Padme' steps up and bows to Klarima, Revered membrane, We are members of the Starfinder Society. We are a group of individuals, made up of races from a distant system, we call The Pact Worlds. Other races throughout the galaxy, have also joined our organization. Our mission has shifted over the years. We were originally formed to investigate a gap, in our system's history. In the last hundred years however, our mission has shifted to that of galactic explorers. Padme' pauses, to let anyone else interject or to allow, Klarima ask a follow-up question.
We are please that, you and your kind, wish to exchange knowledge with us. Indeed, there is much we could teach you about harvesting water from the air. Perhaps next time we visit, we could bring a technological item known as an atmospheric water generator. This device could helps solve some of your problems with gathering water. If we were able to install enough of these devices..perhaps it could even help you water your crops. Padme' turns Naboh and points him out. Perhaps if we have time, the one known as Naboh can build a more primitive version of an atmospheric water generator known as an evaporator. Padme' pauses to see Naboh acknowledge if he's up to the task. The evaporator is not as efficient as the atmospheric water generator. However, you should still provide you with a few extra litres of water per day. Padme' smiles and bows again.
As for why we have come, it is a simple mission of exploration. We seek answers of the unknown. As for questions, there are several I'd like to start with. You are treated with reverence among your people, could you explain why? My friend Dyukela's, question is a good one, why is your anatomy different from the other ghibrani? Are husk and membranes just different metamorphosis of the same race? Your people seem to lack resources to be able to provide food and water, to adequately care for yourselves. Has something changed recently? Or, has your race always struggled to survive? Padme' pauses to let Klarima answer her first questions. (After Klarmia answers the first questions, Padme' follows up with the last ones)
This leads me to what may be the most important questions that, my superiors may want answered. Do your people have an oral or written history? What I mean is, have you always occupied this planet or do you have legends of an elder race perhaps, more technologically advanced than your own? Lastly, what do you know of the nearby city? Is it occupied? Have you or any of the others visited it? Is it dangerous? Padme' waits for Klarmia to answer all her questions before translating to the others.

Klarima's eyes widen in delight, "So your group is from another world! I had suspected as much but thought perhaps you had come from some remote, unexplored region of this planet. Well this is exciting! You're the first off-worlders I've ever heard of! I would very much like to visit these pact worlds someday!" Klarima pauses, momentarily dreaming about visiting new planet's.
"As for myself, oh ho! You are slightly mistaken. The ghibrani you see around us here don't revere me. I'm simply a guest that they've welcomed. Well more than welcomed actually - they have most probably saved my life! Oh... So much to tell you! Off-worlders... My word! Where do I begin??
"I know! Let's start with Arkeost, a shining beacon of civilization! That is the name of the city you refer to. It is rumored to be one of the few left on this world. In fact, it is the only city I know of and it is also my home. The force field protects it from external dangers, both environmental and sometimes hostile wildlife. I would be delighted to bring you there if you agree to escort me across the wastes!" She beams with pride as she describes Arkeost.
"Regarding why I'm different from the other ghibrani you see here, well all the residents of Arkeost are membranes like me! Hmmm... But yes, off-worlders... So you wouldn't know. Sorry, sorry, let me back up a moment. Context! You need more context!
"As you can see, there is nothing but wasteland all around us. It wasn't always this way, don't you know! The world was once populated by various ghibrani nation-states. Sadly, a great war broke out. The invisible fire they rained down upon one another killed most living things across the globe. It was only thanks to the foresight of our city's ancestors that any of us survived to see today. If only more of our ancestors were wise enough to overcome their vanities and ego, preventing war in the first place. So many lost... It saddens me to think of what our race... our planet would be now had it not been for the launch of these world-ending weapons. Wait.. I'm sorry..." Klarima stops, overcome with emotion. You're not sure if she'll continue with her story. But after a minute, she gathers herself together.
"Right. Sorry about that. So, where was I? Ah yes, the war and why are membranes different from husks. After the war, many generations ago, a faction of my people received protection from a divine power named Mother Touloo. They struck out into the wastelands at their deity’s behest. In doing so, they eventually lost the use of their wings. These ‘husks,’ as we call them, are those you see before you.” She gestures around the cavern. “Those of us who retained the power of flight are known as ‘membranes’ by these people. And like I mentioned, all membranes such as myself live within Arkeost.”
She lifts up her bandaged limb, "And as for my injuries, no one to blame but my own clumsiness I'm afraid. Those in my city rarely leave it; our ancestors made sure we would be provided with everything we would need. However, I have been afflicted with a case of wanderlust. A near terminal case, it would seem, as my explorations outside the city found me stumbling into a tangle of soarnettles. They scratched me quite a bit and thanks to the pain, I lost my way. Luckily for me, I crossed paths with these kind husks, who bandaged my wounds and gave me a place to spend the night. Membranes and husk don't generally interact much as we lead completely separate and different ways of life but there is no hostility either. Membranes are happy with everything they need in Arkeost and husks are happy following the ways of Mother Touloo in the wastes. Klarima pauses as she looks at the husks around you, happily dancing the Hustle, some of whom practicing the newly invented Rustle.
She turns back to you, continuing to answer your questions, "You ask about history and that's an intriguing question! No, no... There's no need for a written history when we all know what happened. Our history is as I described to you, same as was described to me. Of course there are some who may have a few more details here and there but you get the idea, yes?
"And your offer of a water device... This 'eee vapp or ate or' you call it? No, the membranes have no need as Arkeost provides everything but I suspect you were thinking to offer it to the husks? That's quite magnanimous of you! You can certainly ask Koseemo and Alomir but I do believe they will politely decline for they follow the ways of Mother Touloo. As such, they tend to eschew such technologies.
"Hmmm... Now did I manage to cover your first volley of questions?? You definitely answered mine! Perhaps you have a second round of inquiries? Fire away anyone!"

"It will be our honor to escort you across the wastes!"says Dyukela to Klarima.
"Is that right, guys?" he ask the rest of the team!

Remi sits quietly, listening to the ghibrani chattering away, echoed by the mechanical translation of the translation device. She feels herself tearing up when Klarima describes the war that destroyed so much life on their planet. Remi can't help wondering what it would be like if that happened on Castrovel; certainly the races on that planet do not always agree with one another, but the thought of all its vibrancy of life being reduced to a wasteland like this is almost too much to consider. Maybe I should stop in and see Mother again one of these days... the stray thought passes through her mind.
She senses a kindred spirit in Klarima: someone who wants to wander and explore and find new things, who isn't satisfied just living in the place that is known and safe. So she immediately agrees with Dyukela, "Yes, certainly, we would love to bring you back to this place - Arkeost? And we would be happy if you could show us around there."
One further line of inquiry does occur to Remi, and so she adds, "When we were coming to the planet, we encountered an automated defense system. Do you know anything about that?" She looks to Dyukela and Padme' to explain diplomatically, in case the machine doesn't know how to translate. "In fact, it sent a broadcast message to us, which seemed like some kind of warning, but we didn't understand its words at the time."

Id nods along as Klarima relays her story, but reaches out to his fellow Starfinders telepathically. Strange that a city that "provides everything" exists not far from here, yet these husks dwell out in a the wastes. Something seems off to me.
The shirren places a hand on Klarima's shoulder and speaks aloud. "We would love to see the city from which you came, and would be happy to escort you there once our Welcoming is complete. May I ask: if Arkeost is so magnificent and bountiful, why don't the membranes invite the husks to live there instead of out in the wilderness? It looks to me like these people are barely scraping by."

Naboh discreetly attempts to hide his tears as he listens to the story.

Klarima’s statement that the ghibrani husk “eschew such technologies” prompts the grin on Sev’s face to vanish. ”Correction”, the android states, ”this technological unit has been embraced by the ghibrani husk. Indeed, this dude is a member of the tribe. Accordingly, one should refrain from goin’ ‘round jive talkin’… man."
The android pauses for a moment. Query: Could Klarima be correct that the tribe will eventually ‘eschew’ this unit? Sev scans the ghibrani husk carefully.
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9
Despite the inviting actions of Dystane and her people, Sev continues to find organic beings a mystery. Analysis: Adoption of
the tribal vernacular does not appear to have aided in assimilation into the ghibrani husk tribe. Applicable linguistic subroutine should be deleted.
Turning its attention back to Klarima and her conversation with its companions, Sev concludes that the questions by its companions are likely to produce desirable information. Nevertheless, Sev attempts to push the issues further.
”Based upon your statements, am I correct that both the ghibrani membrane and the ghibrani husk are native to this world?”
”How long ago was this war of which you speak and why did the ghibrani not seek refuge from the conflict or the resulting destruction in space? Was the Signal not received on your world?
”If this, Mother Touloo, offered divine protection to those who remained on your world, why did the ghibrani membrane not avail themselves of it? What deity, if any, do you follow?”
”Analysis: During times of conflict, the faction in the best position to create and employ a force-field as protection against one or more weapons capable of causing destruction on a potentially global scale, is that faction responsible for creating and employing such weapons. Conclusion: The sole protected city on the planet would be that most likely to house the faction responsible such destruction.”
Sev now scans the ghibrani membrane carefully. Could the beings in Arkeost be responsible for bringing intentional devastation upon this planet? If so, could they mean harm to this unit or its fellow Starfinders?
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18

Padme' places a hand Sev+ shoulder trying to indicate to him, to slow down with his verbal analysis. What my science officer means is...that, there could be a variety of reasons only your city survived; and that of the likely postulations he and he alone could consider..is that the your city my have taken part in the war of the past. However, as he is not native to this planet and has an abundance of gaps in his data banks...there is a chance he is mistaken entirely. Klarima practically squeals with delight as she fields more of the party's questions. It is very obvious that she is enjoying herself talking to you off-worlders.
Hearing that the party would accept her offer of entry into the city in exchange for an escort, she says, "Excellent! Once we're done here this evening, we can set out in the morning after a good night's rest! Once we reach Arkeost, I can also introduce you to the city's leaders!"
Responding to Remi (which Remi hears via the translator), "Automated defenses? I have never heard of such a thing. It's possible our ancestors set something up - for our ancestors were very wise and knowledgeable. But nothing of the kind is currently known to us. If it sent a message, perhaps your little translation device here can decipher it for you? I'd be curious to hear it myself as well!"
Replying to Id, "Yes, yes... The husks do appear to have a hard life, don't they? Their ancestors did in fact live in Arkeost but they departed upon their own free will. They believe in Mother Touloo and that belief led them to a life outside of Arkeost. For them to return to Arkeost, particularly after so many generations, would run counter to their beliefs. I mean, it has been so long that, as you have all correctly noted, our species has diverged! Husks simply do not consider Arkeost home. If you ask them, I'm quite sure they will say the same."
To Naboh, "Oh yes, Arkeost is a MARVELOUS place! A shining beacon of civilization! Oh wait, did I say that already? Dear me, I suppose it's so very true that it bears repeating twice, or even three times! Arkeost is a shining beacon of civilization! And yes, it is entirely self-sufficient. No engineers or anything of the sort is necessary!"
Looking over towards Sev, Klarima says (which Sev hears via translator), "Oh aren't you quaint! Don't you worry. Just because Mother Touloo instructs husks to live off the land instead of living off technology, it does not mean they won't befriend a sentient being such as you! I mean, it certainly appears as tho portions of your are technological but you obviously have some kind of soul! Well, there was certainly no soul in your rendition of the Hustle, but I digress..." Klarima chuckles gently.
"As for your questions, yes, both membranes and husks are native to this planet. We have common ancestors.
"The war was long, long, long ago. Many, many generations. Honestly, I can't tell you exactly how long ago it was. As for escaping to space, well, it was war I suppose. I assume everyone was focused on destroying each other... even the planet was turned into a wasteland. Perhaps our ancestors didn't have the resources or the foresight to escape into space. But Remi did mention orbital defenses? Who knows, perhaps some of our ancestors of old found their way off-world? That would be quite a story if it were true!! I had never even conceived of such a possibility! As for this 'Signal' you mention, I'm not aware of what that is.
"The membrane don't follow Mother Touloo simply because it was a faction of people within the Arkeost oh so long ago that decided to follow that path. Not everyone believed in Mother Touloo...or was called by Mother Touloo to follow her path, I assume. As for me? Oh I don't follow any deity... No real need when the Arkeost provides all that is needed, right??"
Upon hearing the assertion that Arkeost houses the faction that caused the planet's destruction, Klarima looks puzzled, "Are you suggesting my ancestors in the Arkeost intentionally destroyed the world? Well, quite the presumptuous thing aren't you?? You've been on this planet how long? A day or two is it? And we've only met what? About 30 minutes? And you're already suggesting my ancestors destroyed this world? Ha ha HA! You're lucky I'm made of thicker skin than most! I'll chalk that statement up to what I like to call 'severe lack of a filter' on your part. I find this doubly amusing as your companion Padme' here is obviously trying to backtrack your statement. No matter, no matter. I'm not offended. Once you enter Arkeost though, I suggest you refrain from overly flamboyant accusations. But on the other hand, once you see Arkeost, the SHINING beacon of CIVILIZATION," Klarima raises her hand grandiosely as she says that, "I'm sure you'll see that it's people bear no ill will towards anyone!"
The party around you is now starting to calm down as the tribe members are beginning to leave this large central cavern for other side tunnels and retire for the night. Dystane, Koseemo, and Alomir make their way over to you saying, "Well boys 'n girls, the Welcoming is coming to an end and it's time to crash for the night. It's been killer having you here and you will always be welcome to come chill with us anytime!" They look over at Klarima, "And you too Klarima! Come back and rap with us anytime!"

GM bigboom |

Koseemo replies, "Naw man! We follow the ways of Mother Touloo which is to live our life out here. Life isn't easy but the air is clean and the water is fresh. It's nature out here dude! Besides, it'd be a drag living in that big metal graveyard! No offense, Klarima."
"No, no, none taken!" replies Klarima.
Oh I forgot to mention earlier. Regarding everyone's sense motive rolls, you all believe Klarima is 100% sincere and is telling the truth. She does not seem to be concealing anything nor have any ulterior motives.

![]() |

Id shrugs. "If that's the way you seek to live, then you have our blessing. I look forward to meeting the membranes in the morning!"

![]() |

Padme' bows to both Klarima and Koseemo, Well it looks like we have an overland journey ahead of us tomorrow. Koseemo, please let your people know we are grateful for their hospitality. We look forward to visiting you again. Klarima, I would ask that you overlook our rudeness. We are explorers and investigators at best. We are still discovering how to improve our relations with others, as you've noticed. Padme' takes a step back and says, If you'll excuse me, I've had an eventful day and will need to log a report. Klarima, is there anything else we should prepare for tomorrow's journey? After receiving Klarima's reply, Padme' excuses herself.
Before Padme' retires for the evening, she takes Naboh aside. Despite, the husk indifference to technological items; I'd like you to try and find materials for a simple evaporator tomorrow in Arkeost. Barter if you have to, but I think I'd like to give these husk a gift, before we depart. They might find a few extra litres of water useful in times of drought. Do you think you can do that Naboh? Padme raises one eyebrow as she ask the question.

![]() |

Uhhh, Padme'? You feelin' okay?

![]() |

Ok try this for the 4th! time; but this time I'll put it on a word document so I can cut and paste later if needed!
Padme' bows to both Klarima and Koseemo. Well it appears we have an overland journey through the waste tomorrow. Koseemo, could you please express our gratitude to your people for their hospitality? Klarima, I again apologize, for any miscommunication. We are explorers and investigators at our best. Padme' spares a glance at Sev+. We still have much to learn when relating to new cultures. Padme' looks back at her fellow crew members and then begins to excuse herself from her present company.
If you'll excuse me, it's been an eventful day and I still have a captains log to fill in. Koseemo, thank you again. Klarima, is there any other preparations my crew should make for tomorrow's journey? Padme' waits for the answer and nods in acceptance to the answer proffered by Klarima. Good night to you both then.
Before Padme' retires to her designated rest area, she pulls Naboh aside. Be on the lookout for materials that could construct a simple evaporator tomorrow when we are in Arkeost. Barter for the supplies if you must. Their indifference to technology aside; I still would like to offer the Husk, a gift before we leave the planet. I think they'd would be very grateful to have a few extra litres of water a day available...especially, in times of drought. Padme' raises her eyebrow as if, asking Naboh if he agrees. Do you think you can manage that, along with your other duties Naboh?
Very well sorry to trouble you. Perhaps one of the others can help.

![]() |

Yeah, sure boss. I was gonna scrounge out of spare parts on the ship, but if I see anything I can trade for in the city I'll do what I can.

GM bigboom |

FYI, if you want to use spare parts from the ship at some point, then you can easily gather what you need without affecting the ship's performance.
Everyone retires for the night and the next day, before the party departs with Klarima, Alomir and Koseemo present you, as honorary tribespeople, with a few gifts. First is three vials of a dark liquid that tastes like licorice. Looking it over, you will easily identify it as having the same properties as a mk 1 serum of healing. Second, they present you with a ritual weapon used by husk hunters called a huchket as well as 6 rounds.
Huchket Rifle details listed in the slides. Padme' may also go ahead and restore the one resolve point that was spent.
The journey to the edge of the force field is uneventful but the badlands terrain is rough and Klarima's injuries slow her down. It takes most of the day but the shining metropolis in the distance eventually comes into view. By the time you reach the edge of the force field, the sun is beginning to set. Klarima retrieves a clunky, ancient-looking datapad from her pack and presses a few buttons on it. There is a brief pause when nothing happens and, a little frustrated, she touches the same sequence of buttons on the device. This time, a circular portion of the force field opens like a door. Klarima steps through and gestures for you to follow. After you have all passed through, Klarima presses another button on her datapad and the force field closes again. You travel the remaining half mile to Arkeost and by the time you reach the city's edge, its lights have come on.
Klarima's original share language spell will have expired by now. The party can select the same three or a different three individuals to have Klarima recast the spell on.
This strange metropolis sparkles like a jewel in the gloom of dusk. In stark contrast to the desolation surrounding it, the city is a bustling center of activity, with dozens of winged insectoid aliens going about their business, flitting from one high doorway to another. The streets below seem almost like an afterthought, used only occasionally by small automated machines. Several overgrown flower beds and shaggy trees fill the spaces between the roads and hug the sides of the tall buildings. Though the structures still look sturdy, obvious patches of rust and other disrepair indicate that they haven’t been very well taken care of.
Klarima is continuing to lead you further into the city but I will pause here in case you want to say anything or take any actions between departing the husk tribe and now having just arrived at the edge of the city.

![]() |

Id will take a share languages again.
Id looks around at some of the deterioration visible among the buildings, and tilts his head at how archaic Klarima's datapad is. He contacts his allies telepathically, excluding Klarima. Maybe it is by comparison to the rest of the planet, but I don't see this as a "shining beacon of civilization." These membranes could really benefit from some Pact Worlds technology, and it seems like isolating this city has taken a toll on the infrastructure.

[i]Isolation can take a toll. Sev repeats in a melancholy tone, uncharacteristic of its audible speech. Then, appearing to realize that it is communicating telepathically, Sev responds further in a more calculated manner. Indeed, it appears that despite the achievements of the ghibrani membranes that the inhabitants of this city have lost the knowledge or ability necessary to maintain their technologies, let alone to advance them.

![]() |

Yeah, this is the kind of stuff that's fine until it isn't. I got a cousin who's an architect on Vesk Prime. Well, not so much an architect as a constructioneer. But he worked on this building that collapsed underneath him. That was the day he went from architect to constructioneer.

GM bigboom |

Okay, share languages is on Id. Who else will receive share languages and understand ghibran? I assume Padme' will?
As Klarima leads you further into the city, most ghibrani citizens stop what they're doing and stare at you as you walk with Klarima. In short order, a contingent of ghibranis wearing formal armor and carrying weapons that look like taclashes flutter down to confront your party.
Klarima steps forward and walks ahead to the group of guards to confer with them. While speaking to Klarima, you can see the occassional look of surprise flash across a guard's face and they occassionaly look up to glance at you before turning back to Klarima.
After a minute or two, Klarima walks back to you and says, "Good news! You are going to be allowed to speak to the Most Elevated!!"

GM Padme' did accept Klarima's share local language spell.
"Good news! You are going to be allowed to speak to the Most Elevated!!"
Padme' ignores the guards and latches on to the possibility of speaking with their leader, That is good news indeed Klarima. I take it these individuals here are to be our escorts? Padme' happily accepts the new membranes as escorts knowing many cultures have similar traditions, of having an armed contingent escort diplomats to meetings with their rulers.
Please have them lead they way. We are ready to meet the Most Elevated! It is one of the reasons why we have come, after all.

GM bigboom |

Klarima responds, "Yes, that is correct. They'll escort us the rest of the way."
Klarima and your newly acquired honor guard lead your party to the tallest, fanciest building in the center of the city. The guards flit their wings and fly toward an opening in the structure 40 feet off the ground. Klarima appears to be about to do the same, when she suddenly realizes that your party probably doesn’t have the ability to fly. Using her datapad, she summons forth seven table-sized hovering drones one for each of you. These drones are clearly meant to only haul cargo and have no real safety measures for carrying living creatures.

![]() |

Padme' raises an eyebrow at the appearance of the hover drones and *shrugs* stepping on to the platform maneuvering toward the center and then siting down to give herself a better center of balance.

![]() |

Eh, it's not the weirdest contraption I've ever been given a ride on. My cousin once built a hoverbike out of four industrial fans and a can of soup.
By the time he's finished speaking, he's on the nearest drone, sitting near the edge with his feet dangling over.

![]() |

Sev examines the drone. "It appears that this cargo drone will support at least the majority of the mass of this party." Sev turns to its fellow Starfinders. "Analysis: As we approach the Most Elevated, we will be at least... mostly...elevated.

![]() |

Heh. Good one, Sev. You did mean that as a joke, right?

GM bigboom |

Klarima responds to Sev while point up to the top of the building, "Yes, the Most Elevated are elevated both figuratively and literally!"
Padme' rides on the first drone and it struggles but slowly moves up. When it is at about 10 feet high, the hoverjets momentarily give out and it falls!! But just a couple feet above the ground, its power comes back on just in the nick of time to avoid crashing onto the ground! All the drones then manage to steadily but slowly move the entire party to the 40' high building entrance.
The guards continue to usher the party into the building, leading you to a large central chamber with vaulted ceilings. A large table occupies one end of the room, behind which sit five membrane ghibranis dressed in elaborate robes. They stand, bow to each one of you (that's a lot of bowing!), and beckons you to approach. You are each offered a confortable chair at the table.
Klarima says to the party, "This is the Most Elevated council, leaders of the city, and they welcome you to Arkeost. They can bestow an understanding of our language to those of you who do not yet understand so that we may all communicate easily."
Everyone receives share language, unless anyone decides to refuse it. If you refuse it, let me know.
One of the council members speaks up "Greetings and welcome off-worlders! My name is Ekahi. This is a momentous day!! We are eager to learn about you and from what Klarima has communicated to us, you are eager to learn about us as well! Let us question and discuss with each other so that we may learn more about each other! Agreed?"
Assuming your party agrees, he looks at each of you in turn then asks your party, "Do all of your species look like you? There seem to be a great deal of variation in your species appearance, if you don't mind my saying so! Secondly, how did you travel to this place? Your presence here obviously answers the age-old question: 'Are we alone in this universe?'
"And I'm sure you have many questions... please ask away!!"

![]() |

Engineering DC15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Naboh edges closer to Dyukela on the lift drone and whispers to her.
Psst! Looks like all that talk of "no engineers needed" is skitterwash. This place is fallin' apart.
***
At the council meeting, Naboh gratefully accepts the language spell, happy to have a first-hand account of the conversation for a change.
Uh, yeah, we're not all the same species, bub. My people are called "ysoki", and there are dozens of known species in the universe but we're the most resourceful.
Realizing that he may have gone too far, he allows the others to speak for a while.

Id nods after Naboh’s comment. ”What Nanoh says is true. Many of us are actually different species. Naboh is a ysoki, I am a shirren, and our captain is an android. We all come from different places throughout our solar system. We travel using advanced starships that can move through hyperspace using a plane called the Drift. Why is your city so much more advanced than the rest of the planet? Do you have any repositories of history that we might learn more about your people? We would love to collaborate with you and elevate your planet to an even higher status.”

"Do all of your species look like you? There seem to be a great deal of variation in your species appearance, if you don't mind my saying so! Secondly, how did you travel to this place? Your presence here obviously answers the age-old question: 'Are we alone in this universe?'
Padme' bows respectfully before the council and addresses Ekahi. Padme' decides a version of the greeting she gave Klarima, would also be appropriate to parlay with this council.Members of the council, We present ourselves as, members of the Starfinder Society. We are a group of individuals, made up of races from a distant system, we call The Pact Worlds. Other races throughout the galaxy, have also joined our organization. Our organization's original mandate was to investigate a gap, in our system's history. However, in the last hundred years however, our mission has shifted to that of galactic explorers.
We are please that, you and your kind, wish to exchange knowledge with us.As for why we have come, it is a simple mission of exploration. We seek answers of the unknown. As for questions, there are several I'd like to start with. The Most Elevated, seem to be treated with reverence among your people, could you explain why? Are the council elected positions or is it hereditary? Your, people seem to have lost the knowledge of how to maintain, care for, and repair, some of the technology you currently possess. We could offer aid in the form of teachers, would that be something your people's might be interested in? Lastly, we would like to establish ongoing relations with your people. That would mean, sending another group of Starfinder diplomats and Scientist. Their goal would be to establish an embassy and perhaps, a laboratory and or school to teach and study your people. Padme' pauses to gather the council's reaction. diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 6 + (6) = 28sense motive: 1d20 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) - 2 + (1) = 2
What say you..Most Elvated Council members?

When an opportune time presents itself, Sev asks the following:
"Are you able to provide additional details as to the events that transpired during the war that we understand altered the landscape of much of your planet?"
"Was the Signal not received on your world?"
"What do you know of the orbital defense system that our party encountered upon reaching your planet?"
"Do any of the citizens of this city follow Mother Touloo or any other deity? If so, what are their names?"
"Have you ever invited the ghibrani husk to live within this city? If not, why not?"

GM bigboom |

Ekahi replies to Naboh, "Ohhhh! I see! Different species!! Well that explains the vast variation in size and appearance!"
One of the other ghibrani speaks up, "Hello, my name is Elua. This is fascinating! Naboh of the ysoki states that his species is the most resourceful. Id-Sinitis of the shirren states this is true! So ysoki are the most resourceful species of this 'Pact Worlds' while shirren are, I'm hypothesizing, the most humble?" The other members of The Most Elevated nod in agreement with this assessment.
A third ghibrani on The Most Elevated Council speaks up, "I am called Ekolu and I bid you a warm welcome! Our city is advanced only becauase the rest of the planet was destroyed in the great war oh so many geerations ago. Luckily, our ancestors devised the force field surrounding this city, allowing us to survive the destruction wrought by that war. And yes, we do have repositories!" With a proud smile, she taps her head, "Our heads are the best possible repositories of information!!" Again, the other members nod in agreement.
A fourth ghibrani responds to Padme', "I am called Kaeha. We are treated with reverence as we are the leaders of Arkeost, the last known outpost of civilization on this planet. We are selected for this position by overcoming grueling physical and intellectual tests. Once selected, we remain on this council for life. When one passes, a new generation of ghibrani undergo the rites and rituals of selection until one emerges as the successor to fill the empty seat on the council of The Most Elevated.
"Lost knowledge? I'm honestly at a 'lost' for what you mean. Everything around us is working in tip top shape! Never been better!" The council chuckles at his joke but also agree with his sentiment.
"Diplomats? Embassies? Schools? This is much to consider. We cannot yet provide you with an answer as I'm sure you'll understand. We must confer within the council before any decisions are made but we will most definitely take it under consideration!"[/b]
The fifth council member of The Most Elevated responds to Sev, "Full of inquiries aren't you! This is good!! My name is Kalima. Ah yes... the war. Well, we were once a planet of various nation-states. Our ancestors venerated a great god of battle and conquest. Perhaps venerated a bit too much for war broke out and these nation-states unleashed horrible, horrible weapons. I believe the term for them is 'nuclear weapons?' Well, whatever they were called, they laid waste to the planet and as far as we know, us membranes and the husks are the only ghibrani left on the planet.
"We're not aware of this 'Signal' that you refer to. We're also not aware of this orbital defense system that you say you encountered. That is fascinating! Can you tell us more about it? What did it do? How does it work? Can we go visit it? Perhaps it holds ancient secrets and messages for us from our ancestors!!
"Follow Mother Touloo? Oh no, of course not! The followers of Mother Touloo have all left Arkeost as Mother Touloo requires her followers to live a life outside of cities. No one can possibly claim to be a follower of Mother Touloo and live here! I believe this would be considered blasphemous of Mother Touloo's ideals. As for us, the residients of Arkeost, no, no... we do not worship any deities. In these modern times, what needs is there for a deity or gods? Not when the city provides for our every need?" This time, not only do other council members nod in agreement but the whole room murmurs in agreement, including the guards and Klarima.
"As for the husks, no, we have not invited them to live within the city. They have never asked and we have never offered. They choose a different way of life and it would not make sense for either us to offer or othem to ask. Does a bird request to live underground in a worm tunnel? Does a fish request to live in a bird's nest? It just wouldn't make sense."
At that moment, a gentle tone rings throughout the room. Klarima visibly perks up. “Dinner!” she explains. “It feels like ages since I’ve had a proper meal.” The guards, who had been standing at attention near the door to this room, pull chairs up to the table and a handful of hovering drones enter from previously hidden hatches in the walls. The drones place ceramic plates and utensils in front of each person; the utensil each person receives is a flat piece of metal with a slight indent at one end—almost like a spoon. Each person is then given a serving of a thick, light tan liquid in which floats irregular chunks of protein. The food has a smoky, cheesy odor. As the ghibranis begin scooping up their meals, Klarima explains this is a traditional dinner of “kahlgee,” a word that doesn’t really translate into Common. It looks horribly unappetizing.
Klarima says, "You should give it a try. It's a gift from the membranes and one should always accept a gift!" She then happily digs into her bowl of kahlgee.
Does anyone eat it?

Id stares down at the kahlgee for about 10 long seconds. He reaches out telepathically to his allies. We did come here seeking new experiences. New experiences...new experiences... He scoops up a portion of the dish and swallows it.
I assume a Fortitude save is in order?
Fortitude save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Sev scans the bowl before it.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15
Initial query: Are the ghibrani membrane likely to consider a refusal to partake of the substance known as kahlgee to be an offense?
Culture: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5
Not sure which, if either, is appropriate.
Unmovingly, the android looks deeper into the bowl. Secondary inquiry: Is ingestion of this substance likely to have an adverse affect on this unit or its companions?
Life Science: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 Physical Science: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Again, not sure which skill to use here.
Perceiving Id's swallows, Sev makes a calculating turn of its head to examine its companion.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
Third query: Does Id-Sinitus appear to be in distress?
Life Science: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Physical Science: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Take your pick.

Mysticism: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
"The god of battle and conquest is likely a form of god Damoritosh, deity worshiped by the vesks."
Dyukela puts first spoon of food in his mouth.
"Mmmmm it is really delicious!"
fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Bluff: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18

Still not have touched the bowl before it, Sev continues to look into the bowl, apparently suffering from "analysis paralysis".
When its receptors alert it to Dyukela's tasting of the food, Sev turns to look at its companion: Additional query: Does Dyukela appear to be in distress?

![]() |

Padme' hesitated for a moment before trying some of the food, Your physiology is much stronger than most organic lifeforms. Padme' reasoned as she tasted a bite. Without giving away whether or not she thought the food was good or bad Padme' says, It's an interesting dish Klarima, I've never had anything quite like it before

Naboh sniffs at his bowl of kahlgee, regretting his highly food-sensitive ysoki senses.
Does it taste worse than it smells? Only one way to find out...
He takes a gentle sip.
Hey, it's not so bad. I've definitely had worse. I got a cousin, works in a downspike diner, who makes a meat pie that'll make your intestines squirm. 'Course, that's probably due to the live sklarworm in every pie. And when you're done eating the pie, my cousin will buy the sklarworm back and use it again.
He takes another sip.
But this? Not so bad!
Bluff: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
Fortitude if necessary: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Id, Dyukela, and Padme' graciously begin eating the food and appear okay.
Naboh, however, has a taste and immediately gags and spits it back up with the grace of a sand brute dancing ballet upside down on its head in a glassware store - which is to say, with no grace at all. Bits of kahlgee and Naboh's saliva are splattered around his place setting and Naboh is left half gagging, half coughing at the aftertaste.
Klarima and The Most Elevated look on and Ekahi says, "I see that ysoki are the most resourceful species... but don't have very a very refined sense of taste perhaps?" Turning towards Id, Dyukela and Padme, he says, "But I see you are true connoisseurs of fine cuisine! Absolutely amazing isn't it? You'll find no better kahlgee anywhere! Our city is truly a wonder to behold!!"
As soon as those words leave his mouth, the room goes dark and you sense all the drones stop moving. Those of you with darkvision can see that the drones do indeed stop moving. It appears the power has gone out! Kaeha says, "Oh don't worry about that. The Mainframe acts up occasionally, but it always self-corrects after a few seconds."
