The heroes recuperate and make their way to where the bandits fled to. With grim determination.
Ahead a hill pushes up from the forest within a large clearing. Atop the face of the hill is an enormous carving of a bearded stone face staring skyward with open mouth and empty eye sockets. Two statues stand near it, each a cloaked figure with face and arms raised to the sky. A third one lies broken on the ground near its base. Two leaf less trees grow near the face as well, each looking even more twisted and dark than the other trees you’ve seen in this haunted forest.
Everyone spots some movement behind the statues - your foes have laid an ambush!
Initiative please. This is a surprise round. Everyone can take one action, except Grafire (who can't take any - sorry, your Passive Perception was too low)

The Warwood is difficult terrain and provides cover. The face is difficult terrain. The tree trunks provide cover. The bushes provide concealment. You can zoom in by cliking on the image. You should get an option to view it in its original 1200x1000 size, which will give you a better view.

As my suprise round minor doesn't affect anyone else, I'll post now.
Suspecting more enemies then they see, Shaerynn weaves a defensive spell and three blades start to circle her.
Utilty spell - Guardian Blades. Until the end of the encounter any enemy, that is adjacent to me, making an attack roll takes 6 force damage.

Winter's Wrath Encounter 7= Area Burst 2, vs Fort, 2d8+10 cold dmg; Blizzard erupts in designated area and continues until end of my next turn. Area is lightly obscured, and any creature that starts it's turn in the storm takes Cold dmg equal to Int mod. (+5) I'll target it between the two nearest statues, 2 X to=hit rolls, and 1 dmg roll;
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 281d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 172d8 + 10 ⇒ (6, 3) + 10 = 19
AND a small, contained blizzard springs up between the statues nearest to the wizard, battering the hiding foes!

Heretic attacks Grafire - misses horribly. Shaeryyn - blades up. Manny - there's no way that your spell can hit either of the guys behind the statues - it has a range of 10 and is an area burst 2. Would you care to reconsider? All - Please could you all lay out the attack and damage rolls of your power in your profile please? I know it's a pain, but it's really helpful in the long run. Otto - moving? Hadarai - done. Akahale - hit.
Akahale's attack hits home eliciting a squawk of pain.

Shaerynn moves forward, then sends a magic missile into the heretic.
Six squares east, then 8 points of magic missile affection to heretic 1

Argh! Sorry, been busy at work (Show on stage NOW, actually) ;P MM would have been my default response, thx DM!
Manny stays where he is, partially shielded by the brambles. (Possibly because they are snagging his clothes!) The elderly mage mutters something about "Rassin-Frassin too fresh robe-grabbers!" as he sends another volley into the woman behind the tree.
MM on Woman #1, auto-hit, force dmg 15 points

Hadarai |
Hadarai ranges alongside Otto, striking at the lurking tiefling.
Move (if possible to get adjacent to Otto for bonus. Move and charge is need be for the same result.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
The flames seem to be inspiring rather than impairing, unlike the ice of the river.
1d20 ⇒ 16 - save v ongoing fire damage.
Nonetheless, the warrior is not unhappy when they die away.
Fabes DM |
Hadarai - hit and down. Kill or unconscious?
Hadarai storms up the slope with Grafire, overtaking his draconian colleague, and cuts the tiefling down. As he does so, one of the warriors from the battle at the river emerges from hiding behind a tree and charges him in turn!
B2 charges Otto and misses. Hadarai - going to use your attack on B2.
Hadarai races forward and deflects the attack, and makes one of his own.
