Skyfall- An Only war story

Game Master Solar27

Map of current fight
This is a Warhammer 40K story set on the world of Skyfall, where 5,000 years ago demons and angels warred in the heavens and broke the sky. Now pieces of that war rain down upon the land and you are the Scavanger teams sent to reclaim those pieces of lost technology that might survive, from an area called the Skybreak.

This is your life and it's not an easy one, the Skybreak takes as much as it gives but it gave you hope of better times.

At least it did, until they came

I just realised that Scrutiny should have cost me 200xp, not 100xp.

So 100xp goes into paying that debt and the other 100xp into raising Agility to 49.

You can make a cart for the Talkspire without any rolls. With 5 people assisting and the +10 from resourceful it would be a +60 at least.

Unless anyone has anything more to add to this scene I've move things along shortly

Ogryn

Sounds good boss. Dunc is more than happy pulling the travois.

@Davien Psyniscience is a skill that is based off perception.
I'll give it to you this time but in future make a roll first

Ogryn

Sorry guys...

I'll give everyone a chance to react to this

Ogryn

Sounds like a plan. Ogryn got to Ogryn.

I'm assuming your all on your Ants for now. Here's all the actions that thee are hard rules for

Skyfall Ants
Canter= 5/10 meters (half or full action)
Crushing Charge=20m
Evasive Riding=-5 Survival test move 20m
Gallop=+0 Survival 60m +5 for each DOS
Mount/Dismount=+30 (Survival) when in combat
Rearing Strike=-7 (Survival) Hit the target with pincers
Sidestep=-25 (Survival) to dodge an attack
Soaring Leap=-5 run and leap up to 3m (+1 per DOS) over obsitcal
Strike and Fade= move up to 5m and make a -10 WS test to hit it with a weapon. Then move up to 5m (10m if the target was unaware)

The minions and Psyker get a surprise round against everyone but Jak.
I'll wait until he posts

What is the scale of the current map?

Also, can I tell which of the auspex pings is the one who spoke?

1m per square and no

I forgot that the Ants have Quadruped so double all the movement values in my above post about them

Ogryn

notch, you forgot your damage.

@GM: Could you add a link to the map in the description at the top of the page? It would make referring to it a lot more straightforward.

Done.
Your mounts have a total toughness+armour bonus of 7
Just realised I skipped Duncan, edited my post to remove the minions actions

Ogryn

All good, I didn't notice the skip either, doesn't change the action.

Krevlor you may want to read my opening gameplay post again

Ogryn

We are the evil genestealer cult, the pylon was warning about us. Easily missed or forgotten as it isn't normal to be playing from this end, I've just been working under the assumption we are uninfected rubes until I get told we have a brood lord or magus running things in plain sight.

Medic. FP: 0/1, Wounds 9/9. TB: 3. Armour: 4.

That did not click with me... it should have but it did not.

Ogryn

Like I said, easy to miss. If I wasn't a nids player I probably would have missed it completely myself.

Your characters know this:You are human (or abhuman) and that the lower classes (i.e. you lot) rarely interact with the nobility of this planet.

Also for those interested in fashion masks and thick cloaks are extremely popular with the nobility. Hunching is common but the same can be said of most the enginseers.
Purple is currently the new black.

Anything else is out of character knowledge

Ogryn

Four arm Empra' hep Dunc find shinies, amen.

I had totally missed it as well.

I was looking forward to seeing how things go in this campaign.

Now I'm even more so!

Male Human Tech-Priest Enginseer | Wounds: 8/13 | Armor rating: (Body 6)(Head 4)(Arms/Legs 2) | Fate: 3/3 |

Yeah .. I completely missed that also...

Ogryn put all points into forbidden knowledge tyranid organism codex. The one character where I will never be able to use any of my metaknowledge, this is why I chose Ogryn.

I was trying to keep this a secret a litte while longer while planting enough evidence so that the reveal wouldn't be too shocking. I was aiming for a game of thrones style reveal, shocking but completely logical in hindsight.
I had a few more seeds to plant before you were meant to figure it out

Ogryn

Um... oops. Sorry boss.

...I'm working on a Genestealler Cult Kill Team so I've no excuse. I call them the Salvation Army... My Deathguard Kill Team are called the Soggy Bottom Boys so at least the GSC get a less silly name.

I for one think those nobles are swell guys, I'd gladly lay down my life for them.

Jak and Davien your up next

@All: My free time is going to be quite limited over Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I might be able to post later on over the three days, but I can't guarantee that I'll be able to.

I'll be busy over the weekend as well so there won't be any updates until monday.
@Davien I'm looking to post the next round of this fight tonight. If I don't hear from you before that I'm botting you for this round

Ogryn

Yeah Krev, I have been meaning to get into kill teams. I have a few first generation screamer killers that might be funny to use.

This is my first play by post game so since we're nearing the end of this fight and the arc does anyone have any feedback they'd like to give me about the style of this game?
Things you liked, clunkyness that could be smoothed out etc...

| 1 IP | 2 CP WS 31 BS 36 S 28 T 26 Ag 54 Int 34 Per 35 Wp 36 Fel 28 Wounds: 10/10 | Fatigue: 0 | Critical Damage: None | Fate Points 0/1 | Init +4 | Armour 4 body, 4 head and arms|

Being very clear on who needs to post is always helpful. Feel free to say "Party up." or something like that if everyone is up, or specifically say who needs to post. I know I've managed to miss that people were waiting on me to post in the past, so all reminders and prompts are welcome in my book.

I say feel free to bot if a player takes too long to respond. They may have gotten unexpectedly busy or just dropped out (hopefully not!).

So there's only one minion left so we can do the next bit narratively.
In future I'll colour code the enemies so can everyone declare the colour of the enemy that your attacking.
@Notch thanks for the feedback. I'll keep that in mind

Ogryn

If everyone doesn't kill the minion, Duncan can grab him in a bear hug. Or we can just kill him, either option is fine by me.

This was supposed to be here and not in play.

Just a reminder, your Ants have a paralyzing venom that's useful for capturing enemies

You want us to hash it out in combat, or do you wanna just say he gets swarmed by the ants?

Just give me damage roll to see if the ants kill him or Duncan squeezes him to death

Ogryn

Dunc has been asked to hold the one that got dominated, he isn't planning on squeezing the life out of him unless he struggles.

Ogryn

Not sure how I want to play this. On the one hand, Emprah of Man. On the other hand, I could see Duncan never being convinced that fo' arm emprah is wrong emprah.

Don't worry. I have a few secrets that you haven't (yet) figured out that might change his mind. |It's also fine (narratively) for an Ogyrn to have difficulty accepting new information, even if Duncan is one of the smarter ones

Male Human Tech-Priest Enginseer | Wounds: 8/13 | Armor rating: (Body 6)(Head 4)(Arms/Legs 2) | Fate: 3/3 |

I am loving your portrayal of Dunc. He really is one of the smarter Ogryn...

Ogryn

He is honestly not that smart. Just simple and honest, happens to be real good at the whole survival thing. I just figure he is used to being a beast of burden and is more like a good tempered mule that can talk.

I mean, all the lore says they are like overly large six year olds so...

Ogryn

I don't know how I managed to miss the fact the soldier got out from my hands and started shooting. I guess Dunc got distracted by a new bed time story.

Male Human Tech-Priest Enginseer | Wounds: 8/13 | Armor rating: (Body 6)(Head 4)(Arms/Legs 2) | Fate: 3/3 |

Lol, I was not saying that he was smart on the whole spectrum of intelligence, just that on the Ogryn spectrum he was one of the smarter ones...

Ogryn

I can accept that. At some point I can get the Bone 'ead which might be fun.
