It really has been a long time since our characters have rested, hasn't it? Alathea has enough weaves to go around, but I keep watching the numbers dwindle and think "when did she last sleep?!?".

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

Yeah, I think Litheene can count her weaves on one hand at this point. And the last time of rest was in a small town near Tar Valon, long before the laboratory, yet alone the current plot.

Here's a pic of me from last summer. Also bereft of any epic facial topography. I think this one was an accidental selfy, as it was sunny and I couldn't make out the screen. I was actually out sailing in a viking longboat here, though it was admittedly a small one. I was on a vacation in Denmark and went out to a viking seafaring museum. This and some other aspects were a lot of fun. History is a major interest for me.

I'm Canadian, and live in the western Canada; far from anyone who has anything like what American's generally consider a Canadian accent (that's actually more of a rural Ontario accent than anything you'll here elsewhere in the country). I'm a therapist that consults to psychiatric units; specializing in that subset of treatment called Dual Diagnosis or Concurrent Disorders: mentally ill folk who also happen to have substance abuse/addiction issues. If you want the real dirt on what drugs do what the brain (or psyche) feel free to ask.

Other than that, mid thirties, married, kids, a dog, two cats...

OK, now I am curious. How many people here got Psychology degrees, or work in a related field? I got one, and the only two others to mention something (Rizzen, Rhoekk) apparently do too.

On a short note to those who didn't bother finding the LinkedIn: Living in the UK (past residence: Russia, Israel), late twenties, Masters brains science, BSc Computer science and psychology. Tech entrepreneur with a few successful ventures,(and one exit), and currently working for Amazon. Side interests and hobbies: anything biology or medicine related (autodidact in bio medical science). Married (sort of) + cat.

i hung out with someone who had a degree in psychology. i dont have one.

for me, i live in the great state of Wisconsin, in the USA. (basically i am about 2 hours north of Chicago). i am in my mid 30s, i have been married for 9 years. i have a set of twins, boy and girl. I spent 4 years in the US Army, and did a tour in Iraq (i even started a short lived star wars movie club while there). i work as a PC tech at a plastics molding company, but i have done pretty much everything within the world of IT. I find virtual environments to be very interesting and am pursuing certifications in this field. I am a year away from earning my degree in information systems. I am looking at pursuing a masters in IT management. I am also a politician, having been elected as a city alderman for my city.
I also like to hunt, fish, trap, camp, hike and just recently got my amateur radio license, so i can now start talking to people around the world without needing a phone.

I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Counseling. I went the other way for a career though as I have an MBA in Finance and a Law Degree with a focus on Corporate and Tax Law. Currently I practice (ah the "practice" of law cause no one ever seems to get this law thing right!) as a Tax Attorney specializing in Tax Controversy and State and Local Tax Law though I do a bit of everything as the job calls for. I am in my late 30's with a wife, a baby, and two great danes. Have lived and gone to school in New Jersey my entire life. My side interests include RPG's, weightlifting and spending time with my kid and my dogs. I was trying to write a book but life got too busy so I had to put that on the back burner (for now). I would love to be more active but time is short and my wife hates the outdoors so it makes such a prospect difficult at best!

If I get around to it I will load a pic :-)

No psych here...

My boring life:
I've been a professional musician since my teens, have scraped a BA in Lit/Soc/Phil, grad studies mainly in journalism, worked all sorts of jobs along the way (from high school teacher to taxi driver), now a freelance musician, journalist, and copywriter. Hoping to do my Masters in International Relations next year with twin focuses on diplomacy and security. I have been married (no longer) and have a daughter and a step-son, both awesome. Mid-thirties, though I look much older with a beard and much younger without one :) I've always lived in Australia (it's a big country, but I've seen most of it), though I hope to change that in the intermediate future. Interests include literature, languages, sports (playing and watching), poker, word puzzles (particularly cryptic crosswords), salsa dancing, and harmonica. And wine.

And it also seems that I like talking about myself....

Dang straight. Don't forget that they also measure your relative wealth and access to education. People put a lot too much weight in arbitrary pieces of paper. Having done the school thing myself, I am all too aware of how much of it was jumping through hoops just to meet an arbitrary number of credits and requirements, just to get my glossy scroll.

I second that as well, having gone the education path.
Education is first of all fun (or was for me). It is also a "badge of withstanding". The Computer science degree doesn't really help one much for example, aside to show a potential employer that you managed to withstand it's trials. It more of a modern initiation test to certain guild benefits, than measure of intelligence or source of thereof.

tweaks to noble

as zira mentioned, being a noble by itself sucks. not a whole lot to be done, just a glorified bard.

well, i took some stuff from the pathfinder bard class and adding it to the noble class.

the resources from the UTDB will take affect over the "call in a favor" shown in the wotrpg book.

noble knowledge: as like bardic knowledge, nobles have greater access to books, and may have read a plethora of topics to help them learn to be better, or worse, nobles. THis allows nobles to make all knowledge checks untrained, and can add 1/2 his/her noble level to said checks.

inspire confidence: as per the bard rule but with a minor tweak. The increase in bonus applied to those listening will be +1 every 5 levels. so at level 15, the noble can apply a +4 unnamed bonus to those listening. this effect lasts as long as the noble speaks, but should he stop speaking, the effects will last the noble level+charisma modifer in rounds. The noble cannot use inspire confidence and instill fear within the same combat.

instill fear and doubt: the reverse of the bard rule. the noble has the ability to demand attention to himself, even in the heart of combat. with this attention, he is able to cast doubt upon his opponents, making them second guess their cause. perhaps he points out the infallacy of it all, perhaps he offers money. either way, his speech saps the will of those he and his army is fighting. this ability affects up to 2x the nobles HD in creatures if they are 4HD or more less than him, if less than 3hd or up to 3HD more he affects his HD in creatures. If 4HD or more above his HD, he affects 1/2 his HD in creatures. all creatures listening are allowed a Will save DC= to noble level plus charisma modifier plus 10. The noble cannot use instill fear and instill courage in the same combat.

inspire greatness: as per the bard special ability

inspire compteance: as per the bard special ability.

Weapon of Light
[Air, Earth, Fire, Spirit, Water]
Level: 6 - 9
Range: Personal
Duration: 1 round / weave level
Saving throw: None
Weave resistance: None

Through the One Power, you call out to the eternal Light to help you in your battle against the Dark One and its machinations - and the Light responds, allowing you to shape its radiance in the form of a weapon.
The weapon can take any form you desire, though normal weapon proficiencies apply. (For instance, to wield a longsword-shaped weapon without penalties, you need to be proficient with longswords; to wield an Aiel shortspear-shaped weapon, you need to be proficient with Aiel shortspears.)

The damage the weapon deals depends not on its shape, but on the power of its wielder and the nature of the target. Creatures heavily tainted by the Shadow, such as Shadowspawn or the Forsaken, suffer greatly. Creatures which have not known the direct touch of the Dark One and do not owe their lives to the twisted work of the True Power, suffer far less.

Attack rolls wielding a Weapon of the Light are calculated normally, as they would be if the wielder were holding a more mundane weapon; the Weapon Focus feat, Flame and the Void and other modifiers apply as normal.
Damage, however, is not resolved normally. The Weapon's damage is resolved according to the table below and does not benefit from a high Strength or Wisdom score.
If a Weapon of the Light is used for a ranged attack, the Weapon will serve, but it dissipates after having struck and damaged the target - or missed, as the case may be.
It is possible to hand a Weapon of the Light over to an ally; the Weapon remains active for its natural duration. The Weapon does not change its form, nor increase or decrease its power, in relation to its current wielder's level; these variables are determined when the Weapon is first brought into being.

It is possible, under the right circumstances, to use a Weapon of the Light to attack and unravel weaves and manifestations of the True Power. In order to use the Weapon of the Light in this manner, the wielder must first be aware of such a manifestation, for example when witnessing the 'black cables' which symbolize a Forsaken's connection to the Dark One in the dark space between the threads of the Pattern. At such a time, the wielder of the Weapon of the Light can make an attack upon these manifestations of the True Power at their normal attack bonus. Provided the attack strikes, the wielder must then roll an opposed caster level check against the creature either wielding or subject of the True Power-manifestation, with a bonus to their roll equal to the level of the Weapon of the Light. Provided the wielder beats their opponent's caster level, the True Power-manifestation is then unraveled completely.

Damage vs Untouched (Those not directly touched by the Shadow)

Level 6 - 1d4 / 4 levels + channeler level

Level 7 - 1d6 / 4 levels + channeler level

Level 8 - 1d8 / 4 levels + channeler level

Level 9 - 1d10 / 4 levels + channeler level

Damage vs Touched (Those directly touched by the Shadow)

Level 6 - 1d4 / 2 levels + channeler level

Level 7 - 1d6 / 2 levels + channeler level

Level 8 - 1d8 / 2 levels + channeler level

Level 9 - 1d10 / 2 levels + channeler level

* * * * * * *
How's this?

I have other ideas, too. Icy Weapon is a variant on the good ole sword of fire. Stormfather's Kiss plays off the black lightning Ba'alzamon uses against Moiraine in the Stone of Tear...
... and it's a True Power-only weave.
