I knew seanchan are not a very likable people in the WoT books. Hence the choice. If i play her, like i am. A tolerable one, one that is not like most. But still have a seanchan nobel feel, with her collared channeler, how would it be like. She has a lot of abilities that can benefit the party. So i built her to compliment the group. I knew it would be a while before ahe can hopefully join

Rizzen, since I will eventually talk to Amorial and probably others, about the Gardeners and their ways, can I pretty much write the culture and history, since they are probably the least explored group of people in the books?
(So long as it is keeping in the fashion and tradition of the world of WoT)
Ryvin Altessar
Who says they did? *shrugs* The Gardeners away from the Seanchan homeland might be like suicide troops, so dedicated to service that they accept their eventual death. Or possibly they expected to move into local stedding.
Or maybe the Gardeners' ancestors clung stubbornly to their stedding instead of running, making the best of it every day again, until finally the land settled down. They'd never have experienced the Longing or the lack.
Rhoekk of the Tardaad Aiel
I don't recall ever hearing that they didn't experience the longing. If the books ever mention it, I must have missed that detail. The WoT wiki doesn't mention it either.
I had always assumed that they were rotated out of the guard and back to the stedding periodically while serving in Seanchan, and that the assumption on going abroad would be that they would find stedding there to rest in. As they have plenty of histories dating from the time of Arthur Hawkwing, they would be perfectly familiar with the fact that stedding existed there.
Also, keep in mind that Ogier are supposed to be able to spend 2-5 years away from the stedding before the longing kicks in. To that end, I had assumed that the Ogier had gone with the army across the sea to look for stedding, and not that they were found there.
Litheene
I do think I read in the books (I think?) that stedding were much more rare in Seanchan, and the Ogier there somehow adjusted to leaving them ...
Or maybe that they really have no longing ...
This whole point is a bit efy, and their behavior differs a from typical Ogier one, so it's possible.
But without mention I would assume like you two did - that they simple rotate and use the ability to stay away for a few years at a time.

Just found a pretty cool artist's depiction of a Gardener: link
Looks like it's by Seamas Gallagher, who was an artist on the comics.
Chen Armand
I had an Idea that pretty much due to the rarity of stedding in Seachan, the original Ogier who crossed, many of them may have died from the longing before stedding were found, leaving only the bloodlines that were resistant to the longing, and able to stay away for far greater time periods then Ogier who spent most of their lives in the steddings.
Also based on the feat Ogier can take that basically makes them a moving stedding, I sort of felt like a Gardener may never need to go back or only every 10 years or so.

The first thing that crossed my mind? 'This is what happens if a sumo wrestler becomes a samurai somehow'.

There were probably Ogier there to begin with, aside from those crossing. I actually doubt that Hawkwing's army originally came with Ogiers. After the breaking they might have found themselves short of steddings, and thus led to what you said, only giving them thrice the time for "breeding out" those who suffered the longing.

Zira, this path won't result in harm to you at all. I'm trying to write a way for Chen to "throw his lot in" with the party.
This revelation was how I originally planned it when I created this character.
Litheene
In the books Toun did cope with the knowledge that Suldam are capable of channeling, took her time but she did.
You can choose her answer, even if you fail, or another one. Or you can forgo the whole thing, but I am curious how Chen will react to this.
Zira Mitsobar
I understand
But its not gonna happen willingly. From my point of view:
Please give us X - okay....
Sorry, not enough, now we want Y too - really? Sigh... okay
Now we have X and Y, might as well give us Z too - no deal

Litheene
The test? It's not part of the deal, neither I nor any of the of our side demand it, it's Chen. Also, Litheene did not go back on her deal. Others were not part of it.
The test is because Rhoekk brought up the issue, and since Litheene considers it one of the core wrongs of Seanchan culture, it was expected for her to pick it up. I didn't expect Chen to demand it, I (IC) was planning to preach it to Zira in privet to weaken her resolve for Seanchan.
From Zira's IC perspective, (assuming she doesn't know about this), it should be ridiculous to think she'll fail, so no real concession.
Fiallain
Yeah. Poor Zira is in an awful spot. There wasn't much I could do to help you out and remain in character either. Though I will say, from Fia's point of view it was always 'give us x, y, & z'... all three from the very beginning.
Which is not to say that was seen from Zira's position, particularly when negotiating with so many 'chiefs' and factions. Anyway, break's over, back to work!
Chen Armand
I totally get that. And I enjoy your character's strong stance and your ability to keep a firm line between IC and OOC.
For Chen however, your point of view no longer matters, this is and existential question that must be answered. The core of Chen's Id (or was it ego? It's been awhile since psych class) depends on the answer to this question.
Otherwise, the Blood and the Empress have lied to him and over the course of his nearly 200 years he would have been responsible for personally killing hundreds of innocent girls.
Chen Armand
Most Damane belong to the empress, whom the gardener's serve. And when you have lots of pets, some need to be put down.
Also, it(The Test) would truly victimize(the damane) and mark morally wrong, the methods of brainwashing used on the damane. And since there is infighting among the Seachan(from what I can tell from the books, it has not always been a super peaceful place) during which he would have possibly killed opposing force's damane, who are the victims here.

From what I got, Seanchan try very hard to take Damane alive, and go to extreme length to keep them alive afterwards. If they were enemy soldiers, they are not totally @innocent@ from your perspective.

What did u expect her to do? Roll over and be submissive? ;)

Damn, that was a sweet exchange. I literally got chills reading that. Like literally literal, and not just figuratively literal. Zira's last line fell into place there like a well honed movie script. Beautiful.

my face when i read zira's dismissal of Chen.
i remember reading somewhere that there are more steddings in the seanchan lands, thus allowing the ogier there to not succumb to the longing. this was more prolific during the Breaking, where those in the westlands found fewer and fewer steddings to retreat to.
Litheene
Maybe you are right and I mixed it up, thus they wouldn't have had the longing to begin with.
Those two short messages between them evoked more in me than a few messages in a long while, great stuff.
P.S. Is that your actual pic?
P.S. LFMAO at Rhoekk's comment.

There we go, I fixed it: Rizzengimli

I was considering sharing personal info before, but didn't want to pressure anyone.
I will start with a rather simple fact, which I have no idea how common:
I am male OOC.
As for a picture, I will use my favorite pic, which will introduce me OOC in general if you choose to Google it (Ernest):
Nice to meet you

I seem to remember we did the intro and such a few years back, but then as we were just recently discussing, very few of the original crew are around anymore...
Here's a pic of me from last summer. Also bereft of any epic facial topography. I think this one was an accidental selfy, as it was sunny and I couldn't make out the screen. I was actually out sailing in a viking longboat here, though it was admittedly a small one. I was on a vacation in Denmark and went out to a viking seafaring museum. This and some other aspects were a lot of fun. History is a major interest for me.
I'm Canadian, and live in the western Canada; far from anyone who has anything like what American's generally consider a Canadian accent (that's actually more of a rural Ontario accent than anything you'll here elsewhere in the country). I'm a therapist that consults to psychiatric units; specializing in that subset of treatment called Dual Diagnosis or Concurrent Disorders: mentally ill folk who also happen to have substance abuse/addiction issues. If you want the real dirt on what drugs do what the brain (or psyche) feel free to ask.
Other than that, mid thirties, married, kids, a dog, two cats...
Rhoekk of the Tardaad Aiel
I must also add, that is an extraordinarily awesome beard. I have recently left the bearded brotherhood, and now feel somewhat unmanly even in your online presence.
*Shuffles off to consider the empty wasteland that is my beardless life...
It is pretty awesome. And the best thing about redheads is that as you get older, it will probably go white as opposed to grey, and will go on being just as epic as it will the the sweetest wizard beard ever!
Fiallain
As tempting as Tel'aran'rhiod would be... Fia nearly burned herself out however many days ago and has been running constant every second since. Exhausted is an understatement. She is definitely just sleeping atm.
Plus, I have been playing her for over a year in real world time without access to the one power. Granted, some of that was break time, but I want it back lol!
That said, I do want to get to the dream world at some point soon.
