Re-dotting. Currently working in HL on a variant of Sharice with the 25-point buy and the extra feat (which HL does not like because it has strict views on how many feats a first level character is allowed to have).

Sharice are you sure you're on the right topic - this one was 20 point buy and no extra feat that i recall.

Oops, yeah. Wrong topic. ^^;;

May has well throw my hat into the ring here as an alchemist.

Personality and background:
Elias isn't entirely sure who, exactly, his parents are but does know a few facts. His grandfather, for example, was more than willing to have him shipped out of Ustalav and had the finances to do just that. His mother left him with little more than an inherent skill for mixing concoctions. He is aware that the man, Gareth "Bone-sliver" Kludge, who raised him is not his birth father, but was willing enough to take a half orc son on as his own. He may never know the exact circumstances, but he is sure he knows his place in the world. That is to say, after a lifetime learning the ropes, saws, and various medicinal unguents of shipboard life he really knew little else.

A little over six months ago he set out on his first ship without his father. Up to that point he was more or less oblivious to just how much Gareth had shielded him. Hurt, angry, and missing his father he was unprepared for the sheer rage that built up on him when a fellow shipmate pulled a knife on him. Furious at being attacked and half dead to boot, he stuffed one of his bombs in the man's throat and detonated it with a cross punch to the jaw. Two weeks later he found himself in chronic low levels of pain and chained in the brig. That was his last free moment aboard Varisia's Bounty despite his actions being in self defense.He couldn't even really blame the captain, either, as he had disrupted the ship's routine. And he did still have his life, his freedom at the next port, and what few coins he had earned before killing that sailor. And a few coins were enough for some serious booze. Perhaps he would have washed away his worries had he not heard the cries of some woman in an alley. Being pressed into service is never particularly pleasant, but at least it is another chance for him.

Gotta search me up a good avatar for this one.

And how he looks. In spoiler form. Because I like buttons :D:
Elias is a tall, broad, somewhat apish looking half orc with a slight stoop. His hair is lank, thin, and combed back. His highly ape like face is offset by a pair of spectacles that he doesn't really need, but make him look "more civilized". He tends to dress in the fashion of an ustalavian nobleman, as viewed through the eyes of one who has never actually seen one. Long coats decorated with yellow braids and embroidery. Well shined shoes and boots, and poorly sized shirts with mock ruffles along the front. He walks with a slight limp, and generally carries a polished wooden stick as a cane. His right foot was nearly severed in twain as a child, and healed in two, long pieces, poorly. He generally wraps the foot tightly in cloth to prevent unwanted 'flexings', and ocassionally sips at a mixture of herbs and alcohol on the theory that it helps.

Still aboard.

Bilbo - you sure playing a Paper Golem is the best idea? I know that fire is frowned upon on ships, but the water is still going to make a mess of you.

Hahahaha.

After the long trip from Bloodcove, Erdthira was happy to have solid ground beneath her feet once again. After watching the crowd in the dock area, and picking out a number of less than ethical looking individuals, Erdthira's eyes finally settled on one tavern slightly off the beaten path which appeared to have a lively crowd with fewer thugs than most of the others.

Erdthira walked in and spoke briefly, finally getting him to agree to give her a free meal and drink in return for some songs. Scanning the crowd as she usually did, she picked up several unusual looking individuals which she decided to incorporate into her music.

Across the wide sea the riff raff did come;
A human a gnome;
A gunslinging crone;
A witch and a wizard;
Dark ones from the land of the lizard;
They all did arrive in Port Peril;
Where the pirates are virile;
But it was the Formidably Maid;
Thats the place where they stayed;
The finest brew on the bay;
With fine drink unlike the other's sea spray;
After a night with their fears;
And a few too many beers;
The lot found themselves bound to row under the sun.

Just keeping it bumped up.

Soon the choices shall be made, ssooooooonnnn.

Sirhan looks up from his meal hearing the woman's voice and concentrates on her song. Thinking the story of the song has yet to happen he looks around at all the faces in the crowd or is happening right now

then he hears in his head See where your pursuits have landed us some backworld bar where we can't even get a good drink.

Sirhan tries to ignore the voice and continues to listen.

the Voice speaks again You know at some point you WILL listen to me and I WILL be let out to play.

A cruel laughter echos in Sirhan's head, he shakes his head he must remember not to drink spirits it weakens his resolve. Once he gets himself under control he notes the songs is over and Claps.

The lass can strum a tune and her voice is pretty enough. But if she believes that I would ever be bound to a ship as anything but a free sailor she is a fool And with that Holgur takes another deep drink of his Ale. She over-rates the brew in this place as well.

Seijiro watched, eyes glittering with interest, while the lass sang her song... and chuckled at the reference to the fine ale to be had, not that he was trying it out. I already missed one ship because I was too drunk to make it to the docks in time. I'm not about to miss an opportunity for another berth, he thought.

He slipped around a back table where some sailors were playing liar's dice and silently watched the game for a bit as he considered his options. He was a young lad, with coppery red hair and bright amber- colored eyes. Short and slight of build, he had more the look of a cabin boy than an able-bodied seaman. Still, there was nothing special about him to attract attention and indeed the gamblers at the table paid him little heed, which suited him just fine...

Eventually he left off watching the game to wander through the Formidable Maid, circling tables, chatting with folks here and there, though in truth he knew no one here. He just had an easy way with people, and made acquaintances easily. Beyond general greetings though, most of his inquiries had to do with work aboard a ship, and all the answers he got were a few noes and some head shaking.

Sadly he slipped into a chair finally, with a dejected look on his face... Isn't anyone hiring in Port Peril at all? Maybe I'd have better luck if I talked to the harbormaster...

As that idea occurred to him, he rose and stretched, walking out into the night and down toward the docks. He could hear the sea calling to him as he approached the harbormaster's office. 'Closed' read the sign on the door. He walked to the end of the dock and sat, legs dangling over the edge of the pier, staring out over the ocean.

A tall, broad and ugly half-orc stands as the song finishes. He grabs the slab of meat he ordered and walks it out onto the docks and tosses it upwards, it doesn't come down. As the door closes you hear a muffled but still loud squawk and he smiles a little. He sits back down facing the singing woman and says;

"Sing of the open ocean and winds good for a boat's sail, and a bird's flight. Those are the things worth singin' about."

Sylvestra strides into the bar, "A good ale for this fine day." She felt good, having finally left her father's ship. A great pirate he was, but a might be stifling. Their arguement last night wasn't the first, catching her having some fun with his gunner. Not the first man who's eye he blackened over her, though he didn't take a hand this time. Good gunner's are hard to find.

Drinking deep she scanned her fellow patrons. A mixed lot they were, the kind she was used to. Not a one you could trust, not until you were crewmates. And even then a few had to learn.

She felt her father's lucky Astrolabe in her pocket. She remember well the stories he told about it. Three times he had bet it, and three times he left with it and the pot. Only won one of those games too. She decided her father didn't need it anymore, and who better to give it to than his own daughter as she set off for her own life on the high seas. Of course she could've waited for him to actually give it to her. Or let her leave. But this was it, her time to shine.

Finishing her drink, and ordering another, she wonders what tomorrow will bring.

And just realised I didn't take a correct trait, so remove River Rat and replace with Touched by the Sea ... to go with changes above for Harter Denona.

This one looks well underway, but I'll toss my chip in the hat anyway.

John Rhasp, human death mage. Full background in the alias.

He was originally built for GM-Calcifer's game, so there's a couple odd things (as per his character creation rules). Just ignore them. they can be easily removed.

Valk eyes the woman who just walked into the room.

"A sailor strong enough for the seas but are yer seas strong enough for a pirate?"

He winks as he says this and takes a drink of ale.

Jensen walks into the bar, a bit distraught. Having just gotten into a scuffle earlier in the day, it would be a perfect night for a drink, or seven.

He looks around the room as he walks toward the bar, and notes the half-orc making some kind of ruckus. Jensen looks to the bartender and says "Bartender, toss me a brew. Its been a hell of a day."

He looks over at the other half-elf that be singin, lets slide a grin and says, "What a great night for a party, next one's on me."

And tomorrow the crew for the shackles gets decided.

The door to the Formidably Maid opens and the entrance is momentarily blocked out by the broad and tall form of one of the ugliest men that has been seen in the tavern in a long time. He trundles in, a disturbing grin stretching his face, his sharp, too-white teeth standing out from his near pitch black skin. From behind him swaggers in a slight half-elven man, a head shorter than his companion, that eyes the occupants with sly appraisal.

"Well Mister Trigg, it seems like a full house tonight. Shall we partake in libations to celebrate?"

The giant nods slowly, the grin still on his face as he sits down at a table, staring blankly at a group of rough looking sailors.

"Now, now Mister Trigg, don't be rude." The half-elf smiles amicably towards them and seats himself with a flourish. "Let us see what sort of entertainment can be had this fine eve..." He smiles flirtatiously at the pale, singing woman, catching a glimpse of her yellow eyes before turning his attention to the motley assortment of folk that chose this very tavern to drown their sorrows, celebrate victories or to just spend time away from the sea before being dragged back.

Boy, tough crowd. Before they become too unruly, the pale singer begins again.

I assume you good men all know this next tale, the story of the Black Goose.

Across the waves from near to far;
With nothing to guide but Besmara's star;
The Goose did sail fast beneath the wind;
Across the sea through spray which thinned;
Henceforth and on to the glory of gold;
Those were the tales they had been told;
Into the bay before the sun did rise;
Oh the guard were taken by surprise;
One by one the crew set forth;
Raiding the homes from south to north;
Once done, they returned back out to sea;
With fists of gold and gems did they revel with glee;
The wind stayed strong so did the buccaneers sail;
To return to home, leaving nary a trail;
But, beware those who celebrate too soon;
Drinking at sea will make of you a buffoon;
'Fore twas well before the sundown that very day;
That the Golden Fox did make them pay;
While on the Goose the crew sat idle and lax;
Did the Fox come up to collect a tax;
So did the Goose then pay its debt in pain;
And now the Goose is but a sea bottom stain.

Sirhan is glad the singer performing again the music is doing him good. He has been in port to long and needs to be back on a ship. He starts tapping his foot to the beat loosing himself in the song he doesn't notice the empty cup forming in front of him.

Then a gruff hushed voice comes from Sirhan's mouth singing the last part of the song with the performer.

'Fore twas well before the sundown that very day;
That the Golden Fox did make them pay;
While on the Goose the crew sat idle and lax;
Did the Fox come up to collect a tax;
So did the Goose then pay its debt in pain;
And now the Goose is but a sea bottom stain.

when the verse is done Sirhan hear in that same voice I am ready to Play, let me out.

The youthful looking half-elf claps politely. "A drink for the lovely lass!" he exclaims and tosses a coin to the nearest serving wench. "Something to keep your voice from becoming parched.", he winks at her.

The giant grunts out something unintelligible and slams down his grog in a long pull, the foul liquid dripping from his too-wide mouth.

"Be more generous, Mister Trigg. Not all of us have heard the tale a thousand times before."

Grand Lodge

Only the most perceptive would notice this tiny slip of a girl sliding into the tavern. She is dressed in an odd motley of scarves, trinkets, and feathers, and the air about her seems to rustle all the time.

She scans the bar furtively, looking for anything amiss, and finds much. I've never seen such a weird looking assortment of... people, in all my days. And with the people I've seen, that's sayin' sumthin'. At least nobody here looks to be a guardsman from Cheliax.

She takes a seat as far from anyone as she can manage, where she can also keep a weather eye on the door. She orders an ale and sips it slowly, only half-listening to the singer.

I guess this is what sailors and pirates look like. The sea, huh? What've you gotten yerself into this time, Wispyr? At least at sea the air will be sweet and free...and far from Cheliax. And MaeMae always said the pirate queen had aholda me. Well, if that's true then she'll find a way to get me on one of these boats. Hopefully one that doesn't leak too much.

Mr. Trigg has been granted his own profile.

Aaaak! Anchors away! Aaak!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Seeing the Wolf headed individual in the corner, Erdthira sings another lively tune to inspire him.

Inspire Competence: Grants the DM +2 on his Analyze Character Sheet rolls.

Then Erdthira looks down at her sheet and realize that her archetype lacks this skill, so she uses her Soothing Performance to make the Wolf like her better. Then she uses Attract Rats to summon a swarm of rats to scare off the rest of the applicants.

A small, plain looking gnome slips into the bar and orders a light ale before settling down in a corner to watch the festivities.

Too bad for Erdthira, Gnarweiss Banderflash is an accomplished vermin hunter who happens to be looking for a ship in need of said skills. Thanks for the for the excellent chance to demonstrate, HAHA. ;)

Good to know,Wulfson. Just wanted to make sure all was well.

Unnatural Presence.

Intimidate +10

The rats don't come near me.

Curious about the selection. There are enough submissions for at least two great parties.

"Ye'd be able ta feed me bird fer weeks! Haha!"

"I am not that easily Scared off."Mumbles Sirhan then picks up a rat and begins to play with it wondering what the effect of a mutagen on it would look like.

It seems I have chosen poorly as to which tavern may provide me suitable feminine company for the evening. If one were to seek 'eye-candy' this place is certainly full of 'eye-rottenwithmagotsfood.' Surely there is a gem hiding in the rubble...

As if an answer to Helkrix's prayers, a stunning young woman with flowing red locks, a kindly face, and sumptuous curves dressed in a waitress uniform enters the Formidably Maid. She walks up to the bar, grabs a tray of drinks and a washcloth, flashes a winning smile at the patrons, and then asks
"Can I get any of you boys another drink?"

Disguise Check:
1d20 + 8 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 + 10 = 36 the +8 from skill, the +2 from a disguise kit, the +10 from the spell Disguise Self. Using Rakshasa Bloodline Arcana to make the Disguise Self spell appear to be Prestidigitation
