Round 4 - recap
It takes but an instant. Arindale stops growing, mostly because his head smashes into the 10' ceiling above. A second later he pounds his now huge morningstar into the already unmoving halfling still astride his zombie wolf. However, the blow is so powerful that it pulverizes the zombie and continues through crushing the zombie wolf's spine leaving the wolf unmoving on the floor with nothing but slowly darkening red eyes.

Scooting forward across the space with the now unmoving wolf and halfling, Tybek again brings his battleaxe to bear and slices clean through one of the zombies attacking Braden. The zombie falls to the floor unmoving. A moment later, Dworking again grasps onto the zombie who struck him the round before. This time, the big dog simply rips off the zombie's leg. You think that the zombie looks almost surprised by the sudden turn of events, however, you will never know as the zombie just collapses to the floor.

After all the noise and commotion, the basement is again suddenly eerily quiet and still other then the rasping breath of the party as they take stock of the situation and survey the re-dead now lying about them in several piles.

After catching your breath, you find that the rooms most of the zombies came out of appear to have been small sleeping cubicles. Each has the broken remains of a cot and other broken and rotting furniture. On the other side (where Arindale is in the map) appears to be what was once a torture chamber. Lining the walls are all types of torture paraphernalia. An iron maiden, a rack, lots of wicked barbed whips, and numerous other rusted, rotting and broken devices for which you can only imagine one use.

I think we will be headed back soon.

"Let us load up our loot and go back to town. I need to make some scrolls with our newfound money if we are going to continue to take on hordes of zombies each day. Ty, I hear dwarves can carry some heavy loads without tiring. Let us see if we can sell our stash of weapons to the town and tell Jaroo what we found while we still have the breath to talk about it. If they got my nephew Falco, the forces of evil in here are not trivial."

Braden hugs Ranim: "I don't like fighting on the front line, but I felt you needed me to buy you some time."

The timing on that one was pretty epic! Never rolled that before in a PBP and I think only once ever in all my 30 years of tabletop gaming!

Regarding the double 20. I like the idea of multi-crits. If you roll a natural 20 on a crit confirm, you can roll again. A hit increases your multiplier by 1x (2x-->3x, 3x-->4x, etc.) Theoretically, the sky is the limit. You do not get the full crit range, only a natural 20 has the chance to increase the multiplier if you confirm that bonus crit. Monsters will also get this bonus.

A green glow emanates from where the dwarf is touched which quickly infuses his wounds causing some of the more serious to close.

A second later, Braden and Dworkin spring past Tybek. Dworkin latches onto the ogre's leg - This tastes even worse than the zombies, I need to have a long talk with my owner. - while the bite does not appear to do much damage, the wily dog manages to twist in such a manner that the huge ogre suddenly stumbles and falls to the ground.

"Well why did yae nae sae so b'fore?! Yae've got tae speak up, we fella!" Tybek draws his axes and goes over to the door to listen carefully. "So who dae yae think is shoutin like that? Is this gonnae be anither battle or are we gonnae be rescuin someone? Mae grannie use tae say that there is always room fer one mair, but she was always talkin aboot invitin someone tae her wee hoose. 'Come awa in!' she would say. I'm wonderin if we shood apply that thinkin tae the battles we've been fightin. Thair is always time fer one mair battle! Come awa in! What dae yae folks think? Shood we push open the door and introduce oorselves?"
