| Jeblie Bender |
Good lady, since we do not yet know the exchange rate we can not be sure what we can afford. But surely you can offer a better discount than that for so many rooms for such a long time when you have no other customers. I do not want to have to camp out here at the camp but I am prepared to do so if need be.
Turning to look at you as an accountant would look at a table of very large numbers, Jeblie goes on. "Mr...I assume that you're going to give her a name at this point. I think that my sister and I can make some kind of accommodation for all of you. We realize that, while your things will be here for at least a month, you most likely will not. That's part of the reason for the high cost of staying here, as we guard your stuff rather well without fear of theft, I might say. Also, if you have good trade items, we can certainly come to a reasonable number of bits for the whole month to cover your party. Food stocks and spices are very good, but we also use timber and other materials to keep the place up as best as we can. The things that the winds pull in from the Desolation have a...deleterious effect on not only our building, but almost everything else in the Camp.
"So let's talk trade, shall we?"
| Lord Manticore |
"Hmmm..." Numair muses. "'Might makes right.' The Usurer's got it the wrong way round. It's 'right makes might.' The virtue of righteousness is what gives one the strength to deliver justice. There is brutality when the strongest rule through fear."
He addresses Jeblie, "I wish to meet this Usurer, that I might take the measure of the man he is. Where might I find him?"
Jeblie listens to you talk and then smiles at you, much like an owner would smile at a puppy who took his first wee in the right place for a change. "Well, I'm sure you got the handle on things, there. If your looking for the Usurer, he is just up the road at the blacksmith's. He is the local blacksmith, as well as banker, of a sorts."
| Macavity the black |
Macavity pulls back his cowl showing his simple Tien features in an attempt to remove the 'Cloak and Dagger' feel. "No apology is necessary to me, Madame Jeblie." Macavity replies. "On the other hand, it appears I owe an apology to your sister, though. How best may I apologize to her?"
Calendir Elberen
|
Not really finding much use in the exchange so far, Calendir steps out -"I will be outside" - he comments to the others as he goes through the door.
Once outside, he will keep watch at the door, casually sitting on the floor, or on top of a crate, cart, or whatever other utensil that may be used for such purpose.
He keeps particular attention on the comings and goings of the place, still not satisfied with the fact that they have not witnessed any movement whatsoever.

"No need to worry about her, lad. She wears her heart on her sleeve, that sister of mine does. She'll get over it in time. Just don't treat her poorly and you'll soon find yourself on her good side."

Go ahead and make a Perception check. There is some movement in the Camp, but not a lot at this time of day, and it is mostly towards the market area.

"Well, I'm sure you got the handle on things, there. If your looking for the Usurer, he is just up the road at the blacksmith's. He is the local blacksmith, as well as banker, of a sorts."
Numair gives her a small bow. "Thank you for the directions. I had not expected such hospitality in this wasteland."
Turning to Ruul, he says "Get me a room with a view, if you can. I'm going to see about getting us some currency." He looks around the room as he leaves, making brief eye contact with the rest of the group, the unspoken invitation shining in his eyes.
| Macavity the black |
Macavity nods to Numair's unspoken invitation and then nods to Jeblie saying, "Madame." He restores his cowl to position and follows Numair out the door.
Macavity stays behind and slightly off of Numair's right side while walking as any good shadow does.

Ruul considers Macavity's comment.
"I forget that some of us don't eat or sleep much. We will only need six rooms. We have the bits but please look at our trade good as well."
I'll mark off 144 (6 * 6 * 4) iron bits for now. Let me know if they end up taking some trade goods instead.
"Lavinia's right. We should meet this Usurer together."

Hold off on taking the bits off of the tracker sheet. If Azaraunt or someone else wants to barter, we can handle it through PMs, and then Jeblie will tell the final price in the thread.
"Well, only six rooms? I can see that the gentleman has opted not to stay, but who else is sleeping outside?"
| Ruul Spiritskin |
"Lavinia and I can share a room and Calendir, the orc, often chooses to stay outside", Ruul explains.
Elen was the one that suggested bringing all the trade goods along and this seems like precisely the place to use them.

Since it was human...
You start to shadow Numair, but you hear Ruul and Lavinia calling him back. Numair is unsure of what to do (i.e. no response yet from him), but as you look over his shoulder, you see the man hanging from the rafter scratching his chin.
| Ruul Spiritskin |
Actually tonight Calendir is staying with the others :D
Well that's still only six rooms.

True, but I don't want to bog down the game anymore than I already have back in Gundrun. I am sure that the party would like to eventually get out into the wild. :)
"I'm afraid that it won't work, dear," Jeblie says with a slight frown. You notice that she is not phased by your staying with the lady. "Our rooms are quite small you see and, well, you should be able to squeeze in there, there simply isn't enough room in there for both of you. I can have Jashanah show you the room if you would like if you don't believe me." Before you can say anything, Jeblie screams out, "Jash, come out here and stop pouting. The minotaur wants to see the room."
I've added a copy of the map for the boarding house on the shared folder. Note the square size, which is one-half normal.

Ruul manages to squeeze his bulk into the hallway to peer into one of the rooms.
"That certainly is small... We will take seven rooms then."
If we can unload enough trade goods to cover our food (dropping the price to 5 bits per person per week) I'd be content.

Jashanah goes back to the kitchen, while Jeblie resumes her place behind the counter. "So let's see them trade goods, shall we? It sounds like it;s time to talk shop."
| Ruul Spiritskin |
Ruul rumbles in agreement and leads the little woman outside to the mounts that are carrying the bulk of the goods.
Ruul will show her everything we have to trade.

Can you post a link to your sheet? I didn't track the trade goods on my copy. Once I see it, I'll make a list of the items Jeblie and Jash will want. If we make it (relatively) quick, I can post my month end stuff for the company, make a trade, and be home in time to get drunk for my birthday :D

Numair Nejem
|
Numair will nod at Lavinia, indicating his compliance. He will wait just outside, taking in the sights and making small talk with Caldendir, Macavity, and Digory.
We'll need another room for Digory. Numair will pay for that himself, as Digory is not yet recovered and can't be expected to pull his own weight yet.
Lavinia Batharoy
|
Lavinia looks a bit disappointed by the size of the rooms, but makes no complaint about not being able to share a room with Ruul.
"Elen, you can keep some of your Lab equipment in my room if that helps?"
As they are laying out their trade goods, Lavinia also mentions that: "There are also a few of us who have some skill with healing magics. We would be willing to offer our services as needed."
Azaraunt
|
The wizard does not have the best diplomacy skill at the table. He should assist bargain but not lead it/make the primary roll.
The price would still hinge on our understanding of the gold to bit exchange rate I believe I will go with Numair to meet the man who sets it and leave the bargaining to good Ruull and Elen.

Look at Food and Other.
Jeblie walked out to the horses and looked impressed. "Runnin' a carvan or somethin' are you?" Going back and forth for a few minutes, Jeblie stops when she sees a bit of silk sticking off the saddlebag of one horse. "Holy gods, can that be silk?" She pulls some out and rubs it against her face. How much of this have you got?"
Several more minutes pass. In exchange for full room and board, she is asking for 40 yards of silk, all of the linen, and 20 pounds of preserved meat. She throws the last one in, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out that you had her at 'silk.'
What say you?

I think we lost Jeblie at silk...
Jeblie barely acknowledges you once she finds the linen and silk. Her hair and face seem to brighten at the prospect of real linen sheets.
| Alliriyallin |
Ally flutters over and alights on Ruul's shoulder, drawing the gnomes' attention briefly, but whispers to the minotaur, "Offer 80 square yards of linen, the silk she's asking for, and the meat. We'll probably need some of the linen in the future for clothing and bedding ourselves, so we shouldn't trade it all away. However, we should try to avoid seeming too stingy, since we're looking at an extended stay here."
| Ruul Spiritskin |
Ruul nods at the tiny woman's suggestion.
"80 square yards of linen, the silk, and the meat", he counters. "It's very fine silk..."
| Ruul Spiritskin |
The bull minotaur glances at the gnome and rubs some of the fine silk between his meaty fingers.
"20 pounds."
| Ruul Spiritskin |
Ruul unloads the goods where he's directed. Along the way he knocks his horns on the threshold of the door several times.
"This is going to take some getting used to..." he says with a rumble.
| Jeblie Bender |
"Jeblie, I was wondering, are there any sort of makeshift temples here at the camp?
"There is, but I'm not sure that you would want to worship there. The priest there is a hobgoblin, and they worship various death gods. Beyond that, they'll heal you up in a pinch, if you don't mind listening to their sermon. The priest is nice enough, believe it or not."
Lavinia Batharoy
|
Lavinia looks a bit taken aback by the idea of a hobgoblin priest. "Well, the priest sounds interesting enough that I might actually want to meet him. However, our group has enough healers of its own. I'm a priestess of Pharasma, I was just asking in case I had any fellow Pharamins up here."
