| Gypsumay |
Ok, ended up going with the second set of stats afterall. Still need to do equipment but everything else is set.
Living in Ankh-Morpork, Gypsumay changed her name from Carnelian because she thought it sounded more exotic. She is for lack of a better term a bumpkin living out the big city dream. She has seen it all in the last two years and tried as much as she could. This has gotten her in to a little spot of trouble. She is into Chrysoprase for a tidy sum of money due to a slab habit she picked up and he wants his money now.
She has been working hard to make money to keep herself from having to throw sheets on at the club. Now that she has been instrumental in the creation of the wondrous new gun powder, known to her as Argrahaoooahug or powder that makes rocks fly far, she will not allow any goohuloog piece of ghuhg with a megaphone take that from her. She is not going to go to Chrysoprase and tell him he isn't getting his money, no that would be unhealthy to say the least.

---Reviews---
What I like: The spirit of Discworld! The creativity and humor floods your background. It's going to be a fun build too, gunslinger is fun in itself but as a troll it might be even crazier.
What I'm interested in see: Beyond a troll with a musket? It's going to be interesting seeing the somewhat reformed country bumpkin who is also desperate in her need. I also just realized we have 3 quests in common as you are also Saladraxis and were Marcus in the promising quest that never was. So that's what I'm also interested in seeing.
Changes: Nothing at the moment, maybe something when the build is finished.

I have updated the Flyer Archetype in the Player's Guide. I will review it a time or two to make sure it's balanced but you can use it you create your character's build now.

Thansk, going to try the built with really low strenght and see what it does when I enter all the number. If it really seems to weak, I will take the point built.
The only thing that worries me about str 1 is that if the character becomes fatigued, he won't be able to move (although, a belf of strenght should fix that).

So I'm still working out my concept and the mechanics, but I'm thinking of a Human Rogue that belongs to the Guild of Copy Writers. He has been rather successful up till this point because of his knack for getting people to believe what he says and claims. And life only seems to be getting easier now that he has the help of a Nac Mac Feegle, because the world knows that you should always read the fine print, and few can produce finer print then a Nac Mac Feegle.

I thought it would fit the situation well and should be a fun character to play. I kind of want to model him after Moist Von Lipwig, one of the most distinguished conmen of the disc.
However, I'm working on doing some homework for the role and it has brought a few questions to my mind.
While I greatly enjoyed reading Wee Free Men, I'm currently perusing the Discworld Wiki for further information on a matter of different subjects. One of them would happen to be the Nac Mac Feegle. Within the article on them, it refers to them weilding swords that glow blue in the presence of lawyers.
- Would it be possible for my little sidekick to have such a sword?
Otherwise, I am looking forward to using the gnome flyer archetype with him. Not only will he be capable of producing masterful copies for me, but he'll be able to deliver them as well. Truly a sidekick worth having around in the beautiful partnership they have begun. Not only does he cut down on the workload, but he makes the deliveries as well, keeping my PC out of the line of fire.
Now in terms of actual mechanics, I have to ask the following:
- How do we determine the stats for our cohorts? Same process of rolls? Strict Point Buy?
- Would you accept Profession (Scribe) as a suitable alternative skill for making forgeries as opposed to linguistics?
| Shadowtail24 |
You can use a single rolled set of 4d6 or you can use heroic npc stats: 15,14,13,12,10,8. You can roll first and then choose.
Of course that sword will exist! Add the price of a level 1, cl 5 spell casting fee and you should be set. The weapon does not have to be masterwork.
Profession scribe is acceptable for forging documents in languages you know. Anything beyond that would require Linguistics.

I have to say that, I'm going to be highly amused if I roll better stats for him then I did for myself...
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 6) = 20 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 1) = 10 = 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 5) = 17 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 6) = 20 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 4) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 5) = 16 = 14
...speaking of those stats. Not too shabby for a Nac Mac Feegle.
PC's Stats
Strength: 10 = 10
Dexterity: 14 = 14
Constitution: 13 = 13
Intelligence: 13 = 13
Wisdom: 10 = 10
Charisma: 16 + 2 = 18
Nac Mac Feegle Stats
Strength: 9 - 4 = 5
Dexterity: 16 + 2 = 18
Constitution: 14 + 2 = 16
Intelligence: 14 = 14
Wisdom: 16 + 2 = 18
Charisma: 11 = 11
And cool, I look forward to seeing what type of shenanigans these two get into.

Rereading the rules on flanking, I realized that it is only possible for creatures larger than tiny (so impossible for my assassin, unless someone else is doing the flanking). So, I am trying to find other ways, but it's not looking good. I would still feel like playing him even though he would be pretty much useless in battle. However, knowing that you like strong characters.... welll, maybe I should change concept?

Maybe I could suggest something?
Have you considered making him a combat rider instead of flyer?
Consider this, rather than him flanking, his mount flanks. Rather than him firing a tiny pistol, he is the crew loading and firing the cannons strapped to his mount's sides.
So, a riding dog for example (a small one, not a medium one), with muskets strapped to his flanks, used as mobile artillary. Or a rotating gearwork turret for a saddle, with a pair of break open pistols that the gnome reloads and fires.

Right! I feel really dumb, I had assumed that the bird companion was tiny not small!!! So, it is possible to flank!
Although, I won't consider the bird a "ship", Trop will use him to get flanking. That should work, right?
As for the dog suggestion mdt, it's an interesting idea, but it would get my character too far from the original idea: a pigeon/rat slayer. A dog would be a bit too big (I feel).
