Wabbit runs over to help Furnok with the goblin rabble, though unfortunately they do manage to dodge his attack. Kemras grabs onto the rope and starts climbing carefully. Not a moment later, Cleo emerges soaking wet from the creekbed. Her scarlet red hair is now tangled in weeds. Bacon comes out right after her, wearing a mane of weeds himself. Up above, Kaven draws his composite bow. He can barely pull the string half its proper length, resulting in an arrow that barely gets through the waterfall, and plops into the creek below.

Furnok bashes yet another goblin into the dirt. With Kemras on the rope, Jakardros pulls him up the rest of the way, before lowering the rope back down. The goblins continue to swarm Furnok with their little knives, paying only marginal attention to Wabbit in the process. Meanwhile, the Ogre archers move across the bridge to get a good view of the party, and the three regular Ogres approach the edge of the creek, ready to ford it.

Once all the way up, Kemras looks through the waterfall at the mess of goblins. "Furnok and Wabbit can't hold forever." He says bluntly, drawing his own bow and aiming down an arrow, before loosing it easily into the crowd.

Kemras looses an arrow, hitting a goblin in the shoulder, but it doesn't stop its attack. Meanwhile, Wabbit goes on the offensive, slashing wildly with his waveblade. He impales one goblin in the chest, and decapitates another one with a backhand slash. Furnok cleaves two goblins along the head, knocking both of their heads off their shoulders.
Cleo ties up Bacon to be hauled up, and the grumpy pig gets hauled half way up the cliff thanks to Jakardros. Kaven decides to shoot at the Ogres approaching, but the arrow falls a bit short.

The goblins continue their rampage, paying little attention to those who have fallen. They focus their attacks on Furnok, slicing anywhere from his ankles to his waist. Though Furnok's chain shirt does considerably to protect his heart and lungs, it does little to help his legs.
Just flavour, your AC is your AC. Furnok takes 20 damage
The Ogres hop into the water, bobbing along the top like apples, and paddling as best they can with their little legs. The two archers in the back take aim at Bacon, though only one manages to hit, and it's only a grazing shot. Bacon takes 5 damage

Jakardros hauls Bacon up the rest of the way, and Kaven helps untie him and kick the rope back down. Everyone's turn.

I don't recall Aggah climbing

Wabbit continues to slice goblins left and right, while Furnok bashes another two into the ground. Kemras shoots the same goblin again, but it doesn't quite fall yet.

Meanwhile, Cleo channels energy. Fortunately, only one goblin is actually wounded, so she can easily ignore it while she heals the rest. Furnok receives the majority of the healing, but Bacon, Kemras, Jakardros, and Aggah get some benefit as well.

The goblin rabble is starting to break, with some goblins deciding that this fight isn't worth it, and turn tail to flee. Still, a significant portion continue the fight. Furnok holds his own, now more capable of defending himself since the number of goblins is diminishing. A hail of arrows pepper around the entrance to the cave, but none actually hit anything. The Ogres paddle as fast as possible, and the first of which makes landfall right in front of Cleo.
Furnok takes 8 damage

How many Ogres?

looks like 3 approaching on the map. if we ALL tried climbing up this round can we make it up the rope (Wabbit doesn't need the rope if that helps)? Or do Furnok and Wabbit need to delay the oncoming ogres?

Aggah grabs purchase on the cliffside itself, but Cleo can barely do more than grab the rope. The slippery rocks make her lose her footing constantly. Furnok cleaves through two more goblins.

Three Ogres with clubs are about to breach the shore and fight you. Two other Ogres are far back and shooting with longbows. Jakardros may need to make a Str check to try to haul you up if the number of people on the rope exceed twice his carrying capacity. Kaven and Kemras can aid the check if they so desire, assuming it's needed. It might not.


I think we are going to have to fight the ogres anyway. Furnok is going to get AoO to death if he tries climbing up at this point.

ok looks like Furnok and Wabbit will need to make a stand here with everyone else giving ranged support. this battle looks like it's gonna be worse than we anticipated....May need Kemras to Haste us. Wabbit can get up the cave dodging AOOs through acro but once the Ogres are here FUrnok won't be able to climb til they're neutralized

@Fox....if Wabbit activates reach will he be able to get multiple AOOs against the ogres as they come on to the beach? If not he'll save panache for Parry

@Fox if Wabbit told Furnok to "grab me and hold on" and aimed his tattoo at the cave would it pull Furnok and Wabbit up into the cave? Could this be done b4 the ogres come ashore?

@Wabbit, Reach won't be of help to you here for the purpose of AoO's, since the (male) Ogres have natural reach.
As for the tattoo, that's a cool idea, but I would limit it to your heavy load maximum, which means Cleo is a valid choice, but not Furnok.

@Cleo, if you stand at the entrance of the cave, you could channel energy to those below

eating an AOO from the goblin troop is one thing..eating multiple AOOs from the Ogres is another. The former makes it an easy retreat to the cave, the latter traps us into a prolonged battle on the beach here

Wabbit jabs his waveblade into a goblin's chest, followed by slashing along the neck of a second goblin coming up from behind him. Furnok takes the opportunity to retreat, grabbing the rope, but failing to get his footing on the slippery rocks. The frontmost Ogre swings at Furnok, but Furnok ducks under the Ogre's club just at the last second. Suddenly, Jakardros and Kaven pull on the rope, bringing Cleo and Furnok up half way. Furnok and Cleo watch two arrows soar across the creek directly towards them. One of the arrows clinks against the stone, but the other one goes squish directly into Furnok's leg. Fortunately, Furnok continues to hold tight onto the rope. At that moment, the first Ogre steps onto land and waddles over to Cleo and Furnok hanging only a few feet above it's head. The Ogre looks up and smiles as he simply plucks Cleo off the rope with a single hand. "Popcorn Halfling. Me favourite!" He says, holding Cleo in the air like he's about to eat her.
The two other Ogres have almost reached land, although one of them won't have room.
Furnok takes 11 damage, Cleo is grappled. Cleo, if you happen to have had a melee weapon at hand, you are entitled to an AoO.

Can't risk shooting at the ogre down there... too great a chance of hitting someone who's not an enemy. Kemras grimaces, before lighting on an idea. He swiftly removes a vial from his pack. Wabbit dashes away from the goblins, making his waveblade double in length. He stabs into the back of the Ogre's neck, causing a great deal of bleeding from the wound. Meanwhile, Cleo stops holding back. She unleashes a huge burst of righteous energy, catching not only the first Ogre, but both of his mates behind him. Only the furthest back Ogre withstands the blast of light, and the other two are completely blinded. Unfortunately, included in the burst is Aggah, and although she is one of the most well-behaved goblins ever, she is also hurt by the blast. She loses her grip on the slippery slope, and plummets to the sharp rocks below. She stands up since the Ogres are blind, and fires a single arrow at the Ogre point-blank. Though the shot is accurate, it fails to do more than puncture non-essential fat on the Ogre's stomach, creating only a minor bleeding wound.
Then Furnok jumps down from the cave, bringing down the hammer for Justice. The hammer lands a little shy of the head, instead hitting his pudgy upper chest. Unfortunately, the impact leaves only enough to cause bruising. Furnok hits the sharp rocks hard, crumpling to the ground. It's almost certain he's broken his legs.
Aggah takes a total of 11 damage, Furnok takes 9 non-lethal damage, and 10 lethal damage, and is prone. Furnok has only 15hp remaining before he falls unconscious.

Oh and Wabbit regains a panache

Kemras pulls out a flask of Alchemist's Fire, and lobs it towards the goblins. The flask falls right in the center of the rabble, resulting in a large explosion that kills several goblins in a single go. The others are burning terribly. Some of the goblins on the sidelines look like they're ready to rout.

The Ogre screams out in pain and rage, dropping Cleo onto the sharp rocks below. He backs up his massive frame, threatening to unintentionally sit on Wabbit. The other blind Ogre rages and flails about, swinging his club right over Wabbit's head. The third Ogre tries to club Wabbit, but Wabbit sees it coming and ducks under the swing. He feels a powerful impact against his back, but he has too much adrenaline to really notice. In actuality, he's been shot by an arrow.
Cleo takes 5 damage and is prone, Wabbit takes 11 damage.

The goblins run around in panic, completely forgetting their stop-drop-and-roll lessons. The ones who aren't burnt to a crisp end up disbanding and running for the fort.

@Wabbit, you get an AoO against the Ogre backing up. You also need to make a choice: Do you let it move past, or do you hold your ground?

"That went better than I expected..." Kemras grins for a moment, considering his other options as his more combat-capable companions clash with the ogres beneath him. Setting an arrow to the string again, he levels it at the ogre that is engaged with Furnok. "The man's nearly down!" He calls to the rangers - specifically Jakardos. "We should help him!" This time, he is hopeful the arrow will fly true...

Wabbit gives the retreating Ogre another swift stab, before hurrying out of the way. He focuses on the next blind Ogre, who could very well unintentionally smack Cleo or Furnok. Wabbit flurries with the elongated waveblade, wrecking terrible damage across the Ogre's body. Skin is sliced open, fat cut through, and blood stains the creek water. Cleo's prayer makes the work even easier.
Furnok fumbles with his cutlass on the first strike, but slices into the Ogre's ankle the second time.
Aggah hangs out of reach, launching arrows at the retreating Ogre. Both make their mark, but their power is insufficient to do any lasting damage.
Then, Kemras shoots an arrow through the waterfall at the next blind Ogre. It's a clean hit, though the power behind his attack is lacking.
Both of these blind Ogres look like they're only moments from death.

Jakardros replies to Kemras "You're right, he doesn't need to die. Okay boys and girls! Listen to these tactics when fighting Ogres!"
Jakardros shares his favoured enemy bonus (+1) against all giants. This +1 applies to weapon attack/damage, bluff, knowledge, perception, sense motive, and survival. It is untyped.
Then, Jakardros fires his crossbow, while Kaven shoots an arrow. Both hit the blind Ogre near Furnok, though their damage is negligible.

Ogres don't have natural armour, so they're very easy to hit/crit. However, they do have DR slashing/piercing, and a damage threshold of 10. They also have significant hitpoints. An attack that fails to beat the threshold is instead treated as 1 bleed damage. This bleed stacks from multiple attacks in a round, but does not stack with previous rounds of bleed. The Ogre gets a chance to staunch the bleeding as a free action each round with a Fort save equal to the Heal DC.

The blind Ogre flails around randomly, and unfortunately, Furnok is the one bashed with its club. The club comes down hard, with all of the Ogre's rage, but it falls a little past Furnok's prone body. He gets hit with the shaft, which hurts, but doesn't do any lasting damage.
Furnok takes 0 damage. He's okay

A hail of arrows and a javelin fly around Wabbit and the flailing Ogre. Wabbit easily dodges the javelin, an arrow, another arrow, and watches yet another arrow fly haphazardly into the distance. As he's about to fight the Ogre with another flurry, he gets hit so hard it nearly bowls him over. The pain is searing like nothing he'd ever felt in his adventures. An arrow nearly the size of him is sticking out of Wabbit's back.
Wabbit got crit for 25 damage. I never thought I'd see the day.

Wabbit easily dispatches the blind Ogre, slicing his foot open before driving his waveblade all the way through his heart.

One Ogre is fleeing and blind, the other is still around and is not blind. The not-blind one is not in melee combat with anyone.
