OOC:

Actually combat has not begun, the guards are unaware. the reason I started Initiative was so we can better track actions and the guards would get appropriate checks against stealth. Also with the guard carrying the torch it might compromise the low light in your current area rather quickly once he moves into the cellblock. I automatically placed the guard at the very bottom of initiative since they have no clue, so when the group decides to act they will get a round of full round actions before the guards go in lieu of a surprise round which only allows a standard or a move. From your current position you can only see the guard that is about to enter the cellblock. The Doctor has a better vantage point and can actually see the other three sitting around a table in the center of the room.

OOC:

Are people where they are supposed to be/intend to be? I thought that the rest of the party was in the cell to the right of where I am, U1, U2, V1, V2. My understanding was to get the guard past the entrance to the cell that they are hiding in and get him close to the cell I am in so that I can have a chat with him to distract him. This will hopefully allow the others to quietly move south to the now open door to the guardroom.

Also, I figured that Hecate would be in the cell to the south so that she can move to the bars and cast any necessary spell through the door to the guardroom in order to affect those within.

I am just asking this as where they are currently, unless the guard is unconscious drunk, he is going to see them even with the best stealth roll.

Felrin waits until the guard moves a few paces into the hall, then moves quickly around the corner and toward the door. When he reaches the guard, he slashes viciously at him with his long, bony fingers, which seem to have grown jagged nails as if in anticipation of violence.

Mechanics:

Wait until guard reaches V15 or W15, then act. Move action to get to V14, standard action to attack.

Claw Attack vs flat-footed AC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

As the plan is set into motion to the best of their ability, especially considering these men and women did not even know each other until just recently, Erevan stands ready to do his part. Once the torch-bearing guard is dealt with, he wastes no time, rushing into the room where the other two are stationed, Hecate's magical protection bolstering his confidence.

Delay until after Ottakar's turn. Then run into the guardroom as per Hecate's suggestion in the OOC thread. If it takes a double move action to reach and enter the room, so be it; if, however, a single move action is enough to not only get in the room, but also get within melee range of a guard, then here is the attack Erevan will be taking as a standard action.

Melee attack (dagger): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

As soon as she hears the first blow land, Tkaara groans, knowing that the plan had gone awry. She quickly drops the fake locked manacles and moves out the cell door, calling to Grumblejack as she does.

Wait, was there a reason Felrin stopped at V14? If you went to U or V 15 I could make it in to a flanking position. Never too early to practice good tactics. :)

Male Ogre

Eyeing the skinny woman leaving her cell he immediately reacts when he is called, ripping his powerful legs free of his ankle shackles and heading clumsily for the cell door. Opening it and trailing after the pretty lady as fast as his feet can carry him.

Puny human woman, too skinny, but have pretty face. Grumblejack thinks to himself just for a moment before mouthing a toothy grin.

"GRUMBLEJACK SMASH!!!!!"

OOC:

Grumblejack will follow Tkaara to the best of his abilities. If any guards come within range he will smash for all he is worth.

Mechanics:

Round 1 Results (partial)
This covers Felrin and Tkaara only. Waiting for moves to be posted from Etna, Doctor and Hecate before continuing with the round.

Felrin waits for the lone guard to come through the guardroom door like a wild animal stalking its prey. Both cold and calculating. As the unaware guard passes through the door and turns to head into the cellblock Felrin strikes by springing at him like a beast in the night. Both hoping to muffle him quickly and make as little noise as possible. The look on the guards face is that of horror as Felrin's jagged nails pierce into his chest. The claw driving deep as a spurt of blood lands across Felrin's lips. He had yet to make a sound but had not expired as quickly as Felrin would have hoped.

After the blow is delivered Tkaara jumps into action. No longer wanting to keep the ruse up as she rushes from her cell calling Grumblejack to her.

OOC:

Figured everyone was holding until Felrin initiated the attack on the guard, I moved him to the top of the order.

Hecate flinches at the organic sounds as the others tear into the guard; her stomach churns and her face goes the sort of colour that would make Tkaara look healthy by comparison. Gritting her teeth, she wills herself to concentrate: she has a part to play here.

Stepping forward so that she is facing the bars, the young woman flickers - and vanishes, reappearing on the other side of the cell. She shivers with pleasure as she re-materialises, but the sight facing her quickly makes her re-focus.

Beyond Felrin, she can just make out the back of one guard's head, sitting at the table. With fumbling fingers she reaches for the rose petals in her spell component pouch - where've they gone?! Oh yes, they're here, where she has always kept them. Stupid. Muttering under her breath, she tosses the petals into the air, flexing the fingers of her hands just so...

The air around the guard suddenly becomes heavy, hazy, thrumming with a lulling sound just on the edge of hearing - sleep, slumber, close your eyelids, - over and over again. Hecate watches as the hazy air spreads into a small cloud, surrounding the guard and his companions around the table.

Mechanics:
5 ft step from S11 to T12; swift action to Shift (7 uses remaining today) to U13; from U13 I can see the guard at W19 (Felrin doesn't obscure - I checked!); cast Sleep (full-round action): 10 ft radius burst centred on the guard at W19, catches him and both his colleagues at U20 and Y20. Will save DC 16 to resist, or fall asleep for 1 minute. Up to 4 HD total are affected.

Etna stiffens as he hears Felrin engage the guard: she had never fought anyone, and surely never murdered someone to get out of prison. She's mildly comforted by the fact that she isn't the only one to feel like this, judging from the color of Hecate's face.

Dropping the illusion she had prepared in the cell, she slips out of the room, moving toward the corridor. "If one of the guards picks the horn, could you wish for him to drop it?" she whispers as she passes near Erevan and Tkaara.

Now having a clear view of the guardroom, she prepares to stop the guard that will pick up the horn.

OOC and Mechanics:
Speaking should be a free action that can be used on someone else turn, if I'm not mistaken, so Tkaara or Erevan can wish something even after they acted.

Hecate:
Er, you know spells with a full round casting time take effect the following round? From the SRD:
Quote:
It comes into effect just before the beginning of your turn in the round after you began casting the spell. You then act normally after the spell is completed.

I don't think you have to pick the targeted area until the spell goes off, which is good because otherwise they can simply move.

OOC:
Going to go ahead and post; if Felrin edits positioning to allow for flank, just add two to the attack roll.

The Doctor crouches, waiting, eyes glinting strangely golden in the reflected torchlight. Interesting. This will be the first person I plan to kill for reasons other than self-defense or research, or while possessed by the Beast. As Felrin explodes into action, time seems almost to slow. He is already turning the corner himself as he vaguely hears Tkaara's shout and the guard's startled grunt of pain. I must keep the man from crying out. Pierce the lungs perhaps, or... He rushes up behind the unlucky man and lashes out savagely, yet precisely, aiming for the man's throat.

Mechanics:

Move action to X-15, standard action to attack.

OOC:
Erevan should be able to reach the stairs in the guardroom if he double-moves and ends up at S20. So, as far as the previous post and his action this round is concerned let me make it a bit more specific now that I can see the guardroom: double-move as full-round action to S20.

As Grumblejack begins to shout in joy, Tkaara puts her finger to her silverish lips.
Quiet for now big man. Smashing comes soon.

When she gets close to Etna, Tkaara grins:
Oh, I definitely wish that those useless guards never have a chance to blow any horn.

OOC:
Hmm, I think I've got this wrong: when DM Asmodeus said we get a full-round action before the guards, I read it as we get to act this round and they don't, with normal initiative then being resumed next round - in which case I'd have been fine casting Sleep, as they wouldn't act at all before it hit them. Having re-read it in light of Ottakar's comments, it looks like they act as normal this round, just at the end - which means that they will get an action in before the spell hits.

tl;dr: can I cast Daze (DC 15, on the guard with the horn) instead of Sleep?

Round 1 Results (final)

Etan drops the illusion in the other cell and quickly makes her way into the corridor behind Felrin, she can clearly see the guard in the hallway and two of the three guards in the room, she quickly scans and see's the signal horn sitting on the table and cast grease on it immediately. As the item is currently unwielded the grease can quickly be seen covering the item as if a stick of butter was being rubbed on it.

The doctor quickly makes his move on the wounded guard still in shock from the attack from Felrin, as with the skilled precision of a physician with a scalpel, the doctors approach is both quick and exact, the glint of the light off the blade as it finds the guards larynx and sinks deep within causing the guard to make a gurgling sound as he chokes on his own blood and falls to the ground. His body twitching as he struggles but a few more seconds and is silent. The torch rolls from his hand onto the stone floor.

Erevan quickly and swiftly runs through the guard room to take up a position at the stairs to block any retreat a guard might make.

Grumblejack makes it out of his cell and takes up a position following Tkaara.

Hecate moves over and shifts through the cell bars in almost a blink as if the bars were not there. She ends up right behind Etna, she sees the signal horn and the guard that is seated front of it and quickly reaches in her pouch for a bit of wool. With a few hand gestures and arcane words she attempts to stop the horn from being blown.

The guard next to Erevan is struck with sudden surprise as he sees Erevan run up next to him, he jumps up out of the chair which leaves an opening for Erevan who quickly slices his dagger at the surprised guard cutting a huge gash into his arm. The guard in turn seeing the dagger opts to draw his longsword instead of his club and screams for the other guard to blow the horn. He then brings the longsword down toward Erevan as the blow heads straight for Erevan's head and then is deflected at the last minute by the invisible barrier around the slayer.

The other guard that sat in the middle of the table with his back turned to the cellblock sees Erevan run past, he rises from the table and draws his longsword as well moving toward Erevan to help his comrade in arms.

The remaining guard that sits on the end with the signal horn in front of him just sits there as if confused, the other guards are yelling for him to blow the horn but he doesn't budge as a glazed look covers his face.

Round 2 starts now. Everyone is up. Good Job.

Something primal deep within the Doctor exults at the hot splash of blood splashing from the guard's throat, but he ignores it, knowing the fight is far from over, and continues with the task at hand. Shuddering, doing her best not to even look at the corpse of the guard (although his dying gurgle will stay with her for quite some time), Hecate approaches the guardroom. She can see the horn is lying unattended on the table; the guard she dazed will recover soon.

Move to V16, cast Mage Hand (standard action). If the ceiling is high enough, I want to move the horn straight up so that it's out of reach. Otherwise I want to move it towards me and away from the guards. Not sure how being covered in grease affects this spell, but I'm rolling anyway just in case:

Well Grumblejack, it seems the party started without us.

She then moves to the fallen guard and picks up the padded club that he had been carrying.
Better than nothing, although not much.

As she takes the club, she sees the blood flowing freely from the massive slash in the guard's throat. Seeing this causes a strange stirring within Tkaara, almost like a longing for something. However, as soon as she takes the club and stands once more, this odd urge is gone.

Round 2 Results (final)
Felrin exults as the guard he clawed is finished off by the doctor's blade. His hunger for revenge whetted by this first, quick taste, Felrin moves quickly into the guardroom, his claws dripping blood as he moves. Entering the room, he stops to strike at the first guard he comes upon. Striking out with his claw at the guard. However now that the guard is on his feet, years of training now show as the guard easily sidesteps the incoming attack.

Tkaara moves to the fallen guard and picks up the padded club that he had been carrying.

Advancing to the side of the guardroom's entrance, Etna materializes a little greenish orb in her hand, hurling the orb at the stunned guard. The orb of acid barely misses her target as it sizzles into the wall of the guardroom next to the unlit fireplace.

The doctor moves to attack the guard seated in front of the greased horn. Bringing his dagger down upon his target but the blow glances off the guards armor and fails to penetrate.

Erevan spares a moment or two to better study his foe, the way he stands and the way he holds his sword, before bringing his dagger in an upward strike, the blade burying itself deeply in the guard's abdomen. The guard surprised by the efficiency of the slayer's blow coughs up blood as he crumbles at Erevan's feet.

Grumblejack comes clumsily and loudly into the guardroom and looks around for a weapon.

Hecate approaches the guardroom, the young woman points at the signal horn and utters a word of command - the horn starts to move, as if an invisible hand has grasped it. Moving up toward the ceiling and out of reach.

The guard standing between Erevan and Felrin shifts around to break the flank as he continues to focus on Erevan who is blocking the stairs. Swinging his longsword again but this time Erevan was ready and simply dodges the blow entirely.

The seated guard comes out of his haze and rises from his chair but the doctor and Grumblejack are ready. The doctor brings down the dagger once again and drives it deeply into the guards chest as he cries out in pain. Grumblejack follows with a mighty fist directly to the guards face. The blow is too much for him and the guard flies over the back of his chair being clearly knocked unconscious by the ogre.

Round 3 starts now. Everyone is up. What a cakewalk.

Round 3
Although feeling drained by her ordeals, or is it the wonderful medicine, Tkaara moves into the room with her new padded weapon. First going south and then following the wall to come up behind the guard. Once she arrives, she hefts the weapon in two hands and swings it at the injured guard hoping to drop him before any alarm is raised.

Assuming the 20 hits.
Despite appearing frail and emaciated, the pale woman proves that she can pack as much of a punch as the men. The padded club comes down with a dull thunk on the head of the guard. Seconds later all he sees is birds, or are they cards, twirling about his head as his vision fades to black. At least I hope that is enough damage to drop him.

Better keep that in mind… He looks around and says, ”Quiet, everyone!” then listens closely to see if the brief, brutal battle has attracted attention from anyone downstairs. We are still assuming that the last guard is down, although with the damage he took, I think that it is a fairly good assumption.

Hearing the Doctor's comment, Tkaara smiles. A cold smile that would bring chills to most people's spines and cause children to run.

I might be able to assist with the information gathering. I assume that you do not want to play nice. She looks at Etna as she says this.

Tkaara looks to the doctor.
Mind if I borrow your dagger. It might be more useful for questioning than this padded club. She pauses and thinks for a moment. Oh, and Doctor. Any chance you know enough about healing to bring this one back awake. It is real hard to question people when they are asleep.

Round 3 Results (final)
Felrin steps up to the last guard still standing, slashing at him with both clawed hands. His first strike rakes across the guards armor but does not penetrate however his second strike drives deep into the ribcage of the guard in an unprotected area on his side.

Despite appearing frail and emaciated, the pale woman known as Tkaara proves that she can pack as much of a punch as the men. The padded club comes down with a dull thunk on the head of the guard. Seconds later all he sees is birds, or are they cards, twirling about his head as his vision fades to black and he falls at her feet.

The next fifteen minutes are a bustle of activity as the group strips the four guards of their belongings and lays them out on the table to take stock of what they have found. There is four medium sized chain shirts, four heavy steel shields, four longswords, three leather clubs, four longbows, 80 arrows, 10 torches, a signal horn, a set of keys on an iron keyring and a single key marked with the number nine on it.

After gathering the gear on the table they take note of their surroundings.

This is a small guard room and the landing for the stairs from the floor below. It is lit by a few sconces holding torches. There are two doors – one leading to the cellblock and the other connecting to the room that the doctor was led into earlier to meet with the strange woman. Otherwise, this chamber is plain with little furnishings save for a table and four chairs. The fireplace here is a relic of the old castle great hall. It is almost comically large. The fireplace is currently unlit and doesn't appear to have been in a long time.

Two of the four guards are still alive but are unconcious at the moment.

Male Ogre

Looking around the guardroom now Grumblejack seems confused at first All the lil 'uns are down already. Grumblejack make promise, Grumblejack keep promise.

"Grumblejack hurt. Not feel so good."

He looks down at one of the unconscious guards. "Grumblejack make guard promise. Grumblejack now keep promise."

He reaches down and picks up the arm of the guard and places his foot against the guards armpit and with a couple tugs rips the arm from the unconscious guard. He then rather quickly rips the flesh from the bone with his teeth and devours the meat in under a minute.

Having cleaned the flesh from the bone, Grumblejack snaps off the hand bones and snaps the other two bones in half and begins to band them together with pieces of the guards uniform.

"Grumblejack make promise to eat lil'uns for keeping Grumblejack in cage. Now Grumblejack make club from bones."

Smiling in a bloody toothy mess now Grumblejack sits down by the now deceased guard and continues his meal. It is amazing how fast he rips their flesh and devours his prey in huge chunks.

He looks up at Tkaara and offers her a piece of the meal with a gesture as she looks on. "Grumblejack share with pretty lady."

Pretty lady look like she need to eat. Grumblejack feed her.

Only one unconscious guard remains.

Hecate is torn between revulsion and fascination watching Grumblejack eat. So that's an ogre, is it? I thought they were taller... She shrugs. She's in the company of two humans who can see in the dark and a shape-shifting fiend spawn; she's not really in a position to complain about a short ogre.

Nevertheless, Hecate regards him closely, to see if she can see anything obviously out of the ordinary. "Does anyone have healing magic? He looks a bit battered. Did the guards mistreat you? Also, where are you from? Where are the other ogres?" Even ogres have parents. She's curious about this.

With the fight over, Erevan takes a quick look around the room, noting the guards' weapons and armor and other assorted belongings. Taking a moment or two to clean the blood off of his dagger, he then approaches Hecate, a brief expression of distaste mingled with mild revulsion evident on his face as Grumblejack makes a meal out of one of the two still breathing guards. Still, he can control such feelings easily enough and the look disappears as quickly as it appeared.

"Here," he addresses the young wizardess, offering the dagger to her. "I believe one of the swords will be of more use to me, if not one of the chain shirts thanks to your magic. And you may be needing a more conventional weapon yourself. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it, yes?"

With the small blade out of his hands, he then proceeds to help himself to a new weapon, taking one of the longswords along with the belt and scabbard accompanying it. "I could also use one of the bows, if there are no objections. And the uniforms may prove handy if we want to disguise ourselves, something that may make approaching other guards and taking them by surprise a little easier."

OOC:
Erevan will be taking a longsword, a longbow and 20 arrows. I have no interest in either the chain shirts or the heavy steel shields, as those come with penalties to Dex-based skills (such as Acrobatics and Stealth).

The Doctor looks momentarily fascinated at Grumblejack's feasting, then takes the other living guard and a discarded torch into the cell they recently vacated and secures the man in manacles. Afterward, he turns to Tkaara and profers the dagger. "Be my guest, though mind I'll want the blade back when you have finished. Hardly well-made, but good enough for butcher's work."

That done, he excuses himself to a dim corner where he changes out of his blood-soaked rags and into the clothing found in the veil's sack. Hardly suitable attire, and I'm desperately in need of a good shave and scrubbing, but better off than I was, I suppose.

"It seems everything went smooth, everyone." Etna says with a satisfied smile, trying to keep her composure while her hearth actually thumps like mad in her chest. Moving to the guardroom, she stops when she feels something wet under her foot. Lowering her gaze, Etna follows with her eyes the pool of blood to the guard's lacerated throat. She fixes her sight on the wound for a long minute, staying completely silent. "This was the first time I killed someone." she says plainly and matter-of-factly. "But I don't feel anything in particular. Is it normal?" Etna asks to the three killers in the group.

She averts her eyes when the ogre starts munching on the corpse, and moves into the cell. "May I?" Etna asks to whoever is wearing bloodied armor. If given the permission, she pats them a couple of times, making the stains of blood swiftly disappear.

"And I agree that we should question that guard.". While she normally would have added a grin to this last proposal, Etna now falls silent as soon as she's finished.

Tkaara watches as Grumblejack proceeds to dismember the guard with an odd fascination. Her mind know that she should be repulsed by his actions, but at the same time, and but for a brief moment, she feels that partaking in the feast would be enjoyable. Fortunately for her companions, this strange desire is gone almost as soon as it is gone.

When Grumblejack mentions that he is hurt and a moment later offers her a piece of the guard, she shakes her hand. However, as she is doing this, a strange haze passes over her and she reaches out and touches the ogre, while speaking in a strange whispering voice similar to wind blowing through a deserted tomb mixed with fleshless bones rubbing together.

Necril:

May the power of the night heal the living.

As she does so, a strange shadowy haze passes from her hand and momentarily surrounds the ogre with tiny pinpricks of light flashing and then seeming to sink in the Grumblejack's flesh. Each time one of these touches him, it seems to firm up and remove his injuries.

Perception 20:

Anyone watching notices that Tkaara's eyes appear to turn almost black with many sparkles as though one is looking at the sky on a perfectly clear night.

Once this finishes she shakes her head and looks to the others.
What happened? It is as though I blacked out for a moment.

-------------------

After the above, and still within the 15 minutes.
Tkaara looks at the armor and weapons with some distaste. This is partially mollified when Etna cleans the armor.
It is not my choice, but I was invited to more than a few fox hunts and other noble foolery. Thus, I have some basic training in simple weapons like that club as well as wearing most lighter armor. I could use a chain shirt and shield. Unfortunately, I have never trained with a sword, so I think that I shall stick with the club for now.

OOC:

Is there a way to remove the leather from the club to make it lethal?

Mechanics:

Tkaara will take a chain shirt, a heavy shield, a uniform and a club.

-------------------
Once the guard is bound in a cell, might as well use the manacles, Tkaara will take some water and attempt to awaken him by throwing it into his face.

Seeing the guard awaken from his unconsciousness, Tkaara smiles at him.
Good evening my friend. I have a deal for you. If you answer all our questions, we will leave you bound and gagged here. If you choose to not answer anything, then Grumblejack will eat you, while alive. I bet your fine fingers would make a perfect appetizer for him.

She pauses and straightens her hair, pushing a piece that had fallen in front of her face away.
So, do you have a deal? Or does Grumblejack have a fresh meal?

As she finishes, she stands up and crosses her arms looking down at the guard with a complete lack of interest as to whether he chooses to live, or be eaten. The dagger, still covered in blood of the fallen guards is in one hand and Grumblejack, still making his bone club, is a few feet behind her in the cell.

As the last guard falls, done in by claw and blade, Felrin breaks into a horrible, exultant smile, reveling briefly in their triumph over their captors. ”So glorious to have others fight by my side!” he says to Erevan, looking at him over the unconscious guard. He drops to his knees and begins stripping off the guard’s armor and clothing, donning it for protection as well as disguise.

As he dresses, Grumblejack begins to tear apart and devour one of the guards, and Felrin’s eyes widen in a blend of fear and fascinated horror. I was in the cell with that thing, by myself. I was inches from him when I unlocked him. I’m glad he thinks Tkaara is his pretty lady, so he’s fighting on our side. ”Glad to know you keep your promises, Grumblejack,” Felrin comments, ”it’s important to hold to a bargain you’ve made.” He slips one of the leather clubs into his belt and hooks a bow and quiver of arrows over his shoulder, and one of the steel shields goes on his back.

Once he’s finished dressing, Felrin gratefully accepts Etna’s offer to clean the blood off the salvaged uniform, saying, ”I’ll blend in a lot better that way. It may make sense for some of us to try to pass ourselves off as guards, escorting the others. We should look around and see if there are manacles we can rig up to make you look like your hands are shackled, make it more convincing.”

In response to the ifrit’s question, he says, ”I’m sorry to hear you don’t feel anything from your first kill. Humans have been persecuting me so long, when I killed my first it was a source of great relief and joy. I was glad not to have my secret exposed, and I felt I was repaying a bit of the hurt I’d suffered. This time it felt magnificent! To be fighting to be truly free, and fighting side by side with others rather than alone! I look forward to the next guards we meet – though if we can sneak or trick our way past them, I’ll take that course to ensure our freedom.”

Looking at the door to the east, he adds, ”We should see if there’s anything useful in there. I presume there aren’t any guards that way, or they’d already be here, wondering what the ruckus was, or why the game has gone so quiet.”

Felrin watches Tkaara heal Grumblejack, and hears her question, as if she’d momentarily blacked out. ”It looked like you healed the ogre, not sure what else happened.” He assists in shackling the unconscious guard, then says, ”Let’s see if I can patch him up a bit.” Using the filthy prison rags he was clothed in a few moments before, he tries to bind up the guard’s wounds, but he makes rather a hash of it. Shrugging, he says, ”Someone else want to give this a try? I’m like to kill him as much as help him.”

Hecate smiles into Erevan's golden eyes - another mystery - as she accepts the dagger from him, attempting a mock-curtsy before realising that the prison rags really don't permit that sort of formality. "I hope you're not relying on me to use this," she jokes, in a murmur. "I'm not asking you to spell-cast, after all." Still, if it comes to it at least she'll be able to use it to open a vein or two and avoid re-capture. Better that than burning at the stake, after all.

Suddenly, the hairs on the back of her neck prickle - someone's using divine magic! She turns swiftly, but not fast enough to see who it was, although Tkaara looks dazed and the ogre looks considerably better. She opts to say nothing for the time being, but stores the curiosity in her head for review at a better moment.

She looks ruefully at Etna and Felrin: "Can we please not talk about it? I know they had it coming, but still..." she trails off.

Excusing herself, the young woman collects her clothing from the bag and dresses in privacy. The peasant clothes aren't the best-made material, but at least there's no corsets or bustles involved.

”I say we don’t,” Felrin responds. ”Whether he tells us where the guards are or not, we’ll have to get through them. And I don’t want to use what little healing I can do to put him back together, after we went to so much trouble to tear him apart.” He rips a strip of cloth off the old prison rags and ties it tightly around the man’s mouth, then says, ”He’s unconscious, manacled and gagged. I don’t think he’s a threat. If we really need a question answered, we can come back and wake him up.”

He then turns to his companions and asks, ”Everyone okay with that? Are you all ready to keep going? How about Erevan and I go first, nice and quiet, to see what’s ahead, and the rest of you follow a little ways behind with Grumblejack?”

Tkaara adjusts the ill fitting armor and guard's clothes. Fortunately she is tall enough that the clothes do not drag on the ground.

No wonder guards are always so grumpy. These uniforms are hideous. In public, I would not be caught dead in one. Fortunately, I do not expect there to be many left to discuss my clothing once we are done.

After Felrin speaks she nods.
Yes, I can hit fairly hard, but doubt I could take more than a few blows in my current state. Also, with this armor I doubt I will be very stealthy. Lets get down stairs, and then get out of here as soon as we can. My sickness should be gone for a while, but it will undoubtedly return before too long. You quiet types lead. I will remain back with the ladies. She looks at Etna and Hecate. They will need someone who can pack a punch if a guard comes up from behind.

Male Ogre

Grumblejack finishes his meal rather quickly. Literally it is like one minute the guards body is there and the next he is gone. After finishing his food Grumblejack begins to add a femur bone as a handle for his new club when Hecate starts asking questions. Through a bloody grin he looks up at the girl.

"Guards beat Grumblejack and drug him. His strength be drained, try make him weak. Grumblejack was surviving in local moor make living as highwayman when he caught, dragged here and beaten and branded. Grumblejack mystified he still alive." he says before letting out a huge very smelly belch.

"Grumblejack sorry! Grumblejack hungry and all they feed Grumblejack is yucky bread and meat dead so long it not even bleed.”

"Grumblejack have no family, Grumblejack alone, Grumblejack never seen another like him. Grumblejack raise self."[/b}

He is in conversation with Hecate when Tkaara comes close and the shadowy haze passes over him. This startles Grumblejack and he swats at the flashing lights and moves away quickly from Tkaara [b]"Evil Witchcraft, Not Hurt Grumblejack" the ogre says as he continues trying to swat the shadowy flickering lights away. As they sink into his skin and heal him Grumblejack stops fighting and embraces the remaining lights.

Afterwords he turn to Tkaara "Pretty lady heal Grumblejack. Grumblejack knew you were special. Grumblejack has favorite lil 'un now."

Etna searches the guardroom and while she doesn't find any drugs or anything else useful she does however notice that the fireplace's chimney could be used to climb down to whatever room is below. However with the heat coming from below and looking down the chute there is most definately a fire burning below.

Tkaara realizes that the leather clubs are made to be used for a non lethal attack as there is no solid core to them. She then takes the items she wants from the table and joins the doctor back in the cell to try and figure a way to wake up the guard.

Felrin soon joins some of his companions in the cell with the guard and looks him over. By the extent of his injuries he should wake up on his own in a couple of hours.

Looking at what is left on the table the group can see that there are 2 chain shirts, 2 heavy steel shields, 2 longbows, 40 arrows, 3 longswords, ring of keys, a single key with the number nine on it and a signal horn remains.

"Hmm... it would seem without proper medical supplies, there will be no waking the man until he recovers from some of the blows we have inflicted upon him. I, for one, do not wish to wait that long, as much as I hate venturing forth without all available information. As time is certainly not on our side in this venture, I would call it a necessary risk." He takes the dagger back from Tkaara. "It may be best if we make sure this one never wakes, and simply try to capture the next person we see whilst they are yet conscious."

Etna fixes her eyes on the chimney. She thinks for a moment, then asks. "Say, does any of you remember how many floors we climbed before arriving in our cell? That could help us have a better feel of this place..."

Etna nods at Felrin's proposal for how to move around the prison. I agree. You've proved to be quite formidable in melee, and my ability to contribute is limited to my spells. But before we go..." she turns to the table and picks the keys "Maybe you or Erevan should carry this. If you're scouting ahead, there are bound to be closed rooms between us and our freedom." she manages to crack a smile.

OOC:
What is that thing at z 18? A door?

Felrin sees the doctor preparing to end the guard's life, nods and walks away, ready to move on to the next phase of their escape. Rejoining the party in the guardroom, he accepts the keys from Etna, saying, "That makes sense, for one of us in front to have them. It's a bit quicker than picking the locks too, though the quality of the locks in this place is a joke."

Following Etna's eyes to the chimmney, he continues, "I don't recall how many floors we came up, but I do think that chimney might provide some useful information. Fire doesn't bother me much, I might be able to strip down and climb to whatever's below and take a look. But if there's a fire burning down there, the room is likely occupied. But it's a thought. For now, I want to see what's in here." He moves to the door leading to the east and opens it, peering into the room.

OOC:
Yes, Etna, I believe that's the door to the room where the doctor met Tiadora, and I'm going to check it out.

OOC:
Have we somehow spend 30 minutes already? I figure that the battle took about 30 seconds. Then there would have been 10-15 minutes to strip the guards and let Grumblejack have his snack. I know that we have been discussing things, just wondering how it has taken us 30 minutes. Really, I think that the plan has been to move as fast as possible, especially since we are dealing with dawn and also with my medicine wearing off.
