About Yngvilda Grimsdottir

Yngvilda is many things; impulsive, stubborn, headstrong, naive, to name a few. The slightest hint of danger will have her grabbing her axe and shield and rushing headlong into it, for honour and for glory. To her allies she is honourable and kind, and fierce if they are threatened

Background:
Yngvilda grew up with tales of traditional Ulfen heroes, of brave warriors battling trolls, of shieldmaidens protecting their families, and of the great Linnorm Kingdoms, where would-be kings fight evil beasts for the honor of their clan.

It was with these stories that she protected herself from the stares of the other children, and the whispers of "savage" she would hear when they thought she wasn't listening. Growing up in Oppara wasn't easy, despite her mother's insistence that she was lucky to have so much. Her father Asbjorn was a well-respected member of the Ulfen guard, but Yngvilda's childish adoration of him slowly gave way to embarrasment and finally to shame at the way the so called Ulfen Warrior spent his days at the beck and call of the nobility.

The last conversation she had with her parents was rather heated. "I'm going north, to slay a Linnorm, to show the world that Yngvilda Grimsdottir is worthy of her heritage!" she had proclaimed. She winces now every time she recalls it. Her mother insisted that the Ulfen of the Linnorm Kingdoms were bloodthirsty and violent, and not like her rigid and honorbound family. She said that as a Torag worshipper and as a lover of law before battle that she would be as much an outsider there as she was in Oppara, but Yngvilda's blood was up and she would not hear it. She took her shield and her axe and stormed off to write her story and earn her place in the histories.

Right now however she's struggling to earn a place indoors during the night.
I need to hone my fighting skills if I'm ever going to slay a linnorm, but the last three towns I've visted have been busts as far as work goes. If I don't find a job for my axe soon I'll be out of cash and have to go home without a single troll slain.
No.
She looks up at the sign for the town she's approaching. "Wispil". I've heard there are jobs here for those with a strong arm. Protecting vulnerable towns is honest work, and perhaps it will lead to something more.

Appearance:
Yngvilda is a a young Ulfen woman with long braided auburn hair. She dresses in leathers and armour (presently scale mail), topped with fur, and has a large round wooden shield strapped either to her back or her left arm. It has a metal shield boss in the middle which she can bang her axe against, and is ringed with fierce looking spikes. An axe and a warhammer hang from her belt, and she has a longspear strapped to her back.

She likely glowers at people when they first meet her, but as long as they don't attack her or insult her ancestors she will soon warm up to them
