Duhwoo sez:
"duh, whut if'n we closes up th' chain, so it's a kinda circle or somethin' -- an' then we ourse'fs kneels insida that thar ring we done made o' th' chain? Or make a pose like one o' them dolly's? Supp-lee-caints to meet th' banished queen kinda thing?"

"It is a reasonable guess, Master McKeener. We have labored long to solve this riddle. Given the nature of this tower, it seems likely completing this ritual will take us to somewhere else - maybe somewhere timeless, a "stitch in time". I conclude, then, that perhaps spending but two more hours so that Mistress Avoreal, Master Foehammer and myself may regain our magical energies would be wise. Perhaps Master Foehammer could prepare a planar shift, just in case."

I guess if it was a demanding 7 hours of sitting around talking about the riddle, then no that portion wouldn't be considered rest. I'm not terribly committed to the idea. It would simply be nice not to be on the hairy edge of resource depletion.
| MiniGM |
but it wasn't, it was 2 hours talking about the riddle, then fighting then 5 hours pondering the riddle, then remembering the chains, then getting the chains now you are back.
not trying to be a a-hole but if time is important i have to keep us on track with it.
you might be ahead of the game, or you might be behind the game or maybe it doesn't really matter at all, i can't say for sure

4 spells. Remember the massive number of scrolls I carry? That's exactly why. Nobody can carry enough spells to get through one of these things without resting, we weren't supposed to rest because we're in a hurry.
Duhwoo X. McKeener

Well, Duhwoo has used half his spell slots, and all his rounds of Bardic Performance -- but he don't care none 'bout that! Let's go!
Duhwoo X. McKeener
|
we already know about the proximity before the clock rings activate, so Duhwoo is careful to stay 35' away. He lays the 27-link chain out on the ground, 35' directly in front of the clock, and pulls the ends around into a circle. He fusses with it a bit, trying to make it a perfect circle -- but it doesn't take long for him to give up!
Then he uses his wand to summon an air elemental, and speaks to it in his recently acquired language (auran) -- telling it to step into the circle, and pose like one of the statues (he demonstrates the pose).
Lithuan
|
"Let us move closer to the clock's magic and try again, Master McKeener." Lithuna will move closer to the clock. He then repeats the activity: placing the doll, circling it with a chain, and then walking in the circle.

Duhwoo will help Lithuan set up the chain and hurry the process up, so the archer can step into the circle before the statues disrupt the process.

Fifteen feet I suppose.
Vars Stanic

As I said, watching while bored to tears. If statues need to be beat down, he'll do it, but will wait to see if they get their idea implemented first.
Darvik Foehammer
|
Darvik moves to a position that will allow him to block statues from getting to the people dealing with the chain on the other side of those people from where Vars is and readies an action of attacking anything that attacks any of the party.
| MiniGM |
Woo and Lithuan make a perfect circle with the chain 15 feet away, Avoreal supervises. Vars and Darvik form a barrier which is good because two statues move out of the tower and attack
2d20 ⇒ (12, 13) = 25 or they would had our heroes not won the init.
Go you do note that the statue bases are still moving

I don't believe I can change a readied action. If I can change a readied action, I throw freedom of movement on Vars.
If I can't change a readied action:
to hit: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31 damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
to hit: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42 damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
to hit: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28 damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
to hit: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20 damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13

Assuming I have an adjacent target
power attack.
to hit: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (4) + 28 = 32 damage: 1d8 + 29 ⇒ (5) + 29 = 34
to hit: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 39 damage: 1d8 + 29 ⇒ (7) + 29 = 36
to hit: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38 damage: 1d8 + 29 ⇒ (4) + 29 = 33
to hit: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26 damage: 1d8 + 29 ⇒ (1) + 29 = 30

"Mebbe so, Miss Starseeker!"
Duhwoo carefully positions 4 more dolls in the circle, so there's one to represent each party member.
Lithuan
|
So I'm in the chain circle with the doll? I guess I'll try kneeling (supplicant's position?) while holding the statue.
Lithuan kneels and grabs the statue.

Lithuan steps inside the circle and grabs a statue.
