I would imagine not, at least by RAI, since PF2E seems to be more focused on limiting the number of followers your character can have, but even if it were allowed you would likely still be limited to the same "no more than four minions" rule that rituals like Animate Object and Create Undead have in their rules text.

i'm more sad that you can't have both an animal companion and a simple trained pet though.
you can't make the iconic ranger with his "cat" (insert panther, jaguar, tiger, etc) and an eagle/falcon/sparrow/whatever on his shoulder :(
You can because one may be a familiar and the other is a companion. So make a gnome ranger and take animal accomplice (a free familiar) and then ranger the animal companion and now you have both a Liger Companion (because we live in a fantasy world why not a tiger/lion) and a tiny sparrow.

a familiar is not an animal. at least not in the traditional and iconic way.
a trained pet is via the bonded animal skill feats, and those specifically disallow animal companion+bonded animal.

Which is just the teeniest bit annoying when you recall that rituals that make minions give you a limit of four, and don't have any special restrictions to go along with them, though I guess that's what you get for paying for the ritual and having to pass the checks over simply picking up a general feat. Granted YMMV on whether a general feat is worth more or less than the cost/ritual preparations, though.
That bonded pet won't level with you, either, so it's benefit sharply diminishes as you level.shroudb |

it's not about the power level of the pet.
it really is just a pet.
i just like the aesthetic of a ranger with his tiger/wolf/whatever and his falcon perched in his shoulder.
granted, the falcon in a non-combat force, mainly for RP or to have it circling above you and coming down to you when you whistle, it's just annoying that an obviously non-combat pet is disallowed with animal companions while it's still allowed with all other kinds of minions like familiars and etc.
i just can't figure why.

You can always buy an animal in a settlement and make it helpful toward you by treating it well. That feat makes an animal insta-helpful but I don't think anything is stopping you from simply purchasing an animal, befriending it the old-fashioned way and traveling with it. At least as a GM I'd have no problems with it.
