Boudacia |
I moved a bit further away from the Mudlord, thanks Stormstrider.
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Chalkou has no clue as to what this creature is.
Raziel & Chalkou still have a standard action left if wanted?
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Okay, a LOT more than 24 hrs have passed since the original initiative post for Block 3 players was made on Friday, 7/2 @ 3:32 pm. Raziel & Chalkou both made posts wanting knowledge checks, but gave no indication as to their standard actions. So I will go ahead and bot them. *** Chalkou, there may be a possibility that you are confused as to the layout of the map. Remember that you are looking at a 3-dimensional map with multiple levels, but only seeing it from above, so it is difficult to imagine/'picture' the other layers. You have placed your icon in a room one layer above the encounter. These room do connect at the "small, submerged wall" were you are standing, but you will either have to break through that wall, or climb over it, and be dropping about 8 ft or so to the floor beneath. Whereas if you simply continued down the hall you were in (Going under the passageway to E5) you would emerge in the same room as the rest of the party. I believe that was your intent, so I shall move your icon accordingly. If not, we can backtrack to change it.
***********************************************************
Chalkou moves almost as far as he can (55 ft, double move) to get into a position to threaten this creature with his longspear, but he has no clue as to what type of creature this is.
***********************************************************
Raziel goes ahead and fires a Magic Missile at the creature. But he finds he has to 'concentrate' a bit harder than usual ... (Flavor text = Spell Resistance check!)
Spell Resistance: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
and Raziel finds his spell fizzling out with no results, other than learning another bit of useful information about this muddy creature. It has a relatively good capability of withstanding spells!
***********************************************************
CURRENT INITIATIVE:
Top of the round.
Block 1:
Lonam {Full HP}
Block 2:
Hostile
Block 3:
Boudacia {Full HP}, Uriel {45 of 48 HP, and holding his breath! Round 2 of 24}, Raziel {35 of 38 HP}, Ilyanaro {Full HP} & Chalkou {Full HP}
Lonam Asri |
Lonam will attempt to hit the "moving wall" with his morningstar.
to hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Lonam just barely manages to smack the muddy creature ...
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
but he realizes that for some reason the Mudlord takes no damage, however he does here a 'grunt' in the somewhat familiar voice of Uriel.
Uriel takes 2 points of damage. Please see post in Discussion talking about this (which will be made later because I'm falling asleep & need my nap before going to the torture chamber (work) tonight).
*************************************************************************** *
EDIT: I forgot the Misfortune Hex!
The Mudlord will take one swing at Chalkou, and one at Lonam.
1st Attack roll on Chalkou: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
2nd Attack roll on Chalkou (Misfortune): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
1st Attack on Lonam: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
2nd Attack roll on Chalkou (Misfortune): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
He misses Chalkou, but strikes Lonam solidly!
Damage to Lonam: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 3 = 10 Damage to Lonam!
1st roll to maintain Uriel in engulfed/grappled condition vrs pinned FF CMD 17: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18
2nd roll to maintain Uriel in engulfed/grappled condition vrs pinned FF CMD 17: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
Engulfed damage to Uriel: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Boudacia |
Boudacia employs the Slumber Hex on the Mudlord then Cackles.
It is probably immune to sleep but Boudacia does not know that. Evil GM. :(
Ilyanaro Balmaris |
"Once again, I apologize if this damages you, Uriel. It remains our best opportunity to damage this mud creature."
Ilyanaro raises the glowing tip of his staff and unleashes a force missile at the monster.
Force Missile: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 force damage
Spell Resistance: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
The All-Seeing Eye. |
So, Uriel pointed out that his flat-footed/pinned CMD is 21 not 17. 17 is what Hero Lab was telling me, and while investigating that I found out that I forgot to include the + 5 that the monster is supposed to get since Uriel is already pinned, so adding that + 5 to the role would indicate that the Mudlord was able to maintain the grapple/pin/engulf. This is still under 'debate' via private chats with Uriel, so 'may' change, but unknown at this time.
**********************************************************
Boudacia uses her Slumber hex, but the Mudlord takes no notice of it. (Yes, the Elemental Mudlord is immune to sleep! As are ALL basic elementals! But it was already in the module! I didn't add it or change it just for the immunity to sleep.)
**********************************************************
Ilya launches his Force Missile and it does strike the Mudlord, but fizzles out as well.
Unsuccessful in overcoming the Mudlord's SR. Sorry.
**********************************************************
Chalkou's spear stabs deep into the Mudlord!
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Chalkou realizes that his magical lonspear seems to have done full damage to the Mudlord!

CURRENT INITIATIVE:
Block 3:
Boudacia {27 of 37 HP} (already went), Uriel {36 of 48 HP, and holding his breath! Round 2 of 19}, Raziel {35 of 38 HP}, Ilyanaro {Full HP} (already went) & Chalkou {Full HP} (already went)
Uriel of Mendev |
The first thing Uriel notices is the horrendous stench of rotting corpses in this room. Secondly, this room is an absolutely totally muddy mess! It is quite obvious that until very recently this room was filled with extremely dirty, muddy water, and the walls and floor are still caked in mud. Almost anything that used to be small to medium sized sea-life at some point in time, has rotted to nothing but skeletal remains, or in the most recent cases, there are still bits of rotten flesh stuck in the mud on the floor and even on the walls as well.
Suddenly, a section of what looked like part of the wall, comes to life! A creature apparently made of ... mud? ... slams 2 arm-like appendages out attempting to hit Uriel! The first appendage strikes Uriel!
Uriel: 9 damage & you are grappled!
The muddy creature then attempts to pull Uriel into itself ...
Uriel gets pulled into the creature and becomes engulfed! He manages to take a deep breath and close his mouth just before getting covered in mud!
Engulfing damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Uriel rages at his own lack of awareness as he is mauled and then engulfed by the slimy creature. He burns with rage as his namesake, his sword and shield bursting into flame inside the creature. Managing to bump his closed fist against his breastplate, Uriel invokes Imodae’s blessing to salve the worst of his wounds.
Uriel then bursts into a frenzy, lashing out with blade and shield trying to free himself from the muddy morass.
Free action Elemental Assault (Fire), swift action Lay on Hands, Standard Action attempt to escape the grapple/engulf.
The hostile creature 'sizzles' slightly as Uriel lights his fire from the inside of it. But struggle as he might, Uriel does not manage to break free of the creature!
Engulfed damage to Uriel: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Smother, reduce time engulfed creature can hold breath: 1d6 ⇒ 5
.
..
.
After thrashing futilely to escape the wall of mud, Uriel thinks to himself, ”Okay, calm down, whatever kind of aggressive sideways quicksand mud trap this is on the wall won’t be escaped by flailing around. Remember your training!
Thus encouraged, Uriel also remembers he has water breathing! Is this muddy water or watery mud? Can he breathe it?
Untrained Knowledge Arcana or Nature: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11
"Best to not chance it," thinks Uriel, falling back on his training. The swirling mud presses some precious air out of his mouth--"Air bubbles go up!"
Armed with this knowledge, Uriel drops his sword and shield (free actions), swimming 'upwards' with the bubbles (2 swim move actions) to try and get out of this mud trap.
First Swim check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Second Swim check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Raziel Drakan |
Bah, I unfortunately decided to chose Snowball as one of my memorized spells by default BEFORE checking the new version... Alas, if we survive another day, I'm gonna change that :P
Also can't edit the map at the moment.. Want to move two squares south and west of Lonam (I don't believe there is water there, right? If there is, I will just attack from where I stand).
Raziel changes his position, shuffling ahead, and sending a conjured ball of pure ice at the creature.
Snowball Touch attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage if it hits: 5d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 4, 1) = 12
Wow... That damage...
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Okay folks. I need to do some Retcon here to correct an error or two. Sorry. Trying my best, but work is literally killing me slowly (IMHO).
First, I need to expand/clarify my description of the Mudlord's initial actions on the surprise round, as most of you seem to think you're attacking the wall.
Everyone notices suddenly that there is a large (Middle-sized) pile of mud in a vaguely humanoid shape, that you had not seen before simply because it blended into its surroundings so well! But now you suddenly see two arm-like appendages extend from that mud-pile in front of the wall, hit Uriel, hold onto him for a brief moment & then pull him into the muddy pile!
Again, just to be clear, that happened on the surprise round and 1st round.
***********************************************************
Now this will be changing some things from my post back on Monday 8/5. The Mudlord cannot keep Uriel engulfed AND also make attacks against others, so, I'll keep the attacks it made and simply release Uriel from the engulf/grapple.
Uriel suddenly finds himself sliding out from the pile of mud!
***********************************************************
I know I still need to do some more things here, but sleep is overtaking me again, sorry. I am off from work today, Wednesday, so I will get to it today, just bare with me a bit please. *** Oh! And for anyone who read about my GM quitting suddenly on Monday - Last night I found out that either she was: 'Just thinking out loud' or else 'She just changed her mind'. But either way she is supposedly staying on as the GM. ... Hmmm ... The company now knows she was thinking of quitting AND willing to screw everyone over by quitting without giving ANY notice what-so-ever?!?! If I were a betting man, I would bet that they are not going to keep her employed for very much longer! *** Goodnight/good 'sleep-period' world.
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Sorry I didn't get back to you all sooner. Rough day. Tried to take a nap, since I only slept about 3.5 - 4 hrs, but it was 85 degrees inside the house per the thermostat, and I could not figure out how to get the AC on! Could not sleep, but too uncomfortable & irritated to be able to try to think clearly & rationally! Landlord & his wife left today & plan to come back on Monday. I suspect the possibility that he perhaps did something to the AC so I could not run it?!?
I have 4 fans running at top speed even now! 2:15 AM Still 75 degrees.
******************************************************************
Raziel, I know the Snowball spell used to ignore SR, but that apparently changed in 2017 with the publishing of the book "Ultimate Wilderness". According to the Archives of Nethys - Snowball description (which is now the official Pathfinder rules site - or whatever the proper terminology is!) SR does apply to Snowball, so I'll go ahead and roll that for you.
Overcome Spell Resistance?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
WOW! Definitely Yes! Hahaha! Too bad for you that your damage roll was so low.
As Raziel's Snowball strikes the Mudlord, you see some of the muddy body solidify briefly and the Mudlord appears to grimace in pain. (Flavor text only. Normal Snowball damage.)
******************************************************************
CURRENT INITIATIVE:
Block 3:
Boudacia {Full HP} (Already went), Uriel {45 of 48 HP}, Raziel {37 of 38 HP} (Already went), Ilyanaro {Full HP} (Already went) & Chalkou {Full HP} (Already went)
So Uriel still has a full round worth of actions from his new prone position.
Uriel of Mendev |
Still reeling from his ordeal and covered in a thin layer of mud, Uriel spends a moment to recover himself, then gets to his feet warily, trying to avoid any stray swings from the mud creature.
Standard action full defense, move action to stand.
Oh, and he takes a deep breath of that sweet, sweet air, because of course he does.
Lonam Asri |
(I am having a procedure this morning and will be groggy the rest of the day, so setting my round now, please insert when necessary)
Lonam will take a 5-step adjustment to back away from the Mud Lord. Lonam will delay his action, waiting to channel positive energy as soon as the Mud Lord goes down.
healing: 5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 6, 4) = 15
Lonam Asri |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
should we bot the DM?
"Lonam rescues Uriel and saves the day!!"
The All-Seeing Eye. |
should we bot the DM?
"Lonam rescues Uriel and saves the day!!"
Hahaha! Fair enough. Sorry folks. Day off and had to get some things done in RL. Took longer than expected. but here goes!
Not sure why? Chalkou's icon was next to the Mudlord's? For his longspar attack he has to be 10 ft away, so I moved his icon back to the correct position. *** This will actually benefit you all.
************************************************************************
The Mudlord looks at the longspear held by Chalkou which hurt him badly, and he suddenly strikes both arms out further than before striking at Chalkou! (Lunge Feat)
1st attack, 1st roll, due to Misfortune: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
1st attack, 2nd roll, due to Misfortune: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21 Hit.
2nd attack, 1st roll, due to Misfortune: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
2nd attack, 2nd roll, due to Misfortune: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6) + 3 = 10
Grab/grapple attempt vrs CMD 22, 1st roll due to Misfortune: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
Grab/grapple attempt vrs CMD 22, 2nd roll due to Misfortune: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23 (Grappled.)
The mudlord hits Chalkou solidly and Chalkou suddenly finds himself grabbed and pulled closer by one of the Mudlord's arm-like appendages!
Chalkou, on your turn you will need to make either a CMB or Escape Artist check vs. the Mudlord's CMD.
************************************************************************
Lonam? ... delay his action, waiting to channel positive energy as soon as the Mud Lord goes down.
Currently you have no idea when that will be. I am going to grant you a 'heal' check to see what you can figure out, and I'll go ahead and roll that for you.
Lonam's Heal check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
I don't know how? Through your studies of mud puddles maybe? Hahaha! But somehow you can tell the Mudlord appears to be about half as 'healthy' as he used to look. I'll let you take your action now if you wish to, which will change your initiative to block 3 along with the rest of the party, or you can choose to continue delaying to the next round.
CURRENT INITIATIVE:
Lonam {27 of 37 HP} maybe?
Block 3:
Boudacia {Full HP}, Uriel {45 of 48 HP}, Raziel {37 of 38 HP}, Ilyanaro {Full HP} & Chalkou {57 of 67 HP} & Grappled!
Lonam Asri |
my intention was to heal hurt people assuming the mud lord was defeated. so I will delay until the next round. backing out of the mud lord's reach.
The All-Seeing Eye. |

Okay! I knew that was what you said, but just wanted to double-check. So ...
CURRENT INITIATIVE:

Boudacia {Full HP}, Uriel {45 of 48 HP}, Raziel {37 of 38 HP}, Ilyanaro {Full HP} & Chalkou {57 of 67 HP & Grappled!}

Uriel of Mendev |
Uriel, now with his senses a bit more at his command, slashes hard at the Mudlord with his flaming longsword.
Longsword Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Longsword Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 11 + (6) = 20
Maybe I will get lucky and that hits its grappled AC. The last 1d6 is the fire damage)
Boudacia |
Boudacia can see the humour in the situation and continues to Cackle.
Don't knock it, having that thing roll twice on all it's to hits and take the worse is slowing it down quite a bit.
Ilyanaro Balmaris |
"Perhaps this time the magic will pierce!"
Ilyanaro tries his force missile again.
Force Missile: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
SR: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Uriel's longsword slices through the muddy creature easily enough ...
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
hurting it well as far as Uriel can tell.
**************************************************************************
Boudacia, I'm curious. Is it just me or do you seem to be forgetting to use your Fortune hex on party members? I don't know, maybe there's a reason your choosing not to use it? *** And how generous should I be? Do I allow you to use it now since you have not taken a standard action yet? I think I have been being very generous and perhaps it is time to start backing off? Player forgets to use their own ability = DM not responsible for reminding them? Or maybe I should start that policy with level 6 characters (once you all get there.)?
**************************************************************************
Ilya's missile definitely strikes the Mudlord and those close by do hear it 'sizzle' slightly. (Flavor text for low damage roll. You DID overcome the SR!)
**************************************************************************
CURRENT INITIATIVE:
Block 3:
Boudacia {Full HP} (You still have a Standard Action if you want. AHEM.), Uriel {45 of 48 HP} (You still have a Move Action if desired.), Raziel {37 of 38 HP}, Ilyanaro {Full HP} (You still have a Move Action if desired.) & Chalkou {57 of 67 HP} & Grappled! (Escape Artist check or CMB check on your turn to escape the Grapple.)
Uriel of Mendev |
Map is going nuts on my phone. Someone please token assist for a 5 foot step to the east.
At Raziel’s call, Uriel sidesteps to the east, opening a clear line of fire for his attack.
Boudacia |
Boudacia uses the Fortune Hex on Raziel.
Raziel, you have a re-roll.
Fortune (Su)
Effect: The witch can grant a creature within 30 feet a bit of good luck for 1 round. The target can call upon this good luck once per round, allowing him to reroll any ability check, attack roll, saving throw, or skill check, taking the better result. He must decide to use this ability before the first roll is made. At 8th level and 16th level, the duration of this hex is extended by 1 round. Once a creature has benefited from the fortune hex, it cannot benefit from it again for 24 hours.
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Struggling to get away from the sticky, messy, muddy, creature turns out to be more difficult than Chalkou expected. He can't seem to get free of this muddy mess.
So we are just waiting for Raziel currently. Then Lonam, Mud pile, then the 3rd group all over again.
The All-Seeing Eye. |
I hadn't rolled vs SR because I did not know he had SR ;)
Waiting to see if Uriel shifts position, allowing me clear LoS.
If you had read some of the other game posts (like you should have), you would have known about the SR. *** Also, next time that your waiting for someone to move or something like this, if you could please go ahead and say what you are going to do once you do have that LoS, so we don't have to be waiting on you? It would be much appreciated. As it has been well over 24 hrs, I'm going to have to go ahead and bot you, without knowing exactly why you wanted the LoS.
*********************************************************************
Raziel shoots a ray of fire at the Mudlord! Scorching Ray
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Hit.
Overcome Spell resistance?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 Yes.
Damage + 1 for Intense: 4d6 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 1) + 1 = 13
You see pieces of mud hardening and falling to the floor shattering! The Mudlord still stands, but the mud-pile has become quite a bit smaller with each bit of damage it has taken.
Normal damage from Scorching Ray. Flavor text only, with an attempt to indicate that he is a lot less 'healthier' than he was when this all started. *** Also, I chose not to use the Fortune ability granted by Boudacia since I was doing the botting (Not to mention I saw it was all working without it! It will still be available for Raziel's next turn.)
*********************************************************************
CURRENT INITIATIVE:
Top of the round.
Block 1:
Lonam {27 of 37 HP} *** Did you want to use that healing now? I'll allow it. However, If you choose to delay again I am going to say you'll need to re-roll your healing once you do the actual channeling.
Block 2:
Mudlord (Misfortune).
Block 3:
Boudacia {Full HP}, Uriel {45 of 48 HP}, Raziel {37 of 38 HP}, Ilyanaro {Full HP} & Chalkou {57 of 67 HP} & Grappled!
Ilyanaro Balmaris |
Seeing the mud creature still fighting, Ilyanaro sighs and levels his staff.
"You make me waste my magic, monster."
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 5 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) + 5 = 9
SR: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Lonam Asri |
Lonam will channel energy, excluding the Mud Lord!
Healing: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 6, 5) = 20
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Lonam's blast of energy heals all party members back to full health!
***************************************************************
The Mudlord suddenly releases his grasp on Chalkou and then takes 1 swing at Uriel & 1 at Chalkou!
1st attack roll on Uriel (Misfortune): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
2nd attack roll on Uriel (Misfortune): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28
1st attack roll on Chalkou Prone AC (Misfortune): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17 Hit.
2nd attack roll on Chalkou Prone AC (Misfortune): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Uriel manages to Dodge out of the way, but Chalkou is not so lucky ...
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 5) + 3 = 10 Damage to Chalkou.
***************************************************************
Ilya then casts another spell sending some magic missiles at the Mudlord ...
But they sizzle out as they strike. You almost had it!

Longsword Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Longsword Damage: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 11 + (2) = 17
Boudacia |
Boudacia uses the Fortune Hex on Chalkou then Cackles.
Chalkou, you have a re-roll.
Boudacia |
Chalkou, I told you you have a re-roll. You were not listening were you? :(
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Hold up. I'm showing my AC as 19. Did I forget a -2 somewhere?
Chalkou steps back to get room, then stabs at the mudlord with his spear.
[dice=Attack]1d20+13
[dice=Damage]1d8+11
If you'll look again at that post I did specify it was an attack against your PRONE AC, so YES, you missed a - 4 to your AC. Which means you also cannot just step back. You'll need to adjust you post to either stand up (possibly provoking an AoO) or something else (Keeping in mind you're PRONE!). *** By the way, due to my busy work schedule, I already gave you a LOT more than 24 hrs without botting you. I have to work today (Friday) but off on Saturday, so will give you 24 hrs to respond or be botted. And don't forget Boudacia's Fortune. EDIT: I also sent you a PM.
The All-Seeing Eye. |
My apologies again for the delay. I know, I have been apologizing for my delays a lot lately. I am getting better adjusted (I think?) and will get better. Please bare with me. Thank you all for your patience & understanding. *** If you have not done so yet, please see my last TWO posts in Discussion.
*******************************************************************
Chalkou having observed the wisdom Uriel showed in standing up slowly and carefully, decides that does seem the safer course of action.
Standard action full defense, move action to stand. He'll use the Fortune on his next turn - assuming Boudacia continues cackling.
The Mudlord however currently seems to be more preoccupied with the metal shell swinging the sword at him and ignores Chalkou.
******************************
Raziel, figuring he does more damage when his presence is not noticed, decides to cast Vanish upon himself, and disappears from view.

Uriel splashes around in the mud with his sword, to no avail. ;-)

Lonam has realized not having a magical weapon is a disadvantage and casts Spiritual Weapon. Lonam directs his Spiritual "Morningstar" to attack the Mud Lord. (SR is a factor)
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
( dealing 1d8 force damage per hit, + 1 point per three caster levels)

... Lonam directs his Spiritual "Morningstar" to attack the Mud Lord. (SR is a factor) ...
So perhaps you should have rolled a Spell Resistance check? ;-) I shall do that for you.
Lonam's Spell Resistance check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Lonam's glowing morning star appears in mid air and swings at the Mudlord, but it doesn't even manage to make a muddy splash, missing it completely.
********************************************************************
The Mudlord then proceeds to take one swing each at Chalkou & Uriel ...
1st Attack roll on Chalkou (Misfortune): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
2nd Attack roll on Chalkou (Misfortune): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

********************************************************************
Just a reminder - today is my tabletop game, so I'm not very available for the afternoon.
Lonam Asri |
Sorry, Uriel sent me a message about spell penetration and I'd forgotten that.
Uriel of Mendev |
Staggering at the heavy blow, Uriel grits his teeth and swings again!
Longsword Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Longsword plus fire damage: 1d8 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 11 + (1) = 17
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Uriel's Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Uriel believes his sword hurts the Mudlord badly, but does not realize it does considerably less damage.
Chalkou then takes a step back to have space to maneuver longspear, and takes a swing at the Mudlord ...
Chalkou's 1st attack roll (Fortune.): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Chalkou's 2nd attack roll (Fortune.): 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
and strikes deeply into his body!
Damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
And the Mudlord suddenly starts falling into several smaller piles of mud and then disappears completely.
Out of Initiative!
Ilyanaro Balmaris |
"That was rather unpleasant. If this whole area is filled with creatures that resistant to both physical attacks and magic, we are at a serious disadvantage."
Ilyanaro casts detect magic and scans the area for treasure.
Uriel of Mendev |
Dripping mud, Uriel lets out a sigh of relief as the mud monster falls, letting the flames die on his arms.
"That was a...confusing...fight," he remarks, "Raziel, if you would, please check out the door it was guarding," he adds, indicating the door to the west. Uriel then goes to the submerged passage back the way they came and attempts to wash off some of the mud in which he is encased.
Lonam Asri |
"Shall I heal you?" looks to Chalkou and to Uriel both, with concern for their wounds.
Uriel of Mendev |
Uriel comes up out of the water, dripping wet but mostly cleansed of mud, just in time to hear Lonam’s question. Considering for a moment, Uriel remarks, ”Some minor healing would be welcome, Lonam. Thank you.”
Once the healing is done, Uriel positions himself in front of the western door and waits for Ilyanaro to finish his search and Raziel to finish checking on the door. When they are done, he nods to the others to see if they are ready, then opens the door.
The All-Seeing Eye. |
Ilya detects nothing else in the room, other than another water portal on the southern wall, though it is not allowing any water to come into this room ... ???
Treasure = see post I will be making in Discussion.
Raziel in the meantime searches the door ...
Perception + 1 for traps: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 1 = 15
and he declares the door to be free of traps.
Since I know ...
Uriel opens the door in the western wall to find an old storage closet with nothing but rotted junk in it now.
Upon further investigation, the door in the eastern wall is slightly jammed, but you are able to open it easily enough if you wish. Raziel finds no traps there either.
Just speeding up the tedious process a bit. :-D
