if I can see you you can hear me, my telepathy can reach across gaexies (though currently he only has that kinda range on skeets, but it would make sense that to non thralls his telepathy would still be pretty far reaching)

he didn't want them to go through it, just deactivate the thing, though if the sheer brightness sent you to the infirmary.... it's a good thing vare and zix got to talking...
You take blindness for 2d4 rounds no save if you are within 20ft and have 8 or less HD.
Normal people wouldn't be sent because of that. He's just a wimp, and even that much "damage" could trigger the wards for him. That, and I need a reason he wasn't there. He was always in the other classes, but here he can't have been here, his powers would have probably already triggered then.

Not everyone is a spontaneous caster with no limit on spells known except forbidden schools. You think someone who is so smart would know this.
Edit: actually, not quite. Resist energy works if you are CL 7 or higher.

but I will point out that a 7th lvl caster using resist energy would be fine, as would anyone casting protection from energy, the red veil only does 20 damage, he figures that with three ways to get around it, one being textbook, the other two being low teir abjuration spells (and this is not even counting teleporting or earth glide which would have earned you a D for the assignment, essentially a ::you are technically right but also a bit of a smart***::)
but yeah, while he really knows his stuff that does not necessarily mean he's a good teacher, (he is doing better thanks to vare)

I think may have cone of cold. I got certified to trade in a bbunch of warlock abilities for a bunch of spells that searched "ice" and put the spells filter on. I'm not terribly in need of a rebuild I'm kinda happy with how he is. I would be interested in hearing what you propose for it though. Feel free to PM.
