@Dieredon: Nah its good man, you take it... I'll settle for a Potion of Shield of Faith, besides Skane seems to be the only one in the party who hasn't been dropped yet... ;)

So Skane will be taking one of the aforementioned potions and if/when fixed the Armoured Kilt [which I'll need to buy back from Aleph?]

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Ok, thanks.

@Rianna: Please put my X's on the loot sheet for one Flask of Alchemist Fire and the Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds. Thanks.

I haven't been dropped yet and I do not think I need any of the loot.

We should probably give the CMW to the person with the most hit points... The druid!!!

That's right puny boys and girls. You want to be tough? Sleep in skins of dead animals covered in the blood and gore of your fallen enemies.

Honestly, I don't care who gets what. I just feel that we should pool our money for a wand of cure light wounds a.s.a.p.

If tough equals uncivilized, you definitely have something there, Bjorn...lol.

Really though...do you want the CMW?

Really, I don't care who gets what. Aside from getting together to buy a wand of cure light wounds, it really doesn't matter. Besides, Bjorn would never waste the time drinking a potion when he could be cleaving some body in twain.

See while the big fella extoles the virtues of Berserker mode, Skane is like the Ice Wyrm of the North... a tongue armoured skin coupled with a fearsome bite ;)

and I'll drink my potion before the scrap then get cleaving...

@Wesh: Your spot on man, we've both yet to drop (I have of course jinxed us with this bragging claim) but yeah aplogies for forgetting that!

Wand of Cure Light Wounds is a good shout, should last us a fight or two given how much damage some us ship [not looking at anyone in particular lol]

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

I do not really want the shield of faith potion as it only last three minutes and using it in combat would mean I am using time I could help everyone casting bless or something.

DM:

Know the character's are pretty settled and we've selected feats, traits etc but on Dieredon's advice I purchased the Northlands supplement and it has a trait that fits Skane perfectly:

Born on a Battlefield
Violence was a constant companion in your youth, leaving you jaded to its threat.

Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus to saves against fear and raise
the DC of attempts to demoralize you with the Intimidate skill by
1.

Any chance of swapping out my Jaded trait for this one? Not a major difference but drop a +1 bonus against fear and gain a +1 DC resistance to being Intimidated...

Cheers

DM, Rianna:

I had meant to role play out mending those broken items. I was just waiting to finish role playing out the scene with Bjorn and Rianna first. Perhaps both of those can still be done as an aside?

DM, Bjorn:

In relation to the above suggestion regards a "colour" trait for Skane (Bjorn feel free to look at the spoiler) the Northlands supplement also has the following trait which may be an alternative/better fit for Bjorn (given his background description):

Raised by Berserks
You spent your formative years around berserkers, a rough time that left its mark on you both physically and mentally.

Benefit: You gain +1 hit point at first level and Intimidate is
always a class skill for you.

Okay I know Bjorn would lose the potential +4 damage with the scythe on a confirmed crit but he'd gain a HP and Intimidate would be a class skill...

Food for thought (presuming your open to the idea of these being changed Randall?]

GM & Bjorn:
I had also, I ended up doing some SPT's yesterday and didn't get to a computer until well after Randall had posted. Sorry about that. I can adjust to finishing the reading to town, perhaps after we find a tavern/inn for the night?

Skane:
I don't mind, just state source and trait description on your character sheet. Regarding Bjorn, I'll wait till he gets back to me on it.

The current location, the caravansary is like a mini mall of sorts for caravaners. I'll be watching the thread for a while. You could retcon any RP elements from breaking of camp till reaching Deeptown.

@Rianna, BTW are you getting that MW rapier?

DM randall793 wrote:

Nope, going a different route.

GM, Rianna:
That's fine by me. We'll get into the current scene and finish up at a tavern/inn.

GM, Skane:

That is a cool trait. I think the following are also great with the character:

Honey Eater
Years of eating the fragrant honey of Bjeornshafen has infused your body
with its scent.
Benefit: The guardian bees of Bjeornshafen treat you as one of
their own (see page 26). You gain a +1 bonus to Animal Handling
or Diplomacy checks with bears and ursine lycanthropes.

Grandmother’s Advice
On grandmother’s knee you learned all manner of ways to keep
yourself safe from hostile spirits.
Benefit: Three times per day as a swift action you may perform
a ritual, gesture, or verse that grants you the benefits of resistance
against the spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities of
creature with the fey, outsider, or undead type.

Shaman’s Apprentice
You were raised by a shaman, seiðr, volva, or other holy person. They
taught you respect for the spirits and how best to appease them.
Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus to Knowledge (religion) and a
+1 to Diplomacy checks made with Outsiders and fey.

Okay gang have botted Ash's in game departure... suppose thoughts turn to if we need a replacement?

From my perspective we've healing aplenty in Wesh & (potentially) the Great Bear, skill monkeys in Dieredon & Rianna (who also gives us some arcane leverage), mobile combatants in Dieredon & Brambleknight and meatshields in the Northmen... (not to mention sterling leadership from Skane lol)

Guess the only gap is possibly another arcane specialist?

Am reading RR Martin's series at the moment (inspired by HBO's excellent Game of Thrones) and love the merc company "The Brave Companions/Bloody Mummers"... if we are to stay together as a company by fate or foolhardy deed then perhaps a suitable monicker for the group could be coined?

Bjorn & DM:

Love my suggestion and the Honey Eater traits... not so sure on the other two... Granny Helsingr must have had strapping knees to have the Great Bear sit upon them lol, and I've never seen Bjorn as the protege of a wise man... more as a force of nature perhaps?
My 2 runes worth!

Let's not forget that Rianna can heal too, if only with a wand.

As for a name, I vote for let's wait and see what we earn as a moniker.

GM, Skane:

The other two hearken back to the Fey Foundling feat. We haven't heard back from our intrepid leader yet, so let's wait to see what he has to say.

Bjorn,Skane:
I feel the killer trait seems more appropriate for Bjorn however. And to imagine the hairy Northman a lover of fine honey wouldn't quite fit with his current style.

Currently with the contract over and a heavier purse to boot, the group needs to find something to make them stick together for the meanwhile.

DM & Bjorn:

Yeah guess so... Killer is a damn good trait, just thought the Beserker one fitted well too. Bjorn could be a honey bear lol...

Yeah we do... we're a diverse group, so its not just a "hey lets stick together for no reason other than the last 3 days"...

Deeptown might well throw up some opportunities... but they're best met on a full stomach, good rest and lots of mead lol.

Personally Skane would welcome the chance to purchase a MW Shield or Armoured Coat... [MW Battleaxe is a little too rich for me at present]

Looking forward to what the Festival throws at us!

GM, Skane:

Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan: [as Herger offers a mead horn] I can taste neither the fermentation of grape, nor of wheat.
[Herger laughs]
Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan: What? Why do you laugh?
Herger the Joyous: [laughing, and handing over the bottle] HONEY! It's made from honey!

I see Bjorn as a BIG fan of honey... fermented honey.

Were we not supposed to level once we reached Deeptown?

Sczarni

Leveling would be nice.

As far as keeping the group together, I propose we have a last meal and sleep on it. Perhaps by the time breakfast rolls around we may have a better reason to still be traveling together.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

I think that a thirst for gold and how well we worked together as a combat unit is enough to overcome our differences and seek to stick together for adventure. That is why I suggested as much in the thread. I am confident that sniffing around Deeptown will lead us somewhere.

Bjorn & DM:

Hah! 13th Warrior - top scene and good words... see a bear who loves honey would fit :)

Didn't Rianna's Harrow reading suggest Dieredon's fate was bound with ours anyway? The Norns have foretold it...

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Indeed, tied to yours, and not good...lots of death, if I recall correctly.

Death for those that oppose us my friend! Curveblade and axe will plow red furrows in our foes...

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

No doubt! Loving it...

Bjorn:

Hey Drayen, using this ooc thread sneaky like to sound you out about some concepts that I'm mulling for the merc pbp thread...

(if your already set on a concept no probs, discard what I've throwing you)

Single word names would be suitably scummy - am thinking of Lank; a half orc Fighter [not a brute, more a stealthy scavenger and murderer] - will be agile, nasty and like you said pretty squirrelly bastards

Barrow = dwarf...fighter, or ranger...???

Like the idea of two single name psychos working together - both would have darkvision so would be dead certs for night ops [they then become a necessary evil]

Thoughts? Ideas?? Enjoy the Skane/Bjorn interplay but taking it further into two characters who fight best together would be a whole lot of fun [given they could be nasteeeee]

Cheers man (Randall - apologies for jacking the ooc thread)

Skane:

That is so funny! I had gone to bed by the time you posted. When I got up and saw his response and idea I thought I'd come here and run some ideas past you. Then here you already are!

I agree with the single name characters; preferrably not the brightest candles in the menora. I am all for a race with darkvision for the nighttime advantage. I had a couple of ideas along the squirrelly little bastards theme:

Goblins - Darkvision, small size, 30' speed, +4 racial bonus to Stealth and obnoxious as hell.

Kobolds - Darkvision, small size, 30' speed, +1 natural armour bonus, +2 racial bonus to Craft (trapmaking), Perception, Profession (miner); Craft (trapmaking) and Stealth are always class skills and also obnoxious as hell.

Since some others had posted ideas along the sapper lines, I thought little creatures would be complimentary. Small creatures open up role playing opportunities such as, Napolean complices, twisted evil innocence, gremlins (if we go with this, we we might speak broken, or pidgin english, while in our native language we may speak like the erudite bespectacled gremlin from Gremlins 2).

I am also thinking that regardless of how we go, we should make our characters indispensable by taking craft and/or profession for brewing alcohol. We can be the group's uberhootchmeisters.

Randall, my apologies as well for the threadjacking.

Bjorn:

Am not a fan of goblins per say, but would a crazy departure lol so you've sold it to me... heheh. Love the gremlins notion and pidgin Common sounds fun too [what's it with our characters and two languages!] - night scouts, hooch makers, throat slitters and shiney stealers lol. Want our boys feared and mistrusted lol

Am thinking of going Goblin Barbarian with the Breaker archtype [would try and Sunder armour etc] - use sneak and flanking to nail foes, with the Barbarian Bite attack being an option... see him as a stinky little scavenger [Breaker's get ability to use any weapon that is broken later on...] Open to ideas though...

Again Randall apologies :)

Skane:

Should have done this last night: cole@spork.com

There is always kobolds if you don't like goblins. Hell, with kobolds I think the GM will feel bad for us being so weak and offer to give us something. Either way is fine by me.

Sorry, Randall. Shouldn't happen again.

Skane & Bjorn:

THREADJACK

I have a feeling that by the end of the game day, there will be some good times had.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Does Bjorn speak common? Does he understand me when I am talking to him, or do I need to direct all of my words through Countless? Is he choosing to ignore me, or does he just not understand me?

@ Dieredon: Not a word, best talk through me ;)

@ Rianna: Yeah think so too...

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

@Countless: Sounds good...will do.

Bjorn's player just missed responding to you, is all. It is the middle of the night for him (just like right now). Bjorn will take matters into his own hands and provide his player with corrective discipline. Learning to type with the one hand Bjorn leaves him will give the player something to do at work.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

LOL...awesome Bjorn. Did not realize the time difference. Want to ask though...does Bjorn understand or speak common? So far, there is no indication that he does. I will keep communicating through Countless unless you tell me different.

Bjorn did speak to the rest of the party in common once. He did just speak in common upon sitting down, too. He has responded to most everybody in the party, most recently when Betony exclaimed that the table was broken.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Very good, then I will keep trying

Damn there goes my mischief making opportunities through bad or literal translations lol.

If you want to see what I mean read the last spoiler from Skane when he translated Dieredon's request lol...

Ah good times - am loving this game!

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

At least we are not fighting the broken table leading to a TPK.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

@Vesh: Not yet anyways.

@Countless: I am sure that you will have the opportunity for some of that translational mischief...

Sczarni

@ DM::
I would like a masterwork scorpion whip, but I realize I don't have the gold to buy that and a masterwork harrow/fortune telling deck at the moment, perhaps later. That is what I'm looking for, and now that you have put up the fortune teller post on the notice board, I would like to find her and see if she can tell me my fortune. I did do a reading with my harrow cards for myself. I was planning on posting it after I posted Bjorn's, but I won't do it if the fortune teller does one. If you want, I can post a picture of the spread.

Okay, that was more than I initially intended.

Sczarni

@Dieredon: Thanks for covering the room. You'll get compensated. I totally forgot that until I had already committed to the shopping trip. I'll sing and dance for the Inn when we get back to make up for my forgetfulness.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

NP...good luck on the shopping trip. Maybe we will catch up at the Festival if you go to the reader?

Like we didn't learn from the last encounter not to split the party... here we are in 3 seperate groups lol!

Joking aside hope everyone's having as much fun as the Northmen are about to...

DMRandall:

Great game and atmosphere in the festival man - Shot of Drink is inspired :) Really enjoying this! Kudos to you sir

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

A little different...danger is not really lurking around the corner this time. I hope that we will be able to meet up in the bazaar? Good luck with the drinking game. GM Randall was inspired with that one! Love it!

@Dieredon: Yeah I know on the face of it there's not a clear danger, but I'm just getting a nagging Wickerman style feel about the festival lol

"Stay frosty people"

Sczarni

Anyone still out there? Has our game died? Or are people just that busy now that summer is here?

male Human (Varisian) cleric 2

I am here its just I really cannot figure out anything to say in character that is appropriate.

Male Moon Elf Fighter (Arcane Archer of Kyonin) 3; HP: 28/28; AC:14; Initiative: +3; Passive Perception: 12; Second Wind 0/1 (SR or LR); Action Surge 0/1 (SR or L); Arcane Arrow 1/2 (SR or L)

Still hanging for the Northmen to finish the game and land our next job!
