The large axe guardian takes punishment from the party, but still remains standing after Caspan's trip fails to send it to the ground. It swings both of its great bladed weapons at Caspan, but both miss.

In the distance, more pounding sounds can be hear and a second guardian rounds the corner in the distance behind the first. This one does not have battleaxe arms however, it's left arm is shaped like a long bow which is draws back and fires at Caspan, sinking an arrow into his chest. As the golem moved farther away from Emil and Caspan was hit by an arrow, Emil finds himself unable to attack the golem, so he touches Caspan to keep him healthy before he dives back into melee. Then he draws out his last flask of alchemist's fire.

As Thael's pit opens up underneath of the creature, it leaps backwards and avoids falling down it. Fortunately for you, this puts it out of your line of sight and gives you sufficient enough time to focus your attention on the axe-wielding golem.

Selde and Caspan put down the golem before Wren can cast her spell. Jillian can change her actions if she wishes and take two. If she advances further towards the pit, the wooden archer will attack.

He concentrates on the fight, knowing he's going to have arrows flying at him. Move action to use martial flexibility to get Deflect Arrows for 1 minute

Holding until after Emil, though will rush forward even if no one heals me

With the one down Jillian moves up to see where the archer went and ends up getting an arrow in the shoulder for her trouble. She calls back to the others "It is way down the hall."

She moves back to giver herself some space and then runs toward the pit to jump over.

Those boots really help and she easily jumps over the pit.

She finishes closing the distance to attack the construct, reaching down to heal some of her wounds on the way.

Jillian, Caspan and Selde clear the pit with ease, landing on the other side.

I don't think Jillian can clear that distance and still attack, her speed is only 30'.

Thael is up. I moved up Wren to 10' from the pit.

Huh--looks like you're right. It doesn't have the (D) at the end of the duration line. I'll double move then. Sorry guys--thought it would be helpful having the pit keep the other one away, but it looks like it's keeping us a way. Though, we could also have healed up and regrouped while the spell kept it away and then attacked when the pit was gone.

Emil harumphs at being left behind and faced with a pit to get across to join the fight. He calls for Wren and Thael to clear a path as he starts building up speed as he moves toward the pit to attempt to jump across.

Using a double move, Emil should be able to clear the pit, I hope. If Jillian had moved away on the last turn, he would have advanced part way down the hall before channeling energy last turn.

Emil lands on the other side of the pit with a few feet to spare and moves past the sloping sides to get closer to the fight.

Jillian attacks as Emil cleans the pit, landing a solid blow against the wooden guardian, but not as effective as it normally would be.

The golem throws it's arms outwards as an explosion of splinters burst forth from its body, striking everyone who has crossed the pit Splinter damage: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 4, 1, 1) = 15. Taking a step back, it then fires two arrows at Caspan. The first one strikes him, but the second one misses. Caspan Damage: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31

Seeing Caspan take more wounds from the guardian, Emil cast his most powerful healing spell and advances close enough to the brawler to touch him, letting the warm glowing energy flow into him.

Caspan's quick stats listed his hp at 40/64 so maybe that was from the previous round. Anyway, he seemed most in need and the channel only does an average of 11. I often don't have a lot of time to post and so I miss some of the blow by blow details.

The baddies get a d20 for damage when I say they get a damage for damage!!!!! Or I mistype it, whichever. It should have been Damage: 1d8 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21

Caspan lands a hit, but Jillian both of hers. The guardian ignores Selde as she takes position behind her. Once she buries her blade into her back however, she pivots and turns to face her, firing two shots into her. [ooc]This will provoke.

The guardian's attacks left it open for Selde to counter attack, bringing her flaming blade to bear once again. Unfortunately both arrows struck Selde at point blank range. While her spider silk once again proved it's worth by catching the arrows, their force still violently struck her. Besides the pain to her shoulder and ribs, the force of the arrows also thrust her back, slamming her head in to the stone wall. Selde's vision faded to an icy blackness as she lost consciousness.

23 takes me down to 0, AoO after the first attack.

Emil is going to try to hit the construct with his scythe, but when he sees Selde fall, he once again goes into the the role of healer, which suits him fine. He prefers healing to harming. He is not an expert on things arcane, but he believes that the positive energy that heals most creatures does not repair damage to a machine, even a magically functioning one.

So he steps back out of the reach of the creature and channels positive energy which spreads out and around the golem to reach Selde, Caspan, and Jillian.

Sorry it took me so long to post, catching up on hundreds of posts while trying to catch up on work with the kids around in quarantine is something akin to IMPOSSIBLE.

Selde goes and Jillian misses, but Caspan barely connects with the tree archer, though it's not enough to finish it off.

Emil's positive energy gets Selde conscious again, but she's laying at the creatures feet, behind it.

Wren calls out some advice while Thael snaps off an acid arrow which burns into the guardian's chest.

When the guardian sees Selde stir, it turns and kicks her with it's large, thick wooden leg. Selde Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 Twice. Selde Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

The blood on his knuckled covers the momentary relief as Father Emil heals him, before he splits them immediately again punching the thing. Unfortunately, he's distracted enough by the idea he may lose his beer-maker that the blows don't manage to do any real damage.

Almost as soon as the positive energy brought her back to consciousness, the viscous kicks of the construct sent her back to painful darkness. Blood ran from the half-elfs nose and mouth as she lay on the floor in an unnatural pose.

I actually can see its bottom right corner, at least according to the line of sight from Roll 20. Quite enough to target it, I'd say.

Wren hits the thing with a magic missile if it is still up.

Caspan flails about in front of the wooden guardian, but can't seem to land anything solid on the large creature right in front of him. Wren fires off a magic missle that slams into it and then Jillian finishes it off, cutting enough of the tree apart to fell it to the ground in front of her, almost landing on top of Selde.

Seeing Selde bleed out again, Emil once more channels healing energy to help revive the fallen druid. Thael's pit eventually disappears and Pila, Wren and Thael can rejoin the group to the north.

Thael can save his attack this round. Out of combat!

The party now rests at a four-way intersection. Having come from the south, it looks like the passage to the north angles back to the west in the direction they came from, likely completely a large circle. Selde can just make out an alcove extending to the north much like one to the south where they found the large key.

To the east, the passage ends at a wall-to-wall iron door with no handle or hinges. The stone wall to the north of the door is inset with a pair of large keyholes.

Off to the west, it looks like a crypt awaits.
