Is it Nature? (The base creature is a Magical Beast, unless I am entirely mistaken.)

Ok. So. My addition to Yrrin's introduction, which was intended to heighten the moment by adding to the danger and challenge, was unwelcome. Death_Keeper has chastised me for overshadowing his character's grand entrance of a one on one duel with a Marilith. He is absolutely correct in that I should have verified with him, beforehand, that Lynora's suggestion of this addition was welcome.

My apologies to Death_Keeper for interfering. Rest assured that it will never happen again.

I didn't mind the addition, I was annoyed about how powerful the addition was... But I am okay with it, :) sorry if I was a bit... ill tempered earlier

If anyone is to blame here it's me. Honestly, I should have done a better job coordinating the two story lines. Initially I expected the assassins to get away from the site with the marilith fight and engage Phaeze and co in another location, thus keeping all the other folks rushing to help out of Yrrin's way to not overshadow his grand entrance. Obviously I dropped the ball with this one and didn't step in when I should have. Mea culpa, and no one is to blame for this mixup but me.

Unfortunately I'm not perfect and sometimes I screw up. So I am very sorry to both of you for messing up this time.

That's why I dropped the Blade Barrier, to cut everybody off. Obviously it can be gotten around, but it should be a decent block for now.

The one other thing I will say is that with any scripted scenario, the one thing you can always expect is that your script WILL go off the rails within the first round. Every time. Without fail. It's the nature of tabletop games. This scene is at least going to the same destination as intended....I can't tell you how many times that's not been true...

anyhoo.....since when do we use initiative? No offense meant, it's your combat DB3, but we've never used the mechanic in this game before on account of it making PBP even more clunky than usual. We've always done go in post order, but don't get to go again until everyone in the combat has had their turn. If we're trying to figure out who goes first between PCs and baddies, just have one person roll a group initiative to figure it out.

Edit: Dave, that really is too much for one round.

I think the problem arose because the post in question has no mention of quickening that particular spell.

I didn't? Sorry, yes it was quickened, all my magic missile spells are quickened,, I apply any one metamagic to them for free, only one I have that fits that spell is quicken.


Ah. Is it Spell Perfection? Just wondering, and I may be reading your sheet wrong, but fairly certain that Spell Perfection has a prereq of 3 metamagoc, but I only see Quicken. I could be missing it though, in no way was my look at your sheet comprehensive.

Question DB3: what time is it where we are? It may matter for some of Tyrrin's powers (some get boosted while outside at night).

Also remember that for sorcerers, Metamagic is a full round action (unless it is quickened), so David can't Nimbus this round if he's using Searing Fireball. Could still use his missles with that change though.

Immune ot fire or cold? DB3 said cold immunity, but i didn't look the creature up in the bestiary...

I think what Kryz means is that: we have no way of knowing that it is immune to fire damage: it wasn't listed in the knowledge check. (Hence why Ghalen fired a laser at it).

Tangentally, Star Wars d20 used another damage type, simply called "Energy" for things like Blasters and Lightsabers. The balance was that shields only absorbed energy damage, which made things like vibroblades and such still useful.

Up to Lyn or DB3 (or Dalesman, his input would be key here I think).

I bolded the super important part.

Because Vai had to teleport twice to get where she was going (she needed to be able to see), and the feat only allows you to teleport once before you first attack, Vai essentially 'whiffed' an attack at an empty space to get two teleports before attacking.

Alright, I'm out for a while. Gotta go get about nine inches of hair cut off. *sob* I hate short hair, but no choice. In its current state of damage I have permanent bad eighties hair. :(

Ah. I see what you did there. I think I have been playing that wrong in my tabletop game. Each time you stop is an opportunity for an attack; use it or lose it. Makes more sense now.

Again playing this game clarifies my understanding of the game; I love you guys.
