Is it possible to transfer fusions to new weapons in SFS? I know fusion seals are a thing, but they have pretty tight restrictions on what weapons they can be applied to (at least as I understand them).
Here's what I'm thinking, and maybe you all can help me out:
I'd like to put a few fusions on my new longarm, a Pulse Statccato Rifle (lvl 4 weapon). I want to put Inspiring (lvl 2 fusion), Trailblazer (lvl 1 fusion), and Called (lvl 1 fusion) on it. Could I later use Mysticism to transfer those fusions to a Surge Staccato Rifle (lvl 9 weapon) at half cost? Or do I have to stick to fusion seals?
The other part of this question is whether I'm misunderstanding how fusion seals work. From how I'm reading the rules on fusion seals, it goes like this-- Suppose you have a Trailblazer fusion seal (4th), which is a 4th level item. That means you can apply this seal to a weapon of 4th level or lower. However, the rules also state,
"A fusion seal can't be added to a weapon if doing so would cause the weapon's total level of fusions (including the level of the fusion seal) to exceed its item level or if the weapon is not a legitimate choice for the fusion within the fusion seal."
To me, this means that I could apply this seal to a weapon of 4th level, which is the max allowed by the fusion seal (4th), but I could not apply it to a weapon of 3rd level or less, because the level of the fusion seal would then exceed the item level of the weapon. Does that make sense? Am I reading that totally wrong?
tl;dr - I'm dumb. Please help!

Sorry for the bad timing, but I guess I didn't plan forward well enough. I would be on vacation from tomorrow for a week until the following Sunday. Please bot where necessary. I have botting instructions on his profile page. I've left instructions primarily for Speck to use his weapons, but feel free to use his spells as well, depending on the situation.

Okay, after some thought and further advice from various folks, here are some purchases:
BOUGHT Staccato Pulse Rifle (2000cr)
BOUGHT Inspiring Fusion on 4th level weapon (680cr)
SOLD Second Skin (+25cr)

Looks like I misspoke earlier, mostly because I didn't read the bloody item entry before answering. That will always bite me in the... skidplate.
So there are 2 'levels' for fusions/seals. There is the Item Level of the Fusion itself, which is fixed based on the fusion, and the weapon level that the Fusion is purchased for. If you buy a fusion, the cost depends on both the level of the Fusion, and the Weapon Level that it is being attached to. A weapon cannot accept a Fusion with an Item Level higher than the weapon. A weapon can have multiple Fusions attached so long as the sum of all of the Item Levels does not exceed the weapon level.
For a Fusion Seal you buy it for the max weapon level you foresee yourself attaching it to. The cost is that of a normal fusion +10%. You can freely switch it between weapons so long as the normal rules for applying fusions are followed. The Fusion Seal's item level is the same as the base fusion. The max item level it can be attached to does not affect the Fusion Seal's item level, although it does affect the cost.
For your previous example, a Trailblazer fusion (now that I've looked it up) is a 1st level Item. If you buy it as a fusion seal for your 4th level weapon, you could only freely transfer it between 4th level or lower weapons. If you want to be able to freely move it to your 9th level gun later you'd need to buy it as a fusion seal able to equip to 9th level items, which costs 2600 * 1.1 = 2860 credits. As you progress, you would be able to freely move it from item to item so long as it can accept the base level of that fusion, which for the trailblazer would be 1.
As for transferring fusions... something still seems really wrong about my reading of that section, so I'll ask around. By my reading it seems as though you can tear a weapon fusion off of an old weapon and put it on a new one, paying 50% of the price of the fusion using the new weapon level to determine price. This makes little sense to me since it implies you could tear a Trailblazer fusion off of a level 1 item (120 cred item) and put it onto a level 9 item paying 50% of the level 9 item cost (50% * 2600 cred = 1300 cred). If my reading was correct, that'd mean if you are trained in the skills required to move fusions, it's cheaper to buy a level 1 fusion and move it than it is to buy a level 9 fusion. I'm going to assume that I'm completely wrong with that reading and go fish around for answers. In the meanwhile, everyone go ahead and post in gameplay. We'll get started, and I'll let you retcon fusion related purchases as I learn more.

Thanks for the feedback on that, GM! I talked to some folks about it over the weekend too, and that seems to be their understanding as well. The whole thing with transferring fusions seems like a bit of an exploit, which is interesting, but I guess it makes some sense since it does require training in a particular set of skills.
If you do find anything further on that, I'd love to learn more! Thanks again for the help!

Sorry! I thought I had given you all the info! I can’t fill the form out at the second from my phone but will do it when I get home from work!
I think the number is 104845-704

And that brings us to the conclusion of the scenario. I'll wrap up chronicles and reporting tonight. I hope you all enjoyed the scenario as much as I did when I played it.
If anyone is looking for other tier 3-6 adventures, I'll be running SFS 1-06: A Night in Nightarch as a part of GameDay VIII starting at the end of August.
If any of you are interested, signups are here.

Outstanding playing with you all, and thanks especially to our GM for running a great game!
I really wish I could take you up on that offer to play Night in Nightarch, but I've already got my dance card pretty full for the Gameday. Looking forward to playing with/under all of you again soon, though!

Sorry about not having that up Both, really thought I did. And thank you for running, it was fun!

![]() |

Yeah, rad game all! This scenario was sweet, especially with all the revelations around the Scoured Stars and what happened there. And the final boss encounter was a super cool design despite Fionne rolling awfully against it (and really not being well suited to fighting it anyhow).
Fun playing with you guys. Hope my Fionne roleplaying has helped spread the joys of reckless enthusiasm and excessive explosions to all~
As for 1-06, Unfortunately I've already played that one.

Let me know if there are any errors. If you ever lose a chronicle from a game I GM'd on the boards, PM me as there's a good chance I still have it.

Sorry but Speck rolled for his day job in this post. Sorry for missing it the first time. Rolled an 18.

![]() |

Thanks, GM! Chronicle looks good!

The Bot Behind the Screen |

Sorry but Speck rolled for his day job in this post. Sorry for missing it the first time. Rolled an 18.
Whoops! I'll update that tonight.
That being said, with the cancellation of the GD7 SFS Special, I opted to move my game of Night at Nightarch out of the GameDay and into the wild. If any of you just had your dance card freed up and don't mind a lack of boon support, my recruitment is still open and the start date might be an awful lot sooner.

![]() |

Thanks for the chronicle GM! Could you correct Fionne's character number to 704? I posted the correction earlier, but it looks like you might've missed the post.

![]() |

Aw heck, ya got me, GM! Signing up for your Night in Nightarch game!

![]() |

I have already played it, or I would love to Bot. Thank you, though and I hope the game goes awesomely!
