That's very interesting, wasn't the guy we just fought wearing a purple cloak.

Trib watches the Monks display of martial prowess, walking around trying to get a good angle to compare to the monk they just fought.

perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14 to identify similarities in the previous monks fighting style, that was about useless

From watching the guy, you estimate he would have trouble fighting his way past a bunch of toddlers. He's pure poser.


Eventually he finishes jumping around, making "Hiyah!" noises, and kicking and chopping at air.

Puffing a little bit. "Obviously you are suitably impressed, so you should now be willing to go on my quest! I need a group of stout hearted adventurers to retrieve my staff. "

Then he gets a perplexed look on his face. "Here? Umm, where is here by the way? " then realizing what you were saying "Evil that infests this place?!? Hanhso will combat the evil with his purple fist of vengance!!!" and he does another loud "Hiyaa!" and tries to do a somersault, but doesn't quit make it, taking a rather clumsy spill. He gets back up as it nothing happened and chops and kicks a few more times. "You see I'm a bit off balance for lack of my staff. Nasty little goblin must have taken it while I was napping. "

She takes a dagger our and cuts herself in the arm.
Uses her sacrificial boon to gain a +1 in her next roll, and to look badass.
"Talk! Now!"
Intimidate Roll: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28


A wet spot and a distinctive smell indicates that Hahnso is rather indimidated.

"No don't kill me! I'm not evil! I'm just confused. I don't even know where I am. "

She casts Surmount Affliction on him.
"Are you feeling better?"


He gets a different look in his eyes. "Where am I? Who took me from the school? Where's my mop?"

Well Maria his him well in hand. As Maria is 'interviewing' the 'monk' Trib, resisting the urge to laugh at the man goes about the room, making sure it is secure and checking any other exits.

trib will take 10 (23) on perception for the room and take 20 (33) for any exits


The room is shaped like a large cross. You entered from the west arm of the cross. There are double doors at the other ends of arms of the cross.

Klor simply surveys the room with his keen dwarven eyes.

not much else he can offer


The door at the north arm is quite elaborate.

The entrance to this room is a set of giant double doors constructed of thick oak. The doors are carved with a teardrop and pentagram symbol. A thick chain loops through both door handles, holding the door shut.

I watch the thread from work all day yesterday, then take an evening and night off (family stuff) come back in the morning and there are 17 posts :)

OK, whether or not you recognize the symbol, the chained shut door remains (I don't see anyone with the relevant knowledge skills).

is the chain locked or does it need broken?

hope no one asks about the chain, looks a little unprofessional to have not forewarned them Trib looks around trying to not appear surprised that the chain was on the doors. His impatience finally gets the better of him and he asks; "Does it floggin' matter who's door it is? Are we's gonna break tha chain or go to a different bloody door, yeah?"


It doesn't mention a lock, so assume the chains are actually welded shut (how, don't ask me, but MAGIC!)

After everyone is ready the opens the east door.

trib shrugs and toddles over to the east door and positions himself behind Maria.


You are aware that Klor does have an adamantine waraxe and could chop through the chains like twine.

The east door has a rather foul smell emanating from the other side.

sorry but Klor is a little blunt and based on previous comment wasn't sure which way things went down.

he then whacks at the chain

attack just in cast: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
axe damage with power attack and 2-handed: 1d10 + 16 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 16 + (6) = 31


Klor chops through the chain with ease.

Maria uses her wand to cast Shield on herself, and the opens the door, with everybody ready to enter.
Sorry for not asking before, but anyone else want's a Shield casted on?


Shield is personal only, you cannot cast it on someone else.

With the chain removed, Maria opens the oddly inscribed door to find an empty chamber. The is a passage which leads out of it to the east.
