Can we pick the insanely fitting Acadamae Graduate feat? It'll nullify some of the bonus of pact wizard, so I might drop that or go Sin Magic Specialist (Slot) instead (though illusion sucks to lose). Though Pact Wizard is still pretty cool, so I might keep it. Still obviously going for a conjurer (summoning focused).

Is Sin Magic Specialist the PRD version of the Thassilonian Specialist?
Because my Thassilonian Evoker could know your Conjurer and set up a little tension, as Conjuration directly opposes Evocation?
Just thinking about possible backstory connections.
bigrig107
We are all from the same Acadamae, so odds are we know of each other even if we don't know each other very well. We are all same "rank" (what's level called?) too.
But yes Sin Magic Specialist is the same as Thassilonian Specialist.
I'd be up for setting up a little inter-Acadamae rivalry, always trying to one-up each other's school and stuff.
What do you think?
oyzar
My creatures can blast better than your evocations? (And do other things to boot) It could be cool, though I'm not sure I'm willing to ban illusion. However we could have that rivalry anyway. I'm certainly going to have evocation as an opposition school.
Everything you can do,
I can do better,
You can do nothing better than me

Definitely think I'm going to have him have that stereotypical wizardly look-down upon other schools of magic aspect, especially with non-Thassilonians.
And with him being Thassilonian, he'll probably respect your mastery of Conjuration, but trash-talk the school all the same.
Nothing too big or disruptive, just a bit of banter to add character.
My two forbidden schools are Abjuration and Conjuration, which was tough.
But I wanted to do it, and have dedicated myself to the archetype.

Evocation.
Luckily, Evocation the second most popular specialization, and who better to teach its arts than a Thassilonian Specialist?
I'll probably work in some form of battle-field service for him, after which he retired, and was asked to teach at the Acadamae.
My problem is imagining a 7th level wizard teaching at the Acadamae. Surely they have higher level specialists?
Not sure how we fit in the pecking order around here.
oyzar
You graduate at first level (as per the feat I linked). Everything above 1st level is postgrad stuff. 7th level should be sufficient to be a professor etc. Just like in a normal university there are people of all levels of experience. The headmaster is a 16th level wizard. There is certainly room for doing other stuff than just staying at the academy.

Ah, I thought he meant no Prestige Classes on the start for character creation, didn't know there is no PrCs ever. If that is the case I'm gonna come up with something else since we'd have a lot of overlap Oyzar.
I will primarily focus on summoning, not on planar binding. The more I look into things, the more certain I am of that. So there is still room for someone to be different by going that route. We still don't know if the GM will allow earlier access to spells as Samsaran though. If that is not allowed Lesser Planar binding won't be available for a few levels yet.
On the topic of crafting I think I'll take craft wonderous item so I can afford fatigue immunity right out of the gate.

So, using information from the Academy of Secrets Module, I have realized that I cannot be a graduate of the Acadamae, as it states that no student may select Conjuration or Divination as opposition schools.
Seeing as how my schools are chosen, I think I have to be from outside, although nonetheless powerful enough to be a professor.

Can we replace Scribe Scroll with Spell Focus as they so in PFS if we want? That would be nice for my character, he'll need as many feats as he can get.
I hope so. I have no interest in Scribe Scroll, but want the Arithmancy feat as an Evoker. It requires SF (Divination) and I'd rather not spend a feat on that if possible, even though being an Elf gets me 2 feats from the 10 leftover RP.

Just trying to help with the lore!
My character is an outsider who joined as a Professor after he became a Wizard.

I'm thinking of grabbing the Extradimension Focused Arcane School in addition to the Creation one. I'm not sure if that is legally allowed (probably not!) but the Extradimension removes the last summoning perk of the Conjuration school in favour of a minor buff to demi-plane creating spells (rope trick and such).
That would mean that there would be no overlap between my Conjurer focused on potions, poisons and such fun things and the other proposed Summoning/Calling Conjurers.
I hope that this is okay/agreeable : )

Here's the first-draft crunch for my submission, Izithrael Xar, Void Elementalist, Adjunct Instructor in Divination, and Elder Gods cultist. Research interests include illuminating the darkness 'twixt the stars, parting the veil, and bending young minds toward the will of the Lovecraftian pantheon.
Curriculum Vitae forthcoming.

Another question!
How do you feel about Archetyped Improved Familiars?
I was thinking of a Valet (to aid with brewing!) Shadow Drake (it is both adorable and useful for delivering touch-attacks!), but Improved Familiars lack the ability to speak with others of its kind (which most [all I think] familiar archetypes replace)...

Ok, I'm back. I'll try to answer you questions from the lest couple days. Sorry if I miss any. I've bolded responses I feel are important to everyone.
Can two wizards with the same schools be picked, or are all evokers in direct competition with each other?
Not sure if you want, or even care, about multiple schools, as I'm pretty sure the actual concepts won't be the same.
Same school is fine. There are really cool things that can be done with very similar casters. So multiple schools will not come into play at all in the selection process.
What do you think of using Samsaran's Mystic Past Life to get earlier access to spells from the summoner spell list?
I don't think Mystic Past Life lets you cast sooner. It lets you know them, but there are still level restrictions on what you can cast. You get learn other arcane spells that you normally could not, but you still cannot cast them unless you have the appropriate level.
1) Would you let someone pick an awakened animal for a cohort?
2) Would you let someone to cast (or rather, pay someone else to :P) Awaken on a vermin?
I'm thinking a spider sidekick would be sorta cool. And they have some really nice poison one could refine ... (The giant black widow is always a nasty classic. The dream spider has a less lethal poison but ah so much potential for shenanigans.)
Also, they are perfect to torment students that aren't paying attention (or being humble enough or being too dumb or being too smart or ...)!
Sidetrack: @Other applicants - If this is allowed, I am likely to play up the 'has a creepy spider' aspect of the character a bit. So if you have arachnophobia or something, please let me know and I'll cut it back!
3) The Serpent Belt has been highly debated on these forums but the functionality remains obscure. What are your thoughts on it (aka how do you interpret and rule "This belt’s wearer gains a +4 bonus to all poisons")?
1. By all means, yes!
2. Because spiders are so cool, yes, you can awaken a spider. It will have an Intelligence score, so not immune to mind affecting affects. Feel free to creep it up with the spiders.3. Without delving into the forums, from the spells listed in creation it seems that it should have said "saves vs poisons", so that's what I'll go with for now.
On a related note, I was able to read through the unchained poison system, and I really like it. I will be using that system in place of the regular poison rules
I am actually super interested in rolling up someone that could eventually become a Diabloist with this. Someone teaching Conjuration and the Outsiders and eventually moving to the Diabloist PrC. Would that be okay?
I'm not allowing Prestige Classes, but there are other ways to harness the power of hell. Oh yes, there are other ways. Infernal Binder for instance.
Azten, The reason for no prestige classes, is that I don't want people to sneakily become fighters. And I don't want tooo much variation in special abilities. There should be plenty of spells/magic items/feats to keep you occupied.
Can we pick the insanely fitting Acadamae Graduate feat?
Yes. Good find.

The Academae would probably allow a visiting professor from another institution. They would undoubtedly look down on you for being so foolish as to eschew the most powerful of schools.
I hope so. I have no interest in Scribe Scroll, but want the Arithmancy feat as an Evoker. It requires SF (Divination) and I'd rather not spend a feat on that if possible, even though being an Elf gets me 2 feats from the 10 leftover RP.
Sorry, you're stuck with Scribe scroll, unless an archetype replaces it. But my intent was that all the core races cost 0RP. So as an elf you should have a total of 8 feats to spend not including scribe scroll.
I'm thinking of grabbing the Extradimension Focused Arcane School in addition to the Creation one.
Archetype stacking is OK. Your combination looks legit.
Do we know how we're doing hit points?
Max at first, 1/2 rounded up every other?I hope not, or we're all gonna be real squishy.
Maybe max per HD?
Max first level. After that use PFS progression, or roll dice if you want to chance it. Worried about low HP? You're all powerful wizards. You can handle it!
How do you feel about Archetyped Improved Familiars?
Love it. Use it.
I didn't see an answer anywhere - is there a limit to how much of our starting funds can be in crafted gear? I'm guessing not since it sounds like your taking a "Wizards are awesome, embrace it!" stance, but I wanted to check.
No limit. I expect each of you to be bristling with magic items. You will make lovely targets for bandits I'm sure.
bigrig107
Yeah, I understand that they will be condescending, but I shall show the nonbelievers the strength of Thassilon!
Oh, I didn't see any mention of core races being 0 RP.
Does that mean that all core races get 4 bonus feats...?
Edit: I'm assuming that since you didn't have any issues with Leadership, that the Instructor Archetype is acceptable?
Edit 2: if we did take Leadership, could we take wizards for our followers? Not sure the adept really works for a wizard academy's followers.
Contentious GM
I thought core races were always 0RP. Are they listed as 10RP somewhere. Ether way, I'm declaring them 0RP for this campaign. You should have 9 feats available to start with if you are a core race. Less if you chose another race.
Instructor Archetype is acceptable.
You may take wizards as followers.

Humans 9 RP.
Elves 10 RP.But if they are zero I will happily take 2 more feats :-)
