The chest opens easily enough and is full of traveling clothes (various cloaks, boots, a haversack and other environment specific apparel), a complicated brass chronometer, and a silver compass. The last two items are the items giving off the faint divinatory auras that Veshtahz sensed within.
Atum Shane
|
Veshtahz telepaticaly suggest that Jair take the chest and get out.
He'll spend couple more minutes here among this aroma trying to find something useful. Or a hole to sleep.
Lasaraleen

With the mention of toxic gases, Lasaraleen weighs in her mind the idea of entering or summoning something to help.
Waiting by the scroll, if anyone (Shrec, Veshtahz etc) emerges, she will ask Where is our friend, Jair? Does she need help? in a near panicked tone.
She can summon a Bralani with whirlwind to try and disperse the gas.
Atum Shane
|
Veshtahz want to tempt you, Las. And he suggests Jair is impudent. They are fine and found something. Lets give them more time to work. I can summon help as well, if necessary. I wonder, can someone conjure Erase ?

You could. According to Vesh (via telepathic communication with Atum) there's no place for the gas to go (i.e. windows or vents) so while you could disperse it to the far corners of the area with a whirlwind it would return in a few rounds. Jair (though she hasn't said it explicitly is under the effects of delay poison) and Vesh are both basically immune to the effect. It is only Shrec who is slightly insulated thanks to antitoxin and naturally high Fort who is currently in danger.

Lasaraleen nods and waits before acting.

Veshtaghz will do his best to aid Jair, if she won't be insulting.
I think Jair need to spend some time and 1 post to make through this if we've found everything worthy.

Jairs casts detect magic and tries to identify the objects.
The silver compass is remarkably light and is in fact a featherlight compass.
The function of the complicated brass contraption remains elusive to Jair.
How long do Jair, Schrec and Vesh wish to remain inside?
Lasaraleen
|
Lasaraleen waits for a minute. Once Shrec emerges she will continue to wait for another 5mins
So Jair was ok and still in the? Shrec do you know how long she will be in there? Atum can we have your friend run messages back and forth?
Atum Shane
|
Veshtahz. Please be our interpretive person. Let Jair describe and help her with comments. Lasaraleen worrying.
After short delay Atum says:
Veshtahz insulting you. He will do it if yoy later share with hima secret. Jair is fine. They found 2 magic items. We should give them a minute.

There's no wand. It was a steampunk-looking magical timepiece sort-of-thing that Jair could not identify. There was also a super lightweight silver compass thing that she figured out was a featherlight compass.

This opulent, 40-ft tall gallery hosts an esoteric collection of relics, dioramas, and portraits. The prow of a frigate juts from the far wall, a seared section of bridge sits in the shadow of a gallery walkway to the left, and unmoving figures play out a diabolic sacrifice beneath a twisted tree opposite. Along a reproduced battlement, a desperate battle between ghostly human combatants seems to move with supernatural slowness.
Small engraved bronze placards explain the signifacance of some of the displays. The section of bridge is in fact a fragment from the Arch of Aroden burnt with hellfire when the devil Baraxiel dragged the paladin Rius Galdaeon to Hell outside Corentyn. Ghostly figures fighting on a Corentyn battlement during House Davian’s last surge during the Battle of One-Hundred Kings in 4639 AR. The prow is from the Sargavan frigate Dauntless that sank in that same battle. The tree and its accompanying accompanying figures depict a ritual scene reenacting Abrogail I’s sale of her soul to Asmodeus in Winter Grove. A copy of the contract’s two page preamble sits in a prominent glass display case before it. The large portraits staring down from the upper gallery seem to depict members of the extended Thrune family and their agents. One space is curiously bare.
Ghostly figures in opulent attire wander the hall mutely, cleaning, dusting and straitening. Most appear to be people depicted in the portraits on the walls.
| Paracountess Zarta Dralneen |
Zarta starts down the stair to inspect the collection. She reads off the description of the battlement display as the slow-motion battle plays itself out between the two ghostly armies.
"The Battle of One-Hundred Kings. My ancestor. My real ancestor, Lannavia Davian, fought at this battle. This was the last major offensive before the end of the Civil War against House Thrune and its allies." she says half-lost in reverie.

Noted.
Hopefuly Atum can see something too?
Arcane sight picks up the fact that many of the items here have faint transmutation enchantments (basically effects that keep them from deteriorating due to age--common in many high-end museums and collections in Golarion as well), it also identifies the wall scroll on far side of the room, but it does not help here.
The spectral army assaulting the battlement fragment increases in size, filling the room with ghostly combatants. Then, suddenly, a huge demonic creature erupts from a pillar of flame in a pillar of flame amid them, sowing terror.
Lasaraleen spontaneously channels the power of her goddess and the burst pushes explodes upon the pillar blowing much of the flame away. The winged red titan within bellows in rage at the seeming affront.
Creatures in the area are panicked for 1 round and then confused for 2d4 rounds; creatures who succeed at a DC 18 Will save are only shaken for 1 round and not confused. If you fail the check roll to see how many your PC is confused.
Also, if they are not confused, your PC may make the following rolls if otherwise able.
To identify the huge demonic being's "type" roll one Knowledge (planes) check and open all the spoilers below that apply.

"That's not terrifically inspiring my dear. You should try for a more competent commanding tone. Like this: She turns to address the desperate spirit armies of House Davian.
"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;Or close the wall up with our Chelish dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;
Let pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon; let the brow o'erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a galled rock
O'erhang and jutty his confounded base,
Swill'd with the wild and wasteful ocean.
Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,
Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit
To his full height. On, on, you noblest Chelish.
Whose blood is fet from mothers of war-proof!
Mothers that, like so many Iomedaes,
Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:
Dishonour not your mothers; now attest
That those whom you call'd fathers did beget you.
Be copy now to men of grosser blood,
And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,
Whose limbs were made in Avistan, show us here
The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;
For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'ARODEN FOR DAVIAN, CHELIAX AND IOMEDAE!'
In response the ghostly armies of Davian's coalition roar forward against Thrune, and slowly begin to press the diabolic hosts back.
