Quuroog's eyes narrow as she considers the trapper's words. "Bandit coward. He run away, alone and afraid. No longer problem. Stag Lord make bandits. Our friends die because of him. He might think him powerful, attack our tribes. We must learn more about Stag Lord."
She climbs up onto the table so she can talk to the trapper more-or-less face-to-face, "You know Stag Lord? What you know?"

KenderKin |
The gruff man is still backing away from Svetlana's broom.
"I am a trapped, I got the pelts to prove it and I trade with Oleg. That man was the first bandit I have met, and I do not know anyone around here, but Oleg, Svetlana and old Bokken."
The man seems confused....
"Is it just the four of you that killed all but one of a score of bandits?"

KenderKin |
As you are getting to know the smelly trapper more people arrive at Oleg's....
A man likely a sergeant or captain arrives with three young men barely out of basic training you gather from the looks of them….
The man introduces himself to Oleg. ”I am Kesten Garess, these men are under my command and I have been charged with defense of this outpost."
He presents an official letter from the Swordlords of Restov..
DC 20 Knowledge (nobility)
Along with the men at arms another traveler arrives ”I am Jhod Kavken, priest of Erastil.”
The warriors seem to welcome the notion of having a priest in residence.
Kesten directs his men set their small tents up just south of the stable, in the shadow of the palisade….
Jhod: ”It is well that so many of the faithful have gathered, I do hope you can help me seek out a lost temple of Erastil somewhere to the south. A large bear is near the site and in my dreams the bear is not just any bear.”

Kelvaalpaaz |

Grinning at Kesten and the priest, Kel stands upon his chair, evening the height differences as best as possible, before making his own proclamation.
"Greetings friends! I am Kelvaalpaaz, and this is Gufi, Quuroog, and Colvin, chartered by the Crown to explore, chart, and defend these lands!"
He gestures to his comrades as he speaks, his face bearing the sort of grin only a Kobold can pull off.

KenderKin |
The men fresh from Restov stand with mouths wide agape as the guards had been briefed and the priest as well expected a much different set of heroes....
Svetlana pipes in...
"Indeed welcome to the lands where a new surprise dawns with each day, come in and talk I have fresh biscuits and gravy that has never gotten rejected."
The leader of the men turns to Oleg. "We need to assess the fortifications as soon as we can. You two man the walls and close the gates, you others are getting to eat first."
Oleg "of course, I have been making repairs as I can."
The priest Jhod "I too shall come I have magic that can aid in such work and perhaps save many hours of labor."

KenderKin |
The group of men sit down to a hearty breakfast, with you guys still eating as well....
Finally the priest speaks up "I am Jhod a cleric of Erastil, I have traveled far to this place as I have been called here to discover a forgotten temple, as you explore if you find it I will reward you."

KenderKin |
Jhod "It is indeed a temple of Erastil, once part of a kingdom that failed to keep hold of these lands, at least 40 years ago, perhaps longer. Though I dream of it I do not know beyond a tangle of thorns is how I see it in my mind, I take the dream to mean I am to restore it and serve the land from it."

Kelvaalpaaz |

Soggy sneaks back into the area, poking his head through the door; he looks anxiously at Kel. The kobold moves to pat the Krenshar on the head.
Sylvan:"Do not be nervous. I believe they are friends, or at least not enemies."
When that fails to placate the beast, Kel gives a nod to his companions, and leads Soggy outside to do his business.

KenderKin |
The fort is in disrepair everywhere, Oleg has been focused almost entirely on the roofs of the buildings to stop rain from getting in....
The gate has a broken hinge that would require ordering a new hinge or several days work for a blacksmith....
Jhod notes the hinge and he takes the two pieces and casts a spell restoring them to a whole.
"As I have said I have magic, such that we need not fear injury."

Kelvaalpaaz |

Outside with his "pet," Kel takes note of Jhod's quick repair of the gate; his ear frills flap about, those accustomed to Kobolds note it is in excitement, though Kobold ear frills are rather expressive, and the emotion could easily be anything.
"That is a most useful talent, new friend."
Surveying the fort, Kel shakes his head slightly, "We have much work to be done. Perhaps some of the craftspeople from our tribes could be sent to aid?" He speaks in Common, though to no one directly; Soggy is clearly not listening, but those watching get the feeling that the Kobold speaks to his beast often, despite it not understanding.

Colvin "Slick" Dashtail |

Colvin turns to his new friends. "I think we should leave our new longlegs here to make repairs and defend this fort while we investigate this Staglord. Wait here for him to attack does not seem best to me!
A good idea Kel to get our own people's here, if we fight for this land and our tribes belong to it longlegs must see more of us to become more accepting of us!
That is unless some of you think we should uncover this Temple to the longlegs God first..."

KenderKin |
The guard commander speaks up.
"Laborers would speed things along, and make our job of defending the trading post easier."
The guard with him agrees "Secure walls and working catapults would certainly help."

Oleg "A fine offer friends. Let us complete the survey and see what more needs our attention. I know I do not yet have enough lumber to repair it all and expect more in the coming month."

Quuroog |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Quuroog is very quiet, eyes wide, as the new humans come in, and is happy that they seem to get over their initial surprise quickly and accept the companions.
She follows the "real" cleric around. "Quuroog is cleric, but very new cleric. How you do that?"
Bored after a time watching the men survey the fort, she wanders to where her friends discuss their plans. "Jhod see tangle of thorns. Maybe in a hollow in the grassy places? Or in the treespace? Thorns not grow on hilltop much." She suddenly raises a single finger, "No place to hide temple in grassy places! Antler god likes trees! Quuroog think look in trees for holy man's missing holy place!"
She scratches an ear intently for a moment before adding, "Where do Stag Lord live?"
Final final is done done and the semester is completely complete. Happy to escape this one... Sorry for my intermittent presence of late.

KenderKin |
Jhod considers the small creature...."Clerics grow in faith and knowledge and as one grows he or she is given new and more powerful spells. Even now the knowledge of many spells are known to you...from those you pick the ones to have for the day."
Oleg "No one knows where the bandits are, but I am certain as you push them further and further away from here you will find all of them."

Colvin shrugs at the soldiers comments, "Oleg, we can bring laborers here but we need someone to deliver the messages to our people's for us, know you anyone?!
I think we use allies to scout Stag Lord first once we have better knowledges of his strength we can decide what to do about him.
I think me plus Q would like to see an old temple to your God Jhod".
Colvin's begins to chuckle which sounds more like high pitched squealing than a laugh, "Jhod's God!"
Colvin's ears twitch involuntarily, "Kel and Gufi you think this is good idea too right? We get peoples here and settled then we go!"

Kelvaalpaaz |

Kel nods. "We have much to do, but I would not want to do it until our people have arrived."
Friendly though he is, Kel doesn't completely trust Oleg and Svetlana. Their reactions, as well as those of the guards, were the typical responses his kind usually got from "pinkskins." It's obvious to anyone; that's why he made them sign a contract.
"Soggy can take message. He can find me; he knows land and the path well."
The Kobold reaches down and scratches the Krenshar behind the ears, which Soggy responds to by flapping his facial skin.
Sylvan:"Soggy, would you like to run a message to our Chiefs? Bring workers back here to Oleg's for us, and then come find me?"
Soggy looks a bit forlorn, but mewls in a pleasant manner, licking Kel's face. He seems to agree, and Kel confirms it with a nod.
"Soggy volunteers. Colvin, can your..." He wiggles his fingers at the area next to the Ratfolk, lost for the term. "...Your creature. Can it go with Soggy? Keep each other safe, they would, and could move faster with more eyes looking for trouble."

KenderKin |
Oleg "Have you skilled carpenters or lumberjacks? "
The guard captain... " Not too many, we can only look out for about ten."
The tour continues around Oleg's, it seems like nearly everything is in disrepair....
Colvin

KenderKin |
Oleg: "So you are sending words to your tribes and waiting here until they arrive?"
The tour wraps up and all of the offensive weapons of Olegs are in a state of disrepair, although the catapults look like great fun, not one of them is operational.
Jhod surveys the scene...."Oleg I think that we could repair two of the catapults and put them on tracks to cover two sides a piece, not sure who engineered this, but I think it can be done better.....also what would the capatults fire?"

Colvin "Slick" Dashtail |

Colvin turns to his Eidolon and motions for it to follow, "Kel, I will prepare for The Spirit to accompany Soggy and deliver our messages to our people's that the time has come to join the longlegs.
By tomorrow we can be on move to the lost temple!"
Colvin takes his leave to prepare The Spirit via Ritualfor long distance travel away from him.
Yay, my 17,000 post!

KenderKin |
Oleg: "That would be something to see, I say."
As you wrap up the tour, you find yourselves back at Svetlana's table, the dishes cleared away.
Kesten Garess the leader of the men at arms comes in with a new wanted poster, Just added to campaign info tab for the meeting about the kobolds and mites.....
Dead or alive! Falgrim Sneeg!
Task: A mercenary Kesten worked with months ago was a Varisian man named Falgrim Sneeg. Falgrim robbed the group and fled into the Greenbelt to become a bandit, and Kesten hopes to catch him alive and return him to Restov for punishment.
Completion: Capture Falgrim Sneeg, alive if possible.
Reward: Kesten can arrange a reward of four masterwork weapons of the capturer’s choice if Falgrim is delivered alive. If he’s delivered dead, Kesten can only promise two weapons.
As you are considering what to do an older man comes into Oleg's, he has only one leg and gives Oleg a nod. Oleg goes through a list of supplies and quickly starts to get the things together.
"So Oleg has anyone came along and claimed the reward I have offered for ol Tuskgutter's head?"
Completion: Deliver Tuskgutter’s head to Oleg’s.
Reward: Vekkel has promised his masterwork longbow and six +1 animal bane arrows to whoever can kill Tuskgutter. He also promises to share the head cheese he plans to make out of this trophy.
Vekkel: "I assure you that tuskgutter has made a name for hiself here bouts, nearly everyone that spends any time around is likely to run afoul o this wild boar. Was him that took my leg. I am not going to waste any part of him. I will use his head to make headcheese and mount the head for decoration, I will pickle his feet and fry up his chops. If someone brings the whole hog back!. I would settle for just his head though."
