"Psst, Master Dwarf, how do you politely ask someone if they are a Lady of Negotiable affection," Him'Wazir stage whispers loudly, "I don't want anything cutting off, but well, it does not take much kindling to stoke an old hearth..."[/ooc]
Throwing back his ale before the dwarf has a chance to respond, Him hiccups and slaps Nicias on the back, [b]"Or better yet, Nicias here can show an old man who has forgotten the ways of romance how they woo a beautiful woman in Taldor! Woo away lad *hic*."
Nicias
|
"You are not so old to have forgotten how to charm a lady! besides there are enough ladies here for all of us, there is no need for me to be greedy. How about a new round of poker?"
Nicias gathers the cards, shuffles them expertly and deals.
"Milady, I believe it is your turn to go first?"

Game play thread is now open... Merelda has already christened it.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria
OK.
I want to start here and now saying this character is kinda running away from me a little. I'm definitely enjoying it.
Please speak up if you feel I am going overboard however, or too silly. I have good reasons for why Merelda is the way she is, but I don't want it to disrupt the game.
So don't be afraid to speak up or complain.
Merelda really doesn't bite...much.
(Even then you have to ask her to do it!)
=)
I promise to try and keep it PG-13 (or better) as much as possible.
Lililinda
The smooch at the end might have been a bit much. I imagine Lililinda would recoil instinctively when Merelda went in for it. Or maybe just been left slightly unsettled.
Other than that, I am enjoying the interaction, don't get me wrong! I am very new to text-based roleplaying in general. I just recently decided to give it a shot and dove right in.
In any roleplaying, ooc communication between players is key. As long as we can discuss this maturely, everything will be fine. I'm excited for this game, I can't wait to see where we go!

Got it.

I'll second what Lililinda said. Communication is key and that is what I want to use the discussion boards for.
If a player ever feels myself or another has gone too far please say so. It will go a long way to making this story so much better for everyone.
Everyone is already doing this but let's keep the majority of our ooc in this thread when possible.

Him'Wazir -- is the feat that you have on your character sheet Slashing Grace, as opposed to Slashing Strike?
Him'Wazir nar Maekra
Yes, I use herolab and that is hows it is listed there for some reason, I did edit, but kept pasting new versions and must have forgotten.
GM Aumakua
First encounter is underway.
How Combat Will Be Run
**Initiative order** Each player will roll their initiative. Once all rolls are made I will place you in groups depending on if your roll was higher or lower than my roll(s). Players who are grouped together can act in any order in their respective group. This is done to speed up an encounter.
In the Gameplay thread I will indicate the current round as well as whichever player(s) has an action.
**Time to act** To keep the game moving I will give each player 24 hours to act. If you don't act by then you will move to the bottom of the initiative order (as if you delayed your action). If everyone has performed their action and you still have not taken an action. You will lose your turn for that round.
**Movement** I will be using Google slides for the combat round. Each map square will have an alpha numeric coordinate in case there are is someone who is unable to move the token. Just indicate the coordinates you want to move to and I will do it for you.
I will have the map up and the link ready to go later tonight.
Kirzon
Hooray! Let the action begin!
@GM Aumakua - I think it's fine if the GM rolls group initiative for everyone to keep things moving, but anything's fine.
Thoughts about how to handle Boros's initiative? I think it's cleaner to just use a single die roll, using the average initiative bonus of Kirzon and Boros (rounded down) as the initiative modifier. But I'll make separate rolls this time just in case.
*Edited for accuracy for what I'm really proposing.*
Him'Wazir nar Maekra
I'm also for the GM rolling initiative, it just cuts out a step and potentially saves a considerable amount of time. Plus with your method it would allow you to collate the init groups on the spot.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria
Agreed. The GM rolling the initiative cuts out loss of time between and less posting needed by everyone, as long as the GM is kosher with it.
GM Aumakua
Ok if the majority is fine with me rolling for everyone I will.
Kirzon: For now I'll give Boros his roll own too.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria
Nicias, I'm at work, so you should go ahead and go if you can go first once the GM sets up the 1 round order per his instructions.
GM Aumakua
FYI: I'll be doing Knowledge checks a little different than what you normally would find in other games. When it comes to detailing creatures I will decide what you know as opposed to asking you what you would like to know. So depending on the creature's HD and rarity two players could succeed with the exact same number and know different details.
GM Aumakua
If Lililinda doesn't roll tonight I'll roll for her to move this along. It's not 24 hours so hopefully they will be alright with it.

That's fine by me however you want to do it. As an inquisitor its part of my class abilities to identify enemies and weaknesses so that was why I was trying at all. Especially since I'm officially the power-house of the group with my 13 strength!
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria
Thank you.
=)
So who is in the first assigned combat group to go? The enemy, or us?
GM Aumakua
Crap I forgot Boros!!!! I'll need to create one tonight sorry Kirzon. Just note via coordinates where you want Boros to be.
GM Aumakua
that makes sense I would rule he wouldn't be hindered by the table or chairs.
Lililinda
I imagine the effects of the daze spell to be a more severe version of the feeling you get when you enter a room and can't remember what you came there for. :D
Innis
Poor woman, but at least she didn't enter the room to instantly turn tail and run like the Cult Warrior's instant U-Turn
GM Aumakua
Lol for some I always thought daze was like a thousand bright lights going off then I read the description after you cast it Lililinda.

That's a really interesting way to put it.
I always assumed it was a minor mental attack that causes a kind-of Alzheimer's moment in the target.
GM Aumakua
Work is going to delay me this morning will have something posted by just after noon EDT
GM Aumakua
DM NOTE:
I have posted the effects of the disease which everyone except Kirzon has contracted.
Everyone should have taken a CON point off of their sheet and should have adjusted their hp if necessary.
GM Aumakua
The details regarding what you know of the disease is under a spoiler in the Campaign Info tab (The Reaping Sickness)
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria
What time of day do we roll the Fortitude save?
Can we do anything to increase our chances of success? (Heal Checks, magical bonuses to saving throws, etc...)
Are we contagious?
Kirzon
I'm going to note this now, so we can keep things moving when the time comes for heal checks. With just a bit of help, Kirzon should be able to give the entire party a +4 bonus to their checks vs. disease with the Treat Disease action. He has a +7 bonus for his heal check, and a minimum +1 bonus for his free Inspiration. So if he takes 10 on a heal, and anyone else (with a non-negative wisdom modifier) takes 10 on and Aid Another, then the heal check is Heal: 10 + 7 + 1 + 2 = 20. Does that work?
GM Aumakua
I've updated information regarding heal checks to treat the disease as stated here:
Heal Checks A DC 20 Heal check to treat disease grants the afflicted creature a +4 bonus to their Fort save to suspend the
effects of the disease. Additional attempts to use the Heal skill to treat disease is possible, but each attempt cumulatively increases the DC of the Heal check by +2.
Merelda I'll do it every 24 hours so it will take place in the night for the party.
Kirzon I'd let you take 10 but if someone is aiding you I would consider that to be additional attempts to use the Heal skill so it would cancel out the +2 as additional attempts raise DC by 2.

We will have to buy or find what we need as we go. We really don't have a lot of time to make much of anything I think.
GM Aumakua
Yes as you are starting to realize time is against your group now.

For some reason I expected more evil chuckles and mustache twirling with this statement.

Unless Vesaro has some highly flammable alcohol we can make Molotov cocktails out of, I think we are as ready as can be. If he does, I'll buy at least a few bottles that I can afford and carry. (And any tindertwigs he may have! =))
