We both voluntarily fail the save.
Vybus says, "We are members of an organization called the Pathfinder Society." Max says, "We have been sent to this area to recover items that will allow us to stop an ancient sleeping evil being from being woken. We have strong reason to believe there are evil cultists inside who are members of the group that is trying to awaken this evil Runelord."
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
I made a mistake. Rogar does not have a suit of adamantine full plate yet. It's just next on my "to buy list"
Rogar scrutinizes the scene with open suspicion:"What if this is just a trap and this guardian is actually trying to improve its chances?"
Rogar does not remove his items
Warpac
|
Warpac is about to say something, but shuts his mouth, remembering that the Deva won't listen unless he disarms and disrobes. Imagine, asking a Dwarf to do all that!
Vybus Abbin
|
"Do you not believe in your own magical abilities to discern false statements? We've submitted to your request of removing all our own magical items and effects so you know we are not magically deceiving you. What we say is true, good deva," says Max.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
You need to roll diplomacy in order to be effective I guess
Rogar observes the scene unfolding before him with keen interest:"Be ready... things can go south any second now..."
jing kwan
|
"Your caller? You mean you were recently summoned to stop us? Are you sure your caller isn't the one who has lied to you?"
knowledge(planes): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23
Mutahir Hashem
|
Mutahir taps his heal with his sword, glaring at the Deva... clearly, he is unhappy parlaying with the servant of a god, but he's not interrupting at least.
Warpac
|
Warpac waggles his holy symbol of Desna pointedly and glares,
"Yes, but you don't want to talk to me unless I render myself naked. No thanks."
Mutahir Hashem
|
Mutahir can't resist digging at Warpac.
What's the matter dwarf? Is your "Faith" not strong enough to protect you?
He chuckles a bit as he looks at the Deva and slowly cycles through his Aura sight to confirm the thing's alignment (Evil, Chaotic, Lawful, and finally good.)
Warpac
|
"What would you know of faith? At least in the gods. Desna does all right by me, but anything that asks me to disarm better have a good reason for it before I go along with it, Desna or no Desna."
He punctuates each 'Desna' with a thump of his ax against the holy symbol on his shield.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"Mmmmh... people... I don't think getting into a staring contest with this creature will help us find those cultists any time soon. Either you convince him to let us pass or we must resort to more direct means to break this stalemate... If we defeat it we just banish it anyway, right?" Rogar asks, clearly impatient to get the mission going.
Vybus Abbin
|
Max will take 10 for 24 on diplomacy, based on her previous appeal. Vybus will try to aid: Vybus aid diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Vybus Abbin
|
In the meantime Vybus and Max will re-equip, having satisfied the Deva by voluntarily failing their saves against the Discern Lies spell and stating our true intentions without being affected by any magic.
Warpac
|
See post at Thursday, 11:28 am - We have a diplomacy roll. Though I'm confused about who Max is.
Vybus Abbin
|
Max is my Lyrakien Azata familiar. She took 10 to GET a 24, based on the appeal she made to the Deva in a previous post. We both took off all our gear and voluntarily failed the will save to discern lies. We interacted. She composed herself and explained we have noble intentions, then took 10 on diplomacy. I’m sorry for any confusion.
Vybus Abbin
|
if we are just talking, I didn’t see why she couldn’t take 10. I usually take 10 when I can.
| Helikon |
Well to speed this up I will ok this.
The Deva smiles at the Lyrakien and replies.
"Well in that case you may pass!"
He hands you a satchel full of coins.
The impossibly large blocks of the shrine's walls are in such good condition that they seem to have been laid only decades ago. Carved into the stone, spiky script is clearly visible throughout the room. Stone double doors stand in the east and west walls.
Each is decorated with a seven-pointed star, and each blade of a star displays a spiky rune. One rune per star glows with an amber light that illuminates the room. Also in the western wall, a short square tunnel leads back outside, with a score of muddy footprints showing the way. A passageway to the south leads to another lit room. The air inside the shrine is cool and fresh.
Vybus Abbin
|
Thank you. I sincerely apologize for the confusion. I will try to make sure my posts/actions are as clear as possible going forward.
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"Well done" Rogar states. "Killing an angel no matter how misguided is never a good thing. And besides that way we avoided wasting energy and effort better spent in dealing with the cultists..." he adds before moving past the deva and entering the complex.
Vybus Abbin
|
Thank you, good Deva! Max says, with a deep bow.
After finishing re-donning all their magical equipment, the wizard and the tiny butterfly-winged woman follow Rogar through the doors.
Max has constant detect magic and detect evil. Does she detect any of either?
Warpac
|
Warpac breathes a sigh of relief with the rest of them when the Deva gives them the go-ahead. If given the opportunity he will activate sacred armor and take the lead when they enter, or right behind Rogar who, like Warpac, looks sensibly covered in metal.
Vybus Abbin
|
Max will concentrate for 3 rounds and take 10 on Knowledge: Arcana for a score of 21, (DC=15+spell level) to identify the school of magic emanating from the Shoanti. After that...
The tiny butterfly-winged woman flits about, surveying the assembled group, and addressing none in particular, says, "Whatever in the gods' green Golarion has brought you to this desolate region?"
| Helikon |
Max will find out that it is a divination spell. She will also notice a faint transmutation aura in the shrine.
One of the shoanti speaks up.
"You want to finish us off, now? Go ahead. Do so!"
The foppish Taldan gentleman is bedecked in a deep blue waistcoat with gold trim and what were once matching trousers. Dried mud now covers the entirety of his calf-high riding boots and most of his breeches.
He replies to Max question."DAMN if I know! And where the heck are we?"
The dwarf woman is relatively thin, indicating that she spends more time behind a desk than in front of a forge. She likes to purse her lips as she rubs the gold rings braided into her long, black hair.
Warpac
|
Warpac enters the room, ax tapping the wall as he goes.
"Did you mess with that shrine? Messing with shrines cause all kinds of trouble. Oh, and do one of you know anything about a guardian Deva?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
jing kwan
|
Jing Kwan and Tiny enter the room and Jing Kwan says..."Perhaps introductions would be best at first. My name is Jing Kwan, and this is Tiny, and you are?"
diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Jing Kwan's Tiny
|
Tiny looks carefully around the room for anything moving about..
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
...and ponders the truth of the answers being given...
sense motive: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17

The once well dressed man replies.
"Mylord. Please address me with Mylord."
The dwarven women replies.
"No brother, we did not. I mean mess with the shrine. We were used to carry the stuff here. It seemed like a splenid idea when he asked for our help."
The shoanti man starts to reply but then Jing enters the room and he replies.
"I am Little Thunder, my brother is Falling Star and my cousin over there Dreams in the sun."
The dwarven woman just replies "Wattlee of Clan Fireoak."
And lastely the Taldan man introduces himself.
I am Marquis Jeor Haywood, of House Haywood."
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
"Ah! Fancy meeting a fellow countryman here of all places! Marquis Haywood is it? I am Lord Rogar of House Valertis, Alastoris line... please to meet you although the circumstances seem far from ideal. I take you were brought here by a bunch of lissalan cultists? Do you know the reason why they did bring you here? " Rogar asks while studying the man for signs of deception.
Sense Motive check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Rogar Valertis Alastoris
|
I must note how Rogar is not your typical Taldan noble. Despite being a noble himself, if he thinks this guy his a member of the senatorial class he's not going to care much for the guy
Vybus Abbin
|
Whispering in Vybus' ear, speaking in Azlanti, Max informs Vybus of the divination spell coming from the Shoanti. Addressing everyone assembled, Vybus says, There's divination magic coming from that man. I fear it could be used to monitor this room, including our actions. I'm going to try to get rid of it.
Vybus casts dispel magic, targeting the divination spell and using an arcane pool point to increase the caster level by 2. Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Warpac
|
Warpac waits silently, his double headed ax head spinning.
Seem like nice enough fellows. Don't seem like they want to start a fight.
