Hmm. In response to that, DM & Heather:
This probably means dealing with some pretty revolting things, but he'll swallow his pride and help out as he can.

The Healers Meeting at Arbiter's Hall.
The meeting is held in one of the larger courtrooms on the the ground floor of Arbiter's Hall. Expecting crowds of desperate and sick people to gather where healers are known to be. A cordon of Guards and Maidens keep back the commoners in a two block radius. Patrols roam the nearby streets and still more security is inside the building. Jeorik is assigned inside.
There are perhaps forty healers in attendance. They range from the god's clerics to the wealthy doctors to simple street healers like Kenan. The crowd sorts itself out with the wealthier healers toward the front of the room; the poorer healers toward the back.
Four temples have sent representatives. Near the front of the room on the right are the Abadarans. Archbanker Tuttle himself is in attendance with Dashani and two acolytes.
To the left the Temple of the Iron Fist is represented by its head, Ornher Reebs, by a woman unknown to you, and by Jeorik and Istas' friend, Inigo, clad in his gleaming breastplate. He notices Jeorik and Istas and his gaze flicks away while he leans close to whisper something to Reebs.
Sarenrae's faithful have sent Gabrella Rikkanee (the number 2 at her temple with whom Istas spoke about Tauni Voe) and Alina Mertin, friend of Heather, acquaintance of Istas. They step over to exhange greetings with you.
That covers the independent temples in the city except Aroden's, but none of you have met any of that dwindling and reclusive church. The other gods are served at the Pantheon.
A court bailiff calls the meeting to order. He reads a brief statement from Queen Ileosa. She commends the Bank of Abadar for so quickly alerting the crown of the impending threat. ~Tuttle preens. Dashani looks at Istas and Kenan and smiles apologetically.
The bailiff then continues reading, " We are fortunate indeed, that in this dark hour, we have visiting our royal seat of Korvosa, the imminent Cheliaxian physician, Doctor Reiner Davaulus.
"Henceforth, Doctor Devaulus is to be titled Physician Royal of Korvosa, and is to lead our efforts to purge our city of its plague.
"Written, this eighth day of Neth in the first year of the reign of Ileosa Arbasti."
There is applause, most of it polite. A thin, almost elfish figure with black hair and narrow features stands and enters the witness dock. He waits for the crowd to quiet.
"Thank you. Many of you know me, from my recent lecture or my treatise, Devaulus on Disease. I have studied ailments of all natures. I do not know the exact nature of this new disease christened Bloodveil. Nor do I know the cure. Yet. But I hope that with your help, dear colleagues, we can isolate and eliminate it from the streets of this fair city."
"To this end we must first contain the disease. The quarantine begun on the advice of Archbanker Tuttle, must be maintained, even extended. Any house in which the disease is found must be sealed. Any precinct in which the disease is found must be isolated."
"Initial reports suggest that the disease originated amongst the Varisians and Shoanti on the east bank and has been transferred into the city and taken root in Old Korvosa. Traffic to the east bank outside the walls and to Endrin Isle must therefore be curtailed."
"Secondly, we must establish hospitals within the city to care for those who are sick and without resources. "
"Third, we must recruit healers. We will start with you. Please register as you leave the room tonight. Give your name, address, and area of expertise. Additionally we must summon others from the countryside and abroad. For even the combined talents of all of you, may not be enough if Bloodveil strikes its heaviest blow. I know many men and women with excellent credentials. "
"Fourth, I will personally investigate cures for this most greiveous of maladies. "
"Now if you wish, please come forward and address this assembly. I will need all your efforts and counsel. Tonight and until the scourge of Bloodveil is lifted from Korvosa."
A few, mostly wealthier doctors approach the dock and address the crowd. Expressions of support, ideas big and small, wild or practical are floated. feel free to hobknob or address the crowd

Kenan O'Flarna |

Kenan steps up to the lectern near the end of the meeting. With a grin.
"Kenan O'Flarna, a street healer from just off the Boulevards. I would liek to have a moment of your precious time. If you be willing."
He talks on for a little while about Brienna and the treatments he has seen work and its results. Kenan emphasises the efforts of the Abadar Bank and in particular Ishani, the healer trained by Archbanker Tuttle. Kenan lays it on thick but not too thick.
Then he spends a moment or two dwelling on the work of the healers and how important they all are.
"I be thinking that we need to commandeer a few buildings in each quarter, and make infirmaries to act as temporary centres of care and healing. I see a set of wards in which the infected gradually go from ill to "Veiled" and then possibly a quiet area for their last rites. Somewhere with dignity. Meanwhile we, healers can concentrate our efforts on saving the rest. The infirmaries can also watch and care for their own, since without the healers we will surely perish. I feel harsh and selfish but this situation is harsh. The infirmaries would need guards to protect the place from overcrowding and stay organised."
"Finally, I be sure that many of you have seen that those who recover do not seem to catch the illness again. Those lucky few are the future and also our salvation in this crisis. These people should provide the untrained nurses and ancillaries that we need to work. Much of what I do can be quickly taught and I m sure they would be willing to help save their family and friends, save Korvosa in its hour of need."
"So I be talking far too long as me mammy would have said, but you can see that the city can survive and flourish if we leave here working for a common cause, the salvation of our city and its people."
Diplomacy 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Istas Wraithscar |

"I would add," Istas calls out, "That it is one thing to treat those who have fallen ill to this plague. It is quite another to find the source of it. Some question the ability of prophets in this Age of Lost Omens. But I still believe Pharasma speaks to those who know how to listen. And the Lady of Graves has revealed to me this plague began as a direct result of a practicing cult devoted to Urgathoa. They hide themselves here in the city."
The Shoanti priestess sweeps her hand to include the assembled street healers such as Kenan.
"While these well-intentioned caretakers seek to save those victimized by the disease, some of us will focus our attention on ensuring more plagues don't further ravage the city. We'll root out these followers of the Pallid Princess and lay them low. I...a daughter of the Skoan-Quah of the Shoanti tribes...offer this as a gesture of goodwill between our people. Long now have I made my home in Korvosa. But now, we are all children of Varisia. Faced with the same danger and beset by the same challenge. For the bite of disease knows no difference between those of Chelaxian, Varisian, or Shoanti heritage. We're all in this together. And we'll come out stronger for it if we work together to stop it."
Diplomacy check... 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Archbanker Tuttle is first to the witness box. He pledges the aid of Abadar in fighting Bloodveil. Other speakers follow with commendations to the Bank, or Davaulus, or the Queen. Most include a brief of their own qualifications for positions of authority. Gabrella pledges Sarenrae's temple's help. Father Corvin seconds that for the Pharasmen. Speaking for Azmodeus, Reebs promises "to aid the city and to deliver to Doctor Davaulus one thousand crowns (pp) to help in the establishment of his hospital."
The air in the room grows warm and stale.
The audience yawns through much of Kenan's speech. After all, other speakers have said much the same thing at greater length. But when he mentions that the cured don't get reinfected, half the crowd including Davaulus and many of those in the back of the hall take note.
Istas' speech instantly draws attention. Her manner and appearance would excite comment in any event. Mention of Urgathoa starts many whispered conversations and much headshaking. Her conclusion though, draws a great round of applause. Father Corvin whispers and shakes his head, "Oh my, that will stir them up."
The Council of Physicians is adjourned shortly thereafter.
Many of the poorer street healers gravitate toward Kenan, who finds himself beset with questions and comments concerning treatment and other observations. Ishani dataches himself from the Abadaran delegation to listen in on this conversation.
Istas too finds herself at the center of a knot of people, mostly the clerics. Reebs and the Azmodean woman remain aloof, but Inigo approaches. Archbanker Tuttle sweeps by to fire a broadside, "Do you think yourself a new Saint Alika? Corvin, is this true? What does Bishop d'Bear say is this Shoanti a true prophet of the Lady of Graves? "
Davaulus is beseiged by the wealthier physicians and healers, but fights his way through them toward Istas and Kenan. He hesitates between them, then picks Kenan first, "Sir, I am surprised and pleased at your news. What was your name?"
***
He inquires after your cases and experience and asks you to call upon him tomorrow. "It is late and I am too exhausted to listen properly. You will find me at Tenna's in the Heights."
Tenna's -- the best inn in the city, or at least the most expensive
Finished with Kenan, the Chelish doctor importunes Istas, "Urgathoa!? Surely if the Pallid Whore backs Bloodveil all mere mortals can do will avail us naught." He wipes his forehead with a lace-edged handkercheif. "Still we must try. It is our duty as physicians!"
He steps back. "Thank you for the warning. PLease keep us informed of any developments in your investigation."
"Styles." The doctor turns away. A large muscled Mwangi man in dark blue carrying a heavy spear falls in behind the diminutive Cheliaxian
physician.
If you need more conversation before Dr. D leaves we'll carry the conversation on in spoilers. I just want to get Heather and Emerion re-involved.

CrimsonDM |

Heather and Emerion: 8 Neth.
Heather lies sick. Emerion helps out.
And that means fluids. Bodily fluids. Swabbing, draing, caring, slipping in fluids. Sometimes they're crusted on bandages. Often smelly. Never the same twice. Fluids. Ask for them by name.
Got a nice window of time to write in this afternoon. Hopefully I'll get another one soon and can start 9 Neth.

Istas Wraithscar |

Istas' speech instantly draws attention. Her manner and appearance would excite comment in any event. Mention of Urgathoa starts many whispered conversations and much headshaking. Her conclusion though, draws a great round of applause. Father Corvin whispers and shakes his head, "Oh my, that will stir them up."
"As well it should," Istas quietly notes to her mentor, "It's about time this city woke up to the dangers looming within it."
What does Bishop d'Bear say is this Shoanti a true prophet of the Lady of Graves?"
Istas frowns at the pettiness of the Archbanker, but refrains from responding in kind. Better to take the high road and let Tuttle's religious and social prejudice speak for itself.

CrimsonDM |

8 Neth at the meeting:
Father Corvin smiles at the Archbanker. "Istas is sincere. Whether she prophesies truly, we have yet to see." His smile fades as Tuttle walks by. "I have never cared for that man. He perceives everything through the lens of gain and loss for his Bank."
We'll make a diplomat out of Istas yet.

Emerion Brightsmith |

"A terrible fate I am desperate to avoid," Emerion chuckles. "Have no fear, I intend to ensure you live longer than I - that way I'll keep you from your horrible revenge."
Emerion will enquire from the healers the possibilities of buying a scroll or spell services to remove the disease that is killing heather.
A lesser restoration would at least buy Heather some time and a few more saves even if a remove disease is unavailable.

therealthom |

FYI...if Tim can level us again, Istas will be capable of preparing and casting remove disease. Until then... ::shrug::
I guess this means we have a reason to get out there and adventure some more. :-)
Then I better make sure you never level again. MWaaahaahaaaHAAA!
Back from my trip. Got to get some work done. Will try to post later. Wellard, this is the third time you've brought up Heather dieing. If you really want to make a change, let's talk by email or in the discussion thread. If I'm reading too much into it, let me know that too

9 Neth: Another early morning for Jeorik as he must report for duty. Standing in the cold courtyard of Citadel Volshyenek at the morning muster he observes that there are substantially fewer guards than yesterday. Of his thirty or so acquaintances, among the guard he spots only 12. (Since the guard is on double shifts, about a third would be off-duty.) He is also among the first in the city to hear the Queen's new decree when it is read out to the Guard:
"By Decree of Her Royal Majesty, the Radiant Queen Illeosa I, all citizens and members of the Korvosan Guard are to aid and admit the newly established Queen’s Physicians in this time of urgency. These royal agents will extend healing to the sick and organize defense against the spreading affliction known as “Bloodveil.” They are to be allowed access to any home or building they deem necessary in the course of their duties. All those suffering from disease or disorder are to submit themselves to the Physicians for treatment.
To aid in the duties of the Queen’s Physicians, the Order of the Gray Maidens will coordinate military support as needed. The Maidens are direct representatives of the Crimson Throne. Orders from them shall be obeyed as those from Queen Ileosa herself.
Impeding or distracting the duties of the Queen’s Physicians or the Gray Maidens is punishable by imprisonment. Impersonating one of the Queen’s Physicians is punishable by death. Knowingly harboring or hiding the infected is punishable by death. Purposefully spreading blood veil is punishable by torture, then death. The Queen’s Physicians will be making rounds of every city district henceforth until Her Majesty deems this misfortune abated."
After the reading Croft addresses the Guard herself. "What this means for us, is that any Grey Maiden may command you as I would. I understand some of you may not like the new arrangement, but this is a dire time for our city. I expect you all to follow orders and do your duty. You are the Guards, the living shield of Korvosa." Croft spins and returns to the Citadel keep.
Her adjutant has to shout to be heard over the grumbling in the ranks. "Squad leaders, have the orders for the day. Special Officers' assignments are posted on the board." Jeorik checks the board. He's been assigned to bridge duty again, filling in for a sick Guard. One of the Queen's Physicians accompanies the squad as it marches to the North Bridge.
He is a squat thick-limbed man, equipped typically : cowled robe of oily-looking leather, supple gloves, and wide black hats. He holds a heavy cane and dark satchel. Like the others, he wears a dark-goggled mask tapering to a pointed beak. He walks beside the squad leader on the journey to the bridge. Jeorik is in the middle of the group, graced with carrying the heavy satchel for the doctor. Behind him he can just make out the low-voiced comments of the Guards behind him. "Bird-man ... looks like he has a cock on his face .... shove that up ...."
At the bridge the doctor sets up shop. Apparently no one crosses the bridge into the city without an examination and the Physician's approval. The line soon stretches along the bank and out of sight around some buildings.

CrimsonDM |

9 Neth: Another day in the infirmary for Emerion and Heather. Neither patient has seen any decay in their condition. Many more patients arrive during the morning along with news of the Queen's new decree.
Heather: [spoiler] No loss of Con today, [/ooc]
Kenan, Bloodveil keeps you busy. Three calls during the night broke your sleep. One even from Thief Camp among the Shoanti a twenty minute round trip away, plus time with the patient, a young boy. As you make your rounds during the day, a constant trickle of people asks you to attend relatives. Main question -- do you take time to see Davaulus or stay at Trails' End all day.
Istas is summoned to the infirmary. Bishop d'Bear and Father Corvin are discussing the influx of patients and the temple stocks of healing scrolls and potions. Both look tired and worried. d'Bear smiles at you though, and she says, "It is well that you advised us to lay in stocks for healing, but even so, we do not have enough." Their plan, in a nutshell, is to stretch curing supplies by refusing magical aid until a patient is on the point of death, to give mundane healing and care every opportunity before using any portion of their magical stock. It is a pragmatic plan, but hard. They ask your opinion, as the oracle of this sickness. Then they put you to work in the infirmary. Your first task is to organize tents for the overflow.
Guys, I'm going to be writing the next 3 game days or so in this summary format. As a force of nature, Bloodveil will march through the city regardless of what you do. It's too big and diffuse a foe for individual action. That's not to say you can't have an effect, in fact throughout Seven Days to the Grave are milestones whereby the party reduces the ultimate bodycount. I encourage you to interact among yourselves and feed me questions, comments, or suggestions for the authorities or whatever.

Emerion Brightsmith |

Emerion tries his best to assist, but makes sure he stays by Heather's side much of the time (it's pretty clear she is half the reason he is there). Along the way he is picking up much on the nature of Healing (I plan on putting a rank or two into it when we next level!).
Heal Check: 1d20 ⇒ 12 for anyone that needs it ...

CrimsonDM |

10 Neth:
Jeorik: Up early again. Dorman plans to lay in supplies today to last out the plague. Argument between Dorman and the remaining girls, "No they may not nurse the sick." The girls look mutinous.
Morning muster -- fewer Guards.
Grumbling in the ranks, the Guards escorting the Queen's Physicians on their rounds complain they don't do anything useful. They barge into houses or apartments without a by-your-leave, make a quick examination of the occupants, and pronounce the home clean or tainted. Tainted homes are then ordered closed. No one comes out unless a physician allows it.
A few guards in your hearing tell a story about a poor old woman they arrested yesterday. She had Bloodveil. She's to be tried for "purposefully spreading Bloodveil." Their complaint is two-fold: that she probably was "purposefully spreading" and that they had to handle her.
Bridge duty, this time on the Stone Bridge to Old Korvosa. This physician, a skinny woman with blond hair peeking out from under her mask, is no better than yesterday's. The mask makes babies cry. During her examinations people are treated as if they were a piece of meat. Poke, prod, stick down the throat. Accept or reject. She examines only people coming from Old Korvosa. Anyone may freely go to the island.
Looking down the Strait of Alika you see the lines on the wooden bridges and the occasionally jumper leaping across narrow places where the Shingles overhang the Strait. They spark chases through the streets. About mid-afternoon Grey Maidens escort work party to the Shingles crossing sites where the problem is solved by hatchet, axe and saw.
About noon it starts to rain. In the early afternoon, you see your cousin, Philly Vander. She wants to cross to Old Korvosa for her fencing lesson.
Heather: Wakes up feeling stronger.
Emerion: Your efforts yesterday are making you quite the favorite with the nurses. They've dubbed you "the patient doctor." You feel quite well and are pronounced free of disease.
Istas: You wake up feeling poorly. It's not bad, and you're sure with the right combo of herbs and some of Ishani-Kenan's infusion you'll be fine.
Kenan: Although you've heard about yesterday's decree, you've not seen any of the Queen's Physicians in Trail's End or Thief Camp. There are two other healers in Trail's End. One is an old midwife, quite out of her depth, but very happy to follow your lead; the other is a Varisian crone, an accomplished herbalist with a "magic crystal".
Demand for your services is high. The night of the 9th had more knockers on your door, and more requests for help when you make your rounds.
Rather than ask for rolls, I'll just be rolling the plague checks for you.
Everyone should read my entries to Jeorik. I'd like to use the point of View of the Guard to describe the state of the city.
Find the song quote for bonus points.

Emerion Brightsmith |

Pronounced free of the disease Emerion asks if he can procure a document declaring him cured to make travelling around the city easier and bids Heather farewell as she seems to be doing better, promising to return later.
He will first check in on his family to ensure they are all well, then makes his way to the school to see how his master is faring. If all is well, he will request some leave to aid in the city's struggle against the plague - as someone who has suffered it he is able to handle other sufferers without fear of re-infection.

CrimsonDM |

10 Neth:
Emerion:The Pharasmen are happy to provide Emerion with a written bill of health. More patients are staying than leaving.
How big is the family? Ages, sexes and relationship?
Orsini is well, but subdued. Only a few students are at the school and he can take time to talk. He is anxious to know where you've been. He's been worried since you didn't show up.
He cautions you to think before involving friends, or anyone, in adventures like Blackjack's. "I am honored that thinking I was Blackjack, you wished to help me. That you so valued our friendship. But I must question your judgement in bringing your friends along. It is one thing to involve yourself in these matters, and quite another to involve your friends and family. Remember anyone associated with a treason suspect will fall under suspicion too." He laughs, "I'm sure Blackjack would applaud you."

CrimsonDM |

10 Neth: Late in the evening, Jeorik is on his way home to Vanders'. It's been dark for hours and the wind is cold. The streets are relatively deserted. Not at all the usual urban bustle that surges along the thoroughfares.
At the house Dorman greets you. The supplies laid in, he's considering closing the house. Trying to isolate the family from the plague. He asks Jeorik's opinion.
11 Neth:
Jeorik is up early again. Even fewer Guards muster in the morning. Today it's not bridge duty. You are assigned to Cressida Croft's staff for the day. The Marshal looks worn, and worried. She and her staff are trying to juggle shifts and manpower to cover the Physician escort patrols, the increased temple security, and bridge checkpoints. They've already scaled back some of the normally manned stations around the city. The Grey Maidens have taken over all security for Castle Korvosa. Tomorrow they expect about 10% fewer Guards. The Marshal asks everyone for ideas.
Kenan: Just before dawn there's pounding on your door. Donitello, who's still healthy, has had enough of interrupted sleep. He beats you to the door screaming abuse at whoever is knocking. He shuts up when he opens the door. It's the Varisian crone, Willya and two slope-browed men, one of whom is sharpening a long knife. "You, Kenan. Come. Must see."

Emerion Brightsmith |

Emerion assures Orsini that he will be both discrete and that he is now well, but that the needs of the city currently outweigh his duties.
"I think the best way the people of Old Khorvosa can be served is if we strive to contain this plague - when I came here today there were notably few guards about, and those I spoke to said many have failed to report for duty for sickness. Perhaps I and some of the more able students could assist the Khorvosan guard in aiding the doctors about their work?"
I have placed updates for Emerion's family in the discussion thread and in his background.

Nice family tree you've got there. Really nice.
Robban Brightsmith – patriarch sick 2 days.
Andrezi Brightsmith – Emerion’s uncle -- healthy
Narcizia Brightsmith, sick.

sisters Zeldana and Anca, well, sick 3 days
Iolana Grigoreson – Emerion’s Aunt, she married a haulier (Henric Grigoreson) -- both well.
Katelin and Iozif -- both out of town
Silviu Brightsmith – Emerion’s father, married to Alika. both complain of tiredness.
older brother and sister, and Esmeralda. 1d100 ⇒ 19
Eugeni has married Korva, a daughter of a Chelaxian merchant-prince -- well last time anyone saw them a few days ago.
Esmeralda married Marcian Sanderson, an Andoran trader -- Esmeralda is well. Marcian is out of town.

Emerion Brightsmith |

Well, I reasoned that they would be a big family <grin> and you'd want some, ah, 'ammunition'.
Emerion will ensure they are receiving attention of a healer, and will track down and check on Eugeni. It is likely that the house will be 'sealed' so that Emerion will have to ensure they get treatment and sufficient food taken to them. He will urge them to tell him if anyone gets critically ill, as he has some contacts now with the Pharasmen.

Every second day Kenan will take a trip to see Heather and Istas, to visit with shani and update him on how things are going. Also he will fit on in some time with Davaulus, probably as much to find out how useful the man can be in the future.
Kenan is adamant that Trails End needs some kind of proper infirmary and he will co-op the first decent building he comes across for the job, maybe an unused church or disused theatre, setting Donitello and his family to help him, paying them, and gradually building a workforce. Anyone who brings him a victim or asks for help will be told to meet at the infirmary. To bring essentials and note that work is obligatory for the healing of their family. if they will not help then Kenan is just too busy with others less cowardly folks.
He calls the infirmary The Lighthouse and will bring in any other healers in the area if he can persuade them. probably Ishani will be asked to provide bits of support to also make the infirmary viable.
When Kenan meets Heather, Istas and Emerion he takes time to find out how things are progressing with them.

Kenan, 9 Neth:
As I mentioned Doctor D in the best inn in the city, down by Castle Korvosa. Not too far out of the way if you're going to Grey to see Heather and Istas.
The good doctor is conferring with Ishani and two of the wealthier healers you recognize from the meeting. He welcomes you effusively. Ishani also greets you warmly. The other two look slightly wary.
Davaulus quizzes you about symptoms of your patients and their numbers and type (age, sex, race, social station) He gets quite excited.
Then he asks about your elixir, including your modifications to Ishani's formula, and it's efficiacy.
He can't be much direct help now. "The need in the city is more pressing. The population here is greater than Trail's End and more closely packed. If Bloodveil gets a strong base it could decimate the city. You see that, don't you. And my charter from the Queen only concerns the city proper. I will try to talk with her and get you some help, but I can't promise anything. You must be patient. When we have the city under control, I will send help."
What else would you like to know?
You are successful setting up a clinic of sorts. There are no large buildings save warehouses and the one inn in Trail's End, but a family with two sick children and sick father gives you the use of their house. The mother and healthy child move in with her sister, whose family provides you with an additional patient, a teenage boy. The house is three rooms. You can crowd about twenty people in two of the rooms and leave a decent work/waiting area in the kitchen. On the tenth another house is similarly volunteered.
Kenan : 11 Neth morning:
On the floor lie three vials, labelled as "Cure-alls" I'll provide te actual name when I can find my notes.

Istas Wraithscar |

Istas seeks out Father Corvin to eventually let him know she too has the beginnings of Bloodveil.
"Apparently, Urgathoa is doing all she can silence me, Father," she tells him, "But I don't think she counted on my strong Shoanti heritage. A lesser woman might be slowed by this disease. But I refuse to be. Let me know where I'm most needed. But, in all honesty, I doubt there's much that can be done treating the ill one patient at a time. I'm anxious to find the root of this problem. And, in so doing, perhaps we can find a cure for it."
When Kenan and Emerion check in from time to time, Istas takes care to hide her condition from them. In truth, despite her boast to Father Corvin, she feels somewhat embarrassed at her inability to resist the disease. It's both an affront to her belief in the strength and spirit of those born of Shoanti blood, as well as her faith that Pharasma would shield her from Urgathoa's taint.

11 Neth, morning : Kenan
****
"You Chel. You work with Chels. " It's obvious that your elven heritage doesn't much ameliorate the offense of your other half. "Stop them selling this s*## to my people." Did I mention the family in this house is Varisian?
Kenan, also regarding your clinic -- the midwife is very glad to help there. Willya, as you may surmise, is not cooperative. No help from Davaulus as of 11 Neth AM. You might try recruiting from Palin's COve or one of the outlying towns. But you're looking at least a day round trip.
11 Neth : Heather
11 Neth : Emerion -- an idle morning.
11 Neth : Istas -- Father Corvin agrees more or less, but you need a plan better than walking the streets hoping to see a sign stating "Urgathoa Welcome Here." He's much more diplomatic about it than your humble DM. I like the way she takes the disease as a personal affront.

CrimsonDM |

11 Neth: Jeorik -- A runner from Doctor Davaulus informs Croft that additional guards will be required to escort 10 more Physicians that he has recruited from out of town. Croft and her staff shake their heads. The current escort has already been cut from the standard squad of 5 to three. There was an ugly incident yesterday when a Varisian leathercrafter tried to sneak out of his sealed house. He was accosted by a Physician Patrol, resisted arrest, and hurt two guards and the Physician before he was subdued. There was also a nasty incident on High Bridge when a group of 'merchants' (suspected thieves)tried to fight their way through the bridge check point. It turned into a free-for-all as some citizens tried to help the Guards and others tried to sneak by in the confusion. One of the officers complains, "We just can't cover everything. "
11 Neth Afternoon -- A new decree.
"By Decree of Her Royal Majesty, the Radiant Queen Illeosa I, all citizens of Korvosa are to commemorate the Great Fire by remaining in their homes from sunset of the twelfth day of Neth until the morning of the fifteenth day. It is hoped by an extended period of quiet, prayer, and reflection that we may encourage the gods to favor us by the removal of the scourge, Bloodveil.
The Korvosan Guard and Gray Maidens will patrol the streets. Any person found abroad during the curfew without proper authorization will be subject to arrest.
Violation of this curfew is punishable by imprisonment, public flogging, or death. "
13 Neth, the anniversary of the Great Fire is traditionally observed with a quiet day at home with all flames extinguished, huddled under blankets or furs to keep warm. So the decree is an extension of existing custom, albeit a harsh one.

How does Orsini respond to Emerion's suggestion of helping out the guard?
He thinks it is a good idea, but is personally not interested in making the effort. You have access to the records and have his leave to solicit the students "if you think it will really help."

Emerion Brightsmith |

Emerion will do just that, checking which students are sufficiently skilled (such as Philly Vander) and who are present, and see if he can persuade them to help.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
He will then go with those that volunteer to the Citadel to see Croft and make their offer of assistance.

Jeorik Vandor |

As work piles up for the guard, Jeorik suggests to Croft that she might try to bring back in those companions who had worked with him previously.
"I know some of them were hurt and disenchanted with the work, but this is an emergency and an appeal to their civic spirit might work."
Meanwhile, privately, Jeorik wonders why he should remain in Korvosa. The plague does not seem to be a problem he can help solve. Still, he decides to trust in Erastil's guidance and does not quit the city to return home.

Kenan O'Flarna |

That night, Kenan will pass on the liniment to Ishani with an explanation of its effects. Also he mentions it to the local watch so that they can hold anyone found selling it.
After despite being tired out, Kenan continues on to Palin's Cove and will try to find help in the morning. He dozes with the guards, for a few hours in between - giving them free help and advice for their families in return.
By Noon of the day before the curfew starts he will return to the Lighthouse with or without help and try to alternate between work and snatched rest. Assuming that the curfew applies to everyone, including healers, Kenan will use to first day to continue at work and see how things stand by nightfall.

11 Neth, wrap up:
Jeorik: Croft accepts your proposal gladly. "We could use the help and those were good people. I'd gladly accept their return to service."
The staff meeting drags on all morning with multiple schemes for spreading out the Guard being proposed. Just before the midday meal, a voice tinged with defeat suggests, "Asking the Castle for more help, maybe the Sable Company could take over some of the patrols." As an admission of failure more or less, the idea is obviously distasteful to everyone, but it does generate a few ideas. "Turn over all Castle security to the Maidens." "That would free up dozens of Guards." "What if we blocked off some of the bridges?" "At least A few proposals are drafted and sent by courier to Her Majesty.
Heather:Wonder of wonders your mother listened to you. There's a letter waiting at the family home. They've gone to visit family friends south of the city. There's also a note from your pregnant friend. She's feeling poorly and would like a visit.
Emerion:Just as you depart the school, you see Phillida Vander marching up the hill toward you. She would be delighted to help, but could you help her with this disarming twist she just can't get right?
Istas:The flow into the infirmary has slowed considerably today. The Queen's decree of the ninth has left many ill people waiting at home for physicians.
Kenan:
Regarding the liniament, he's very concerned about that too, but he asks you to take care of it . "Wasn't one of your friends at the meeting connected with the Guard?" Jeorik hanging with Istas.
As a registered healer you receive a letter of authorization to move about during the curfew. It's delivered by courier in the Quenn's livery.
