Infosphere, he didn't actively discourage him. Instead he tried to encourage the young dragonkin to take an interest in athletic and martial pursuits.
In the end, Xevras came to like both, developing a philosophy of pursuing both physical and mental improvement in tandem.
With the skills of both a warrior and an engineer, he left to pursue further education, soon finding he had a talent for Technomancy. He excelled in his studies and was almost disappointed when he finished. He hired out here and there for a couple of years, further honing his skills, when he heard of Ikirit. Recognizing an opportunity to both satisfy his thirst for knowledge and apply his size, strength, and magic, he booked passage to the colony.

Kind of got inspired to write more of Flux's backstory after reading The Lion Cleric's backstory for their character.
Around 12am
Dr. Alphonse Halvale's day had been blessfully serene. His team had been getting some interesting results from this week's readings of the engimatic beings called the Dreamers. and the petty squables between his team and some the gas-miners seemed to have thankfully calmed down for the time being. So, Dr. Halvale was more than alittle upset when he awoke to the sound of someone rapidly knocking at his door.
"Hey boss! Hey, are you awake? I gotta talk to ya about something! It's big, HUGE even. Could change everthing!", said the offender, its insistent crackly voice given it away instantly. With a heavy sigh, Dr. Halvale slowly made his way to the front door of his small apartment and cracked the door open just enough to see the small purple robot hanging on his door. "Flux, by Sarenrae's merciful light, if this is anything less than a Dreamer personally wishing to make contact with me, then I'm going back to bed."
"Naw, it's even better than that. I QUIT!" With a quick hop, the spider-legged robot landed on the ground and offered a handful of papers to his his supervisor. "What?!" Slamming his door open, Alphonse grabbed Flux by the arm and dragged him into his apartment. "You can't quit!"
Flux simply patted the suddenly stressed man on the shoulder as he spoke. "What are ya talking about? Course I can quit. Already filled out my two weeks right here, so everything is order. But, it ain't like its a permanent thing or something. I mean, the only reason I'm quiting is because I don't know how long I'll be gone. The dream was pretty vague, so finding out everthing could take awhile."
Slapping a hand against the wall, Alphonse braced himself as he felt his blood pressure spike. "You're quiting, throwing away years that you spent helping me research the Dreamers, because you had a dream?"
"Yeah...well not exactly. Boss, I know I told you about that dream with the earthquake and the huge city and the giant crater and the... well anyway I found it. I found the dream place! Its that new colony on Ikirit. It has the city, the crater, everthing. This means the Dreamers finally asked ME a question, ME! After all these years of me asking them stuff and they finally want me to help them with something. So, I gotta go find out what happened on Ikirit so I can tell my Dream Pals."
Massaging his temples, Dr. Halvale could only glare at the annoyingly upbeat automaton as it bounced in place in barely contained excitement. "...Fine. Go waste everyone's time frolicking on some distant blighting planet because of some dream that the Dreamer, who nobody has ever spoken to, maybe gave you. But if you come back here with anything less than ground-breaking insight into our research, I'll personally sell you for scrap."
"Geeze boss, kinda harsh ain't ya. Well, whatever. I know the Dreamers want me on Ikirit and I know that whatever's there is has to be important for our research. I'll make ya proud, just trust ya buddy Flux!"

I've got the good doctor's profile Here. It's not quite completely finished, but it should do the trick. I'll follow up and add an appearance tab soon. Went with general duergar/svifrneblin look for the Ferrans.

leinathan |

Hey, I found it again! This seems like a fun writing exercise, let's see what I can pop out. It's late, but I'd love to put some daytime thought to this!
I'm interested in people who are there for extremely personal (not professional) reasons, people who are scrappy and tough and probably uneducated. I'll take a gander through the list of aliens and see if anything pops out at me.

Perhaps an android operative who was built as a "companion" or "pleasure unit". She was liberated by android freedom fighters, but then didn't really know what to do in order to take care of herself. She went through a period of poverty and desperation, taking care of herself on her own. Then she heard of a mission to a far-flung newly-discovered planet that presented new opportunities. Perhaps a friend told her about all of the expensive colonization equipment that was available to be stolen. She stowed away on a supply vessel, hoping to 'start over' someplace less ruthless.

Gotten delayed by holiday stuff...and Warframe, I won't lie.
I'm also not sure if I should switch to another species since The Lion Cleric hit the Ferran Colonist concept out of the park with Dr. Kjestis! ;)

By all means, don't - I got hooked onto that by your idea! Like I said, I went with the idea that the Ferrans need another home, and your concept of someone who decided to take another way to that and mine would be a great RP opportunity, I think. Especially if the two know each other from way back.

Back a week later because a had a new idea and ended up scrapping my entire character and making a new one. :/

Republic of Sovyrian Official Death Report
Medical Examiner: Dr. Calrana Marillor
Name of Decedent: Alriel Taldara
Species: Elf
Age: 113
Place of Death: Divination Room, Zelenye Arcane University, El
Date: 9 Sarenith, 305 AG
Cause: Decedent seems to have suffered complete brain death, causing his lungs, heart, & other organs to cease functioning shortly thereafter. Cause is likely magical backlash from a failed divination experiment conducted by Alriel & his ysoki associate Kib, both students at the University, using a scyring pool. Kib, once conscious, described their experiment as an attempt to study the Gap by using the scrying pool not to view a different place, but a “alternate timeline” in which different events took place during the Gap. Certain arcane scholars hypothesize that the accident that occurred caused Alriel Taldara’s mind and soul to be pulled into the “alternate timeline” and an alternate version of himself, though there is insufficient evidence to prove this claim.
...
Journal 16 Sarenith, 305 AG
This place is weird. Admittedly, I don’t have any other alternate timelines to compare mine to, so for all I know all of them are just as strange, but I did not expect an entire planet to have disappeared and been replaced by a space station. Of course, I didn’t expect to be transported into this timeline either. I’ve noticed many other differences, especially in people’s behavior. The most interesting change is that my magic seems to function differently. I suspect this is a result of my mind and soul being dragged into another timeline, rather than a change to the fundamental laws of magic. I’ve compiled a list of changes and effects I’ve been able to produce below in hopes of being able to study this phenomenon further. Perhaps, given enough time, I can use this knowledge to develop a way to get back home.
…
Journal 10 Erastus, 305 AG
I’ve now fully realized the extent of the most disturbing difference of this timeline. The reduced numbers of non-elves at the University, as well as the behaviour of most elves toward them, have made it clear, even though I didn’t want to believe it. I’d assumed that welcoming of outsiders was a cornerstone of elven culture, but it seems I was wrong. Though I can’t be sure, I fear that it is my timeline’s acceptance of non-elves that is the anomaly, and not this one.
...
Federation of Sovyrian Official Death Report
Medical Examiner: Dr. Imellas Finwe
Name of Decedent: Alriel Taldara
Species: Elf
Age: 125
Place of Death: Divination Room, Nelanwe Arcane University, El
Date: 16 Rova, 317 AG
Cause: Decedent seems to have suffered complete brain death, causing his lungs, heart, & other organs to cease functioning shortly thereafter. Cause is some manner of magic, though the source is unclear. Magical investigation revealed lingering transmutation and divination auras around the corpse and a nearby scrying pool, but otherwise it is unknown what occurred, including whether this was a deliberate attack or some sort of magical accident.
...
Journal 20 Rova, 317 AG
My attempt to reach home has not only failed, it has backfired. Golarion is still gone, my magic is even stranger, and the elves are even more xenophobic, refusing to allow any non-elves in Sovyrian. I cannot continue to live among this culture. I’ll find some far-off colony world and travel there. It won’t be home, but no one will be home there, and it will be better than this.

I've decided to go with a Vangaurd of the Verthani of Verces Colonist.
His name translates to Vector, and he is acting as a sort of forward observer for his people. The Verthani are excellent at efficient usage of resources, but Vector believes that even their culture could break down.
He has traveled to Ikirit to investigate what caused this species to fall so that his own species could avoid those mistakes. Any resources he can gather for his people is just simply a bonus.
Under most circumstances the Verthani known as Vector would have joined the Stewards, but early on in his life he began a study of the Exoians taught Vector that any society could face a great disaster and collapse without warning.
This changed Vector's path, and he became an strong advocate of Verthani expansion. He began to advocate that the Verthani expand, or at the very least spread out a larger percentage of the population to other worlds.
He might have made a bit of a pest of himself, as when Ikirit opened he was offered the opportunity to 'pre-scout'the planet to see if the Verthani could thrive there.
Vector realizes that he's been essentially sent away to stop getting underfoot, but darn it, he's going to do the best job possible and prove his point anyway!"

Balazar crossed the mist-blanketed street nonchalantly, weaving behind a slow-moving hover-lorry before stepping up onto the sidewalk and pausing. He glanced around, appearing to check his bearings, but actually to make sure he wasn't being followed. The lorry blared its horn and its driver shouted something rude, but everyone else on the street seemed... normal.
Confident, Balazar continued walking and searched the satchel he'd lifted from a mark by Dock 88. Some gloves. An opened pack of apple gum. A pamphlet for some colony called Ikirit. A cred stick!
Balazar breathed a small sigh of relief. Down to a handful of credits, he needed the money badly. He surreptitiously stowed the credstick into his arm's hideaway and rounded the corner into an alley...
... nose-first into the armored chest of a huge man.
As Balazar recoiled, holding his nose and blinking away the tears, the hulk made a pleased grunt. "Smith."
Balazar finally cleared his vision but he already knew the voice. He groaned inwardly. "Its Smy-the, Brik," he corrected the brute, hopelessly.
"Julz wants his money. Now," Brik grunted, grabbing Balazar. His hulk hand completely engulfed Balazar's shoulder. By reflex, Balazar deftly twisted away before Brik could tighten his considerable grip. Brik grinned, somewhat pleased by the resistance. He escalated by pulling an arc pistol.
Before he knew what he was doing, Balazar made a grab for the weapon. The quick snatch caught Brik by surprise, but the brute reacted without pause, ham-sized fist leading the way. Balazar ducked, rolled and came up in a crouch, pistol aimed at Brik. "Now, why don't we talk this--"
It just went off. A crackling bolt slammed into Brik's chest. The brute fell, body jerking spasmodically as electric arcs raced across his armor.
Balazar stared at the pistol, wide-eyed and hand starting to shake.
"Y-y-your dead, S-smith," Brik stammered through his clenched teeth. The brute twitched from another spasm. "G-g-gonna f-find you!" He started to sit up.
Balazar ran as fast as his feet would carry him. Ikirit, was it? Sounds good...
***
Balazar was raised in a comfortable home in Drifter's End on Absalom Station. His parents managed a prestigious hotel catering to the many diplomats and dignitaries visiting the station, as well as a number of ranking Starfinders. As a child, constantly surrounded by society's elites, Balazar learned to act and infiltrate. As he grew up, he was clever and skilled enough to follow nearly any profession, but he always gravitated towards his primary talent: trouble.
Balazar's charm and quick wit often led him into situations before smarts or good sense could rescue him. What started as games and pranks became tricks and cons. He lost friends, fell in with a bad crowd, and eventually got busted by the authorities. His parents disowned him, severing what little tie remained to normal society.
For the last half-decade, Balazar has survived, drifting between neighborhoods of Absalom Station, only staying in one place as long as necessary. Like an addict, he cannot resist trying another con, even if good sense and prudence would prove more beneficial in the long term. His talents are good enough to keep him clothed and fed, occasionally boarded, but as he burns more and more people, the station gets steadily smaller.
Please let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, etc!

I've gotten the lion's share of my submission's stats completed.
Here she is: Rokayla Vonarx, Ratheren expatriate, Proto-Sol of the Order of the Empty Orbit and Starfinder Society Junior member!
Her life on Absalom Station was largely a series of disappointments and course-corrections. She tried and failed to establish a ferran commune, attempted to join the Starfinder Society multiple times, and had a brief spiritual phase where she trained with the Order of the Empty Orbit, and immediately left as soon as she manifested a dark stellar mote, bringing back uncomfortable memories of home and the Maw.
Steadily, however, things started to click into place. She was beginning to see the Cycle in her own life, how it shifted constantly from one form to another, even if there was no divine power guiding it...how the Maw was as much a part of the ferran identity even as it had nearly destroyed them...how if the ferrans had had some of the Order's wisdom they might not have made that fateful, terrible leap, and that to truly find peace, she needed to start actively seeking balance rather than drifting from one extreme to the next.
She returned to the Cosmonastery and completed her training, becoming a Proto-Sol, and moving on to complete her Commencement as a Starfinder. Almost immediately after, she learned about the colonization efforts on Ikirit, and realized this was the opportunity she'd been searching for. She gathered whatever relevant information she could and made her way back to Ratheren. While there was understandable consternation at the spiritual aspects of what she'd learned and lectures about toying with black holes in the exact same way Ferrantus had, Rokayla was surprised to find many more ferrans who agreed with her and offered support. One of those was Dr. Tjartka Kjestis, who took information Rokayla had brought from the Starfinder Society to convince the Consensus to allocate funding for Dr. Kjestis' project on Ikirit, and Rokayla was her first volunteer. Together, she felt, they'd be able to truly save the ferran people, leading them out of the past and into the future!

Just over 24 hours remaining and I am pretty impressed. Not an overwhelming flood of submissions, but every single one has been great so far. If you're still working on something, try to get done by tomorrow night! Anyone who has expressed interest will probably have a few extra days while I sort through submissions to finish up if necessary, but the sooner you get done, the better look I can give your application.

If I can still get in on this I would like to run a Nuar Soldier Law Enforcer. "Bull" is a long time veteran Sergeant of Commander Mehes. Known for being the one that gets tagged for the hardest jobs and training rookies. Well known and respected, he is an old fashioned, common sense cop. Large even for a Nuar, knows the areas of the region well. His lousy hours often annoy his landlady, a Ysoki everyone calls Auntie Bucket, she is the only one who dares to climb up on a crate to tell him off. Rictus dislikes him because he has arrested several of his enforcers over the years when they went over the line, but still will contact him when he needs an "unofficial" request for Commander Mehes.

Apologies for the delay. I've had a busier week than anticipated and my family is taking a trip this coming weekend. I'll be posting the party of 5 tomorrow and that should give a couple of days for me to finish checking over sheets and for people to discuss characters and get to know each other in discussion before hopefully starting next week.

The Faceless GM |

Alright, thank you for your patience everyone. And thank you for all of the amazing characters. This was a particularly hard group to narrow down, but without further ado, the characters will be...
- Rokayla Vonarx, ferran junior Starfinder
- Balazar Smythe, 'professor of esoteric studies'
- Xevras, dragonkin technologist
- Flux, SRO dream prophet on a mission
- Dr. Tjartka Kjestis, ferran medic and researcher
I shall have discussion open later hopefully, or tomorrow if I get distracted tonight.
