I went to open it at work tonight and it wouldn't... I ran a diagnostic and the hard drive has gone. So I will borrow tech from where I may to try and stay up, the biggest problem is I like to type on word and keep it and build on it, but using multiple devices I won't be able to do that, so I will post when I can...

Do as you need - this is supposed to be "a good time was had by all" instead of "a chore was had by one" - just let us know, as you can!

Welp! That post I made in the other thread is a mess.

Figures: I try and clarify something and it looks... incomprehensible.

So~! Let's revisit and expand upon the derpiest map ever~!

Huzzah!

O: a main island; this is not really to scale, at all, but it shows the concept.

o: the lone small island in this area; again, not to scale, but shows the concept.

...: the seas; it's the wrong color (it should be black), but it's clearer this way.

The sea seems to extend as far as you can tell in all directions.

The distance from one island to another is only about ~300 feet (a little more), and each island is easily roughly half a mile in diameter (~2,640 feet).

Now, that bottom "O" is, on the next map (see below) going to be "FC" - it's the same place. So the DMEM could be instead...

So that's the Derpiest Map Ever Made ("DMEM"), and it's Key. Now for the DMEM: Eastward Expansion edition ("DMEM-EE")!

First, to clarify how the maps relate: you are on the bottom-most DMEM island - the one furthest "east" (because of how derpy works) - and that will be the top most island of the DMEM-EE. For DMEM-EE, I'm going to replace the "O" islands with a letter to differentiate them.

FC: "Fungus City" - the big jungle-city, apparently former home of the Stone Giatns, apparently infested with fungus.

SC: "Stone Camp" - the barren island where the stone giants reside.

BR: "Barren Rock" - a barren island.

CF: "Cloud Fort" - a large castle sized for its cloud giant inhabitants. This has a big bridge to the island SF, below.

//: "Big Bridge" - a bridge with seven torii-style gates and runes impressed in them; each gate has a guardian that must be given (at least one each) prayer and offering. It leads from CF to SF.

TG: "Training Ground" - a barren area with pit fires meant for combat training exercises.

SF: "Storm Fortress" - an strange semi-translucent shimmering fortress with storm giants inhabiting it; this has a big bridge to the island CF, above, and another bigger one to the island CH.

HT: "Hill Tribes" - an area with hill giants.

OG: "Ogre Ghetto" - an area infested with ogres; it's where they're kept.

\-\: "Bigger Bridge" - this enormous bridge also has seven torii-style gates and runes impressed in them, but the older runes are scratched out and replaced with newer; unlike the smaller one, there are no guardians. It leads from SF to CH.

CH: "Coven Home" - the island the coven is said to reside within.

...: the seas; it's the wrong color (it should be black), but it's clearer this way.

The sea seems to extend as far as you can tell in all directions.

The distance from one island to another is only about ~300 feet (a little more), and each island is easily roughly half a mile in diameter (~2,640 feet).

Please recall: this is a derpy map - specifically, the Derpiest Map Ever Made! Hence, though the bridges look kind of like they start beside the islands and drop you off in the water, they do not. I don't have a way of drawing them connecting between the islands, so I'm just kind of typing them up "next to" the islands. Sorry if that's confusing!

If you feel like it, feel free! I'm not going to demand anything, however - and you can see exactly what my cartographic skills look like!

If you want to (but no pressure to do so from me), they're basically nothing more than rough circles of half-mile-diameter land set ~300 feet apart (this varies a bit, but not too much) in a black sea.

I have no idea how much information you'd want:
Nothing grows or is set within ~20 ft. of the shoreline.

FC has a tangle of former buildings.

SC has a sparse smattering of permanently lit campfires pits.

All the BRs have nothing but gray sand and an occasional rock, or just a gray rocky surface.

CF looks like the entire island is a basic classical fantasy fortress, except scaled for cloud giants.

TG is actually the exact same thing as SC, except without Stone giants hanging around.

SF is like CF, except taller and the walls are all made of a kind of electric-reinforced force effect.

HT is just a bunch of Greco-Japanese commoner-style buildings made of rock.

OG is just a bunch of hovels on a rock.

CH looked (to your earlier scouting opinion) like a flat barren place like the BRs, but even darker.

Both the bridges - "//" and "\-\" are made of stone and have the seven gates across as previously described.

So... ~360 foot long with it's seven gates.

--1--2--3--4--5--6--7--

Each '--' segment is ~45 feet long.

In order, each segment is:
1) righteous anger (red, wrath; grants 1-use rage and evocation boost)
2) rest (orange, sloth; grants 1-use sloth and conjuration boost)
3) fertility (yellow, lust)
4) eager striving (green, ??)
5) wealth (blue, ??)
6) abundance (indigo, ??)
7) honest pride (violet, ??) GEE, I WONDER WHAT THE "??" FOR THIS ONE COULD BE

Feel free to do nothing with any of that - I'm just providing it in case it would help you (and you feel like doing it).

I live in the U.S. and more or less do the same.

I've gambled. Once. I was ~15, put in a quarter and got back $20.00. I decided to end my gambling career on a net positive~!

I don't drink alcohol or smoke because 1) I was raised not to and chose to embrace that aspect of my heritage; 2) I've seen exactly how many lives it can ruin by watching my extended family; 3) I can't stand the smells and they leave me nauseated and headache.

Drugs are similar, but, in addition to experiencing exactly what it was like to be entirely out of control (one bout of Tylonol-3 with Codine was more than enough for a lifetime, thank-you), as a Christian, I've led Bible Study/Christian Life Change "Small Groups" that had former or current abusers in it, and that is not a road I ever want to go down. I like my skin, face, hair, teeth, and, most importantly, mind too much to let it go that way.

Besides, I have certain issues that I get cold easily, so sometimes during rainy December months, I drink to get warmer(not much, just a bit). Besides its useful to know what to drink when you're out entertaining on work.

Cigarette smoke makes me sneeze. Urk!

Drugs - I swear caffeine is a drug. The last time I drank a whole cup of black coffee, I was like, twitchy the whole day. (No, tea has no effect on me). And chocolate makes me feel good...

And there's this...

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

Hahah! Yeah. Caffeine is definitely - literally, not figuratively - a drug. It's just a socially acceptable/expected one that happens to be mild enough to avoid causing major problems. I'd rather be free of it, myself, but I know that, at this point in my life, that's not really going to happen. I am naturally nocturnal, so I don't function in daylight hours without something forcing me to wake properly.

And chocolate stimulates the same feelings as falling in love, sooooo yeah. XD

Yeah, if there's any hidden message in Crone's stuff other than, "always starts with lower case/ends with upper case (with the occasional extra '-Y' to make it happen), every alternating letter changes caps/not" then it's a fluke.

The Maiden always starts lower case, eeeexxxxxteeeennnddssss anything with an 's' sound or anything like it, and always ends the sentence without one of those.

oh, I know you don't murder-hobo everything. I mean the trees and the grass and the flowers all seem to be ok. And is it really murder-hoboing if you eat the thing, I mean that's really hunting right?

The really gross part about this, since my brain went down the 'eat what you kill' bunny trail, is if you use the sap on the monkey to knock him out so you can put him in the table or after he is in the table....

Killing so you can eat them up is hunting =) Ish not murderhobo =) I prefer my things to be dead before I actually eat them. Not as if I get jollies watching things suffer, afterall.

And to be honest you really should be very careful about eating innards raw. There is a high risk of contamination and catching all kinds of nasty things. I know I don’t practice what I preach, since I have this tendency to eat my liver not very cooked. But fully cooked liver is so dry and hard…and I like the taste of blood…

But I mean if things fetch more money alive then dead, then I could use those moneys to buy more fish to eat? :)

yeah, I prefer steaks medium rare, but some things, like chicken and hamburger need to get to 180 F. before I will eat it, I still have never had liver cooked in a fashion where I went "man, I gotta get me more Liver!"

Mort, I have to ask, how do "Imperial Dragons" stack up and compare to anything in Chinese myth or legend? I've looked at it, before, but I'm certainly no expert - in anyone's, really - so I'm curious what it seems like to someone from an Eastern culture.

(It's funny, I made Dishadraluongg and Susulakun substantially before I knew that I'd have anyone from Eastern anything in a game of mine; hope that I didn't somehow create really offensive words or names or anything. Sorry, if I did!)

EDIT: ((And even funnier - to me - that it ended up being the person who actually has the hypothetical most connection to such a probably-butchered thing who ended up tied to it. Go figure!))

For Western dragons, the PF dragons are kind of like exaggerations of the tropes - creatures that are of impossible power, even by Western myths, in order to better fit in with the game world. Dragons were always super-impressive, of course, but having those creatures be powerful spellcasters, have so many supernatural abilities, and such varieties of exotic breath weapons are substantially beyond the pale of most "standard" Western myths (though, of course, our various fictions have them either more or less powerful than even this, depending).

I know that some Eastern dragons tend to have a lot of other characteristics and elements tied to them - lion-like dragons, dog-like dragons, and so on - but I lack a cultural understanding of what that means, if anything. I know that the serpentine forms (like the Imperial dragons) are most famous through combinations of Japanese anime (especially, I suspect, Dragon Ball and its related series) and manga (there was actually a Korean "manga" I followed for a brief time that I no longer know the name of that referenced a powerful water spirit that appeared the same), but I'm curious how that looks to someone from an actual Eastern culture.

I apologize if this seems like a totally n00bish or whatever line of questioning, I was just typing the name out just now and it really struck me as, "Wow, this name probably looks like total nonsense to anyone, even though it vaguely sounded kind of like a couple of eastern dragon names, to me." (as I basically smashed them together, so it'd probably be like 'Jofrahlnknew' or something for John, Frank, and Lew to us in the West - a name that doesn't really look like anything from more common names*).

* I suppose I didn't even do that much similarity. I just grabbed some sounds that sounded - to my totally not Eastern exerpeinces - vaguely like those that I heard. So, I suppose, kind of like the name "Phantomhive" for a British person's family in Black Butler, except, at least, those are still actual words. So I went even weirder! XD

Also: mmmmmmmmmmm steak.

My preferences are medium, but yeah - I'm all about well-cooked chicken and burgers. I haven't had enough liver (I've never really been able to go for it, much, though I've snacked off of my Dad's in the past) to say much, other than it's never been something I've wanted to have more than just the one bite. XD

Fish are great, too! I'm especially fond of tuna combined with macaroni and cheese. Yum.

Oh, also worth noting - I am currently very sick and on medicine.

If something is entirely nonsensical, I blame one of those two factors.

(Technically, though, it's Dayquil, so it shouldn't have any effect. Sooooo... so much for that excuse~!)

Lion head dragon - you talking about this?

Chinese dragons are more serpentine in nature. The picture is fine, but I would put their flight as an (Su) ability, somewhat akin to flight hex. Chinese dragons also are more mythical, as opposed to their - sorry- more reptallian western counterparts. They feature as minor deities in Taoism, and their powers are tied to the wind, tides and rain. Yes, I'd give them control weather/spells with water and air theme(call lightning, aqueous orb, lightning bolt) - though technically lightning and thunder is handled by Lei gong and his wife. How you can get rain without lightning and thunder always struck me as weird.

Chinese dragons do not have a breath weapon, but they can swallow things whole. Also, shapechange at will, because there is a legend of a dragon prince who turned into a horse to bring a priglim to the west. (Yes, Journey to the west).

Haku in spirited away is actually a river guardian spirit(of the Kohaku River.

Chinese magic doesn't go for categories like beastshape, instead you get the qi shi er pian - translates to 72 transformations, which you can turn into any god damn thing you want to. Then you get the jin dou yun -roughly translating as travelling cloud, where you ride on a cloud superfast, to wherever you want to go. I suppose the D&D equivalent is windwalk.

In Ji Gong, some characters get teleportation abilities, but its used mostly within the town itself(short ranged Ddoor?). Occasionally trips to heaven, but that would be under planeshift, I guess, but people never get the randomness associated with planeshift.

I don't think Chinese magic translates very well to D&D honestly.

Truth be told, neither does Western magic.

In reality, D&D has a lot of tropes that come more from modern stories rather than myth and magic - generally stuff like mind-reading, teleportation, and whatnot were considered realms of "psychic" creatures and stories (more modern takes) rather than traditionally magical stuff, and I rare is the actual myth that has anything resembling fireballs or similar direct magic.

Golems, for example, are (from my knowledge - be aware I'm very limited in some regards, so I could be wrong) purely the realm of the divine - what with being powered by runes by a priest for the express purpose of protecting his people (and it's a clay golem that goes berserk and needs to be put down by erasing the rune).

Generally the thing that meshes the most closely is stuff like ghosts and curses and enchantments and whatnot, though flying items and some similar elements exist in the tales of witches and so on.

Interestingly, our vampires are entirely unlike traditional Western vampires - you can directly trace the D&D/PF vampire to its "ancient" roots... in Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula (which upset quite a few of the mythological purists at the time, even as it was broadly considered a very well made popular-trash novel, from some of the oldest reviews I've read; it's well-written, though, and quite engaging!).

D&D has elements of both Tolkien (tonal style and quest-like essence) and Vance (in magical ideology), but actually imitates neither very well.

One of the reasons I really like both Blue Rose and Psionics (3.5 version, not 3rd) is that both actually work fairly well to tell more mythological stories and even modern ones (except for Vance, 'cause that guys' stories are weird, if kind of cool), and both do so in different ways. Neither are really good at the myth parts, though.

I do think PF and 3.X D&D could be used to do a fairly accurate retelling or recreation of various mythologies... but it'd require a lot of tweaking (especially spell levels and stuff). Most mystical beings ("wizards" or otherwise) would probably best be unique creatures with specific spell-like abilities rather than the actual mechanics "wizard" character.

(I find older editions similarly weird when trying to recreate fantasy stuff; and 4E doesn't even try to be anything other than GAME FOR GAME SAKE-style development, sooooo...)

((This isn't bashing 4E, in particular. There are fun things to be had, and I, for one, am extremely upset that it's the one published edition of D&D that didn't get a semi-faithful adaptation of the rules. Instead you got a Diablo-clone that, to all indications, wasn't even very good.))

Anyway! I'll get to writing a response (unless Usawoti manages to beat me to it!)

Few things:

Please inform me if any long term buffs of mine (tongues), heroism(will be cast soon) etc. wear off

Is the way to the tower clear – I get the impression if I get off the ground, I can’t see where I’m going, which would be crap for navigation.

Member of coven – do spirit animals(aka Shuuvu) count?

DC to ability – I choose Charisma – for concentration bonus when it happens since magic is going to be wonky there

My frost weapon will be a scorpion whip(yeah, how predictable). Though I doubt it will be my primary weapon. Prefer Beast mode ;)

Also – Usawoti will require a spell component pouch to function or he doesn’t get any spellcasting, lol, which I’ll cover in my post later.

did I forget to put a spell component pouch on my items list again? I hate playing casters...

Just read the game and discussion, Mondays are problematic because of meetings, so I just got up, I will need to post later.

At least I have my computer back, unfortunately repaired is not the same as "as it was" so I still need to put some things back together, I assumed that having documents put back on that it would have the same programs...

Before I decide what 'weapon' let me ask, is Usawoti going to get his original gear back or did the 'black water' destroy it?

I will be back on in a couple of hours...

You have now become an active agent.

You are no longer blinded by the effects that were in place, before. Once you are outside of this place - basically near the bridge again - since you can fly, you've pretty much only got air until you get to the tower. You may, of course, always make other stops...

Shuuvu will not count unless and until you happen to get near him/her (I... just realized I don't know). And then, yes, it will.

Remember, even if it's not your primary weapon, you certainly have a potentially devastating "ace" in the hole, should you need it.

You can presume components - they are effectively provided by the shard that is now in your hand.

EDIT: Silly ninja-barbarians! Always making it unclear who I'm responding to!

Hey, no problem. I... may need reminders from time to time, though. Sorry, if I rushed you! Not my intent - once the two bonds were in place, it was pretty much time to reveal the next step...

You may always choose to swing by for your gear. At present, there's a bit of a "crisis mode" but should you think it important enough, you may certainly do so.

Ah! One thing that is a failure of mine - the weapon is +2, but at any point, you may utilize greater magic weapon to (temporarily) turn it into a +5 (for ~20 minutes).
