The counties of Lozeri, Tamrivena and Vieland overthrow their ruling nobility and form the Palatinates, in favor of democratic self-rule, at least in theory. Lozeri's usurpation is the most violent, with Count Beauturne barely escaping with the lives of his family, through terribly scarred from falling into a wolf pen during the riots.

A group of heroes, intent on stopping the resurrection of the Whispering Tyrant, disrupt the new social order in the Palatinate counties of Lozeri and Vieland. Lozeri's Shudderwood explodes with activity, and dangerous creatures of all sorts accost the populace living on its borders. Vieland's peasantry are outraged at their government releasing the Beast of Lepidstadt, despite its many murders and crimes against nature.

Beauturne, fearing that his legacy will be the end of his family's power in Lozeri, sees an opportunity in the county's growing terror. Unwilling to risk his sons, who are all now well established in Caliphas, Beauturne looks to the scions of the disenfranchised noble families in Ustalav and abroad.

Theme:

This campaign is envisioned as a Gothic Horror "adventure" with kingdom building elements.

Characters should be tailored appropriately, literally and metaphorically.

Premise:

Within you runs the blood, and curse, of nobility. Why being the scion of some distant and ambitious ancestor grants you the right to rule is not for us to judge, but to act upon. Last year, you received correspondence from the elderly Beauturne, inviting you to attain the prestige and honor owed to your lineage. You have met with the man in person, a grotesque looking and hardened creature, yet his genuine desire to strike against the Palatinate Council of Lozeri inspired. You have joined to his venture, and soon you will meet with your new comrades in secret, in a small tavern in the vacant old capitol of Ardis.

Characters:

Attributes:Point buy at 25 points.

Races: Humans. Two partially human characters will be allowed, but they require two things: a compelling backstory and they have to pass for human.

Alignments: Characters must be one of these alignments: LN, N, CN, LE, NE.

Level: Play begins at 3rd level.

Classes: All official Pathfinder classes are available.

Hit points: Full HD at 1st level, half for 2nd and 3rd.

Skills: The Background Skills rules from Pathfinder Unchained are in effect.

Traits: You may choose up to two traits.

Additionally, you must take the Lesser Noble regional trait and a Drawback of your choice.

Starting gold: Each character starts with 3,100 gold to buy their initial equipment, this total includes income from the Lesser Noble trait.

Party Size: 4-6.

Tempo:

Players should post in-character at least three times during the week, with breaks every Saturday and Sunday.

Characters that disappear for more than a week will die, tragically.

Timeframe:

The campaign is set to run until 18th-20th level, at which point the fates of the characters will be decided by their own hands.

Then we will know the length and depth of Ascanor's shadow.

Due to the lengthy nature of the game, I will leave open the option for players to go on temporary leave of absence and for intermittent breaks during play.

Character Deadline:

You will have until August 3rd, 12:01 A.M. M.T. to submit your characters.

I will notify the populus of the party selection results later that day.
