It looks like we have 2 TBD so I was hoping the players who had decided on what to play could let us know a bit about their character to help us balance the party. We seem to have

Keriassa Skald/Paladin (Presumably frontliner and party face)
Narayan Singh Unchained Monk (Presumably frontliner)
TREE Slayer (Slayers can go in many directions though I suspect frontliner.)
Boros Anwemane Inquisitor (Lots of possibilities. A R/W haster perhaps.)

I have a few options in range.

A level 9 mounted Hunter. Him and his Rhino do massive damage in melee but are a pain to play online due to being built around aoos.

A level 10 strength based Unchained Monk with Holy AoMF and Greater Grapple. Is good at Disable Device but doesn't have Trapspotter.

A level 10 archery based Slayer with good Disable Device and Trapspotter.

A level 11 bomb throwing Alchemist with wings.

Hello Group! I'm excited to be joining with you in the fun!

So Boros is my Callistrian Inquisitor - he is archer focused. Long range damage, a bit of a selfish buffer, but definitely has some possibilities to help the group. Primarily he is a damage dealer though, If he can stand still and get a full volley off he can dish out some serious pain. As a trade off, he is a bit of a glass cannon, so I generally try to keep him out of harm's way.

Personally I am willing to take the risk of running a level 9 character in a scenario set up for 10 and 11th level. The out of tier gold is worth the risk, and I am confident that Boros can pull his weight.

Really looking forward to this! I do enjoy playing this toon on the boards!

Just some thoughts about 'party balance' - when it comes to a fight I personally don't put as much stock into party balance, especially at this level. We should all have lots of ways to deal with lots of threats, so playing off of each other even if we are melee heavy shouldn't hold us back.

IMO - based on the PFS history I do have, where we want at least try to be balanced is around skills. Basically having as many as possible so we at least have a chance when it comes to skill checks.

Boros has high bonuses in Perception, Sense Motive, Stealth, Fly, and Intimidate (which is less useful in PFS out of combat, and not always very useful in combat without the right feats/abilities).

I have a small bonus in Know (religion) - but in general inquisitors aren't known for being heavy in the skill points.

@Bigguyinblack - I say play whatever character sounds like the most fun to you. I'm pretty certain we will have a blast no matter what. If you want to nitpick because they are all fun, I would guess that your alchemist has the best chance at having lots of knowledges and other skills that would be useful, plus bombs are always fun, and flying is even more fun :)


I'll narrow it down like so.

If no one at the table is good at Disable Device I'll play my Slayer.
If someone is good at Disable Device but we are low on Knowledges I'll play my Alchemist.
If the table has both covered I'll play my unchained monk.

Keriassa (Keri for short) is a paladin of Erastil, so she is a ranged character (longbow, of course). Defiantly can be a party face (Diplomacy and Sense Motive +22) and passable on knowledge skills (+11). Generally sings (speaks) to give raging song (with Reckless Abandon and Guarded Life attached).

Can also supplement the party with some spells such as Glitterdust, Saving Finale, Liberating Command, and Heroism.

I will also be leveling to 11 prior to the game.

Sounds like Sparky will be the most useful option.

Sparky adds a +3 circumstance bonus to everyone's Day Job checks.

Sparky is a high ranking member of The Exchange.
He tosses Explosive bombs or Force bombs selecting out allies.
And not that long ago he bought a wand of Haste that he keeps in a spring loaded wrist sheath. It is only 5 targets for 5 rounds so in this group someone might get left out.

He also can hand out his extractions. Here is his list.

Just remember that you must spend a move action to pull an extract and a standard action to drink it. No point in asking for 5 different extracts if you don't plan to spend the actions to use them. For that reason I often get asked for the longer duration buffs. Though Improved Invisibility would make things easier for TREE.

Sparky - I just noticed your comment about haste. Boros is all set, I have boots of speed so I can give myself haste for 10 rounds.

Also - what are alchemical arrows? Not sure I have heard of those... Unless you are talking about blanching... I would happily take more of those to help stock up. I generally try to carry a full assortment.

Heroism and True Strike would be amaze-balls, though I don't always have the action economy to use them.

I know multi-table specials can sometimes be taxing on daily uses, and can pull that thing where encounters are each like 10 minutes apart so minute/level buffs are essentially gone after each fight, so while I'll happily take whatever you're offering, I wanted to make sure not to be that monk :-p

Oh, and just bookkeeping-wise. Narayan will often put up buffs from his wands. Mage Armor lasts an hour, and will be up anytime he thinks combat is reasonably possible, Heightened Awareness is 10 minutes, and he's pretty liberal with that too (He will burn it for +4 Initiative every time possible). Since Shield and Magic Weapon only lasts a minute, he's much more likely to do that if we're approaching any kind of dungeon-y thing, or any place where he knows a fight is likely. While heroism is up he'll auto-pass UMD checks for his wands.

Just trying to call that out since it's common (and correct!) in a fast-moving special for an approach post to roll right into Initiative, so I figure if I set up his typical thresholds for wand-use now, I'll feel better about asking if I could have already used them :-)

From Alchemy Manual. Special use arrows.

Commonly used ones include Tangleshot arrows (Deals no damage but causes Entangled condition)
Durable Arrows (Mostly for Adamantium)
And Pheromone Arrows (Grants animals with scent +2 to hit and damage the target.)

As for haste, This is a special so your boots could easily run out. I'll figure out who to Haste and you can use your boots if you beat me on initiative or I leave you out of the Haste.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause, but we want all our GMs to have a chance to shine.

Well that sucks about the delay. Maybe we can just do some pre-game RP in the gameplay thread? Does this scenario start in Absalom? (not that it really matters) we can all just pretend we are sitting around a table at the bar in the lodge. IF the GM doesn't mind, I'll even kick it off!

Bookkeeping note for the GM - I was organizing Boros' paperwork this morning and realized I've made a mistake. Kinda like finding a $5 in your pocket... I never gave myself credit for a scenario I played in while I was at GenCon 2016 in my hero lab. I probably went over it a half a dozen times trying to add everything up... So just a minor thing, Boros just spent 60gp - 10gp on arrows and 50gp on enough silver and cold iron blanch to treat some of them.

I'll have to figure out what my fame and prestige levels are when I get home and can access hero lab.

BOONS
Once during this adventure before attempting a Will save, one PC can roll twice and choose the better result.

The repair team, grateful for the your aid, provides each of you with a potion of cure serious wounds. They also provides each of you with an additional potion of your choice up to 3rd-level. Between encounters, you may purchase items from the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook or Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Equipment with a price of 1,500 gp or less.

Once during the adventure, any of you can choose to re-roll a failed skill check made as part of their movement (such as Acrobatics, Climb, or Fly).

Each time the PCs attempt a Knowledge check to identify a creature in the tapestry, one PC can choose to gain a +2 bonus on the check.
Once during the scenario, each PC can roll twice and take the better result instead of gaining a +2 bonus.
Instead of rolling the Knowledge check twice to identify the creature (see above), you can treat their result as they had rolled a 20.
Alternatively, the PC may gain the benefits of the Average result while treating the Knowledge skill as trained.

Once during the adventure, one of you can roll twice with an additional +2 bonus to a Charisma-based skill check made when interacting with a creature in the tapestry.

Once during the adventure, one PC can reroll any one d20 roll (even if you know the original roll was a failure)

Don't need Fly. I'll take a potion of Water Breathing.

Mission 1 could be very easy for us. And ;luckily I have a wand with 4 charges of Restoration in case something goes wrong.

Mission 2 sounds like it will require acrobatics and/or athletics checks. And combat.

Mission 3 might be a diplomacy mission. With maybe some tests of some sort to prove ourselves.

Mission 4 should be easy as long as we have enough Daylight oil.

Mission 5 sounds like diplomacy.

Mission 6 might be Kn Engineering or Crafting with some fighting.

The nature of specials usually hoses prepared casters. They either have to prepare with a supernatural knowledge of what was needed or have useless spells for the day. It is even worse for Alchemists because they are often choosing based on what specific party members need instead of what enemies we will face.

I'll have a list of generally useful extracts and if needed will narrow it down the next day. Here is what I have. Sparky will go over them and pass them out before we go through.

1st Comprehend Languages x2, Shield x3, Enlarge Person, Longarm x2
2nd Barkskin x2, Alchemical Allocation x2, See Invisibility, Investigative Mind

I'll take a potion of displacement for my free potion.

I'm good with doing any of the missions. 1 and 2 sound like the most fun to me.

Voting like this can take a ton of time over PbP - so we need to make sure we have a way to not slow things down. It looks to me like Mission #1 has the most support to start from.

Why don't we do this -

And then decide what to do next if we make it that far. Sound ok?
