Guardian glances over at Rift, then heads over to the phone as she seems busy. He wonders who is calling, hating the fact that he can't do something as simple as read a digital display, but not enough to cause a fuss over getting a braille display for the phone.

"Good Morning, Guardian speaking." he states, putting on his best professional voice.

Correct. Currently Tesla sees no reason to abode with the other members of the team. Not when he still has a company to run.

Tesla glances at the recent sales figures, nodding to himself. Despite the team's obvious discomfit at his mercantile usage of his company's name, the added exposure has certainly had a positive affect, especially on on-line sales. He makes a mental note to work that in more with any future interviews. He might even re-configure is Illusion to feature his website in blinking neon pink.

Tesla idly wonders to himself. "Wasn't Guardian suppose to make payment for services rendered? Jeanine, did that ever come through?"

Seems like somebody padlocked the building closed—possibly as some sort of Halloween prank or something. Weird thing is, the entire night staff seemed to be missing.

"The day workers called the local precinct when one of 'em broke into the building, screamed and failed to return.

"“The officers radioed headquarters to say that they intended to use bolt cutters to open the front door. Approximately 7 minutes later, the emergency services dispatcher received a call from car 114. The folder in front of you contains a transcript of the conversation, but this is what it sounded like.”

“Oh sweet lord!” shouts a man’s voice. “Officer down! Officer down! This is car 114, requesting immediate emergency medical assistance and backup!”

“Roger, 114,” crackles a second voice. “EMS and backup are on the way. Can you state the nature of the emergency?”

“He . . . it . . . that thing in there . . . I think it just killed Doug! Looked like it snapped his neck . . . oh my god!”

“Please say again, 114.”

“It was some kind of monster . . . looked like a zombie or something. It grabbed Doug and killed him before I could do anything. Then when I shot it . . . it’s just not possible!”

“114, what is your current situation?”

“I’m at the car. The employees are all leaving, thank god. I’m keeping an eye on the front . . . wait . . . there it is!”

Suddenly, the external walls of the building collapse in a conflagration. An unnatural blue flame bursts through the wall, destroying furniture, walls, and the floor.

When Tesla recovers his wits, he finds he has minor burns on his torso and leg. Jeanine is nowhere to be seen. A few moments later, he locates her at on the floor below, under some collapsed rubble.

This is a temporary complication for Tesla, so I'm awarding you 1 Hero Point.

Atticus wishes his handler a good day, and decides that he hasn't taken a stroll for stroll's sake in a while. Maybe if he left quickly enough, he'd be able to avoid the ice cream van before the incessant jingle gets stuck in his head.

He decides heading to the local mall may be a good place to people watch and such.

"Pull your people back, Detective. I will gather the team and be there as soon as we can!" Guardian hangs up and calls out to Rift. "There's something going on at the Sweet Tooth plant on Union, the police say it's a zombie. We should contact the rest of the team and head out."

He starts texting everyone with his antique flip phone as his mind races. First giant ants and now zombies? What is going on here, this used to be a nice, quiet city.

Snapping his phone shut, he tries to visualize the area where the factory is located. "If I fly us up high enough, do you think you could transport us? We should get there as quickly as possible, they report that at least one officer has already been killed. We can investigate and pull back to wait for the others if things get out of hand."

Tesla experiences one moment of concentrated boredom, and in the next moment all hell has broken loose. He takes pause to freak out unto insanity, and then his blood turns cold and the world descends into an ordered list of priorities, recommended actions, and possibilities of success.

He presses a button on his wristwatch and his armor bursts out of a nearby closet, homing in on his body and it's endless interlocking plates joining and converging to cover him in gadgets and steel.

Unthinking of his own safety, he flies down to where Jeanine lays, and inverts gravity upon the debris crushing her, enabling him to easily lift it off her prone form.focuses his healing ray on her.
Then he turns a knob on his Fatigue ray, transforming it from something that saps the internal mitochondria of energy, to a ray that breaths new life into the basic cells of the body.

The safety of Jeanine thus seen to, the force field flickers to life and he hovers out of the hole in the side of the building, scanning for assailants. "Who would DARE attack Me? HERE? His wounds still plague him, the adrenaline coursing through his brain causing him to forget his mortality for the moment.

As part of the temporary complication, Jeanine won't come out of this right away, but I'm not going to kill her off. Eventually she'll be okay.

The stabilized but still limp form of Jeanine is on the remains of a nearby shelf. Outside the office, Tesla sees no opponent. It would seem the cowards hit and ran.

Guardian and Rift

Guardian flies Rift up into the air (careful not to be too 'touchy') and heads East. The location of the Sweet Tooth factory on Union (near interstate 70) is not far, and they arrive in just a few minutes time.

Stopwatch

For once, Betty's maniacal driving is being put to good use. The woman sports a wicked grin as she weaves in and out of traffic, turning North onto Union and flooring it. "I find that if you hit the lights at 5 over, you do fine. If you hit them at 10 over, you get stopped. But if you hit them at 20 over, you do fine again!"

Stopwatch will arrive in a very few rounds.

Atticus
Atticus arrives back in his quarters in the Thomas Eagleton Federal Courthouse building in downtown St Louis, having just finished talking to Danny. The day ahead of him, he sits down to check his phone, which they had not been allowed to bring into the meeting. As soon as he does, he sees a text from Guardian. Emergency at Sweet Tooth plant on Union.

Theodore stares at his longtime freind out of the corner of his wide, terror filled eyes. He had no guarantee that they'd survive a car crash long enough for him to reverse things, not at this speed. And if they still somehow got pulled over, despite her insistence? Well, he could easily pay for the fine, but his parents would be very upset and he'd be loosing out on time. He wonders in one small part of his mind, if Betty secretly harbors Speed powers and this is just her way of subconsciously letting it out.

"You almost hit that old lady..." He barely manages to mutter, as she drives through an intersection where an elderly woman was passing through. They were close enough that he could count her wrinkles.

He shrugs, and prepares to head out. Atticus turns on the ol' mental phone and looks for the familiar thoughts of either Guardian, Rift, or Tesla.

Atticus tries to contact them as he slowly makes his way to the Sweet Tooth plant via public transportation.

Guardian and Rift

The factory looks like a large box painted industrial green—as nondescript a structure as you’ve ever seen. As far as you can tell from the outside, it could be anything from a storage facility to a high-tech assembly plant.

It looks like there are three ways into to the building—the main entrance, the employee entrance, and the loading dock. The employee entrance is closed, but that door and the surrounding wall are pocked with holes, probably from a shotgun blast.

The only windows in the plant surround the front entrance and line the northeast corner of the building.
The shades are drawn in all of them.

There are housings for several ventilation fans on the roof, but the only external access to them seems to the drainpipes that run down the walls.

Two semi-trucks are parked at the rear of the building, next to the loading dock. Each is marked with the
Sweet Tooth, Inc. logo.

A police officer runs over from the barricade they've set up across the parking lot as soon as he sees you.

"Sarg, them Regulator guys are here!" A slightly older officer comes forward to greet you.

Reece Wells wrote:

Tesla

Emergency services are pretty quick to arrive, it being morning on a workday. By the time they do, the security and first responders from the building have come in and found all the injured, with Tesla's help. It's very fortunate, Tesla reflects, that no one was killed in a blast that powerful.

EMTs are taking away the wounded, including Jeanine, who they insist is in good health, aside from the coma. She'll be taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital, in the brain trauma ward.

At this time, I can weave Tesla into the main story, or he can try to get more information on the attack. Which avenue, or some other, would Tesla like to pursue?

Checking his phone, Atticus determines they're out of range, about 5 miles away to the Northwest. He's getting ready to head out and look for a cab or a bus, when he remembers that Mr. Washington (no way that was his real name) had ordered a helicopter made available to him for official business with the hero team. Seemed like a good time to take it for a spin.

Guardian is caught off guard for a moment, but he quickly recovers, thankful that his mask hides his surprise. Regulators, is that what they are calling us? I can't say it's very flattering, but I guess it will do if the rest of the team is ok with it...

"We haven't decided on a name quite yet, but you can call us that for now if you like." he says neutrally. "The rest of the team should be here shortly. Have you been able to get in touch with anyone in charge of this company?"

As he listens to the officer's reply, he steps around the barricade to get a bit closer to the building. Let's see if this works.

Taking a deep breath, he focuses all his attention on the employee entrance. Scanning layer by layer, he starts collating the enormous amount of data on this wall of the structure and then beyond it. He starts sweating with the effort of sorting through the several billion, billion atoms and assembling a picture of the rooms just beyond the door.

The interior wall holds a timeclock and a rack of punchcards. Just beyond these are two doors. A security camera mounted near the ceiling is trained on the hallway. Just inside the door lies a body dressed in a police uniform. Its head lolls at an angle that indicates it is certainly dead.

But to the task at hand...are we going loud or soft? I would deign to begin clearing an entrance so that the dark of a building uncontrolled does not play against us...but you people have some odd priorities against collateral damage, so I must needs make certain we are all on the same page at the start."

These might be living people, just affected by a disease or mental control of some kind. We should try to take care of this without any damage to people or property. I'll take the lead. As long as I have time to concentrate, I can examine the areas behind the doors and walls before we enter so we will hopefully know what to expect."

When everyone is ready, he strides over and pushes the door open. Moving past the body on the floor, he stands in front of the Men's locker and concentrates to see what is behind it, trusting the group to watch out for him while he is distracted.

Upon entering, Stopwatch kneels near the body and attempts to look over and determine what exactly killed the man, and how long it's been. Stopwatch's attempt at WebMD is of limited use, but he does notice, as he kneels to check the body, that the floor immediately inside the
door is covered with a fine layer of white powder.

Meanwhile, Guardian notices the following: The floor is covered in square tiles, and a drain is placed every dozen feet or so. At one end of the room stands a pair of shower stalls, and at the other end are
two toilets and two sinks. The middle of the room is lined with metal lockers. In front of each bank of lockers stand two or three wooden benches.
Most of the lockers are closed and secured with combination locks. The few whose doors hang open are partially filled with garbage, used towels, and discarded clothing. There's a door exiting each locker room on the other end, probably entering the shop floor.

The creature seems to have moved beyond the locker rooms and further into the building.

Theodore exerts himself, forcing time to his will. The area seems to be some sort of nexus, causing him to have to focus himself and try again. Shortly, though, the man on the floor, a security guard, comes to.

He coughs and stammers a bit. "Geez, wha happened?" he asks, momentarily disoriented.

When Stopwatch questions the man, he tells the following tale:
Six guys wearing pale robes came up on him carrying pistols and assault rifles. They forced him to let them in the employee entrance, then whacked him with a crowbar.

He gives a nod, smiling at the man beneath his mask. "Thank you, I think you might've saved us quite a bit of trouble later on. Here, let me help you up. There should be some medical teams out front to give you a good once-over just in case. Things are gonna be just fine for you." Helping the man up, he proceeds to help him outside before returning to the group shortly after.

"You all heard him, right? Some sort of... cultists in there doing this. I'll be honest, I have nothing on what magic has, they could be capable of all sots of things besides raising a corpse to their will."

"I can work with that." Atticus says, pointing at the very helpful information source. He then jabs his thumb back at the exit.

"These nice men will hook you up with some ice cream and get you situated while we deal with this."

Your powers don't specifically allow for it, but I'll allow it as an alternate power for the scene by expending 1 Hero Point.
