As Cleo casts the spell, the black water begins to boil. Evaporating from it is the blackness itself, which is replaced by a light golden glow. However, the altar itself still releases blackness into the pool.
The consecration is complete, but the altar needs to be destroyed.

The altar explodes violently with huge shards of shrapnel shooting out in all direction. A spine shivering wail echoes across the stones, the slowly fades away into silence. Every one feels an unwelcome presence in their mind, wriggling around like a maggot. Cleo's magic protects you from negative effects, and soon they fade away, but Cleo is the exception. Cleo is now cursed, but she doesn't know with what yet.

The moment Cleo's pure blood drips into the Thassilonian pool, the lava-like liquid within begins to boil. From all around, the sound of a bell tolls a single, lonely chime. The giant stone doors from behind close suddenly. From the pool erupts a single soul, ethereal and ghostly, a Wrathspawn. Coalescing into solid form, it's sickly pale skin is garbed from head to toe in black full plate. Appearing within it's grasp is a giant black axe spanning nearly 6 feet from the top spike to the end of it's shaft. Through it's spiked full helm, the Wrathspawn's scarlet eyes stare with pure, unrivaled malice.
Furnok, Vandra, and Maria. You're up first.

Extremely worried about their companions as the wrathspawn formed, Vandra warned the scholar to stay back as he laid a hand on Helgarr's arm. Steadily pumping magic into her body, her muscles became more dense as her strength increased.
+2 to Strength for Helgarr.
Jeaux, meanwhile, took up a defensive stance next to Vandra, ready to intercept any attacks against yer son.

Furnok's sword slices along a weak point in the Sinspawn's armor, at the armpit. It reels back for only a second, and screams in an agonizingly high pitch. Maria tries to shoot it down, but her arrow clinks against it's armor. Vandra darts to the front line to bestow magical support to the melee attackers.
Since this creature is large, I'll allow shots to ignore the precise shot prerequisite. You won't suffer the -4 penalty.

The Sinspawn raises it's wicked axe to slice Furnok in two, but it's movements are slow. Furnok sidesteps just in time for the axe to clang against the stone floor.
The old man Brodert steps forward slightly "Be careful, young miss. Take this." and casts a spell over Maria. She feels her vision hone in on the Sinspawn, understanding it's movements, it's weaknesses in armor. Maria has True Strike for her next attack, granting a +20 bonus.
The guards draw their shortbows and take aim. They fire all at once and strike the Sinspawn with two of their shots. Meanwhile, Dench puts all his strength into a downward slash with his halberd and catches the Sinspawn along the neck.

With Helgarr taken care of, Vandra looked around at the party and considered his options. His mind remembering the spell he learned from the goblin book, and he really needed to get back to deciphering that, he closed his eyes and concentrated. Before he knew it, his cheeks bulged outwards and his eyes popped open. 'This stuff really doesn't taste good. Please don't barf...' he thought to himself.

Jeaux maintained her action, ready to defend the fruit of her previous loins.

As Helgarr begins to rage, the Sinspawn senses her anger and glares at her with hungry eyes. The 3 fingered hands attached to it's mouth wriggle with eagerness, reaching out in desperation to snag and devourer her. Even after a hail of arrows and getting soaked with adhesive, the Sinspawn still focuses on Helgarr.
Two of the arrows hit, one from Maria and the other from a guard. Dench, Helgarr, and Furnok batter the creature's armor to no effect. Even though the Sinspawn doges out of the way for most of it, Vandra's adhesive still takes hold to help restrain it.
Brodert holds back, Identify and Expeditious Retreat aren't useful at the present time.

The Sinspawn falls to the floor when Vandra pelts him in the helmet with a glob of adhesive spittle! Just as it begins falling, Maria makes a lucky shot that pierces into it's neck. Finally, once it hits the floor, Helgarr makes a powerful chop right across it's neck, severing the head from it's body. A splash of blood erupts and spills across the platform, spilling over the balcony in front of Vandra.
From the lava like pool, new spirits begin erupting from it. As they sail above your heads, you try to make our their faces. Many of them are the faces of goblins, but you see humans as well. Floating above, you see the twisted face of Lonjiku Kaijitsu. As they land on the ground, their spirits shift to that of decayed flesh. Their hair falls out, their teeth rot away, and standing before you are human and goblin zombies with fetid claws.

With the zombie getting right behind them, Vandra quickly laid a hand on his mother's shoulder, guiding her attack to strike true.
Jeaux, fueled by her son's magic, lashed out with blade and body, her halberd landing a slash across the creature's side though her feet unfortunately missed.

Ok, so the big one in the map is dead, right Fox? If so:
"We flank this dreadful thing Cleo, stand fast!" - the barbarian roars, stepping to the side, and gaining a flanking position with Cleo. As she moves, the polearm is dropped, and the Falchion is drawn to swing hard at the undead.

The tribal brothers and sisters hold together as they each swiftly dispatch one zombie after another, destroying them quickly and efficiently. Two kills worthy of note belong to Ali and Helgarr. Ali quickly turned around to spot a zombie attacking a lone guard, and swiftly raised his crossbow to shoot the zombie right through the head and clean out the other side. Helgarr turned against the zombie next to her and cleaved right through it with her falchion as if the undead were made of butter. The only zombie that survived the Goblin Slayers (now undead slayers) is quickly destroyed as the guards surround it. Dench looks around, trying to get into a fight, but shrugs as each zombie is destroyed around him.
He may still be of use, however, as more spirits erupt from the pool. These zombies are all goblins, each of them have a glowing stomach, not much unlike a firefly.
