Day 4

The party walks down to the tavern area for breakfast. A small man holds a short sword threateningly at Hulester while a goblin pins your informant down. A second goblin has pinned Riaen behind the bar. The man has light blue skin and long white hair that never seems to stop moving about as if it was being blown by a chill win. A pair of too large wolves flanks the air genasi with a short sword and all eyes falls on the party as if they have just sat on the wrong pew.

Rinika has heard of an air genasi that works with goblins and has pet wolves. His name is Ivth Nanright, unaffiliated with any faction but will hire out to the highest bidder. He does investigative work but is ruthless and more often than not will silence sources to deter competition.

Jek delicately makes his way down the stairs and finds the group at an impasse. An air genasi working with goblins and wolves? That seems a bit... Jek caught himself. That wasn't fair. He also kept strange company.

With Vaascht giddy to murder someone before breakfast, Jek decides it would be a good idea to have his lance ready.

If you can cast from 2 squares to the right and one square up, you can aim NW to keep Hulester out of it and hit the 4 enemies ^^

One of the wolves, one of the goblins, and Hulester both look directly into the rainbow pattern of light effulgently glowing from Vaascht’s outstretched hand. They all begin to sway about, incoherent. Stunned for 1 round. As the fight begins in earnest the goblin and wolf eyes begin to smolder orange. This is when Vaascht and Nik start adding some facts together, the wolf and goblin’s surprising resilience, a singular goblin’s ability to strongarm a human who looks like he knows his way out of a headlock. Both the wolves and goblins are the same type of creature, barghest whelps. Barghests are fiends native to the four furnaces of Gehenna. They send their young to the prime material plane to hunt and grow strong. When they mature they develop the ability to plane shift back to Gehenna and take their place among their kind. Barghest whelps in humanoid form are normally indistinguishable from a common goblin but are far stronger and hardier. They also have the ability to transform into wolves or dogs. How Ivth managed to make four barghest whelps subordinate to him is a mystery too large for Vaascht and Nik to think about in the space of a few seconds.

Evil outsiders, change shape (goblin or wolf only), and Feed: Once per month, a barghest whelp can devour a nonevil humanoid's corpse as a full-round action to gain a growth point. It gains a bonus equal to its growth point total on attack rolls, CMB rolls, saving throws, and skill checks. Its maximum hit points increase by 5 for each growth point it gains. For every 2 growth points, a barghest whelp’s caster level for its spell-like abilities and its CR increase by +1. When a barghest whelp reaches 4 growth points, it sheds its skin and becomes a barghest, losing all of its growth points and bonuses.

The blind fight the blind as the wolf near Hulester digs its claws into him. Two of the whelps slip closer to Vaascht, obeying their boss. Vaascht catches a pair of claws with his Katana while the longsword is deflected sideways by some unseen force. Still two Vaascht finds his leg and bicep bitten causing thin rivulets of blood to stain his clothing. The goblin near Riaen finishes the job and the bartender slumps over unconscious. It moves into striking range of Jek, unintimidated by the table tossed across the room.

Jek's lance comes dangerously close to skewering the barghest's head, it had the presence of mind to move its dead before that happened.

Ivth says, "You're annoying me Aasimar. Silence!" He stands up. Those on and near the stairs don't notice it immediately but the sound of combat fades away. The crash of Jek's lance into a nearby chair, nothing. Hulester's complaints just him mouthing words for some reason.
