Exactly. It means you can be on the ground without making a dramatic entrance, but the heavy support will only be a few hours away.
Don't worry, it's not Battletech without 'mechs IMO, and frankly if I were doing a mechless BT game I would use a different system altogether, lol.
And I may as well just admit that you won't have any trouble on the way down, next post from me will basically be making planet fall and meeting Ling. Let you all get right down to business.

Definitely don't hesitate to post in combat. I've got the formatted init rolls in my notes ready to copy and paste for next time, that will help a lot.
I liked both how Wraith and Orpheus posted their attack rolls with the modifiers they knew in play. I don't really have an opinion of whether it is better to stick the info in the dice code or ooc tag. Whatever is clear and works is fine with me.
In more complex combats I will probably include round recaps of some sort to make it clear what is happening, but for minor/simple combats there may not be a need.
Any other thoughts or notes?

I find putting as much relevant information in the Dice Code to be very useful. It helps keep track of what dice you are rolling, and why, and even what the reasons and target are.
I try to avoid including ooc explanations as well just because it's more work, but sometimes a situation is so complex it just needs it.

I was pretty sure. It's been years. ;)
Side note - do none of us have a rank in computer to try the hack of her commlink? I mean, we can demand the password, but I'm thinking, given our objectives and mission overall, we'd best have at least one quasi-hacker-type with us.... (Maybe someone could swap out a skill point or three?)

Chang has computer. I'm sure he'll jump on as soon as he can.
On a side note, OMG this game has too many skills!!
As expensive and uncommon as skillpoints are, they have waaaaay too many skills. (Ugh, there's a -running- skill. In a game about mechs. Yes I know it might come up but they couldn't just lump that in with Acrobatics (along with Climb) and have done?)

Titian has computers of course (3 ranks)
So he has a pretty good chance with it. Also with security systems(1 rank) Just was driving to disneyland today.
Chang is better with security systems. So I guess if we two work together most security systems are our b.....
About interrogation.
My first paper for my chinese studies were medivial torture methods in the ming dynasty.
And I kept pretty up to date. Also helps being german. Having a very good ex interrogation crew from the east german republik to milk for information did help.
Forget what you have seen in the TV. Interrogation works usually really bad. You need some true experts to get some reliable information, but those are people in the same area as Dr. Mengele.
The Soviets were extremly good at it. But even they failed about 40%.
If you ever have someone from the CIA you can ask he will tell you that they were close to 14% success.

True torture requires time and resources, yeah. You really need to build a relationship.
That said, the quick cinematic, "tell us or we will XYZ," does help push stories along. I think if we keep it to the, 'beat them with a phone book until he spills' level and don't escalate to power tools and maiming I am okay.

The interrogate skill description basically says the skill isn't about how to hurt without killing, it's how to figure if what you're getting is truthful... And, of course, recommends taking the time to build rapport as being more likely to succeed but also time consuming. (So it's basically not arguing with the "torture doesn't work" reality... And very much validating the building rapport is the most effective party.. but, since it's an RPG and people have seen action movies and/or 24, or doesn't totally say it won't work.)
Essentially, the book reads like everything is a matter of GM-determined modifiers... int ops might have had more rules about that.
In this case, I think we don't need to offer more harm - she's pretty shaken and probably aware of how hurt she is. So, unless she's a true fanatic, access to medical care is probably an excellent bargaining chip. [Plus, Orpheus won't go along with torture - he'd put a burst of SMG rounds in her head before anyone starts making her scream - slapping her around, making threats, psych outs, all good..]
That said, there are some nice chems to make interrogation work in the BTech universe - I think it was the intelligence ops book that talked about it and said, basically, at the current tech in chems, if you've got access to them, it's not if you can break someone, but just a matter of time.

So what is the plan? lol
Legit negotiations, go in guns blazing, or something in between? Would you like to scout the building?
I did forget to relate something I've only hinted at but which Kyle's contact could have passed on: since they took Jenkins' place, that's where they've made camp, as it were. Their heavy gear and best warriors are there. It is a scrapyard like Ling's place is.

I...am actually going to agree with that. No matter how pivotal a role a character is playing, I've learned to never never never delay an entire game due to someone's absence. Not only does it decrease the game's longevity, but it makes everyone else feel less important.

Yes, please, under no circumstances do I want you guys to hold up the game for me.

Sorry, tons going on, my woman's sick, new job, and this game is the most technically challenging. I'm trying to get a friend of mine to help provide facing. I forgot how we had set it up before.
Give me a few more days and we'll be in the middle of the first tactical combat.
So any thoughts on how we can pull this off? I'm thinking you'll need to summarize as you were doing, but including movement mode and total hexes moved type of thing, so:
Run, X hexes, firing blah blah, heat Y.

What do you see as the biggest problem?
Can you do it with a hex map?
(your question was kinda vague so I'm just trying to narrow it down before I start spouting off a bunch of advice that you don't actually need. ^_^)

DM Dickie wrote:If you have stumbled on this thread just now and are sorry to have missed things, I'm honestly working on A) a Starfinder conversion of some sort for the heck of it using new classes and replacing species with human or clan phenotypes, and
Of note I got to working on a Savage Worlds SCi-Fi conversion for Battletech.
If you're going to do all the work of converting it, why not try a new (and much, much easier to learn and play) system? Let me know if you wanna collaborate.
So, I've completed my SW BT conversion, and I'm running a test fight here to work out the bugs.
If any of you would be interested in something like that, I'll put you on the invite-only short list when I get the campaign up and going.
