After a few hours of strenuous work as riggers the storm calms down again. The sea is still in uproar but the sun breaks through the clouds here and there. And one of these beams of sunlight lights up a white spot on the sea.
Ratline shouts “Ship ahoy!” from the lookout. And Captain Harrigan immediately commands pursuit. It will take quite a long tim eto reach that white speck tere close to the horizon. But now some actual piracy is in sight.
GM Foxy
Aretta and Tam are put on the lower deck. Due to the ship ahead no one is interested in asking questions now. But it takes hours and hours to follow that ship. It takes all night and some until the Wormwood closes in on the Rahadoumi merchant vessel.
Captain Harrigan instructs Kroop and Trytton to slaughter half a dozen pigs, slit their throats, and throw them overboard to attract sharks to the scene of the battle.
Riaris Krine
As the Wormwood closes to within half a mile of the Man’s Promise, Riaris Krine summons Trytton, Lito, Besmara, Jarrus, Noonan and Estelle to the Wormwood’s poop deck (area A2) to give them their task for the upcoming battle."The ship’s wheel is on the aft deck, just below the sterncastle. You’re going to grapple over, kill the guards on the sterncastle, take the wheel, and guard the ship’s boats. Kill anyone who tries to get away on one of the boats. Don’t move from the wheel until the fighting’s done, or you’ll have to answer to me. Oh yeah, as we get close, it’s going to get foggy. Just stick to what I told you to do."
Riaris Krine
Krine looks at all of the group and orders "Come with me." and takes them to the armory.
This tiny chamber is crammed with chests and neatly ordered weapon racks. The armory is secured with a lock. The weapon racks hold 20 clubs, 12 heavy crossbows, 20 cutlasses, 50 javelins, 12 shortspears, and 20 grappling hooks each attached to 50 feet of rope. Two chests contain 500 heavy crossbow bolts each. "Everyone who has no weapon can have one."
Lito de'Anora
Grabs his weapons and armor, and finally a grappling hook/rope. As he gets ready he asks Sandra.
I'm still weak from the poison stings at the reef, any chance ye can help me with that?
GM Foxy
The two ships soon enter into reasonable firing range (120 feet) and close together at a speed of 30 feet per round. The crew of the Man’s Promise begins to bombard the Wormwood with missiles, mainly crossbow bolts, but also with two ballistas on the sterncastle attacking the Wormwood’s rigging in a futile attempt to slow the pirate ship. At the same time, banks of heavy mist suddenly envelop the enemy ship. From now until the conclusion of the battle, combat aboard the Man Promise takes place within multiple fog cloud spells cast by Peppery Longfarthing. Which makes all shooting from and to the Man's Promise just random guessing.
After a short time the ships collide and the pirates start and the pirates begin hurling grapples and lowering planks to board the Man’s Promise. The ships are now locked together.
GM Foxy
Now there are several options to get over to the Man's Promise.
a) You do as told and throw your grappling hook and climb over via the rope as you learned it. (Haha) There are sharks swimming in the sea by the way and the Rahadoumi wont throw Garbage. They will shoot with their crossbows and cutting your ropes.
b) Jumping over to the ship. Which might not be the worst option. It's about a ten foot jump to get amidst the deck you shall go to. But you jump from the rail and have no running start.
c) Ignore what you've been told and take the way through the thick of the fight and walk over one of the two planks. Which is a detour over the main deck.
Besmara __
"Yeah, great. That crossbow is completely useless." Besmara states and throws the thing into the corner. "After me! Last one at the wheel will stay a swab forever!"
She mounts the rail and jumps over to the other ship
Jump: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
And is swallowed by the fog that blocks all view.
Jarrus Darkhaven
Jarrus grabs a Cutlass and heads topside.
He surveys the area, looks in the direction of the new ship and smiles. "Finally." then moves to the ledge and jumps the 10ft shouting "Look alive ye scurvy dogs!" He lives for this stuff.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Jarrus Darkhaven
HOLY SHIP!!!
Jarrus looks around at the shark fins breaking the water all around him and realizes he's very flexible when he does the splits in the waters as a shark passes under him. Then starts climbing the hull of the enemy ship.
Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
He scurried up unnaturally fast and peeks over the edge.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

"Arrrrgh! You'll pay for that." Besmara shouts, draws her axe and a dagger and pays back the Rahadoumi sailor.

Confirm Jarrus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
From the deck you hear shouting and screaming. Metal hitting on metal. Now and then someone splashes into the water. A fierce battle is going on. But the fog is still thick and there is not much to see.
GM Foxy
Noonan too is greeted by two Rahadoumi sailors who drop their heavy crossbows to stab a sword at him.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Jarrus Darkhaven
Jarrus takes a cut to the shoulder as he climbs over the rail and onto the deck, he retaliates dropping low and slashing his cutlass across the legs of the other pirate.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
But misses terribly and curses. "Gozreh's gonads!! Damned it all!!"
Besmara __
Not keen on getting shot anytime soon Besmara throws her dagger after him.
Ranged: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
As that fails she changes hands and throws another dagger with her right hand.
Ranged: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Lito de'Anora
Lito tosses the grappling hook as he was shown.
Grapling hook: 1d20 + 2 - 6 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 6 = 4
And misses, so he tries again.
Grapling hook: 1d20 + 2 - 6 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 6 = 8
This time he catches the other ship and so he ties off the rope.
Then using his newly practiced skill at climbing he climbs over to the other ship.
Climb take 10 with +6 bonus gives him a 16
I can't see a thing but I'll not leave me mates...
Estelle Numbduster
Are we second level?
grappling hook: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
As almost everyone is over at the ship keeping the Raadoumi busy Lito climbs under the radar of all others onto the deck.
Besmara's sailor falls over with a knife sticking in his throat.
The waterball splashes off the sailor's armor.
GM Foxy
Estelle's hard punch leaves the sailor that stabbed Trytton losing the interest in the fight too. She moves away to slowly bleed to death.
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
The sailor stabbing at Jarrus comes down besides him as he slips on the water cast by Trytton.
Hey Noonan. Killing your two sailors yourself? Or shall we take them. Because we're already running out of our own supply.
Lito de'Anora
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
The captain is a incompident bastard but this is my chance to earn his trust. Can't talk to him, So....
Lito pulls his rapier as he announces loudly:
Dance you Rahadoumi skum! then he ends up pointing the rapier at the sailor.
Casts hideous laughter (Will DC 15) at the sailor creeping up on the captain.
Lito de'Anora
Well that got me noticed. Now for the immediate threat.
Lito starts calling out encouragements to his allies and warning them of what the enemy is trying to do.
Inspire Courage: +1 to Hit and Damage for all allies in hearing distance (round 1/10)

Jarrus looks across at the sailors running and pulls the pistol from his belt and shoots at the one that Besmara hit.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Due to the fog throwing him off he misses as a loud crack echoes from the ship and splinters fly off the mast when the bullet hits.

Besmara knocks out the first sailor with her thrown weapons.
No bleed doesn't go up.

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Both Sailors manage to get over the greasy part. But one of them is hit hard by a flying Estelle. He tumbles back looking at his bleeding wound and topples over.
Jarrus expects to hear the loud CRACK-BOOM and to smell burnt powder. But to his surprise all that happens is a CLICK.
(Falling into the sea does that to old style pistols)
The one remaining sailor desperately tries to unhinge the boat to get away before he shares the fate of his companions.
