"Our convictions?" An unseen wind whips at Tykent's robes as the old man points his walking stick at the mummy. "Know them, foul creature, and despair!"
Misfortune (Will 18 negates) and Chant to maintain.

Icilias' eyes seem to almost glow with an inner fire at the sight of the mummy. "I'll show you 'convictions', creature." She stretches her hand out towards the mummy, and bright white ray of light lances out at the undead.

Penny and Taylor |

"Convictions? I know what I have done. Do you?" Penny shouts back with a smirk, as she stomps her foot to the ground, emitting a ripple of energy towards the mummy.
Penny casts thunderstomp
trip: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
You stomp your foot or strike your weapon against the ground or floor, creating a ripple of power that you can use to trip a creature. Attempt the combat maneuver check to trip the target, but instead of your base attack bonus you can use your caster level, and instead of your Strength modifier you can use your spellcasting ability score modifier (Intelligence for magi and wizards; Wisdom for druids and rangers; Charisma for bloodragers and sorcerers). This does not provoke an attack of opportunity. This spell has no effect if you cannot reach the ground or floor, or if your target is not in contact with the ground or floor.

GM ShadowLord |

Tykent knows that this is an Iroran mummy monk, an undead carrying a terrifying disease known as mummy rot. They have damage resistance to everyone and are weak to fire.
The mummy shakes off Tykent hex as if it were nothing at all, but reels from Icilias's positive touch. Eldon tries teo also use a ranged touch spell, but his is not as successful and misses.
Penny's Thunderstomp spell also fails and doesn't even warrant a look or comment from the mummy, who continues to focus on vulnerable Yngvilda. With three powerful blows, the mummy unloads upon the female warrior. Yngvilda damage: 1d8 + 9 + 1d8 + 9 + 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 + (2) + 9 + (3) + 9 = 40

"Penny, Eldrin - show him how hot your 'convictions' burn!" Tykent intones, his eyes shining brightly. Hope trills fiercely, shedding golden light that fills the room like dust from her feathers.
Casting bless. If we can encourage the mummy to move, Tykent can try to get Yngvilda back on her feet - otherwise, it's too risky with her right next to him.

Cwm - Yngvilda is down, so no flank of sneak attack.
As the Ulfen falls, Cwm tries to continue attacking the monk. His first attack misses, but he lands his second. Unfortunately however, without Yngvilda to keep his back turned, his damage doesn't seem to injure it.
Ivilias's positive touch fails to touch the undead creature just as Penny's trip fails to disrupt his footing. Eldon successfully does however, shocking the undead creature.

Steping back away from the undead creature, Eldon pulls out the rod he aquired in the tomb and points it at the creature. He launches into the strange arcane words of a spell, gesturing with his free hand. At the conclusion of the spell a ray of flame shoots from the rod toward the creature.

This is a playing a little meta, but hopefully we can retcon just a tad.
Frustrated with her previous failure, Icilias readies her scythe in a combat stance, and calls out, "Tykent, makes some room for a lady, would you?!"

Tykent Life-Friend |

Oh, of course Tykent would be happy to move back from the mummy monk. XD

@Cwm, I think you'd be stable since the damage was 14 and you had 3 hitpoints left (making you -11 hitpoints for a DC 21 Constitution check to stabilize). Do let me know if that's incorrect and we can get y'all some healing pronto.
"Again, Eldon!" Light dances in Tykent's eyes as he turns his gaze on his halfling companion. "Show him the fire of your conviction once more!"
Using Fortune on Eldon and then Chanting to maintain duration. Hex spoilered below for reference.

Penny and Taylor |

Penny cracks her knuckles in frustration "You are starting to get on my nerves creature...I Said Stay Down!"
This time Penny anger echos as if the room itself shakes at her anger with this creature.
Penny casts thunderstomp. It is super effective.

GM ShadowLord |

Eldon's ray misses, even with Tykent's fortune. Cwm stops bleeding as Icilias loses her spell.
All hopes came down to Penny. Would she come through where she had failed twice previously?
Yes, she would. Her spell successfully sends the undead mummy toppling to the ground, but only for a moment.

"Well then that went poorly. Taylor, I don't normally ask of this, but it looks like we need all we can get here."
She nods, and it is as if Taylor knows exactly what to do. He performs a flyby attack, keeping himself out of range of the mummy, while blowing forth a massive blast of fire out to the mummy (for Taylor its massive, for everyone else its pretty darn cute).
Simultaneously, Penny holds out her hand as a ray of what is this? Positive Energy? rushes out to attack the foul creature.
Taylor performs a flyby attack and uses his breath weapon, maintaining his distance to stay out of reach of the mummy.

Amulet of mighty fists + 1, belt of giant strength +2, black key.

Yngvilda Grimsdottir |

Yngvilda gradually rouses, taking a long time to come back to full consciousness. Finally she jumps up like she's just seen a beetle crawl up her leg.
"Torag's beard! I thought I was done for, how did you kill it?"
She sits and listens with rapt attention to the story, cheering when Eldon hits it with the scorching ray, and looking concerned when Icilias falls. At the end though she stands in shock.
"Penny killed it?!"
On doing so though she twinges a bruise and cries out in pain.
"We all need a bit of a rest after that I think"
Yngvilda would love the belt if no-one else wants it. How's the wand doing on charges?

![]() |

Icilias stirs shortly after Yngvilda. "Could you not speak so loudly, please? I feel like I was run over by an owlbear."
She takes the time to assess the damage and do her best to re-arrange herself to be more presentable. "This will have to do, I'm afraid. Perhaps we can use this room to rest ourselves. That was an especially grueling fight."

Cwm |

Cwm looks at the loot, mumbling to Yng "Maybe Penny will need this belt to hold up her ego after taking out the mummy." Louder, she continues, "anyone know what that key is? Is it magical?" He looks around for any locks that might fit it.

Penny and Taylor |

"Not just I, but even Taylor had to dive into danger to save the lot of you. You are just lucky the rest of us on are feet were competent enough to keep you alive."
Penny gives a brief nod to Eldon and Tykent as she tries to wipe away some of the sweat from her brow. Clearly she is trying to hide the fact that she had definite concern for getting out of here alive.
"Now, I agree - perhaps a rest is necessary for you all. I need you all in tip top shape if we are to make it through here"

GM ShadowLord |

Sounds like we are camping here after a grueling thirty minute long adventuring day.
Securing this room is very easy given the layout and single entrance. With a watch set, the night passes quietly as the caster regain their full allotment of spells and gifts.
The next morning you return back through the tunnel and continue moving south through the complex where you left off. Continuing through the door, you continue east and move past another junction where a hall splits down to the south. The corridor ends turning north into a room full of small individual cubbies which fill a dormitory, each smaller than five feet by five feet. The dust is thick on the floor here.
As you progress forward, two howling, malignant cloud of shadows boil in the air, surging out of the walls. Their skeletal maws eerily babbling as the creature’s claws manifest from the darkness.
