Wrath of the Righteous - Rise of the PCs! (Inactive)

Game Master Lord Manticore

What do you get when an android crosses paths with a Balor Lord? I hope to find out.

House Rules, as of 8/18/14):
*Rolls of nat 1 are NOT automatic failures; your just having a bad day.
*Please do not metagame. I am aware enough to know that I'm not the only one who bought the books, and I suspect that many to apply will have read up on the AP and are likely to plan out their characters. I am fine with that, just don't make it obvious in my campaign.
*Maps - I like them, but my iPad Mini, where I do the bulk of my posting and gaming these days, does not. I am open to ideas (no, Google Drive/Draw is not a big fan of my mini computer either, I've already tried), and even to people who want to draw out the maps for us. Until we get a good permanent solution, we'll be doing combat in a cinematic style; I'll explain everything with enough detail that no one is likely to get confused.
*Leveling Up Characters - I ask that hit points be rolled in the discussion thread, mainly to keep it separate from the campaign, but also to see how good (or bad) your rolls are. If you're rolling a 1 and I can see that you can't seem to roll above a 5, I'm likely to cut you a little break. Also, I ask that you post a minimum of HP, AC, CMD, and saves on the toolbar below your character's name. Anything extra I leave up to you.
*Spell Components - In my campaigns, I have always assumes that spell casters had the majority of the components to cast spells. We could have characters go out and make expeditions to find more ingredients, as well as going to town to buy bushels of pearls and bat's wings. I prefer that to be just background stuff. Assume that any character that can cast spells has the Eschew Materials feat, for the purposes of casting most spells. There are, however, a few exceptions:
*The following specific spells require components: identify, raise dead, resurrection, true resurrection.
*If using a wish or a miracle spell to emulate a spell, you will need the required spell components, as per the instructions under the aforementioned spells.
*Use of the permanency spell will require any spell components required of the spell(s) to be made permanent, if any.
*Something that I had noticed when looking this over (on 8/18/14) was that I failed to add in a long used house rule of mine in my RL games; that is this. IF you roll a natural 20 on any skill roll, you get a +10 to your total to determine your score. As the campaign goes along and we gain enough levels, I will be adding some of the 'epic' uses for relevant skills in this section, for those that will be able to roll in the 40's and 50's for their skill checks (that is, without getting the bonus for a nat 20).

Character Creation Updates:
Here is the new buy-in value for stat buys:
    *16 = 5 points
    *17 = 10 points
    *18 = 15 points

'Advanced' Android template:
These are the bullet points for your character as you advance in levels (NOT tiers):
*At 2nd level, and every even level beyond, you gain 1 evolution point (as per the summoner class) that you may apply to your character as you wish. If you decide to take a body part or some equivalent (i.e. claws, wings, etc.), the body part in question will glow in a similar manner to your body and look semi-metallic (think organic metal).
*At levels in which you normally gain a stat point (i.e. 4th, 8th, etc), you also gain an additional evolution point.
*To reflect your anticipated growth over time, at levels 8, 15, and 20, you gain an additional stat point to use as you wish. You do not, however, gain an evolution point at these times.
*You gain an additional use of your nanite surge ability every 4 levels. At 12th level, your skin glows as if daylight was cast on your skin. This effect lasts for 1 round.
*As a racial bonus option when you level, you may add an additional 1/3 evolution point, rather than a skill or hit point. In this fashion, you will have, at most, 21 evolution points to use at 20th level, if you take advantage of this, along with the points already allocated.
*As you gain experience, it is expected that you will learn how human(oids) work and behave. Advanced processors can take this 'wisdom' into account. At 7th level, and every 4 levels beyond, your penalty to Sense Motive drops by 1 point. At 19th level, your penalty will be eliminated.

Android Additions, per Paizo Updates:
The following feats are available to androids only:
  • Empathy Prerequisites: Cha 13, android; Benefit: You lose the emotionless racial trait. You can gain morale bonuses, and can be affected by emotion-based effects and fear effects. You lack the +4 racial bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting effects.
  • Extra Surge Prerequisites: Con 13, nanite surge racial trait; Benefit: You can use your nanite surge ability one additional time per day. Special: You can take Extra Surge multiple times. The effects stack.
  • Nanite Disruption Prerequisites: nanite surge racial ability; Benefit: As long as you are adjacent to an andorid, a robot, or a creature primarily composed on electronic components (DM's discretion), you can use your nanite surge ability as an immediate action to short circuit that creature's hardware. If you succeed at a melee touch attack and the target fails a Will save (DC=10 + 1/2 your character level + 1/2 your Constitution modifier), it takes a penalty equal to 1 + 1/2 your character level to its next d20 roll. This penalty lasts until the end of your next turn.
  • Rapid Recovery Prerequisites: Con 13, Rapid Repair, nanite surge racial ability. Benefit: When you heal damage using Rapid Repair, you remove any and all of the following conditions: blinded, confused, dazzled, deafened, shaken, sickened, and staggered. You cannot cure blindness or deafness due to loss of sensory organs.
  • Rapid Repair Prerequisites: Wis 13, nanite surge racial trait. Benefit: You can use your nanite surge racial trait to heal a number of hit points equal to your character level, instead of its usual effects.

DM Call on the Technology Guide/Iron Gods AP/Numeria Material:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/cybertech
The above is the link on the SRD site for all cybertech (from Paizo). Any cybertech will be allowed from Paizo, 3rd party items on a case by case basis. For example, Archie has taken the 'Clockwork' oracle mystery, which will allow her to integrate some cybertech as part of her class abilities. However, while it exists on our campaign world, it will be very unlikely that it will become available to the PC's until late in the second Book (as part of my planned campaign plot). All rules for integrating cybertech will apply, so those with a low Con score won't be able to take on many additional items. Also, be aware, as your presence in the Worldwound becomes more well known, other factions will be taking a liking to some of the 'toys' that Paizo has made available (via the Technology Guide, among other places).
As for the other stuff, guns are not available. The various armors will become available over time (again, as part of the campaign plot), as well as hypos, medicines/poisons, and other miscellaneous items. Artifacts (i.e. Powered Armor, the 'Cloning Bed' (can't remember the actual name) can be crafted with the right materials, but will require a lot of knowledge across several fields. This contingency will become more likely in the last couple of Books in the AP, and even more so as we extend the campaign out past Book 6. That is all for now.

Prologue: Project Files (4709-Present):
The following files were pulled from a datum site within the Technic League historical archives:
Project Archibald (4709) -
    #Date of Inception: 1 April 4709
#Mission: Observe Mendevian Crusaders to determine preparedness of demonic invasion. Use gathered information to determine if any benefits for the Technic League to become involved in potential crisis. Use of Class 3 Prototype 'Fighter' android authorized for mission. Implanted with a long range wireless transmitter (micro-satellite class) to send data back to A.R.C.H.I.E. Prime.
#End of Project: 6 April 4709 (Subject was victim of first Anhillator sighting)

Project Archimedes (4710) -

    #Date of Inception: 13 October 4710
#Mission: Same as under former 'Project Archibald.' Class 1 'Cleric' Android authorized for mission, nanites capable of 'casting' up to Class 4 'spells' (via projectors in palms) approximately 12-15 per day (depending on wattage used in 'spells'). Implanted with new Greyfang (alpha) internal transmitter, with a transmission range of 500 miles. Coupled with new repeater units (now setup throughout Numeria and surrounding area (see: Project Google)), subject should be able to transmit data in real time back to A.R.C.H.I.E. Prime.
#End of Mission: Last transmission received on 2 November 4710. It is believed that Subject made it as far as Keeper's Canyon, to act in a support role for the crusaders commanding that post. It is believed that the area was overrun soon after arrival, with no survivors.

Project Archimedes, Mk II -

    #Date of Inception: 1 March 4712
#Mission: Same as previous, with the following modifiers: A total of 5 androids to be sent to the front: 4 Class 7 'Evolver' Prototype androids (see attached documation), plus 1 Class AP-02 ('Aasimar Organic'), designed and created by A.R.C.H.I.E. Prime itself. All 5 are implanted with Greyfang (beta) transmitters, with a range of 1000' (slave units) and 600 miles (Prime Unit) respectively. AP-02 (Code name Archie) carries nanite packets allowing it to 'cast' multiple programs per day, and can heal slave units as needed. Further, AP-02 has been programmed to believe in the concept of 'religion,' particularly that the 'diety' known locally as 'Iomedae' actually exists and to worship it as such.
#Status of Project: AP-02 reached Kenabres on or about 11 March. It has been working in a field hospital near the city since that time. Thus far, it has transmitted back no useful information to show either way whether the Technic League should enter the fight with Mendev. The slave units were sent out with a human driver on 5 April. Weather delays will keep them from reaching Kenabres until about 17 April, when there is a local religious holiday. That should give them ample ability to infiltrate the crusade. Slave units are expected to follow programming and start coming back on or about 1 July at the latest. AP-02 has no return date, and is likely to be allowed to self-terminate upon discovery.
#Note: See attached documents concerning dissenting opinions on Project. In particular, that the master AI felt the need to 'create' a lifeform and the use of 'implanted' memories into the slave units.IT IS ABHORRENT AND AN ABOMINATION!
