Easy there fella...I never read anyone's spoiler. I was simply responding to Ash and her comment about linguistics. As for your conversation while gesturing at me, I simply asked if you spoke common.

You wrote that you directed your comments to Bjorn, Skane and Ash. That reads as though you were responding to all three. Since you said you weren't, that's good enough for me. :)

I posted on the other thread, but it seems we are stepping over each other as we jumped the gun a bit on DM_Randell here in the OOC thread.
The events taking place seem to be the first night on the road. Camp is being set up. Betony will be joining the caravan shortly, but is not there now, as was the case in the OOC thread above. Everyone else has at least spent the day in sight of each other if not already met as is the case of our northmen.
Hope that helps

@Betony: NP...we will just ignore Betony's inclusion in the past OOC thread. Some of us have picked up just fine in the PbP thread for now. Looking forward to your arrival!

Am concious guys that with the time zones I might well be crashed out when a combat situation kicks off. Would hate to hold things up, so as a "default" first round action Skäne will pretty much always open with using Berserker's Cry [see my character sheet for details]
His particular song is:
Deyr fé, deyja frændr,
deyr sjalfr it sama.
Ek veit einn at aldri deyr:
dómr um dauðan hvern!
Cattle die, kin die,
we ourselves die also.
I know one thing that never dies:
the honours of all the dead!

I am not certain, but now that Bjorn has joined the action, absent protecting Rianna, I need to force the issue with the bowmen. I am hoping that Betony and her mount join me. Our movement should prove effective in tracking them down.
Dieredon D'atarisian
Coup De Grace would be an option for anyone interested. Dieredon would not, but someone else may not have personal issues with that.
Skäne “Countless” Ingvârssonn
Don't think Skane would have an issue... but its those damn crossbow snipers we need to deal with.
Have asked one of the more perceptive party members to shout me in the right direction over in the game... hopefully I'll draw their attention for a while.
Agree ulitmately Dieredon and Bethony are best equipped to hunt them in the dark.
Betony Avilia
I will get after the archers as soon as I get these dogs off of Ash. Betony is ready for her action but it directly depends on what Ash does since we are fighting the same creatures and she goes first.
But I am intending to move into flanking position one of the dogs if she wants to delay. Next round will be setting off for the woods(hopefully)

Dieredon was informed earlier that even with Low-Light vision, without a light source, it is too dark to see outside of the camplight fire. You may want to have a light source. It would make you easy targets, but at least their position will be revealed.

Yes, but with low-light vision, the radii of the campfire's light are doubled 20' normal light becomes 40', dim light to 40' becomes 80'. That gives us twice the distance to go and still be able to see without tripping over obstacles.
Dieredon D'atarisian
Feel free to check the spoiler to me about halfway down page 2 of posts. Specifically it addresses not being able to see beyond the road, and I think, correct me if I am wrong, that this is less than would be normal for low-light vision based on number of squares.
Dieredon D'atarisian
I certainly am...I just posted all I know in a shout regarding the "potential" whereabouts of the bowmen. It is as good as any other place to start the search. I assume that the Trader's caravan is the one furthest East on our current map.
randall793
Well Dieredon, Bjorn is quite right in this case. I've already considered elven low-light on your account, that's why it is in spoilers.
I'm using 20ft normal, 40ft dimmed for campfire, x2 for low light ie 80ft dimmed for elves.
The darkest shade on the map corresponds to what you remember during your travel but under fog of war. Brightest - Normal, middle - Dimmed.
@Skane, Bjorn thanks for the banter.
Skäne “Countless” Ingvârssonn
Think your just getting your misses out early - from here on in you, Razorleaf and Thistledown will be like a Bramblebuzzsaw ;)
Crit King Wesh - I'll hold for you next round as I got the impression you were heading towards Skane to heal him? (if there's not someone in more desperate need after the next crossbow shower...)
Dieredon D'atarisian
Now that the immediate threat of the dogs is handled in our vicinity, I am off to aid the Northmen with the bowmen!
DM randall793
Okay, first combat over. I'd welcome any comments regarding it. Made a few errors myself here and there. I want to just remind that hitpoint notification is useful to the dm, but makes the spells status and deathwatch et al not useful. So, you could change by informing general status such as uninjured, scratched, lightly injured, at death's door and so on. Let's give the cleric something to think about.
Skäne “Countless” Ingvârssonn
Agree on the status, will make for a better game. Think as long as the combat flows reasonably well, the odd error (on either side) is no biggie. Not sure how much detail etc your looking for Randall?
Personally I enjoyed it, was interested to see how a pbp combat would play out (this being my first foray into pbp). Was concious of perhaps champing at the bit too much...
Would be interested to also know how everyone's finding the characters and roleplaying element thus far?
Dieredon D'atarisian
I am enjoying it throughly. I agree on the status, a nice twist. I think that the characters will work nicely together. Randall: great job...love the maps...some of the best that I have worked with in PbP.
