Fritz Fratz |
"Yes, Auntie Fitch. But a distant aunt, I think my great grandfather and her great grandmother once made out or something like that. With us Ysoki it is better to call everyone aunt, uncle or cousin. We are probably related somewhere."
He pulls out the big gun
"But there is a job to do, if it this is anything like that 'zombies in space' thing I saw the other day on the interwebs we will be assailed by the living death in three, two....." he jumps into the next intersection now!"
Seeing the empty corridor Fritz looks at the other Starfinders "What? That they aren't here does not mean they are not on the ship!"
GM SFS |
Hyper-alert, Torith and Kiv are startled by Zoey's sudden singing!
OP-1 logs into the camera system and cycles through views of E-Deck: it is quite empty, and is evidently a heavily underused section of the Master of Stars, consisting of various primary access corridors and adjoining chambers.
Most side rooms are crew quarters or communal living spaces—far less important locations due to the recent shortage in personnel due to the sad Scoured Stars incident.
You think of all these Starfinders, trapped behind the force field, will Second Seeker Luwazi Elsebo do something about this?
Suddenly, snapping out of your thoughts, you all point at the screen-- and OP-1 cycles back a bit: yes, you did see movement.
Two human children are hiding in an empty storage room!
Someone seems to have sent you an Echo.
Kiv {Ilsia Kivulia} |
"Or they are lost stowaways. Say, we're any of the lost Starfinders parents? We may be dealing with orphans. Scared orphans alone on this big creepy ship. Let's go get them."
Kiv {Ilsia Kivulia} |
Kiv gets herself ready to be 'maternal' and heads into the area.
"Hellooo? Kids? We saw you on the monitor. You must be terribly afraid right now. My name is Ilsia. Let me help you."

GM SFS |
You go down the corridors, to the part where you saw the kids on the monitor.
Looking into the room you see scattered barrels and boxes lining the lowered floor of this storage chamber.
A thick bulkhead to the port side leads farther onto the deck, while a similar bulkhead to the aft connects to an arterial hallway that runs the length of the deck.
Kiv calls out.
No answer. Nothing moves.
Kiv spots some movement, but, before she can add anything, you all hear loud whispering.
A boy's voice: "Oh praise the stars we've been found they'll help us!"
A girl's voice: "Hush you sissy! They'll punish us!"
Neroo from Absalom Idol |
Good morning guys! I'm Neroo from Absalom Idol! You must recognize me!
Says Neroo moving inside. Look! You're on camera! she adds showing her drone in bad shape.
What are you doing here? Where are your parents?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 10 + (1) = 27
Zoey Strawberry |
Really? Let's be careful... Zoey whispers to Fritz, then proceeds to be anything but.
She runs up to the kids, then softly punches Neroo on the arm. Neroo! I thought your name was Thewan!
Hi kids, this is Neroo, and I am Zoey! She puts her hands under her face to make a flower shape. Don't worry, we're not going to squeal on you...

Torith Volandis |
Torith stands by quietly while fully expecting some kind of horrid monstrosity to attack through an air vent at any moment. He remains calm and leaves the talking to Neroo and Zoey.
He mutters under his breath to Fritz "I'll take your wager. I think these younglings are bait for something larger."
OP-1 |
Not knowing how to deal with small humanoids OP-1 hangs back and watches how the others handle this.
"...unless they transform into horrible undead, then I'm blasting them with my gun..."

The girl's voice answers Neroo: "Go away! We are SPACE ZOMBIES! Boooooo!"
The boy's voice: "NEROO?! I love you! I NEROOOOOOO ! voted for you!

Boy: "Did!"

Seeing Zoey suddenly appear:
Boy: "Go away! We're not here!"
Girl: "Oh! Hello!"
Neroo from Absalom Idol |
I'm sure you vote for me, I'm the best! says cheerfully Neroo.
turning to Zoey she says. no, I'm pretty sure my name is Neroo, not Thewan...
Then, she turns back to the kids and says.
What are you doing here? Where are your parents, they must be scare to death! Or may be you are in a secret mission and you need secret agents to do it? Secret agents like us!
What can we do for you, secret agents !?

"..I'm pretty sure these children are not secret agents..wait...could they be? .and are they still undead...does that mean, they are undead secret agents?.."
OP-1 processes what is going on around him, hoping to at some point make sense of it all
GM SFS |
The kids listen to you all, alternating between smiles and frowns.
Boy: "We are secret agents too!"
Girl" "You aren't, I am!"
Boy: "I am, you aren't!"
Girl: "You didn't think of the trap!"
Boy: "But I set it up!"
You see the kids are pointing to the wall thermostat near the door to the west.
Passage to C2
It has been fiddled with: if anyone goes too close their heat will set off the fire suppression system, hosing them down with gallons upon gallons of fire retardant foam!
Engineering DC15 to disable thermal sensors
The kids start blabbering together: "We are Kieu Lan and Kieu Si, dad, Kieu Kein, lets us play around here every day now. Well, he has too, 'cause mom's busy in the Sour Stars. Yeah, well, that's when we found Friend. Friend's cool. Even if he don't speak. You don't need to speak to be cool. But he eats a lot."
Neroo from Absalom Idol |
While Neroo disable the termal sensor she asks A friend? That's great to find a Friend! Can you introduce us to him or her?
And if he eats a lot, may be we can help you feeding him or her?

I understand why your Father let you play here. Yes, I think your Mum is quite busy at the moment.

"Mommy is baking us a cake. A really big cake. That's why she's taking so long. It'll be a great cake. The bestest. But I'd rather just see mommy and not have any cake. Me too. But Friend would like to eat cake. Friend likes to eat anything..."
As they go on, you understand that Friend eats many strange things, and chewed on some electric cabling and other internal ship components, causing the power outage.
Kieu Lan and Kieu Si wound up trapped when the lights went out.
Unable to communicate with anyone on the ship as Friend had gobbled up their communicators, they lacked the strength to force open the closed doors on either sides, so they were stuck in the lightless storage room.
Friend is in the room past the ex-trapped door.
Kiv {Ilsia Kivulia} |
Friend is in the room past the ex-trapped door.
Yeah...this is gonna go well
Seeing that Neroo has the sensors well in hand Kiv tries to find out a little more information.
"I had a Friend when I was younger, maybe they are related. Can you describe your Friend?"
Torith Volandis |
".. how big is your friend? I've met a number of 'friends' over the last couple of days and one was rather large, so i wonder if this is anything like my 'friend' from earlier."
GM SFS |
The boy and the girl continue babbling at the same time: "Friend is like my boot. Rather like the fire extinguisher. No, like a fork. Not true! True! Not! Not "not"! Like the lamp. Well he's hungry. Yeah, Friend is going to eat the whole ship up. And we'll die in space. And we'll be space-zombies!"

Let's help your Friend to find a better place for him or her.
Neroo make sure her Drone is on Stun mode and make a sign to her comrades to move closer to where the "friend" seems to be.

As soon as Fritz opens the door... a wave of stifling hot air boils out, covering his fur in thick dew.
Inside, past the door, the environment is
extremely hot.
Steam fills the area and the Ysoki can barely see past his whiskers.
Treat the entire area as a non-magical fog cloud.
GM SFS |
Fritz is okay, just lost in the fog.
Neroo cannot see much... the fog blocks the vision.
OP-1 |
OP-1 brings up the ships schematics and looks for the air ducts and a possible way to open them and suck the fog out of the room
Or seeing how it's steam to turn the air conditioning on full and just cool the room down so the steam will turn to drops of water and fall to the floor.
Kiv {Ilsia Kivulia} |
To the child 'spies', "So, does your friend have a cool codename or something? Oh, does your friend have an exotic accent or anything?"
The more these two talk, the less they say.
GM SFS |
OP-1 pulls up schematics, and accesses vents and such... but realizes that things are not working: the failure is localized.
The kids answer Kiv: "Friend, that's his name. Yeah: Friend! Friend is cool. And he talks like this: Munch munch. Or: Chew chew."
Passing the door, you see this area consists of two adjoining chambers.
Moving around slowly in the fog, checking things as they appear, you find four large containment capsules that nearly fill the fore room
Three of them hold stasis-locked objects, including a tablet, a strange curved sword, and an odd spiral of bioluminescent coral.
A crack leaks fluid from the fourth capsule, which displays a foot-wide breach near the bottom.
You even venture carefully into the aft room... but no Friend there to chew chew or munch munch you.
This part contains several desks, each hosting a deactivated computer terminal.
As you look around,, you can make either a Survival, Perception, or Culture check/
Torith Volandis |
"Do you think your friend will be our friend too? I hope so." says Torith as he wanders further in to the room.
He looks around to to try to find this "friend".

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
GM SFS |
Neroo and Torith flail around in the fog, not seeing anything, nor why it is so darn hot in here, and so steamy.
Kiv moves past the fire extinguisher on the wall, and looks into the other room, but, with the steam, cannot see much. So she moves back past the soap dispenser and...
Soap dispenser? Wasn't that a fire extinguisher?
As Kiv turns around to study this, she sees that the soap dispenser that is exactly where there used to be a fire extinguisher turns into a rubber ball, like kids would use, and bounces away into the fog.
Kiv {Ilsia Kivulia} |
"IT'S A SHAPECHANGER!!
Culture: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 <---would this skill work to identify it, or is it more of a Life Science thing?
Zoey Strawberry |
Cute! Zoey exclaims, now I understand why the kids like it.
For lack of a better idea, she tries to lure out the creature with a song:
I think only of you all day
I am worried cause you're busy
You say you eat well
But I know it's only
bread, bread, bread
You say you need to work
You are extremely busy
I can see you wither
On coffee and an empty stomach
Today, for you
I got up before dawn
And made you something
With sugar, eggs
and flower and love!
Are you hungry?
Nom nom nom nom nom nom
Nom nom nom nom nom nom
Chop chop chop chop
Chop chop chop chop
GM SFS |
It does not seem interested in the song.
Kiv does not know what it is.
You can try Life Science or another Recall Knowledge skill
As you look around in the fog you try to spot something out of place that might be what it changed into.
You can make either a Survival, Perception, or Culture check.
Torith Volandis |

Fritz Fratz |
The dampness causes Fritz' fur to stand up straight. The fuzzy ball of fur that was once Fritz growls "I hate it when that happens!".
He looks at where Neroo is pointing and levels his gun "Can I shoot it?"
GM SFS |
In the fog, Torith bumps into the wall: Who moved that there?
Nerro and OP-1 spot a very nice poster: Join the Starfinders, showing a beautiful view of space... but that is pasted just above a broken thermostat, that the poster is chewing on!
Located the Alien you did.
But Neroo has no idea what this thing might be. It seems like an unknown species.
What Neroo does understand, is that it is obviously an electrovore, a species that likes to feed of electricity, and maybe that feeding it like that will fill it up.
Torith Volandis |
"Oh my gods it's the wall!" shouts Torith as he stumbles backwards and almost falls over.
Kiv {Ilsia Kivulia} |
Whispering to Neroo, "I'm kinda with Fritz on this one. Still, I have an idea." Pulling the battery out of her pulsecaster, Kiv walks up to the 'poster'. "Hey Friend. I got something for ya. Want to try this?" She gingerly offers the battery by gently holding it against the image of the Starfinder logo.
