Maria the Great
|
Maria shrugs. People died. Didn't want more. Have you picked up bullets? Or were you just going to use rocks? How many arrows do you have stocked Furnok?
DM TreasureFox
Wrapping it up.
Furnok, Helgarr, and Maria spend the rest of the evening talking about Sinspawn and other terrors that may wait for them in the dark.
Ali gets slung over one shoulder by Garridan Viskalai and brought to Ameiko. Garridan explains that Ali was already hammered by the time he stumbled into the White Deer, and that he looked like he had gotten into a bit of a fight.
Cleo spends her evening with Aggah, which has become news among the guards and the sheriff. Hemlock and Vachedi offer Cleo their support, but some of the other guards look upon it with distaste. "A good goblin's a deadun." They say. Aggah's an excellent listener, and manages to learn words like brother, sister, cousin, grandmother, halfling, and various names of food too. She has also decided that she enjoys the taste of cooked meat.
Oathday, the 8th of Lamashan, year 4711AR
Not quite as warm as yesterday, but the sun is without a cloud in sight. There is a slight cool breeze coming in from the arctic lands, reminding everyone that winter will be just around the corner. No rain is expected, in fact it will be a little dry comparatively.
Today is Oathday, which signifies the taking and honoring of oaths and commitments. This is typically the day when people will hire new workers, show support for their local lord, or get married. Though any manager would say, today is called Paperwork day.
Vandra, you wake up feeling much better. The pimples over your face look much smaller, you ache less, and your mind seems to be back to normal. That being said, you aren't in top form yet. You still feel sluggish, and are still winded by normal activities like going down a flight of stairs.
Ali, you have a hangover. I'll rule it as a penalty to concentration checks, and vulnerability to sonic damage.
Alandrian Verium
Ali sits up slowly from his cot and sat there, waiting for the room to stop spinning. The taste of bile and stale wine cling to his tongue as he groans, reaching up to his head and feeling around his eyesocket tenderly. It was swollen and the skin felt broken.
He sighed, standing up slowly and moving to a mirror against the back wall, over the only cupboard in the caravan. He stared at himself, wincing slightly as he took in the slowly spreading bruise and the cut covering his left eye. He had had a fight with a tree branch on the way home it seemed.
'Thank Shelyn I had passed out before that. Walking home alone when I woke up was far less embarrassing...'
"You know I am always here kid, even if you can't see me!" The thought was fleeting, a voice not his own in the back of his mind. He sensed amusement and a hint of frustration.
"Yeah yeah, I know. Still... one can dream of being alone at times, yes? Anyway, you take your ease today. I have some stuff to do and I kinda wanna do it alone. That okay with you?"
"Sure kid, sure. I'll be here when you call!"
He sent a quick feeling of warmth and love through the link they shared, before shutting it down, walling away the other part of himself.
He sighed as he stretched, reaching for his clothes and beginning to dress slowly. He finished by adding the suit of leather armor on over his clothing. As an afterthought he strapped the masterwork shortsword he had taken from the party collection of gear at his hip. He stared down at the sword for a moment, slowly a conversation from last night swimming in to his memory. "Maybe I should go train with Arika... Later. For now..."
Ali steeled himself, standing straighter, forcing down his need to be ill and strode back towards town. He had an Apothecary to see.
Ali is heading to find the Pillbugs Apothecary.

Sitting up and giving a good stretch, Vandra was feeling a lot better today. Still sore, and unfortunately his face still looked like a pit fiend's backside, but his mind was thankfully a lot clearer. Not feeling up to showing his face in public just yet, his mother went down and came back with a small plate of fruit for the both of them. Pulling out the book he got from that goblin alchemist, Vandra figured that he'd at least do something constructive before he could get up and out.

Maria the Great
|
Maria is down in the kitchen telling about a fight between two members of the Muckruckers in the puddle district, how the girls had been ripping each others clothes off while some enterprising thieves were liberating some city council members pockets.
Cleo Gingerberry
Cleo attends breakfast, enjoying Maria's tale and even better her laugh. Afterward, she'll fuss over Vandra, making sure he eats all his breakfast, and letting him know she'll stop at a various location to let a certain young woman know he's feeling better if she wants to visit.
DM TreasureFox
As Ali finally reaches the Pillbug's Pantry (it is very difficult to find) he hears a conversation through the open door. "Have any happy pillbugs turned up lately?" To which a gruff, crackly voice replies "There sure have. What do you need?"
Vandra spends his time studying the Goblin picture book to see if he can decipher their alchemical formulas and use them in his spellcasting. Although this is a difficult and frustrating task, he is able to put the pieces together.
These are the formulas that the Goblins had:
- Shield
- Cure Light Wounds
- Adhesive Spittle
- Expeditious Retreat
- Firebelly
It will cost 10gp and 2 hours to copy each spell into your spellbook (2 hours due to it being an alchemy book). If one of the spells is a favored school, reduce both cost and time by half. You may copy Cure Light Wounds, but it will function as an opposition school, meaning it will take 2 spell slots to prepare.
Vandra Geaux
|
So 35gp and 7 hours of work for all but Adhesive Spittle, which I already have. Only favored school spell was Expeditious Retreat. Have we done anything with the extra loot just yet? I've only got 4gp on me T_T

Ali dropped down in to a crouch, slowly sliding up towards the door to stare inside, hoping to get a better idea of what was going on. Something was fishy...
Cleo Gingerberry
Cleo has 73, she'll fund your magically pursuits, until the others sell the loot.
Helgarr
I was planning on having Helgarr taking care of loot today - are we sure all that can be identified has been found? Also, does anyone have Appraise?
DM TreasureFox
Appraise will be needed for the jewelry, flute, and dust. Weapons and armor will just be standard half price.
As Vandra gets to studying (with the help of Cleo's generous donation), Ali gets sneaky at the Pillbug's Pantry.
The Pantry itself is an old, run down shop with shelves of strange potions, herbs, alchemical ingredients, and more. Aliver "Pillbug" Podiger is a short, rotund man with balding black hair, perhaps in his early 40's. He is leaning against a desk while speaking to a customer.
"Somethin to go to sleep, don'tchaknow?" Answers the customer, a tall and thin man with a brown cloak covering him.
Pillbug seems cautious, as he eyes the man up and down.
"You with anyone?" He says
"Vhiski"
Pillbug relaxes a bit
"And do you have money?"
"Yes"
"50 sails, and here you go" Says Pillbug as he exchanges a vial of clear liquid for the money.
Then the man pockets the vial and begins to turn around.
Alandrian Verium
Ali pulls back slowly, moving around to the corner of the building, busing himself with beginning to whittle a piece of wood he pulled from his pocket.

Yes please. We'll use that one for the tiara. I'd like 4 more checks please. 1 for the silver symbols, 1 for the elven flute, 1 for the bag of gold dust, and 1 for the bag of silver dust.
While Ali isn't particularly sneaky, he does make himself look like a regular tenant in the area. The Pantry is hidden right within the tenements of Sandpoint. The man in the brown cloak marches out and continually looks around nervously. He starts making a brisk walk down Tanglefoot alley.

After spending most of the day in his room working on learning new magics, Vandra felt reasonably well enough to travel down stairs for the evening meal, though he tended to keep his face down. Reaching the tavern room, he shuffled off to a back table and all but collapsed onto the chair. Breathing heavily, he motioned for a server and ordered a small dinner for him and his mother.
Alandrian Verium
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Ali throws his backpack over his shoulder and makes his way after the man, staying at a careful distance, keeping his head down and looking grim, but not attempting to really hide, just blend in.

Helgarr
--- In the morning ---
Helgarr greets each and everyone of his companions as they come down to grab breakfast, informing them of her intention to sort out the loot they have gathered so far, and spend the day plodding through Sandpoint to sell what they do not need.
She goes up to Vandra's room to check on her friend - "How are you feeling today?" - and also inform him of her self assigned task for the day.
With their agreement, she gathers whatever has not been claimed by her companions, receives the appraisal details from Maria, and sets on the task ahead.
Detailed below are the unclaimed items, as per the loot list, as well has their halved price - if there is anything you guys wish to claim, let me know.

-----------------------------------------
With a hefty bag of spoils at her back, Helgarr takes a moment to ponder where she will start.
Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Then heads off to do some trading.
TreasureFox, do you want me to point out exactly where I will be heading to sell what?
DM TreasureFox
Wow Helgarr, thanks so much for doing that. I can answer a few of your questions. First, you don't have to tell me where you're selling things if you don't want. Especially with that K.Local check, I can easily assume you find the right place, as there's a buyer for everything you're trying to sell. I don't think I'll increase the selling value in certain shops, because I think the discounts are already rather substantial. A quick note, I may be wrong here but I think the Masterwork Dogslicer is worth 154gp rather than 104. The term "finely crafted" is just my way of saying Masterwork in game. I remember that Maria wanted to identify and then extract the green poison from the dogslicers. To be honest, I have forgotten what the vials of liquid are. I'm going to guess they are vials of poison, which would be illegal to sell (owning is fine).
Tiny tiara: 50gp
2 symbols: 40gp total
Mwk flute: 90gp
Silver dust: 40gp total
Gold dust: 300gp total
Maria feels like she nailed the tiara and the dusts, but she's a bit unfamiliar with musical instruments or unholy symbols.
Ali continues following the man at a distance as he turns onto Festival street and down into the market. Please make either a perception check to keep track of him, or a stealth check to get closer but remain undetected.
Helgarr finds two offers for the cursed set of studded leather armor. Father Zantus offers 250gp to get it out of circulation, while the excited Vorvashali Voon of the Feathered Serpent offers 500gp.
Helgarr
Thanks for the heads up on the Masterwork Dogslicer TreasureFox :D
Helgarr smiles at the offer of 500 sails for the cursed armor, but her better judgment takes precedence, and she instead delivers it to Father Zantus - "Thank you for taking care of this - we would not know what to do with it, except maybe destroying it"
All things said and done, and after selling everything except:
Weapons:
Unknown -> 2 magical starknives (Need to be identified)
Potions: (I say we keep all of these - below my recommended distribution)
2 potions of sanctuary - Ali and Cleo
1 Potion of CMW - Vandra
3 potions of Identify - Ali
2 potions of mage armor - Vandra
2 potions of CLW - Maria and Ali
1 potion of Enlarge Person - Furnok
1 potion of Expeditious Retreat - Cleo
2 potions of Jump - Maria
Misc:
We keep this -> 2 free book coupons at the Curious Goblin
We keep this -> Two medium, and 4 small tents, a gift from Mayor Deverin
Vial of strange liquid (Poison)
2 vials of clear liquid (Poison)
Bag of gold dust, bag of silver dust (Not sure, but I think we should keep this)
Tsuto’s Journal (Who is carrying this?)
The end total amount (adding the 440 sails we already had) is 6078,5 gold/sails. Each individual share is 1013 sails/gold (the split was done between Ali, Cleo, Furnok, Helgarr, Maria and Vandra.
- We still need to identify the Starknives
----------------------------------------
At the end of the day, Helgarr returns with the earnings she has managed to obtain from bartering and trading with merchants all over Sandpoint - in fact, she must admit it had been more enjoyable than expected.
Once they manage to meet in private, the barbarian hands out an heavy bag of gold to each of his companions - "I don't think I have ever seen so much money in my life" - she comments with a smile.
Let the gear upgrading begin! :D I know I intend to get some stuff for Helgarr, but I want also to find a way to use the gold in the development of Sandpoint. Need to mull it over. Oh, and I think we should all chip in for a wand of CLW (it is available at a 10% discount). If you agree to buying a wand of CLW, the actual final split for each will be 788 gold/sails.
EDIT: We may also ponder if we want to take something out from future earnings for a 'group fund' or something like that.

Don't know if you realize, Helgarr, but your last couple of posts has you as both 'he' and 'she'. Just thought I'd let you know. And thank you for loaning me the gold, Cleo! Now I can pay you hack before the dreaded halfling interest starta piling up!
Meeting up with the others was enjoyable for the young wizard. Quickly pocketing his earnings, and making a mental note to inquire about more spells from the college, he asked the others how their day went.
Cleo Gingerberry
our loan collectors will break your legs... mainly cause that is all we can reach! Thank you very very much Helgarr, I know that must have been a bunch of work. Cleo will accept the potions you suggest. A make you go faster potion makes a lot of sense for her.
Cleo Gingerberry
Cleo will happily use her money for a wand of cure light wounds, how much would it be?
Helgarr
Cleo, the wand should be divided by all. Not coming out of your own pocket.
Cleo Gingerberry
[occ]Cleo does not mind, her calling isn't to have better weapons, or better armor, but to keep those around her alive... but she does not have enough for the wand alone, so the discussion is not necessary. She'll put up 750, if the rest of you would divide up the remaining 600?[/occ]
Helgarr
Even if the calling for Cleo is not to have better weapons or armor, she will benefit from many other things (better armor included), like enhancing her Saving Throws, maybe some clerical scrolls of choice, and I can think of a myriad other items that would improve her role of keeping others alive. So... Nope, we all chip in :P
Cleo Gingerberry
:) I don't often find myself arguing to spend MORE money. How about this as a compromise? 1350/6 is 225 each. Anyone who wants to put in for the wand, may. Anyone who has other purchases, may do so without regret or condemnation. That way it is up to the individual. Cleo will cover the remaining, if able.
Cleo Gingerberry
much appreciated, sir
Helgarr
You can count on my 225 gold. Just don't forget the wand is CL2 Cleo ;)
Helgarr's current total is 790 gold after taking those out.
Taking her share, on the next day Helgarr wakes up early in the morning to retrieve a few selected items - she places the order with Savah for the Masterwork crafting tools, paying her the 30 sails upfront, and thanking her for the significant discount.(Added to character sheet for easy tracking, but not in use)
While visiting the weapons and armor shop, a glinting set of chain catches her eye - "This seems like fine craftsmanship. I am going to use it, and replace my old armor"
Buying MW chain Shirt for 125 sails. If Savah is interested, I'll sell her my Lamelar leather armor - half price? 30 sails?
Then the woman heads to the Church, and retrieves two vials of Holy water from Father Zantus. (These are showing as free in the Sandpoint Shops doc - is this correct TreasureFox?)
At the Bottled Solutions, the barbarian finds a concoction which may be useful in the future, and pays 50 sails for it.
Buying Potion of Touch of the Sea ;)
At The Pillbug’s Pantry, apart from being amazed and wondered by all the different knick knacks all around her, she obtains two flasks of a potent Alchemist's Fire, stowing them safely on a bandolier obtained earlier the same day. Just as the young woman is about to leave, she comes across maybe one of the most useful items she has ever seen - "This is most amazing" - she smiles, immediately paying the 110 sails needed to become the newest possessor of an Everburning Torch.
790-30-125+30-50-40-0,5-110=464,5 remaining gold
TreasureFox, I would also be interested in getting an Air Crystal, Antiplague, Bladeguard, Smelling Salts, Smoked Goggles and Vermin Repelent - do I find any of these in Sandpoint? :D
----------------
In a few hours, she is back at the Rusty Dragon to meet her friends with a smile on her face, and a shiny new armor -"I am ready to go Furnok" - Helgarr nods - "I've made a trip to the Town Hall yesterday - people are definitely restless about the Glassworks and the catacombs - these are two matters we need to close"
DM TreasureFox
Correct Helgarr. Half price for selling, holy water is free (within reason). The items you've suggested are not currently available, but the new week is coming up and the shops will rotate their stock.
Hoping Ali will rejoin us soon. He's got a person to stalk.
Are you sure you want to go to the Catacombs? It is getting on evening by the time sick Vandra finishes his studies, and Ali is still stalking a person.
Cleo Gingerberry
Cleo will buy the healer's kit from the cathedral and thank them for a bottle of holy water. And insist on paying a donation of 20 gold for the surgeon's tools. Since she has a new set of armor, could she sell her set for 50% meaning 12.5? She'll also buy a floppy hat for Aggah, cause everyone needs a good floppy hat. If she can find one.
Lastly, I realized Cleo cannot use a dogslicer, so there be no reason for her to take that. If anyone wants it feel free, or we can sell and divvy like the rest.
Alandrian Verium
Sorry guys, back now. Clocked out for the weekend.
Ali pushed ahead slowly, keeping his hand on the hilt of his blade ad he began to try get closer, shadow the man more so as not to lose him.
Stealth-1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
More than happy to add in my share of gold for the wand. What do I get again?
