For a change this is actually the game that is moving! What Almon is figuring out is that you guys were actually passing through the other RA party that is in the same place you are in the dungeon. Thought I would throw both parties a little curve with it!

There is something I need to discuss. I will be needing to leave the game (I would say take an absence, but I do think that a 2 month break would be too much to ask especially from a fast-paced game such as this).

I have shared the following with my other groups (including my private group):

I do very much regret to pause in play. Things have been a bit unavoidable due to some personal family issues and (more important to the group) work-related issues.

Since teaching the classes last week, I have returned to a lab in disarray as records from certain staff have not been properly kept, mass disorganization, and the people responsible are ending the year on vacations. Not only am I now taking on yet more positions (thankfully only temporary), but one member of the staff is leaving to fill a vacancy in another department (after they return from vacation). AS the document control officer and technical manager, I will be filling vacancies (not by hiring, but by doing the work) as well as sorting out the mess of records and record-keeping that I thought I had fixed last year...

What this means, is that now semi-crises are hopefully over, I am taking the time to connect with you all. At least until vacations are over (there will be a break from vacations December 7-16th), I am not really sure if I can keep up with the game as I had in the past (if at all) until that break for a brief time and then again resume at the start of the year.

Because of this, I think it would be best for me to open up my place for someone more reliable and able to post more often than I was anyways. I really did enjoy the game when I was able to check in. I am really sorry that I will have to leave you guys.

Rappan Athuk is dangerous, but can never throw you a curve ball so curve as RL can Almon ;)

I want to thank you for being so straightforward with the reasons why you are leaving (even though it wasn't necessary).

It was a pleasure to play with you during the short time we did, and I honestly hope you get everything sorted, and back on track as soon as possible, or at least in time to enjoy a relaxed Christmas ;)

Sad to see you go Almon (Donald). . Thank you for telling us rather than simply vanishing as happens too often on these boards. . I wish you were anticipating needing a month break... I think we could handle your absence for a month..... But 2 months or more will likely be problematic.

I'd like to keep going. I don't think we need to stop while we recruit a Wizard or Arcanist. Once we get a suitable replacement we can just fit him in on the fly like was done with Myrick.

We can continue with my gameplay post from Thu at 11am.

A note about crafting. This should be considered your number one source for magical items besides finding them. You are not generally on a clock so taking down time for it should not be an issue.

Duly noted on the crafting. Definitely have a Holy amulet of mighty fists on my wish list to help bypass that pesky dr/good..

Is the cleric Bjorn back in the village a crafter?


I think Sorek has reinforced why I dont allow psionics in my games.. Having a character in group that can literally do anything minus cast arcane spells kinda makes the rest of the classes look whimpy..

Good AC check, good saves check, good attacks/damage check, megga skills check, rogue talents check, can heal check, better hps than a barbarian check.. The list goes on and on..

I normally don't either as should be seen by my character creation rules, but the party was created by the previous GM and seemed to work well together. Now most of them are gone. Perhaps it is time to rethink the character?
As for Bjorn, yes he has some crafting skills.

I'd say leave him alone. Once we get to RA proper, there's always a good chance he'll end up on the wrong side of the sod.

Which begs the question now, what do people think of combining the campaigns at this point? It would mean ten characters at present. I have done 12-13 in table top in RA before.

Coincidentally the 2 groups mesh really well. . 4 melee 2 arcane 2 divine 1 Rogue 1ranged. . But wow 10 characters.... Won't we be tripping all over ourselves? Not opposed to the idea.

On the other hand it does seem a little ambitious to descend into RA with just 6 characters to take on a God. . A super group makes more sense from a characters perspective. From a players perspective I've never played with that many characters.

I'm ambivalent. We could try and see how it works out.

Let me restate. . Not ambivalent(sounds a little negative) . I'll happily go along with whatever the consensus of the group is.

Brvheart if you say that you have run groups that large through RA and it wasn't a problem then I'll trust your judgement and go enthusiastically along for the ride.

As an aside let me say that I've enjoyed the small core that we have established here with Lars Aggrammar and Sorek. . And look forward to continuing with them and getting to know Myrick better as we go on. However we choose to do so.

We've heard from Lars. . Aggrammar Myrick what say you?

I'm fine with either option. Though honestly, at this point, and after so many people dropping out, I think it should really be up to brvheart.

I know if I was GMing this one, frustration would have started to get a hold of me, so I think our GM should take this in the direction he wants - satisfied GMs make for better games.

Aggrammar already had 1 CLW potion. Nuala and Almon had one each that they no longer need. Lars add 1 CLW to your sheet. I've added the other to Soreks. Aggrammar should probably get the Holy Water.

I checked the other RA and the way they are handling magic items is...the item can be bought by a character at 1/2 value or it gets sold at 1/2 value either way the money gets added to party coffers and then split. Sound fair?

If this works for you guys...Do either of you want to buy at 1/2 value the +1 light mace or the +1 longsword? Or should we sell them? Even if you don't want these weapons long term its probably best to keep one magic weapon til you get a magic weapon of your preferred type. You can always sell it later.

Magic weapons will be rare for awhile so you may want to keep what you have until you have a surplus. The other party has a spork! Eventually you will wonder what to do with them all.

I think his Goblin thief will be fun to play with. A Goblin leading us into ra trying to bypass devious traps set by his brethren. Sounds good and even better if you allow unchained to help boost up his melee capability.

If any of you prefer a different way of splitting up the loot and or bookkeeping please let me know what you would prefer.

It's probably best for now for Lars to keep the sword and Aggrammar to keep the mace but it's Completely up to you, just makes bookkeeping easier and you can always sell the items yourself later when you get a magic weapon of your preferred type.

If you agree to this the splits will be as follows:

coins 1,146gp + 2,435gp mundane items+ 1007gp (+1 long sword) + 1002gp (+1 light mace)=5,590gp split 3 ways=
1863gp each for Lars Aggy and Sorek
Lars and Aggrammar can choose whether to purchase the magic weapons and subtract it from their total or sell them

Plus 271gp each for all 4 of us for loot accumulated since Myrick joined

of course this is all speculative seeing as we haven't made it back to Zelkors Ferry yet

I guess that means that it will be important for one of our casters to take craft wondrous as their 5th or 7th level feat. Or is the Cleric Bjorn in the ferry possibly able to craft items like Headbands of Wisdom, cloaks of protection etc..?
