I'm okay with most of the UA stuff. So no alternate ranger, no psions. But the monster hunter looked fine to me.

And I'll be making final selections on Thursday night (EST), Dieredon.

Well, I have an idea for a Dwarven barbarian character. I had the thought a while back about playing dwarf scared of water, and this might by pretty funny. Would probably be CN.

So: Mountain Dwarf barbarian, veteran sailor, spent his whole life either drunk, on a boat, or both. He always lived by the port, and was scared of falling in. He ended up becoming a sailor because he didn't see any other life path.

I haven't gotten a chance to play a Barbarian or a dwarf in 5e yet, so I hope this is good!
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 3) = 16=14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 3) = 10=8
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 3) = 12=10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 2) = 13=12
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 4) = 14=12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 2) = 16=14

I think I'll be going with this. Might be sub-par, but good for a barbarian and the concept I have in mind.
A lot of my games have fallen apart lately, so I'd be glad to see a new one!

Backstory:
Grizzle can't remember his first name. Or his last name, for that matter. So he goes by Grizzle. Everyone except his says it suits the middle aged dwarf. All he really remembers is a few of the years up until he was old enough to drink, and not much after that.
He has a vague memory of signing up on several ships, and subsequently being kicked off for refusing to go anywhere near the water. He managed to (mostly) get over his fear, mainly from almost drowning a few times.
Since he can remember, he has only been sober three times since his 20th birthday. Once was the first time he got thrown overboard, because he was asking for ale nobody had. The second time was when he had to go to his best friends funeral. The third time, he just woke up with a hangover and no clothes, buried in seashells on a beach.

Hmm, looks interesting. Let's see what I roll...

4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 5) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 5, 6) = 19
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 6) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 1) = 14

16, 16, 13, 12, 11, 10. Not bad.

I think I'm leaning toward a half-elf bard with a noble background, who set out to see the world and make a name for himself, and decides piracy is as good a way as any.

Alfonso Felipe Emmanuel Juan Carlos d'Arribio is a young half-elf from Taldor, seeking adventure. His great-grandfather, whose name is even longer, was a war hero in the campaign against Qadira, but Alfonso's frail physique and lack of martial skill was always an embarrassment to the proud d'Arribio family. He set out to make a name for himself his own way...

Right...heres my idea

As a boy/girl, watched as raiders/ pirates attack and decimated his/her home. The home was a refuge, in or near the shackles, where escaped chelish slaves had settled . Having watched, frozen in fear as family is slain or worse , approached by one of the raiders. Fully expecting to die, but the leader a truly vile individual, calls the man back wanting the boy/girl to remember the days events...a greater evil than killing him/ her.

The tiefling and other survivors, not many, picked up by a slaver the next day...a collegue of the raiders. Returned to Cheliax, bought and trained as a gladiator. Escaped many times...always seeking to return to the shackles to seek revenge on the raider leader ( has dome identifying feature). Each time recaptured and punished severely.

Finally escapes and manages to get to Port Peril to begin his/her search ...

So will be fighter...race and gender to be determined

The Exchange

Just found this thread. I previously had a human pirate captain that I was trying to fit into another campaign, but it fizzled pretty quickly. This campaign would be a much better fit.

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 5) = 21=16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 6) = 14=12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 3) = 13=10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6, 1) = 12=11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 2) = 11=9
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 5) = 13=12

So that's:
9 10 11 12 12 16

Which is worse than the standard array, so I think I'll do that instead.

I'll be a rogue with the pirate variant background. I plan to multiclass after 1st.

Just a friendly reminder that I am choosing players tonight. Please refer to the first post to assure you have everything in order.

Finalized the background to make it Golarion-friendly, and ready for review. Good luck to all of the submissions.

Mechanically this is what I was thinking of:

Mad Jack:
Mad Jack
Human paladin 1 (Calistria)
Medium, chaotic neutral

--------------------
Armor Class 17 (studded leather, shield)
Hit Points 12 (1d10+2)
Speed 30 ft.
--------------------
STR 12 (+1), DEX 16 (+3), CON 15 (+2), INT 8 (-1), WIS 11 (+0), CHA 15 (+2)
--------------------

Feats Resilient
Saving Throws Con +4, Wis +2, Cha +4
Skills Acrobatics +5, Athletics +3, Intimidation +4, Perception +2, Persuasion +4
Senses passive Perception 12
Languages Common, Elvish

Actions
--------------------

Scourge. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.

Trinket (sailor): 1d100 ⇒ 3

I should be all done. Basic concept:

Once the first mate of a small but dreaded pirate ship, Treggor served faithfully and well for months on the high seas and in port alike. Not for any altruistic reason, of course, but because the captain was a hard and cruel master, yet also generous to those he kept close to him. It was because of this that the crew became jealous and conspired to off him, securing a larger share of their latest score for themselves. However, fearing the wrath of the captain, they instead arranged for Treggor to be in the wrong tavern at the wrong time, pressed into service aboard another ship without rank or title.

Now, with only his reputation and hard-earned skills, he survives day to day on the hope of captaining his own ship and taking revenge against his treacherous former shipmates.

Grizzle Mechanics:
Grizzle
Mountain Dwarf Barbarian 1
Medium, chaotic neutral
--------------------
Armor Class 14 (unarmored defence)
Hit Points 15 (1d12+3)
Speed 25 ft.
--------------------
STR 16 (+3), DEX 12 (+1), CON 16 (+3), INT 10 (0), WIS 8 (-1), CHA 12 (+1)
--------------------

Saving Throws Str +5, Con +5
Skills Athletics +5, Perception +1, Intimidation +3 (+5 Strength), Nature +2.
Senses passive Perception 11
Languages Common, Dwarven

Actions
--------------------

Handaxe. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 1d6+3 slashing damage. (1d6+5 if raging.)

Unarmed Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature.
Hit: 4 bludgeoning damage. (6 if raging.)

Here are the basics of Grizzle's mechanics. Let me know if anything is off. If I am selected, I'll make it look pretty in my alias.

I'm declaring the cut off here. I'll have a team lineup within the hour.

Okay, this is the lineup for the game, in alphabetical order:

• Belac93 AKA Grizzle
• D-Kal AKA Treggor Mynth
• Fangdragon AKA Mad Jack
• Filios AKA Dieredon D'atarisian
• Nilesr AKA Shikyomaru Kuro
• RainyDayNinja AKA Alfonso...d'Arribio

Thank you to everyone who submitted. You made the selection process challenging, let me tell you.

For the PCs, please dot the Gameplay thread, and then report to the Discussion Tab.

Congrats to those selected! Have a great game :)
