”Oh Jair! That was marvelous. I just wasn’t sure what we were going to do.“
Atum Shane
|
Zarta's performance was awesome! Even Atum was absent... Actually lets see how things will happen in the neibor room.
Atum not afraid of spiders, still being webbed not so convenient.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 1 = 11
Doru Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
After this, both elf and the flying head become fly's. And surely confused...
Confusion check round 2: 1d100 ⇒ 28
Confusion check round 3: 1d100 ⇒ 47
Confusion check round 4: 1d100 ⇒ 66
Confusion check round 5: 1d100 ⇒ 72
Doru Confusion check round 2: 1d100 ⇒ 69
Doru Confusion check round 3: 1d100 ⇒ 89
Doru Confusion check round 4: 1d100 ⇒ 3
Doru Confusion check round 5: 1d100 ⇒ 98
Doru Confusion check round 6: 1d100 ⇒ 81
Atum babbles for some time before becoming agressive towards his own body tryin to break left-hand fingers for: 1d8 - 2 + 1d8 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 + (7) - 2 = 4 DMG.
Meanwhile Doru becomes insane but web is to sticky,
I've got no idea how Doru can bite himself, unless he fall at the floor, smashing 'face'.
1d8 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 dmg
at least he will try to reach ant bite Vetrivides after self-biting
CMB Doru to escape web: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
CMB Doru to escape web: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
... but he looks like forceless fly within this web.
Chandu
|
Well, that was unpleasant says Chandu. Looking over at Zarta she says, I prefer something a bit pithier in the heat of combat dear....
Chandu casts a simple detect magic spell and gives the room a quick search, lookign for useful material, evidence or loot.
Perception, hell, heroism: 1d20 + 18 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 18 - 2 + 2 = 28
Atum Shane
|
After getting mindly better, Atum nods something with elven rare lecsture and goes through scroll again, taking Veshtahz onboard.
will: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Doru will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Did I miss something?
carefully asks diviner, still seeing magic auras around.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 11 - 4 = 16
Perception Doru: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 11 - 2 = 10
Atum wants to take a closer look here ot help find historical clues and investigation evidences.
| Vetrivides |
Meanwhile Doru becomes insane but web is to sticky,

He's got a tongue. ;) Technically, that last roll goes to Atum who was confused longer. He probably attempts to strangle the Doru. "BOSS! BOSS! DON'T! IT'S ME! IT'S ME!" :)
"Amusing. I enjoy watching small things hit one-another." says the ever-grinning bone devil. "But enough games. To your task, mortals."
A round or so later, Atum convinces Leona that he is in fact NOT crazy, and she dismisses the web.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
Wow, you guys won that battle in a single round, this fighter is impressed.
Well, maybe. There are still "phantoms" wandering around the room. ;)
Well, that was unpleasant says Chandu. Looking over at Zarta she says, I prefer something a bit pithier in the heat of combat dear....
Chandu casts a simple detect magic spell and gives the room a quick search, lookign for useful material, evidence or loot.
Magical detection picks up the fact that many of the items here have faint transmutation enchantments (basically effects that keep them from deteriorating due to age--common in many high-end museums and collections in Golarion as well), it also identifies the wall scroll on far side of the room. Looking about some more eats up a couple of minutes of time, but does not reveal much beyond what was described here. The display placards describe most of the important history of the individual pieces.
Atum wants to take a closer look here ot help find historical clues and investigation evidences.
Nothing much in the way of actual evidence, aside from the fact that Leventi is a collector of items (and souls!) related to House Thrune, in the same way that "finance guys" buy Magic: the Gathering cards hoping that they will dramatically increase in value over time instead of actually playing with them--or so a same person might hope.

ouch! °_°
Happy to have destroyed the haunt before it activates!
Just remember the real Gorthoklek is a Pit Fiend (that knowledge (plane) check nobody got) and still active as one of the queen of Cheliax's highest-ranked generals. This was just a haunt generated by the terror he invoked upon the Davian coalition armies at the end of the Civil War a century ago.
Jair Whisper
|
Yes, he is scary!
After learning a little bit more about Cheliax history, her homeland, Jair looks at her comrades and in a blank voice she says Time to get to the last scroll, right?
Waiting for the biggest to go first, she follows third, after casting guidance on herself.
Will: 1d20 + 14 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 14 - 4 = 22
Chandu
|
Yes indeed says Chandu. Lets finish this
With that she activates her wands again, casts Good Hope on everyone (NB it also affects initiative but doesnt stack with heroism) and steps through the scroll.
Scroll save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Atum Shane
|
As soon as girl-power getting team ready, Atum sighs, but follows them with Good Hope replenish his resolve.
Atum again gonna try the wand
UMD for wand of Protection From evil: 1d20 + 2 - 4 + 2 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 2 - 4 + 2 + 7 = 24
scroll journey Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

The lurid glow of flames within an iron-grated pit illuminates this well-appointed chamber. Ancient scrolls smoldering with Infernal script move with an unseen breeze along most of the walls, and large glass cases display statues carved to resemble hellish armor along the far wall. Between the two cases stands a contract devil slightly less imposing than the statue you saw in the entrance hall.
He waits patiently for the party to enter acknowledging each new face with a nod.
| Leventi |
“Welcome, my esteemed guests. Please, let us not resort to our baser instincts when we can instead discuss this matter to our mutual benefit. I am a simple broker, my name is Leventi, and if I have something you desire…” He holds up a glass jar swirling with inky mist and an older Chelish man’s disembodied face peering out. “…I would gladly negotiate its sale.”
The firelight emanating from the floor between you makes it difficult to tell if he is smiling or sneering at you.
Atum Shane
|
we need send someone for cage carriers with Tholvinus
Atum now realizes... With all this scrolls, contracts and soul trapped.
This tattoos... That's really put the diviners fate into dangerous position.
Our basic instinct is knowledge seeking. And you are not simple broker, but corrupted devil. You overstep Dis rules. There is very small chance, that you are just UNPROFESSIONAL. Anyway, we here to stop your duty for a while. Be happy here is no Liberty Edge participants with us, or we could not avoid sad consequences...
Meanwhile Veshtahs trying to find Good somewhere around. And defifntally understand how this place protected.
Lasaraleen
|
Lasaraleen enters and listens to the devil and his proposal with barely hidden contempt.
You say you would negotiate, but your track record has been very inconsistent, even by the standards of Dis. I am going to be honest and I say I do not believe we can trust you to keep your end of any bargain.
She looks to her allies as well and Zarta for any other suggestions.
If we were to make any bargain, and not saying we will yet, we would need some pretty significant assurances or collateral in good faith. What do you have to say?
If the Imp is needed she is willing to be one of the two to fetch him.
Chandu
|
Chandu looks at Zarta, Is there any situation in which we get to kill this fool and the buffoon outside?
| Leventi |
"Ah, so you are the so-called 'good guys' is a that it? Here to right wrongs and strike a blow for goodness and all that. Well then you could do worse than to make a deal with me. As you no-doubt know I am up for promotion in Hell's hierarchy, and yet as you point out I may not be quite as lawful as Hell might wish me to be. What better way to undermine the plane than to let me progress? Hmm? As it is you are just that bone-head Vetrivides' hounds. You know Vetrivides, right? That nosey osyluth who has been sitting on my doorstep for ever so long. I don't know what the Liberty's Edge is (some nihilistic anarchy cult I imagine), but I don't imagine they would be pleased to be doing Hell's bidding." The smile remains.
Chandu looks at Zarta, Is there any situation in which we get to kill this fool and the buffoon outside?
"See? That doesn't sound very lawful."
| Leventi |
"I know you and your friends have been investigating me on the bone devil's behalf. You put on quite the show at Widow's Cry yesterday. You've been gathering evidence against me. Turn it over to me, all of it, then kill the bone devil--it knows too much, and I will sign over Gellius Thrune's soul to you though it pains me no end. My entire collection revolves around it you see, but unlike Hell, I am willing to bend a bit. What do you say?" The smile, it is like it is tattooed there.
Chandu
|
I have never claimed to be a "good guy" or indeed any kind of "guy" at all snarls Chandu, grinding her teeth.
Lasaraleen
|
Lasaraleen sighs, not liking to choose between two literal evils.
So we need to either deal with Leventi to regain the soul via deceit or deal with Vetrivides to be awarded the soul of Gellius Thrune in some trial. Do we know how long the latter will take?
Atum Shane
|
Atum comes closer to Zarta, while Veshtahs fly around as a noisy little fly. Doru feels much comfortable now, without web around. Elf whispers.
I saw our future and know my role in it. Give me a sign as you ready to face our destiny. It would be really interesting if we consider negotiate with Leventi. Also, lets do not waste good hope...by talking too long.
For Doru's constant detections, are there any unusual auars around? Stronger than faint?
Jair Whisper
|
I really don't care about you or Vetrivedes, or the fact you are less lawful than most of the devil here. The soul of Gellius is already ours, what can you offer more to us to make your offer more appealing than Vetrivedes' one?
At least, it have not tried to kill us...
Says Jair
| Leventi |

"But is it? Is it really yours yet?" The smile remains. The jar is pocketed. "You are getting the prized piece of my collection. What else do you want?"
Chandu
|
I want your head on a platter growls Chandu. Or your heart impaled on a spike might be a suitable substitute.
But mostly I want to be finished with this job and get out of this..., she pauses and grins, hellhole
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
@GM Vetrivedes was the one that send assassins to kill us?
Not yet. Maybe when your 48 hours are up. Vetrivedes the bone devil is your contact in Hell. They (Vetrivedes is genderless) and Zarta made a deal. You investigate Leventi for them and they let you take Gellius Thrune's soul in payment--on the condition that you do it within 48 hours. The participants in the ambush were people and souls nominally under Leventi's control (the Hellknight taken from the wall of Dis, the apprentice/former slave of the Aspis wizard Kirash Nouri, and the spirit of the Thrune agent Ophelia Peran rented from the nighthag Yseldra in the Market of Breaths).
Jair Whisper
|
@GM that's what I thought! I has clearly not written my last sentence well because I was meaning when writing it that Vetrivedes contrary to Leventi hadn't sent assassin against us
A wish? Now I'm more open to listening to you. Says Jair who looks at her comrades.
What do you think? It seems to me more appealing than the first offer.
| Leventi |
"I can offer your little group a wish if you like to sweeten the deal."
This would be something that would show up on your chronicle sheets as:
Contracted Wish: You secured a wish from a contract devil. Choose one of the following benefits and cross the others off your Chronicle sheet.
Wish for Glory: You regain 2 Prestige Points, but any points that exceed your Fame must be spent immediately or are lost.
Wish for Power: You can spend 16 Prestige Points once to gain a +1 inherent bonus to one ability score of your choice.
Wish for Wealth: You earn an extra 650 gp (Subtier 7–8) for completing this scenario.
Basically once the deal is done--and you folks are out of Dis the effects take hold.
| Leventi |
"Well, for a soul I can make you a little side deal, friend! Say something in the neighborhood of TEN TIME$ what I am offering your group's members individually? What do you say, hmm?" He pulls a scroll from one of his long curling back horns. "I happen to have a contract right here."
The scroll rolls itself out across the floor until it taps Shrec's booted toes. The last line of text has a place for a signature.
"How about you, Jair?" Leventi says smiling at the cleric. "Maybe something to go with that nice belt of yours? I know you are not sad to have made the deal."
Jair Whisper
|
Nothing Paracountess, I could have been carried away while on Hell... responds Jair to Lady Zarta.
Turning to Leventi, she says You know nothing about me, Leventi. Don't push me too far.
Then she gets back to her comrades and asks What do you think?
| Leventi |
Shrec gladly signs. Now I'll I have to do is never die.
"Excellent! Was there a particular item you wanted or merely coins in the amount of 6,500 gold pieces?"
Just so you know Shrec, this event has far reaching (semi-permanent) implications that reach beyond this scenario for whichever character you ultimately apply this chronicle too.
Once signed (in blood), the scroll rolls back up like a spring-loaded pull shade, and disappears into one of the many folds of Leventi's robe.
| Shrec the Powerful |
6,500 coins yes. Well aware of that. Not to often do you get to play a scenario that has a give and take chronicle attached to it. Obviously I can't be resurrected, but I'll have 6500 more coins for a certain character. Just simply don't let that character die.
| The World's Most Interesting GM |
For Doru's constant detections, are there any unusual auars around? Stronger than faint?
Nearly all the big contracts glow with several different auras (some glow with multiple auras as if they have multiple magical effects on them). Vesh (or Atum if he's 'looking' too) would need to make a number of Knowledge (arcana) checks to identify the auras or a number of Spellcraft checks to identify what the item is or what the given effect of the spell is. Likewise Leventi, has a single aura upon himself as well as do the two big glass cases with the suits of diabolic armor inside. Given the above discussion, we will assume that one minute has passed, so Vesh can use that time to make whatever relevant checks he likes.
So again, as stated above, a minute of time has passed for purposes of spell duration.

"It's official. Pleasure doing business with you."
A pile of gold coins appears on the floor next to Shrec. Updated on map.
One final note before I leave for work: The deal to get wish out of Leventi as part of a deal to betray Vetrivides and hand over all your evidence is considered an EVIL ACT, and may have repercussions upon those PCs who care about that sort of thing.
