Glyndon |
Glyndon, still baffled by the vanity of the knight, shakes his head and says to the gnome vanity and muscles, give the good pretty boy a mirror and he would finally see his soul mate.
Is it true then? Is it you who sent for us? I thought we were supposed to meet someone, but that the someone was not who sent for us.
Sir Baltazar |
"Hm.... strange-acting gnomes and woodcutters who won't talk..." Baltazar muses as he absently (not really) strokes his neatly trimmed beard. "This sounds worrying indeed. If woodcutters don't talk, how will people know when trees they are chopping fall down? This is indeed, very troubling. Many innocents could be hurt by silently falling trees, yes?"
Then his gaze goes to the gnome's leg. "Oh, what happened to your leg? Did a tree fall on you silently?" He asks.
Porter Clayborne |
Shaking his head and chuckling lightly, Porter joins "the discussion team". Hehehe, silently falling trees, that's a good one
Turning to Glyndon: "Just a few more moments of your patience, 'fore we go off again wandering into some woods or whatever."
Joining to Rosa's request, he adds: "Porter Claybourne, my dear lady, it's a pleasure to meet ya. Now, as our little lady hear said..." - he nods lightly towards Asimar - "...could you please tell us a bit more of that disease you mentioned. What does it mean when you say insanity? How does it show, what do the affected gnomes do? Can we contract the same disease also, or is it only affecting gnomes? And when you say woodcutters - are they all gnomes, or there are other races involved?"
Zaharin Jozaidir |
Zaharin hides a smirk when his suspicions turned up true. Wordlessly he shuffles nearer to the ongoing discussion. He introduces himself with a slight bow.
I am Zaharin, here on your request.
After listening to her story he puts forward his own ideas.
Probably the woodcutters are avoiding talking to your gnomes in fear of contracting the madness themselves. On another note, are you sure you are not growing mad yourself?
Lady Rosa Luminess |
Rosa nods at Zaharin comment,
"that seems like a very plausible explanation for what may have happened" She thinks to herself.
Mr. Thrun |
Thessilin pauses, I think I did not do a very good job explaining.... My bad, I was in a bit of a rush to get the information out. To answer you one at a time, yes it was I who sent for you Yeah, that entire meet someone else thing was for the other group and I got confused between you two. Also, what I was trying to say was that the woodcutters are gnomes, not humans or dwarves. It was just a family of them that is no longer communicating with the town, thats what happens when we seem to catch this disease. As far as the disease goes, I can not help you to much. I have not been able to get out and about so all I know is what my Rangers have told me. From what they have heard and seen it sounds like the gnomes out in the forest have lost all logic and knowledge of friend and foe. They become very wild and maybe feral, and will not move to the city, they stay in their woods. But in all truth, I am not sure though, that is why I called you in.
Lady Rosa Luminess |
"Yes I agree that constitutes a disease of some kind, but lets but mistake A disease, often construed to be a medical condition associated with specific symptoms and signs. In this case Gnomes going or acting wild. Caused by internal dysfunctions, such as beaching diseases, with A disease caused by external factors, such as infectious disease, a Glammer , Cursed or even a plan charms that my affect most prime native beings. How ever a "disease" means broadly in refer to any condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, or death to the person or persons afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function, while in other contexts and for other purposes these may be considered distinguishable categories. Diseases usually affect people not only physically, but also emotionally, as contracting and living with many diseases can alter one's perspective on life, and their personality. In this case they seem to have forgotten civilization and become wiled, or reverted back to a pre-civilized form, add to that the fact we have been told this is a Fay area, it leads me to think may be some of the 1st world is leaking out here, to some other magic art is in play, of course this dos not rule a mundane course at play such as simple addiction to a new recreational drug, tainted foods or even poisoning pay a 3ed party and ...."
She says all this wile making notes,
as the other fall silent wile she talks, she stops and looks up, blushes furiously then looking down again, silent once more, scribbling faster then ever in her small note book.
"I did it again!, making a fool of myself, now they are all looking at me, when will a learn to keep my mouth shoot, stupid stupid.."
Glyndon |
Glyndon listens to Rosa for about the first line, then looks at the Gnome I am going to go get a drink, did you want something?
He gets up, without waiting for the answer and walks to the barkeep. 3 mugs of he house special brew and a plate of whatever dead animal you got back there, preferably well cooked.
he puts 3 Silver on the counter That should cover it and then walks back to the table.
He looks at Rosa so, gnomes acting funnier than usual, we should check it out
lifeisaparody |
Baltazar tries to understand what it is that the aasimar is explaining, but he finds it way too difficult. Instead, he nods sagely as though he agrees completely.
"I believe this is what the Venture Captain meant, when he said that there were Strange Acts with Fey," He posits. Then thinks to himself, Gnome woodcutters? That, to me, is strange already. Don't they just sit in gardens or something? Perhaps... they become Strange when they are too far removed from their Gardens. In any case... oh my god, is that a zit? Ah no, just some travel dirt.
"We will help you check it out," Affirms the paladin heroically. "Does your injury need any tending? Perhaps we can relieve you of some discomfort?"
Mr. Thrun |
The Bartender will hand Glyndon 3 large mugs of a dark brew and run into the back room and return with a bowl of stew that has pieces of what looks like sheep in it. Here you go good maser.
Thessilin turns to Baltazar and looks ecstatic at his offer. Yes please, we don't have a cleric in this town and none of our mages are skilled in healing. It would be wonderful if you could hurry up the process.
Unless anyone else wants something to happen, I will be continuing on the group toward the woodcutters in the forest on Thursday
Glyndon |
Glyndon drinks his beer, both of them the third he gave to the gnome, and eats his meal. alright let us go.
He then checks his flask, nearly empty, he then takes the carefully wrapped bottle from his pack and refills it. He then carefully wraps the bottle back up and places it back in his bag.
Zaharin Jozaidir |
So tell me about these rangers of yours. The ones who tell you of this current problem. Where could we meet them. First hand information is always helpful.
Zaharin looks at the leg and speaks on.
It would be very well to you for your leg to heal completely. But Northern hospitality complements the weather completely. Your leg would heal well naturally.
Mr. Thrun |
Thessilin smiles, Oh don't be so hard on old Vagadir here. He is actually one of the only Ulfen men in town that is equal in treatment of humans and gnomes, the rest don't take kindly to me and my kin. I would love to send you to one of my rangers but right now they are all watching the Uthen Nggold Hills. When you return from the woodcutters encampment and they return from watch I would be glad to show you to them.
Lady Rosa Luminess |
Rosa will fix the Gnomes leg, then pack her medical things away.
"Well that should be it, stay off it for a few days, but should be better"
she walks over to the others and follows them out when they go
Porter Clayborne |
Porter is oddly silent throughout the discussion. Actually, he could not really understand fully what the little gnome lady wanted from them, aside from checking on one "diseased" gnome woodcutter family. I mean, what if they resist, or try to attack us, what if....
Even though he was more than slightly dipsy - OK by the time their aasimar lady cleric went to another of her rants Porter was already quite drunk, but even in that state there was to many "if's" for his liking.
And the fact that pretty paladin-boy claims to understand everything with such utter conviction is making me fear for our faiths even more...
Luckily, the booze overtook big man (as it usually does) and come next morning, he was ready to go, with one mild hangover.
Mr. Thrun |
The party starts out of Dwellhold just after a quick conversation and some rest. You make quick work passing over the plane that separates the valley that the town is in and the large and ever ominous forest. Following the quick instructions that were written down on your map, you move through woods of tall pine and fir trees. As you come closer to the spot marked on your map you see that the dirt path you were following into the forest seems to have divergent trails that lead to small houses. When the sign for the woodcutters camp finally comes into view there is no sight of the edge of the forest and you are surrounded in the darkness of the over hanging trees. Give me a PERCEPTION CHECK. Also, I want to do a round of combat a day; so when you eventually do hit combat I need to know if it is alright for me to control your character and give it a basic action, if you don't post.
Sir Baltazar |
Baltazar strides within range of the camp, then attempts to Detect Evil using his paladin prowess to determine if there's any evil presence in the camp.
Perception: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
And yeah, go ahead with controlling Baltazar if I don't post.
Also, I guess I'm blind :P
Lady Rosa Luminess |
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 Perception
Fine with me GM No Rosa will take flight to height land and shoot from there, not shoot wile flying she poor at that.
as Rosa is walking in the dark and some one may fall and hurt themselves she will of course light up, unless told other wise. and hand every one a small stone she casts light on every 10 mins.
Some aasimars possess the ability to manifest halos. An aasimar with this racial trait can create light centered on her head at will as a spell-like ability. When using her halo, she gains a +2 circumstance bonus on Intimidate checks against evil creatures and on saving throws against becoming blinded or dazzled. This racial trait replaces the darkvision standard racial trait.
Glyndon |
If Rosa is going to insist on being a homing beacon, Glyndon moves out of range, +30 feet, preferably in scouting ahead of the group, prepared to move back if I notice any baddies.
Stealth 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 to try in remain in cover while scouting ahead
Basically I just want to stand clear of the light to try and have an advantage should anything happen
Lady Rosa Luminess |
She in no way insisting Glyndon, as no one has told her not to, she will do this as I said 'unless told other wise', she has never done this kind walking out in the wilds before and shes of thinking someone may come to harm in the dark tripping over
Mr. Thrun |
Ok, I know google docs is not going to do very well for combat but I may be able to get a different system soon.
Everyone give me an initiative check.
Go ahead and place yourselves where I have outlined. (If you want to Glyndon you can be 1 square out of the regular area as you were up ahead.)
Mr. Thrun |
So the list right now is for initiative is right now: 1st-Monsters, 2nd-Glyndon, 3rd- Baltazar, 4th-Rosa, 5th-Triblin, 6th-Porter. (Also I am assuming Zaharin has a readied action on if the shapes move? If so that would mean he would pop in at 2nd.)
As the party enters out into the glade 3 shapes emerge from the sides of the trees and begin to move toward the party. You first notice them as gnomes, more than likely the ones that you were told to search for. There is something obviously wrong with them though; they have undergone a gruesome transformation from Gnome to, something else..... The gnomes bodies are now hunchbacked and almost ape-like in walking style. They are moving a large long gait, their arms hanging down to the ground and helping them move. Their bodies have gotten disgustingly thin, leaving their rib-cage obvious clear and has made their spine protrude from their back making them look more skeleton than living. The gnomes hands have had the bone in the fingers extend, breaking out of the skin and leaving long, white, and sharp bones protruding from each finger; It almost looks as though they have gained claws made out of their own bone. Adding to their ghoul-like appearance is the covering of their body in dry blood and gore. Making no sign of recognition of friendly people they rush toward the party screaming a raspy scream while raising their claw-like hands.
Ok, try to get one combat action in a day please. So I guess it's to you Zaharin. Also Baltazar, these are evil.
Mr. Thrun |
The two gnomes (actually still living, so you know) that are farthest away rush toward the party. The one that Zaharin shot at takes an arrow to the chest but almost seems to shrug part of the blow off, as though some barrier prevents the damage. He rushes up next to the closest target and lashes out with his bone claw.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 221d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
That goes to Glyndon.
Btw guys so you know, the forest counts as difficult terrain to move through. Also if you swing from it you suffer a -2 to your attack and if you defend from it you gain a +2 to your AC. (He still hit you though, Glyndon)
Lady Rosa Luminess |
Round 1
Initiative 13
Active Spells:
Rosa whats to fly up, 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 perception but with the trees she can see no clear way. So she moves back [16-F] and using her bow shoots at a Blood Gnome G-11
TH1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
DMG1d8 ⇒ 3
Glyndon |
Round 1 Init 22
Glyndon attempts to climb nearest tree with a view of the clearing where the gnomes are and pull out his bow
Climb 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
acrobatics for balance 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
If the trees in the area do not look secure I forgo climbing and just use a tree for cover and fire at one.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Sir Baltazar |
[Baltazar - round 1]
Baltazar sees the gnomes rushing towards them, and realizing that he must do something, steps forward to halt the incoming rush.
5ft step, then Longsword with Power Attack vs Gnome
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 1 = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13
But his beautiful hair gets into his own face, obscuring his sight and causing his swing to go wide.
