I am REALLY digging on Walter as a character. His diffident studious intellectual explanations are a joy to read and do so much to breathe life into the character. I cant help feeling Karrik will be characterised by arrogant knowledge where Walter will show the otherside of that same coin.

Dragomir Vuk |

Hey! Who you calling arrogant and.... oh... I guess that was part of the concept. :)
Agreed on Walter's posts, but I'd say i'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of character development in general in this game.
Good job, everyone. It's fun to read along. :)
Its gonna take some time for us to all settle in as a party but looking forward to more of Karrik's RP - he is an intriguing character and his past RP has been mind twisting (a little) for Dragomir.

Absolutely. I think Cyn did a good job putting together the characters, and they provide a very wide spectrum of lenses. And the writing is fun to read.
Now someone kick open the door.

Hey Cyn, how would you feel about adding a link to the current map on the Campaign info page? Might be easier than having to keep posting it in the game thread.
It's much of a muchness for me, really. If I have to update the map anyway, it's not all that fiddly to chuck a link into the post itself.
If the Campaign Info tab, on the other hand, is more convenient for everyone, let me know and I'll do it. : )

So yea, just a heads up that I totally cheated. I don't have Ray of Frost memorized. I did 3 less damage. I shall accept whatever punishment you wish to deal out.
I'm playing a Magus in another PBP, and was I was going through their sheet, it dawned on me 'wait, I took Disrupt Undead over Ray of Frost for flavor reasons.'

I'm fine with either way. I don't know how it works with updating the tab, so I thought I'd throw it out there as I've seen other DMs do it. I usually just bookmark the maps anyway.

It's okay. The spider is still smushed. : )

Hey Dragomir - I know that '2' most likely means you missed but you might want to add in all the bonuses given by our casty friends. :)
FYI - THANKS to the casties for buffing us up. I like having all them pretty bonuses lined up like chorus girls.

Damn those AVDMs!
Arachnids Violating Dragomir's Mellowness!
Indeed and the thing that REALLY pisses me off is that I was braced for undead and to do the whole Ezekiel 25:17 type of thing... and now? Spiders.

Rose Springdawn |

Just want to say that I hadn't even considered closing the lid on the spider swarm again--nice work Raj. : )
Now nobody better suggest traipsing back to town to find a ten-foot pole. ; )
I just happen to have a collapsible 10' pole. It's right here on my belt next to my bat-spider repellant.

I'm only counting a +1. Protect from Evil wont help and neither will Pharasma's blessing. Are their any more?

I dont see why we cant lay down some decanted alchemist fire around the thing later and then open it up along the same time we hoist a fire bomb over to land on its side... fire goes around and not IN the empty space. May not kill em but would hurt the little bastards depending on how many affected squares they occupy

We certainly could do that. But with them trapped in the casket, we can polish off their big brothers first and then worry about torching them at our leisure.
I think Alchemist's Fire torches on exposure the air... so we can't pour a trail of it around the sarcophagus.

Yea, that was a great idea. Now when we open the thing again, we'll have all 8 of us lined up with vials of acid and fire to throw at the spiders as soon as they come out. There will be a hole burnt into the floor where they used to be XD

Dragomir Vuk |

I think you'd get both:
Inspire - +1 HIT ; +1 DAM ; +1 v Charm/Fear
Bless - +1 HIT ; +1 v Fear
Yep - added that to the post. Thanks.
And Rose? WAY TO GO... that was KICKARSE!
Just hope that Karrik and Flori come on in the next 4 hours or so... That should allow the spiders to finish and then Cyn can post everything before the weekend starts and give us a shot at round 2 over Sat/Sun.

Thirded. Simple, yet effective.

I think IT came up with the same idea at about the same time... although he approached it from a comic perspective. :)
I seem to recall a Looney Tunes cartoon that had a similar scene with Daffy Duck shouting "Close it! Close it!"

Check out 3:50 in this video. Ah, the good old days, when cartoons were just plain funny. : )

Cyn, assuming that Flori and Karrik jump on in the wee small hrs of the Aussie Sat morning, I don't suppose I can convince you to post for the spiders? Leave us the weekend to post round 2 for your review Monday?
Yeah, of course. Provided I have the time, I will make my attacks as soon as Flori & Karrik have made theirs. I'm at home by myself with one of the kids on Saturday and have a full day on Sunday though, so don't expect too much except perhaps for Saturday evening. : )

LOL! You found it! As soon as I saw the opening I knew it was Yosemite Sam and not Daffy who said it - apologies for my poor memory. "Dragons is sooo stupid" became a catch-phrase around our gaming table for many many years, usually in relation to any DM monster that ruined our plans or beat the crap out of us. Good times, good times.

Dang, we were so close to killing all 3 spiders in a single round! Bah, if only it didn't take so long for an archer inquisitor build to start doing real damage XD
I feel bad about that... Even if I rolled a 7 or 8 I reckon I could have made it a clean slate.

Lol, I only got a hit in because I had two rounds to do so XD If you had gotten to do that instead of me though, the spider would probably be dead. I guess that's just how the luck went this time around.

Wow, I wasn't expecting the spider to survive that since it was (I think) already wounded. Well, Dragomir is getting his moment of awesome. :D
And no, I haven't read Preacher... but suddenly that description makes me a bit more scared of Lem, haha.
Preacher is a comic by DC Vertigo that I read about 15 years ago or so. I really liked it then, and I think I’d probably still like it now.
Jesse Custer is a middle-of-nowhere Texas preacher who hates his job. He gets possessed by this spirit (the offspring of an angel and devil) that escapes heaven and gives him the power of the “Word of God”. If he tells you to do something, you have to do it. In the comic his eyes get red and the lettering is red. I like how Jesse pretty quickly figures out that it’s too powerful for a human to have and he really tries not to use it. Instead he just beats the hell out of people in fist fights all the time. Did I mention that his girlfriend is an assassin and his friend is a “hard-drinking, Irish vampire” (as the cover says)? Yeah, it’s pretty crazy. Two of my favorite moments that I remember:
1) Someone sends a hitman with a rifle after Jesse. The guy says: “I know what you can do. Open that mouth and say one word and I’ll put a bullet between your eyes” or something like that. Jesse walks toward the guy, says: “Miss” and the guy has to purposely miss his shot. Jesse proceeds to beat the crap out of him.
2) There’s this character called the Saint of Killers. He used to be a human and eventually took over for the Angel of Death. Anyway, the AoD melted his sword down into two six-shooters (the Saint used to be a gunslinger-type dude in the old West) that never miss and never fail to kill their target. The angels send him to get Genesis (the spirit) back and there is an awesome cover of him with one gun drawn facing a friggin’ ARMY in the desert. The trade is called War in the Sun and if you Google image search it’s pretty easy to find. Here’s the link but who knows if it works.

Yeah, Spider #1 had the advanced template--which I forgot about when resolving its attack on Dragomir. Oops. Still, it would have missed anyway.
Once you get rid of the spider swarm a nice bit of experience will be coming your way. : )

Guys, just a reminder check...
I *think* we still need to;
-Talk to the Sheriff (re; Lorrimors death)
-Talk to that stuck up biddy at the Church (re; Prisoner records, I think we've only details on one prisoner)
I think we've nailed the Whispering Way (I could be wrong) and I think we've got the prison itself down (again I could be wrong).
Is there any other lines of inquiry we've to chase down?

Posted # 500 on the gameplay thread and #600 here.... :) Sorry, couldn't resist.
Just an FYI I never see ... "Just playing my character" as an excuse to be a jerk but IC Dragomir IS suspicious by nature. I also have been aiming for a 'man on the street / commoner feel' to the character. I want to portray (initially at any rate) the feel of a normal Ustalav.
He isn't arcane, educated or experienced on the magical or mysterious - priest magic is from 'god'... A miracle. The other stuff? Ranges from 'magic, all unnatural like', to 'witchery' to the extremes of devilry, necromancy, black sorceries. A LITTLE xenophobia is going to leak through. I'll try to keep it at the level where it's just flavour and not bastardry. Let me know if/when it is a problem.
That said Dragomir has known you all of, what? 12-18 hours? Already he's robbing tombs with you.
